Beales Fish and Chip Restaurant in Bridgend

Chips & fish bites take away. Chips inedible as the amount of salt poured on them ruined whole bag had to throw them away. They were WHITE with salt, just terrible. Fish bites nothing special. Our local chippie provides much better quality. Hopefully just a blip?

Overpriced frozen rubbish! Rude counter staff. A blonde young girl with no charisma. When you enter the shop you will be looked at like they don't want you there. Upon placing the order there is no direction of what a regular chips is for a serving size, but every chip shop I have been to regular feeds 2-3 people. The regular here is a single serve portion. The sausages are bought in frozen along with the fishcake and the chips were terribly undercooked. Extremely disappointed after reading some good reviews. But the staff there made my whole party feel like we shouldn't be there right down to how she went out of her way to place My change on the counter away from me tho my hand and counter by my hand were closer

Chips were terrible.. fish was greasy batter was soft not crispy . difficulty in parking .soon a new road will be built through park . making parking even harder to find a space

Food lovely. Woman with glasses has got 0 customer service skills. A smile every now and again wouldn't hurt you!!!

Had a takeaway on 15 2 24. I'm positive the fish/chips were left over from Valentine's Day! The fish had black pieces and the batter was soggy! The chips had been warmed up! We threw them on Sandy Bay for the unlucky seagulls! Disgusting to serve food like that!

Lovely fish and chips. Came out less than 5 minutes from ordering. Tasted hot and fresh! Friendly service. Can't go wrong, never had a bad meal :)

We visited as a family of four. What can I say, the cod was one of the best I've ever had! Reasonable prices, too. Will definitely be back.

The staff are so miserable! All they do is stare , and they are very moody with customers , it’s as if they have no patience. The food has gone terrible, the chips were old and this is not the first instance that the chips have been old and dry. Don’t bother complaining you will have a mouthful back from a member of staff! Parking is rubbish! I’m hearing so many people having parking fines! Won’t be returning

Food is lush. Used to live in Cleethorpes and haddock was their special, Haddock was stunning it was like being back home.

Beale's Park Fish & Chips Restaurant doesn't disappoint when it comes to serving the BEST fish & chips that I have ever had. Whenever I visit Porthcawl this is my go-to. Everything on their menu is fantastic, the prices are way below what you would expect from such a popular spot. There will be queues on busy weekends but in all fairness they speed through them. The customer service is always lovely and applaudable especially during their peak times. If you park in the massive Porthcawl parking lot the chippy is only a short walk from the beach, located just opposite a park and bowls green where you can sit and enjoy your chips.

We wanted to dine in but the hostess was so rude about seating that my partner decided to get the takeaway instead. The food itself was good, just shame about the service.

What can you say about beals. It's been there for ever . Their fish and chips never fails to satisfy and staff are super friendly.

We continue to travel some distance to frequent Beales, in my opinion the best fish and chips along the South Wales coastal strip.

Delicious food, picked up and eaten at home

We went to porthcawl for few hours to have some fun and some dinner. So we had a really nice meal at beales fish bar. The staff was really nice and helpful too.

Really FANTASTIC fish and chips here I don't ever remember enjoying fish and chips so much, definitely up there with the best ever..Would 100% recommend a visit to Beales when you come to Porthcawl. Little tip, try to get a table inside the restaurant as opposed to near the front door as the door doesn't shut properly and it's not so pleasant if it's cold outside. The staff kindly moved us to a warmer table which we were very grateful for. Very, very tasty fish and the most perfect batter ever. Can't wait to eat there again!

The chips were really nice but I think for the price the portion could have been a little bigger, but other than that they were tasty

Seems popular, fish small for the price and very greasy. Had the end of a run of chips so lots of bits! Won't choose here again in Porthcawl. Parking is very hit and miss, curbside parking for just a few vehicles.

Been coming here for years but today's visit was a disappointment, asked for a large cod & chips to be told "sorry we only do one size" which turned out to be quite small, I know cost's are rising but I'd sooner pay a little more for a decent large cod.

Great food, freshly cooked, and plenty of portions! Loved their Irish curry sauce. It was very busy which tell you it's a great place to eat. They had a restaurant part too and busy.

Had a takeaway from Beales Saturday 9th Sept. Food was lovely but what a shame about the very unhappy lady who served us. She did not look up at all - even when she asked for money or taking our large order. I can honestly say I don't think she's happy in her job!!!

Nice fish chips bit pricy but enjoyed

Absolutely gorgeous fish and chips. Chips were fresh and thick. The fish was amazing. Lovely thick cod and very good, well cooked batter. Only improvement would be home made tartar or creamy tartar in a pot rather than sachets. Thanks guys.

Whilst waiting to be served, there was a young girl serving who was working as hard as she possibly could, she turned to ask a grey haired man who was cooking possibly her boss was there a certain fish left and his response was to embarrass her infront of a busy waiting crowd of customers shouting at her ‘Do I have to read the entire menu out to you?’ Along with various other words causing the young girl to look extremely embarrassed! My partner and I were appalled that a young girl seemed to be bullied in such a nasty manner! The girl then served us and was visibly upset. The chips were average but even if they were amazing we would never go there again owing to the disgraceful behaviour of this awful man.

Been making the journey down to beales for years but lately the prices have increased (which is to be expected at the moment) but the portion sizes have become laughable, 2 large trays of chips which cost over £7 wouldn't have fed a single child, a real shame as the chips snd everything else has always been very nice

The food is really good. It's always a long wait for take out when we have been there but because the food is so good we don't mind.

Went for the day to porthcrawl. Heard of this place and excellent reviews takeaway service queue huge all cooked fresh went inside to eat very clean lovely stsff excellent fresh food good size portions was beautiful in there and so clean staff polite and helpful with my little nieces . My sister and her family came to visit Porthcawl and loved it. Beales was the icing on the cake. Fish and chips were great. Staff were lovely. My brother in law was pleased he could order a beer!

Everybody I've spoken to really rates this place, and I can see why. For traditional fish and chips, you just can't beat it. Their staff are friendly, families are welcome, and the food is fantastic.

We are from Birmingham on holiday in porthcawl, I saw this place as I was driving past. We decided to give it a try, I can honestly say it was the best piece of fish I've tried in wales. Thank you so much we will definitely be coming back

Had a holiday takeaway from here, great value, and delicious food.

Visited here for lunch today as usually do when visiting the area. Staff came across as unbothered, and rude. Each meal was heavily salted, so much so that most of the meal was sadly wasted. Friends also commented that the service was off and their chips were horrid due to the amount of salt. On the plus side, the curry sauce and fish were nice.

Asked locals where the nicest/best fish and chips was around Sandy Bay and a lady recommended Beales. Queued for atleast 30 mins, once ordering the service was poor, it didn’t seem like they were listening. After another 20 minutes our food was finally finished and we took it away. No one asked if we wanted a bag, would have paid for one, didn’t realise I had to ask so we lugged our order back to our car awkwardly. We then drove to a spot to eat the food and we realised they had left out a portion of chips… we realise we didn’t pay for that portion but it just goes to show that they weren’t listening, even when repeated. Got stuck into the food hoping that would it would be worth while and it wasn’t. The chips were mushy. Basically ate salty oily mash. Very disappointed by the whole experience. I never leave negative reviews, however I felt this one actually deserved one because of how highly rated it seemed to be, which to the 4 of us in our group seemed crazy. Don’t waste your time and money!

Went here last Sat (12/08/23),with my wife, daughter and her partner. I didn't eat but the other 3 did. Food looked OK but it was a bit pricey. We ate in so maybe the take away part downstairs may have been cheaper?

The fish and chips at Beale's are likely the best in Porthcawl. The choice of fish is great, and the preparation time for take out is excellent. The service is okay. I've worked in the service industry (still do to an extent), and upon returning to the car, I shared my opinion to my wife: "the staff look like they'd been slapped by a wet fish" A smile goes a long way, and the serving staff, while I'm sure are lovely people, looked like automatons and didn't exactly provide that "service with a smile" which helps to brighten everyone's day. Still, can't question the taste of the dishes here, that's why I keep going back! Edit: well, the staff were a bit more smiley, despite the huge queue trailing outside the shop. The fish appeared smaller than my last visit. It is summer season now, so smaller fish pieces last longer for the increased number of customers.

Went down for a drive Friday night had pasty/chips and curry ,drove up to rest bay to eat them watching the sun set, A young lad called Matt served me he had great customer service 😊👌

Absolute rip off, can only order a regular portion of chips which is the smallest I have ever had. Prices are high for portions, terrible value for money. Gravy beyond salty. Pies dry.
