Really nice food, very much enjoyed it

Great restaurant, highly recommended.

We use to use this take say when we lived in Saltdean - we decided to give it a go in an return trip from Australia- AND - it did not disappoint food was outstanding

Best Indian food I've had in a while, it arrived piping hot and was very yummy. Thought I'd try a keema naan on the recommendation of a friend and now needless to say, I'm now hooked. 😀

The food here is amazing, I really enjoyed the biriyani, tastes just like genuine homemade food. Everyone was really lovely and overall the service was amazing and welcoming. Best south asian food in brighton 10/10.

Baffles me how some places can get it so wrong! Chicken Madras was inedible!

Awful curry. Tastes like something out of a jar and was really overly salty. Would not order again after this experience.

I’m being generous by describing the food as average. We stopped using this place due to previous bad experiences, I should have gone somewhere else but I thought we could give it another try as it’s local. A real shame.

Waited 2 hours for delivery and received cold food. Call Saltdean Spice and they said that they were very busy and couldn't do anything the put then phone down. Won't be ordering from them again

I am delighted to see the Saltdean spice is open again. very tasty authentic Indian spicy food. I have used Saltdean spice many times and the foods are always delicious.

Another delicious meal from Saltdean Spice, can’t fault anything. Super tasty and freshly cooked curries, all arrived 15 minutes earlier than they quoted, so that was a bonus.

Very late delivery, despite marked as ‘delivered’. Totally uncontactable via phone number. Left in the dark about the delivery and hungry!

Late but know they were short staffed in the kitchen so doing best they could. Quality always good!

Don’t go anywhere near these guys if you want a delivery!!!! Rang after approx 30mins after delivery time (1.5hrs from order) be told they were really busy and it’ll be on its way soon. 2.5hrs later, no response, not even picking up to explain. Shocking!!!! Can’t really comment on quality.

Incredibly disappointed. We have been waiting nearly 3 hours for our order. Despite calling after an hour & a half to chase up our order & being reassured that it was on its way as we spoke, another hour & a half and absolutely no sign of it. Also the restaurant is not answering our calls despite trying to call again on & off for the past 30 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous & we’re starving!

Man delivered me a bag of popadoms and walked off. Lovely girl on the phone tried to sort it out but then took another 60mins plus. Waited over 3 hours for my food

this is such a good takeaway! even though we moved from Saltdean a while ago we still come to collect from them when we are craving curries as we never had any issues with the service The flavours are just great and the temperature is always hot

2023 update, food is much better now after the quality degraded about 18 months ago. Happy with the chicken tikka masala and will order again soon. Good food. I had chicken tikka masala with pilau rice + aloo paneer . The food was well heated when it arrived. The food arrived exactly at specified time.

Our go to takeaway curry in Saltdean. Always hot, tasty food. Very accommodating to vegetarians.

The order took 2 hours to be delivered, we thought by ordering through Just Eat would provide a bit of guarantee but no, if I wanted to wait 2 hours for some food I would have driven to the supermarket then slow cooked it myself. Absolute rip off charging £50 for a couple of dishes that took 2 hours to deliver.

Saltdean spice was one of my favourite take away in Brighton. I miss all the spicy dishes and the special korma. The shop is closed at the moment for renovations.

Fast service especially as I was 20 minutes early to collect my order. The restaurant accommodated my lack of timing and I was given my food only a few minutes after arriving.

Best Indian takeaway I’ve had in years, friendly service and the food was ever so fresh, piping hot, ready on time and totally delicious. Well done Saltdean Spice team. I will be a regular customer from now on. Congratulations 👏👏👏

Lovely food and delivered in good time. We had a delicious selection of vegetable dishes, possibly a bit potato-heavy but the flavours were great!

Food was late. Called restaurant who said it would be here in a minute, waited another 35 minutes for it to arrive. Food was fine when it finally arrived.

It looks like rice and Naan Bread that used to be included in the main meal are now extra!!!!! putting Extra £13 on the cost of meal for x2 so now £40 instead of £30 , 25% increase buy the back door, shame as the food is very good.

Worst Indian food I've ever tasted bahji cooked till inedible, tikka weird no taste ,chips ovened but deep fried ,salad good, popadon stale . Never again .

Beautiful biryani - veg curry was almost entirely potato which was tasty but surprising esp as we had sag aloo too, but I love potatoes in curry so not a problem. Arrived early which was great as we'd ordered late!

The curry’s were pretty poor so it was a shame. The first thing I noticed upon it arriving was part of the order missing (rice…kind of essential). Mistakes happen so maybe a one off. The curry’s when opened were submerged under a broad layer of oil. I had a Balti, virtually no flavour and no spice. The lamb in this dish was very fatty also. To summarise the rest: Onion bhaji’s: dry, overcooked and oily (most are but they should rest on a towel first to get some oil out at least) Lamb tikka: seriously the worst dish. Tough as old boots. I should have known better Poppadoms: not too bad actually but I think it’s the bare minimum I was warned about this place before but seemingly forgot. I will try again maybe in a good few years

I wish I had seen the previous review with 1 star. Ordered lamb, it was so tough and full of gristle in the end I was thankful there were only 5 measly pieces. What was there was swimming in sauce for £12.50 a dish !!! The chicken we ordered was just chilli hot with a powdery taste and absolutely no flavour. The okra was old and so fibrous I had to leave it. What a waste of our weekly takeaway treat. Please do better if you want to get repeat customers. Times are hard but food this poor quality should not be served.

Another delicious, fresh and tasty meal from Saltdean Spice. Can’t fault it at all. The food was delivered 10 minutes earlier than they said, it was lovely and hot and every dish was super delicious, not greasy like some can be. Best Indian in the area, the past 5 or 6 meals we have ordered from here have all been fantastic!

Food was on time but considering on the collection notes I added that the last curry from here wasn't even warm, and can they ensure it is hot this time, only half of it was! Also half tasted great the other half was tasteless. Won't go again as there are so many other Indian places around to try. Shame 🙄

Food was just inside the 2 1/2 (!) hour delivery time. The food arrived warm. It was tasty which was just as well as I brought it back up on several occasions throughout the night. I'm writing this review hunched over and shivering; a shell of my former self. AVOID.

Chicken was great, flavour was great, lamb rubbery and not for first time. You need to learn patience and cook it slowly until tender.

Lovely flavour good portion size and an extra poppadom! (Veg biryani, sag aloo, poppadoms) nicely spiced, not too hot, perfect! We had to pop it in the microwave to top the heat up a bit, but we usually do that with any takeaway. Will order again

I challenge anyone to find a better bhaji and curry in Brighton. Knockout food. Ty!

One of the containers was squashed with all the sauce in the plastic carrier bag, this was probably done during delivery.

I had my favourite dish from this takeaway is tandoori shalsha , no other takeaway can do the same dish like spice. Korma and masalla also my favourite dish.

Had a takeaway from Saltdean Spice tonight. had chicken korma, chicken tikka Marsala and the sag aloo was absolutely delicious. I recommend others to try. I must say the delivery was within the time. thanks to the spice

Ordered from here several times...and never had a bad meal. Great stuff.

The food is amazing from here but both times I have paid for a tika chicken and a tika lamb but they have just came as regular lamb and regular chicken which is a disappointing. Apart from that the food is lovely.

The delivery and lady delivering were all great, very friendly:) however unfortunately the food was a little bland and chicken was kind of rubbery. I probably wouldn’t order again.

Very bland food!!! Ordered tikka masala. Awful is an understatement. It was so dry and no flavour. The biryani had no taste.I had to add my own spice to it!!! Do not order from Here. Waste of my £36! Gutted Staters we're ok but not amazing . I won't be ordering here again

We ordered 2 chicken kormas that were very tasty, chicken was soft. However I paid extra for popadoms and only received one, had I known this I would of ordered extra. Overall experience was fine but we collected and didn’t risk the potentially long delivery delays.

Food was 30mins late abs when it arrived some parts were cold and the popadom was soggy and inedible, very disappointing.

The food arrived piping hot and was really nice - lovely tender meat, flavoursome curry and delicious sides. Can’t wait to order from here again after some bad curries in the area.

Ordered on a Monday so it was delivered quickly. Everything was hot. Food was really good. Went for lots of the veggie bits and all superb. Brilliant simple daal. Veg vindaloo well spiced. Nothing too salty but still loads of flavour

Can’t believe you have put your prices up £3 per curry. Tikka balti gone from 9.49 to £12.50 love your food but when ordering for a family will not be going here again after a 33% increase in prices

Seems to have gone downhill in recent weeks. Tikka masala used to be full of flavour, had two in the past few months, considerably bland. Tastes watered down, like the ingredients have been cut back or switched for cheaper alternatives. First I bought I thought maybe a mistake, few weeks later tried again, same taste, no flavour at all. Shame really when they put the prices UP recently as well

Really friendly and lovely staff, but sadly my chicken tikka was the ‘plastic’ rubbery chicken. A real shame as I would have liked to use them.

The food was good, and despite the recent price increase to £15ish for tikka masala and pilau rice delivered, it still tastes great. Unusual delivery took half an hour for a 5 minute drive to peacehaven but still within the estimated time.

That was delicious! We ordered well in advance to avoid the Friday delays, the food turned up spot on the time we booked. Delicious bhajis, generous naan sizes and huge pappadums. The mains were super spicy in a genuine Indian way. Literally can’t fault it. Thanks!

Fantastic food again but was missing an item

I ordered half tandoori chicken but received only 2 leg pieces . Very small quantity

Food was an hour late and cold. Order was marked as delivered at estimated time of delivery. Had to phone up 3 times and kept getting told would be with us in 10 minutes. Won’t be using again.

If your not in a rush for your food and like your food pretty cold and soggy this is definitely the place to order from. I ordered from here on the 19/02/22 and ordered at 6.20pm and was told food would be 40 minutes. The food arrived at 8.50pm I tried phoning then many times to see what was happening no answer seemed they had taking the phone off the hook. When food eventually arrived the Tandoori chicken starter was dry with no flavour seemed they didn't bother with the tandoori and the chicken dupiaza had a couple of chunks of chiicken but not much and was pretty cold with no flavour . Would never order from here again I'd rather have a pot noodle and a bag of crisp.

Food took 40mins after it was supposed to be on its way (restaurant is 5mim away) and food was lukewarm at best. Disappointed.

Absolutely disgusting service. Nearly 2 1/2 hours and still no food. I have tried contacting the restaurant over and over but can’t get through. No notifications, no updates, no apology. Every single time we have ordered from Saltdean Spice the food is late, the only saving grace normally is the food is good, however this is taking it too far. I won’t be ordering with you anymore.

Shocking. 2.5hrs later still waiting. Line constantly busy for over an hour. Taken payment from Deliveroo and marked as delivered at the 2hr point. Awful. Payment taken and no food. Brilliant.......

We had pre-ordered for 7.45pm, food was delivered 8.25pm. Food was without much flavour, quite bland, stuffed paratha was smaller than from other establishments, papadom was "like yesterday's batch". We phoned to ask where the order was, we were given an apology, no good explanation was offered.

Order took 2 hours and was marked on its way about 25mins before it actually left assume this was for the benefit of Just Eat.

Ordered at 5.30 for a delivery off 6.40 to 7pm. Arrived at 7.40.

Waited 2 hours for delivery. Called twice told 10 mins and never turned up this is the 2nd time this has happened we will not be returning. Absolutely shocking customer service too

I have lived in Saltdean since 2000 and have always stood by Saltdean Spice, my son was at school with one of their daughters and they know me by name. There have been a few hiccups over the years but always reliable. I hate to say this but the last 4 visits including tonight have been well below par. The curries all look the same and have the same consistency but have a few different ingredients. In the past you could easily identify each dish. Whilst one of the cheapest in the area things need to improve for me to return. Jeff
