The food is excellent and tasty as always, and the delivery operative was very diligent, professional and very polite. For me this is service that leaves a smile. Top marks all round.

The naan was a little but tough but other than that it was really nice and the amount of chicken in the curries was really good :)

Great curry, we’ve been a loyal customer for years but we can no longer afford the price. Such a shame.

This is our usual takeaway and we enjoy it a lot. However this time I had placed and order at 5:45 and for it to be delivered 6:35. A little bit later I am notified it’s out for delivery and gets delivered at 6:00. I don’t usually complain, but this was really inconvenient, and by the time i actually was ready to eat it was completely ruined and cold.

Sadly both dansak and madras was quite bland. Special rice was disappointing as mainly contained peas. Onion bahjee was undercooked in middle. And nann doughy and not much peshwari flavour. Would not get again :(

although food was delivered on time it was not good I ordered multiple dishes but they all taste the same just bland curry even the madras had no flavour or spice and it was very watery like water in it. very disappointed it was a big order that noone wanted to eat

Curry was inedible. Chicken wasn’t cooked, lamb was very tough and naan bread tasted stale. Wouldn’t recommend.

Driver asked me to walk out to get my food 😞

The chicken tikka masala taste like a chicken Koma if I wanted a chicken korma, I would’ve ordered a chicken coma. I hate chicken korma, however the portion sizes were good there was not one thing that resembled chicken tikka masala very disappointed

Fabulous food, just half hour late.

Ordered dansak and it was totally bland had no flavour at all. Given the name of this restaurant is Spice Merchant I think they forgot to add any spice to it other than the chill. Won’t be ordering from here again. Also sides we had were equally bland. Ordered from here because of big discounts, I guess that’s quite telling.

Sadly the food was bland. None of it was labelled, so we couldn’t tell who’s dish was who’s. The shop where I collected the order was messy with card receipts everywhere. The guy behind the counter was fine but looked tired.

Everything was tasty but the lamb in all curries was tough and uneatable. Will order from them again but stick to chicken next time

The quality was not good. Garlic naan was hard as a rock and brown and the Paneer felt rubbery in the saag paneer

Highly recommended, reasonably priced and decent food. They made a small mistake on my order, but fixed it in no time and sent a driver out within 10 minutes to rectify the issue. Will always come back here

Ordered two different curries, got two of the same and no clue what they even were as couldn’t read whatever was wrote on them. Shocking

I normally go for Brighton curry in kemptown but thought I’d try a new place. It was the Worst curry I’ve ever had. Firstly, it took an hour and a half to be delivered. I had to call three times and each time they said it was 3 minutes away. At one point he admitted he was guessing how far away it was. Lazy and dishonest customer service. But worse than this, the food was disgusting. Three out of five of my dishes were the wrong curry. No spice or flavour whatsoever. All of it was either undercooked or overcooked and dripping with oil. It’s hard to believe that every single dish was pretty much inedible but that is indeed how it was. I only ate the popadoms and have requested a refund through just eat. I’ve never left a bad review but this experience has left me astounded and I’d like to warn others to avoid this place.

Kept telling me it was 5 minutes away when it wasn’t! Put the phone down on me at one point. To add insult to injury the food was inedible, cold, like mush, dripping in oil and completely tasteless.

Food was great, but food was very late. Had to make a couple of calls to the restaurant to know what was happening. Food was about an hour later than advised.

Raw chicken and kebab. Not just a bit under, totally raw. Do not order from this place, they should not be in business.

The worst food ive ever had and trust me I've been about 😪 man who answered phone was rude when I asked where my food was 1hr 45 min late . The food was such poor quality watery , greasy and dry meat. Avoid Avoid Avoid

And on the 8th day, god said let there be Spice Merchant. My weekly curry is the only thing that keeps me going. The food is sublime, the staff are delightful and the world is a better place with this glorious establishment.

unfortunately the food was just OK, hardly any meat, sauce was as if poured out of a jar and the food was cold as I was staying in a hotel I had no means to heat it up. I had a discount of 40%, if I had paid full price I would have complained. delivery was excellent on time and followed directions.

If you haven’t been here, you’re missing out on one of the greatest joys in life. If you see me in the corner, aggressively guarding my curry, just smile and nod—I’m in my happy place.

Driver was worried as he was 3 mins late ! Hot food , very tasty and the Tuesday discount meant i ordered far more than i should have but i enjoyed it all lol .

The Lamb bhuna in the set meal says it comes with pilau rice but none was delivered. Ok quality, but wasn’t very warm on arrival.

Food was delicious, great quality and generous with the meat, my only complaint is that I paid extra for mint yoghurt to dip my poppadoms in and it was such tiny amount. saying that I have discovered my new favorite curry house and will order again

I am doing first time a bad coment on a takeaway, first time i feel i wasted money on food, Naan bread was uncooked and thick. Its look like a tandoor chef was on off and any untrained person made those breads( garlic , chilli and tandoori roty). Just veg rice and reshmi kebab was average, all the curries was tasteless( madras sauce, tadka dal, matar paneer. I bin 70% of food. Thanks spice merchat.

so we order around 5:55 and our delivery turned up at 7:30 now I understand when a place is busy but the app told U it would be 45 minutes then at the end of that 45 the app told us it had been sent out for delivery then it took another 40 minutes!! once it was eventually with us it was all cold and one offf my Currys had been crushed and lost a lot of it in the bag and all over everything else. Then to realise we had my partners mushroom rice was missing wich was charged extra for!!

Food was not very good at all. Naan bread wasn’t cooked so was more like a dough, and the two curries had no taste. It was like eating fresh air.

The food was nice but the delivery driver refused to bring the food to the door and demanded I meet him at his car. I don’t really expect that type of service.

The curry flavours were all wrong. The generic/store bought popadoms and peshwari naan saved the meal. Only buy if they're on heavy discount and if you're happy with a generic low quality curry (there is a time and place!)

Cannot fault the food, absolutely delicious thank you. Delivery was 15 minutes late but was worth the wait. Thank you Spice Merchant!! Will definitely order again.

Delivery was great but food has gone down hill- sag aloo was plain and mushy- curries were just alright and the portions were smaller than they used to be. Got about three regular sized chicken chunks with the chicken tikka, and a few tiny pieces. Just a shame because they used to be really nice. Can’t fault the delivery at all though as they were fast and easy to communicate with

Curry was half hour late...wierdest ceylon ive ever had, im sure it was even different to ones ive had from here in the past? Naan arrived cold & tasteless. Onion bahjees were mushy and grim. Sadly the best thing was the rice & popadoms

The delivery driver was rude and unhelpful. i tried giving him instructions but everytime i went to talk he talked. then he kept asking me to go out and get the food. not ideal when you pay for delivery. He also told me he would try 1 more time and then just go back to tbe restaurant. He was rude and the food when eventuallu turned up was cold

Over 50 minutes late freezing cold and nan bread soggy and uncooked. Called up restaurant to be told very busy that’s why it’s late. Order from here every week it’s getting worse and worse Shame because the curries are so nice. Will find a new curry house.

This place used to be delicious, but recently they've been slow to deliver, and the curry itself is way less flavoursome and spicy

Food came 30 min later than the end of the delivery slot ... This was actually over 90 min since we ordered it. Food wasn't cold when it arrived but wasn't exactly hot either.

The food arrived almost an hour after the estimated time and 25 minutes after the Just Eat app said it had arrived. The food wasn't even lukewarm, the onion bhaji bag was dripping in oil and the chicken pathia tasted bland, not sweet and sour.

half an hour later after the max delivery window, food was average, lukewarm at best and the dhansak was essentially a korma....

Unfortunately it's not a good curry. The Naga lamb which is meant to be a medium/hot curry but it just tastes of tomato with no heat, mild at best. That's not me pretending to be double hard about how much spice I can handle, it literally just tastes of tomato. The chicken biryani is overcooked and mushy, and the vegetable curry with it is very greasy. The naan is ok, the only bit I could recommend. It's my first time trying here and I won't be heading back.
