Wonderful restaurant with stunning vistas. Exceptional food! Highly recommended.

A culinary highlight. The Seafood Chowder and Beef and Stilton Pie were absolutely delicious. The best meal we have had in the area and we highly recommend this restaurant. The gorgeous lookout on Northney Marina was just the cherry on top.

A lovely little find. Surrounded by construction at the moment, but once we located the entrance, it was all good. The menu is a really good selection of paninis and jacket potatoes. Nothing fancy here but it's just done really well. The food is honest and hearty. The portions are generous, and everything on the plate was fresh!! , There is seating inside and out. Set up for comfort year round. Will definitely visit this place again.

We randomly found this cafe when searching for lunch. Staff were so lovely, interior was warm and cosy. The food was so tasty! We would definitely come back :) I would advise to book in advance as it was full

Lovely place to eat. Caters for gluten free and vegan diets. Also very grateful for the onion slices we needed for my child who had been stung by a wasp.

Lunch on Thursday 19th Sept beautiful sunny day very glad to see it bustling creating amazing atmosphere with chilled music giving holiday vibes. All staff friendly and welcoming and food was outstanding! The crab salad was fantastic! The calamari some of the best I've had (and I travel the world) Thank you and we will be back!

It was honestly one of the worst café experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered two coffees and a scone, and it was downhill from there. Both coffees were served cold. As for the scone? Absolutely horrible. We pre-ordered scones with cream and jam, and what we got was dry, tasteless, and a real disappointment. But the worst part? Both the cream and jam were expired! We went back to get them replaced, only to be given another pack of expired, frozen cream that smelled like rotten milk. It was shocking that neither the manager nor the girl making the coffee seemed to care that they were serving expired food, which is not only disgusting but a serious health hazard. We won’t be going back, and I sincerely hope the authorities take action. The only redeeming factor about this place is the walk to the café. But after this experience, I’d say, avoid at all costs. Horrible food and even worse customer service.

Great little place overlooking the marina. The salads, Ciabatas and burgers are all good. Only a couple of seats inside, most on decking only primitively protected so, if it's chilly, come well wrapped up. The nearest car park is restricted to yacht owners so you park a couple of hundred yards away (relevant for those with poor mobility). The ladies who run it are helpful and friendly. It's very popular so phone up and book a table in advance.

Pop over for a breakfast, it was very busy so will book next time. We did seats outside as the inside was fully booked . Was little cramped for 3 and very hot (August). The breakfast was outstanding, excellent quality, and delicious. Highly recommended.

We ordered some food and drinks during an afternoon service. Our food arrived before our drinks, which did take a little while but they were busy. The staff did assure us drinks were on the way, and then several minutes later the wrong drinks were brought out, followed a few minutes later by half our drinks but wrong again, so then half our drinks came correctly this time and the other half were delayed because the machine wasn't working. At this point we'd almost finished and so they offered us an alternative drink. Also one of our meals said it came with an avocado salad but there was no avocado in sight. They only offer white bread and there aren't a huge variety of vegetarian or vegan options. So overall the drinks were a bit of a faff but the food was mostly very nice. The toilets are also just public toilets so not great. Lovely that they allow dogs though!

Had a table for 6 for brunch on Saturday- what to say...fabulous fresh delicious food, great atmosphere and a very warm welcome from Michelle and her team. You have to visit this little gem 🌟!!

Maybe it was a bad day but we dropped by here for breakfast. Not a particularly friendly welcome. Not obvious how to order - we just sat around our allocated table with some other folk on a different table who didn’t know what was going on either. Eventually told by a member of staff “oh, order inside if you want anything!” Drinks took a while to arrive, considering not particularly busy that was a surprise (an iced latte and a flat white!). Food followed after that - a “BBQ breakfast”. Reminded me of a truck stop type affair. Soggy toast. Bacon and sausages in fat / greasy water. Nothing particularly special that’s for sure. Genuinely can’t see why it gets good reviews!

Lovely place to look at and nice views of the marina was excited to give it a try was quite busy in the main area so we sat outside we went into order and the guy that served us not sure if he was rude or just his way but either way wasn’t the best welcome! We ordered what myself and my husband wanted and asked if there anyway they could do some scrambled egg my son has ARFID so always tricky eating it but most places have eggs on there menu and always accommodate but this was a firm no! So we placed our order so we could eat quick to get him home to eat my husbands food arrived wrong again the man was off about that but it did get changed my food a jacket potatoe was very nice with a lovely side salad worth a stop for the view

Lovely bustling cafe, with perfectly executed home made food. Had the bacon 🥓 quiche and salad, chips on the side, then fruitcake and a flat white. Great balance in the avocado salad, no complaints about anything. Will be back.

Consistently good here. Warm welcome, easy ordering & timely polite service. It is worth noting that they get busy & to avoid disappointment I would suggest booking in advance. As with any small establishment, a wait for food at busy times is to be expected...😊👍

Lovely spot in the marina. A great place to relax by the water. My son and I went for coffee and cake at about 3pm. The cakes were delicious - we had a chocolate chip shortbread and a cinnamon roll. The coffee was fine. Next time we go, we will try more of a meal, but it looked like we'd probably have to book, as it was very busy.

My wife and I have been coming here since it first opened and it has been consistently a great experience. The combination of location, good food, good atmosphere and Michelle's team make this a special place to come to.

Nice venue, seating could be a little more comfortable, food delivered quite quickly. Only problem was my Ciabatta bacon and cheese was supposed to have cranberry or chutney on it but it had neither, and it was advertised as such on the menu board, I did bring it to the attention of one of the staff but just received a quick ,"oh sorry" This was today Thursday a 12:30 booking

My daughter and I popped in here on a Sunday morning whilst in the area. Lovely little place and filled up quick soon after we arrived. I had a avo, egg and Salmon roll and my daughter had two slices of toast with beans, a Coke and a OJ. Came to £25 which I thought was quite expensive.

It shuts at 3pm (sharp) not 6pm as advertised. I asked if that was the same every day, and apparently it is. Average prices, average service, so satisfactory. A shame - it could be so much more in such a nice location.

Breakfast and then Lunch at the Salt Shack Cafe were perfect for a visit to Hayling Island after 51 years of absence. A busy venue, for all the right reasons, and Mary Jane managing this happy, up-beat cafe impeccably. Serving such delicious food and drinks in this marina setting deserves recognition and we will certainly be returning soon.

Most of the seating is outdoors and we were told all the outdoor heaters were broken. So a very cold eating experience! Probably best avoided until it's warmer. But also staff very unfriendly bordering on hostile. No hot water bottles or blankets offered to me or my group! Lunchtime on Friday 22 December.

Popped in for a brew and a superb piece of carrot 🥕 cake. Seating in the tented area complete with blankets and a few heaters and offered hot water bottles if required, well worth a visit, will use again.

Absolutely fantastic meal out at the Salt Shack, service was very quick and friendly, and the staff were very polite and welcoming.

Came for breakfast with friends and the food did not disappoint - the sausages in particular were packed full of flavour. Extremely reasonable prices as well. Only grudge is that it was a bit cramped seating wise.

Great breakfast. A little cold at the table but Force 5 wind may have had something to do with that. Blankets to keep warm.

Had s lively lunch here. Loved the ambience of this place. Sat on the decking under a frilly parasol with Mediterranean music playing in the background. Made us feel like we were on holiday which was lovely! The food was fresh and tasty, nicely dressed salad and generous portions. Will def be recommending to friends and family.

This is a MUST visit cafe when on Hayling Island. We called for a reservation for lunch as we had heard lots about this place and wanted to make sure we got in. The location is right on the marina and is AMAZING. The staff are extremely friendly and make you feel like family, and the food is DELICIOUS. It's served with so much presentation and love, and tastes FABULOUS. I can not recommend this cafe enough. We had heard so much about it and they DIDN'T let us down. Thank you for a truly amazing experience.

We had a pretty good breakfast but the enamel plates revolved so we had to sit them on our table napkins to keep them steady. The table napkins were soaking wet anyway and not nice to use for anything else. It's done to wrap them around the cutlery, but it's unpleasant. My husband's toast was burnt black with the black side down. I found a £7.50 tiny price label in my coffee! The coffee was excellent but the label unexplained. I didn't realise until I'd finished my apple juice that the glass was really badly cracked. We received apologies. I think that standard have slipped.

I was attending a training course and had heard good things about the Salt Shack. I decided to go there for my lunch with some other students. We were not disappointed, the location is amazing, the food was delicious and the staff were brilliant. I would 100% recommend the Salt Shack

Quiet idyllic location over looking the Marina. Good seating and tables. We were served at the table by friendly staff. Food selection does seem to vary according to season / busyness, which is not surprising.

Fantastic, love this place. Food was top tier. Best on the island. Staff was friendly and sat us without a booking and treated us with respect. The young man who brought the food was kind.

This café has a very nice atmosphere - a good spot right by the deck and line of boats. The staff were friendly, the food we had was really decent and there was a good variety to choose from. We will be back should we return to this area!

Just spent £16 on 3 coffees and a cake. all coffees mediocre (especially for £4) and the cake was too small for £4 (was very tasty though) i would not recommend for coffee but i am not sure about food. also, 60p for oat milk was a little excessive. chap who served us was lovely though

Booked a table on September 11th for lunch. An enjoyable 7 mile cycle ride got us there with 10 minutes to spare 😊👍. Greeted politely after which our table number ( 6) was pointed out to us. We both enjoyed our respective meals, both of which arrived promptly. Until next time 😊👍

We turned up for lunch with no booking. The staff were incredibly accommodating and managed to push some tables together. The food was fabulous, the service was 5 star, and the atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Would highly recommend this gorgeous little place by the water❤️❤️

Since we moved to the island in October we've been for lunch numerous times. They've just opened for dinner on a Friday until end of August so we tried it last week....booked again for tomorrow (July 14th). Fresh fish, crab with salads etc....Staff lovely, outlook...
