Salt Market Social in North Tyneside

This is a great venue with lovely staff, however, the Taylor Swift night was a complete flop with lots of people leaving early and the crowd sitting on the floor and refusing to move in protest. They've basically used Taylor Swifts name to cash in as the DJ played less Taylor Swift than any other artist and when she did eventually get round to playing Taylor, it was the same songs over and over again. I think Bad Blood came on 4 or 5 times. It was dreadful. Everyone was annoyed. This event was nothing at all like what you see on Tiktok and other events with a Taylor act or compare on stage. The Taylor theme was basically a few paper masks left on tables. 2 masks per table of 6-8. They put some purple tinsel streamers near the bar too. Drink prices were slightly on the expensive side but not too bad. Won't return for any future events.

We decided to visit Salt Market Social to attend Show Me Love. Day Party House Anthems. Great venue. Lovely staff. Great crowd. Event spoiled as the DJ wouldn’t know a house classic if it bit him on his bum. Dance floor was empty for first three hours of a six hour event. We endured cheesy eighties and nineties pop music. Including Wig Field, Kylie Minogue and other dreadful pop music. The DJ clearly did not know the genre. He built no momentum and loads of people left early. We gave up the ghost at 6 pm. Such a shame as we were looking to visit again in two weeks for the Trance Classics but if it’s the same DJ he won’t have a clue. Sort this out Salt Market Social you have a great venue and great staff but a DJ who clearly does not understand how to work a crowd or understand the brief A crowd who were desperate to dance. Really disappointed. I feel you totally missed sold this event which we travelled 40 miles for

Went tonight 9 February 2024 didn't know what to expect as hadn't been previously. Got there with a friend before opening time but they let us in as weather was bad. Everyone very friendly and welcoming. Met the manager who was awesome who chatted with us for a while and made us feel welcome. What a fabulous entertaining night would highly recommend going for events. I have no hesitation I recommending this venue and I certainly will be back.

Mamma Mia night with my 91-year-old mam, who is a massive Abba fan and loves the Mama Mia films. Hats off to Sherene and her team who looked after my Mam who has mobility issues. There was a lift into the venue and Sherene went out of her way to make sure my mam was comfortable and able to enjoy her night. She got VIP treatment, Sherene got her a lovely comfy chair and sat her close to the loos for easy access. She even made her a free cup of tea. (when they only serve alcohol on an evening) . Mam had the time of her life and the staff made this a special memory for us to treasure forever. Thank you so so much! Ps We took some fab photos in your photo booth.

We booked the venue for my sons engagement party…we met with Cherine who was an absolute star from making the arrangements all the way through to the party The place is decorated so cool and on trend it lent itself perfectly to our “Mexican” evening. The catering from “El Kantina” was incredible, tasty, authentic and plentiful. The mariachi band was incredible Everyone loved the evening and then the staff cleaned everything away too!!! A brilliant night!!!!

Been tonight to see lost voice guy who was good, even better if I could see him. They tell you to get in early and promise loads of street food. What a joke, 1 super inflated place was open, no more! They said happy hour 5-6.30, the only happy people were the bar owners. Coining it in. Could not hear the act, sound was awful n they had 2 get a man out of audience to help them out! Absolute joke! Never ever again n that would be tooo soon

A nice venue with plenty space & a friendly atmosphere. We visited all pints east beer festival. The food was great & had a few different choices plenty of stalls to try the many beers on offer as well as seating to eat at. Live music was also on the entertain.

Brilliant night. Been a looong time since I have enjoyed such an exuberant atmosphere. Music was brilliant and everyone was dancing their little socks off. Highly recommend

Great night Great venue - bit different this place which is really refreshing. Bar had plenty of good beers n that and my food was canny. Music was as it said on the tin "Motown and Soul" and good to get the dancing shoes on again for me and wor lass. Bonus with this place it's a good place and space to dance especially after all the time we've been told to sit in "covid pig pens". Just actually seen a previous review as well....Mate I think you were in the wrong place or something! Anyway love the place and looking forward to going to another one of their nights sometime soon. Went to the soul night. Overpriced food (£18 for one chicken burger and two portions of chips. Only one vendor so no alternative choice. Was advertised as soul food, which burgers are not. I've seen better discos at schools than the one here. Was advertised as motown and northern soul, a bit of motown 2 predictable northern soul tracks (do I love you and the snake). And who told the DJ he could DJ, constantly cutting records off part way through. Sometimes playing two records at the same time. 50% was just 70s disco music. Really disappointing evening. Stayed 2 hours hoping it would get better, but it didn't. Ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Waste of £5 per person entry fee.

Had a great evening at the Salt Market Social for my retirement from work. Some of my party had food which they said was very good.

Been here a few times now and it never disappoints! Lovely food and drinks. The staff are great and overall it’s just a fab place to go. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back!😁

❌SALT MARKET SOCIAL❌ It’s a no for us. Great idea - very poorly executed. I’m always happy to post and tag businesses in posts when I’ve had a good experience, and usually just tell the venue if something wasn’t great. But man this REALLY wasn’t great! Booked well in advance and had to give my card details as they’d take £10 per head on the event of a no show. Arrived on time but…… ❌20 mins later booking app for food and drinks shut by venue as too busy. ❌Queued over 20 mins to get a drink (2 tills for a whole warehouse!) and then to get tokens for food. ❌Out of 5 food stalls 1 wasn’t even open when we arrived, 1 stopped serving at 8pm as too many orders, the burger joint had run out of meat(!), and the chicken joint had run out of gas for their cooker. Told by staff that it was due to the large number of walk ins they’d had (it was half full and we had booked our table). ❌We managed to buy one burger for two of us but told to buy other things on the app (which was down). ❌9:30pm still no joy with any food so we asked for a refund - we were given £27 when we had paid £33 (plus taxis to get there and back costing £24) and were given a ‘free’ bottle of Prosecco as an apology. ✅Left (along with lots of other tables) and had a lovely meal elsewhere.

What a little gem! From the outside you're not quite sure what to expect but inside its perfect for the 120 + guests that joined an evening party for our daughters wedding. The staff couldnt do enough for us, decorations were sorted, food options were great, music was brilliant, anything they could do to make the night a success they did. Thankyou to everyone there that helped make a great day fabulous!

Had a great day out. The drinks and food are lovely and will 100% be back. The selection of IPA is great and cocktails are Lovely. Service was great and all covid safe. The only downside is the smell of cooked food is over powering defo needs some improvement. Wouldn’t stop me from going again thou.

We thought this was a casual spot but the music was so loud we could barely talk to each other. The general look and feel f the place was good, and the food we had was OK. Bit disappointed after waiting so long to get to go.

Our host, Barney, and his team have ticked every box in this great addition to the fish quay. Setting the standard with covid control and accessibility the Salt Market Social is a safe and secure venue with something for everyone. Delicious food, great drinks, good vibes only. Can’t wait to go back!

An amazing addition to the North East independent leisure scene. Great street food selection, cracking beers and whilst 100% Covid safe adding the social to social distancing. Just a shame it’s only once a month.

Really cool open plan venue, loads of seating and super COVID friendly. A great range of food, with several stalls, and a ton of really tasty craft and locally brewed beers. Absolutely LOVED it! MUST GO!! And out dogs enjoyed it too ☺️
