Terrible lunch which greatly embarrassed me and my guest - wine was so off it was fizzy - red Pinot noir - our choice of main course (bavette steak) wasn’t available despite the fact that we were the only diners there. We were offered the port steak as an alternative. It was actually a chop that came (competently cooked as it happened) - card facilities were not available (always a very ominous sign of imminent restaurant death I have found) Oh dear oh dear

I booked for an evening business meeting having not been here before. On arrival the welcome was non-existent and I had to ask for the table to be cleaned and ask twice for another place setting to be laid. The food was very nice but the service was awful. They brought the main whilst the plates for the starter were still on the table which meant that we had to clear our own plates. The staff didn't top up the wine or water or offer us anymore drinks at any point. Such as shame. Could be a little tucked-away gem but failed on the basics...

I'd already been to Salt & Honey back in October 2016, shortly after they first opened, and was wowed by the delightful setting. So much so, that I gave a five star review. However, this time we were let down by incredibly slow (and confused) service. The restaurant was quiet on a Saturday afternoon (virtually empty, save for two other tables), we'd even phoned half an hour ahead to check it was OK to come (as the website said they close between 3pm-5pm) yet when we arrived and placed our order, we had an antagonising wait of almost 45 minutes for food. If things are running so slowly in the kitchen a restaurant can always offer a complimentary drink? We'd finished our juice and coffees (that had arrived quickly). 40 mins into our wait we ordered wine; we sampled the Chablis and decided to get a bottle. Then the waitress came back to us and said they were closing in 20 mins, implying that perhaps there wouldn't be time for this. To which we replied 'we still need to eat our food, which we have been waiting for'. When the food arrived it was fine. As others have said, Salt and Honey is lovely and quiet and would be a great place to while away some time with a coffee and a good book. It feels much more spacious than Manuka Kitchen, their sister restaurant in Fulham, which I've been to several times since Joseph opened it many years ago. But if you're hungry I recommend you wait until they sort out their slow service (and this was with a near-empty restaurant). Maybe they were short-staffed today, but looking through the other reviews my experience doesn't appear to be a one-off. It's a crying shame as the food, location and ambience is otherwise good.

Pretty restaurant with interesting menu we were recommended to visit so must be good sometimes. Flowers dying on tables in dirty water, Service terrible, slow, forgot juice and when reminded charges twice for it. Had to ask to order and where food was 40 minutes later. Filthy look when I asked for a coffee cup that wasn’t chipped. Cold milky scrambled egg on cold plate. Full English all cold, egg over cooked, toast hard and chalky. We left most of the food and queried bill on explaining our complaints to be told not the waiters fault.

The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was excellent - I had the butternut ,lemon grass and ginger soup which very tasty with a lovely zing. The brule was excellent and the pannacotta just about best ever. However, do check your check. The first one we got had almost all the meals from all the customers. Just a coincident, I am sure.

I booked a table of 6 for my mothers 80th Birthday on Saturday 20th January. Our table was at 12:30. We arrived and where seated in the front part of the restaurant. A summary of my experience is below: - Took the waiting staff close to 15 mins to bring 2 beers for myself and my brother after we ordered. - We ordered starter and main only to be told 10 mins later that they didn't have any Duck confit left - which was my mothers order. Why wasn't the waiter clear? - My mother re-ordered - Wagyu Bolognese - only to be told a further 10 minutes later there was only 1 portion of Bolognese left when 3 of us had ordered it. We of course said she could have it and myself and my brother would re-order. Again - why wasnt the waiting staff clear? - My wife and my other brother ordered the muscles and had to ask twice for a spoon to eat the broth - took a long time for the food to arrive - tables that arrived after us where served before us. - My sister-in- law's partially empty fizzy water was topped up with tap water which took close to 10 mins to resolve - food was good and of the usual standard but the standard of service was shocking In summary, most of my family lives in and around Paddington and we eat at Salt and Honey often, Cant say based on my experience I will return.

We were warmly welcomed to this quietly located bistro for brunch and had great expectations for our meal. Sadly we were disappointed. The yoghurt and plums were fine but for the next course the avocados were only just the right side of rotten...even the ones brought out when we complained were brown. The poached eggs were over done and the whole meal was cold. Our grandson disliked the blueberry pancakes too so all in all it was an expensive mistake. I have had the same items at a well known chain that were better cooked and tastier. Service was very low key. Whilst we waited for our food there was no waiter or manager in the restaurant and a couple of people came in, waited and walked out again. What a shame.

I turned up on a lovely sunny day mid morning, I was the only one in the restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant and it is a lovely quiet location. My order was taken promptly but I waited a long time for it despite being the only one in the restaurant. When it finally came it was wrong. I told them Ii ordered Eggs Florentine instead of Eggs benedict. They took it away but the waitress promptly informed me that I was mistaken. I refuted her (I remember clearly saying Florentine as I don't eat bacon) but she stood by saying I was wrong and walked off while I continued speaking to her, It puts you in a bad frame of mind when you are accused of lying and then aren't allowed to say your piece without a waitress walking half way across the room and forcing you to speak loudly (other customers had arrived by now)However, they did exchange it and it was delicious and hot and I had no complaints. Said waitress lingers about though and, she wasn't staring particularly at me but I did feel i had an audience. I was pretty happy to leave straight after my meal.

Fabulous find. Firstly the coffee is delicious which is extremely rare in London, one of the few places where coffee tastes like coffee and not burnt mud. Delicious and light pomegranate and elderflower mimosas! Wonderful wine menu; on our second visit for lunch today we had a lovely organic Pinot noir to accompany steak, and wagu beef and pesto pappardelle. The menu changes on a regular basis. The food is fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Lots of lovely bites and appetisers, such as bone marrow arrancini and goats cheese and rocket crostini. It's a really peaceful spot and the staff are welcoming, attentive without being over-bearing. A great spot for Saturday brunch too where you actually have a chance of getting a table, though if this was in a more commercial area I am certain this would not be the case (Next time I want to try the blueberry pancakes). Definitely will be returning on a regular basis. Having lived in London for over a decade, this is a real find.

Really interesting menu and not too long - often a good sign. The wagyu beef Bolognese was very tasty - I craved seconds! - and the sea trout was reported to be excellent. The saffron and manuka honey crème brulee was also notable. An excellent house white to go with all this too. A highly recommended venue - we'll be back for more!

This neigbourhood bistro was a rather pleasant surprise, but with room for improvement. The food was rather simple home-cooking with a little twist. Starters and main courses were quite good, but my saffron&manuka honey créme brulée for dessert was too hard and it lacked any taste of saffron and honey. The service was OK, but rather unexperienced and uneven. As an example, we were told by the waiter that the restaurant only served french cheese, because they lastad longer that english cheese. We never bother to question that foolish remark. A little more focus on the food and better educated service staff and this small bistro could become a gem.

Old world charm meets a modern menu. With so many options in London, I am so pleased that I found Salt & Honey! Much of British cuisine is fried, mashed or boiled or it is world ethnic, based on the diverse population. Salt & Honey is simply elegant preparation of seasonal food and fresh ingredients.I started with home cured salmon with cucumber. The plate that arrived was beautiful and included thinly sliced radish and watercress on top of cured salmon and coiled cucumber. For the main dish the server and I discussed the different fish on the menu and I select d the Bream which is in the Sea Bass family (as he informed me). He inquired about any food allergies or ingredient sensitivities and adjusted my meal as appropriate. The plate arrived with the same level of artistry as the starter. A beautiful fillet of Bream dressed in young asparagus tips, on top of fregoli , wild rice, samphire and clams in the shell. It was Absolutely Amazing! The Chef is worthy of fame and to have all of you who are in London, try his cuisine in this quaint and charming restaurant!

But what would make the experience 10x better, is if you did two things: 1. Please please please get rid of the paper napkins. So low budget. Get real cloth ones. 2. Please please please darken the room. Please shut off those bright LED lights that you are using to try and illuminate the art on the walls. Very distracting. Make it cozy. Right now it feels sterile. Create an atmosphere people want to sit at and enjoy. We will be back next time in the area once more. I hope to see these changes. Thanks.

I am seriously conflicted about writing a review for this restaurant mainly because I would like to go again. I joke, because this was a wonderful bistro. The menu is creative. There was a variety to choose from on the menu. Whether fish foul or beef, one will be able to find their choice and prepared in a manner they will enjoy. The taste of the food exceeds the expectations the menu sets. While there isn't a selection of different types of spirits, there is no need. Salt & Honey has gin gin gin and more gin. They have every type of gin one might choose to explore. If gin isn't your thing, the wine list will not disappoint. One will find it difficult to turn away from desert. Again, you will find several more selections than you'd hoped to tempt you into cheating on your diet.Last but not least nor underestimated. The service was excellent. The staff is personable, polite, responsive, and the kind of people you can look forward to seeing again after you've made this Bistro on of your favourite spots.

Maybe it was the company which was bright, engaged, and funny. Maybe it was the service: attentive, friendly but not intrusive. Maybe it was the food and wine. We had a brilliant, light mussel and cream dish for appetizer, I had the sea trout, done to perfection, crispy skinned yet moist fleshed with a sauce that complimented the fish. The wine was nicely advised, and opened to a nose of lemons and green apples with just a hint of flowers in the distance, and was appropriately dry and very tasty. All in all, we all had a great time. It is a smaller bistro, tucked away on a quiet street, and maybe dominated by larger establishments around it, but it was an excellent choice for a quiet dinner with good friends. It had a small but very enjoyable menu (at least as reported by all, and experienced by the writer). I would call it focused. We liked it a lot. We felt well served and well fed. It was pleasant and most enjoyable.

Erg lekker. De rekening viel allerzins mee. Een aanrader!!!!

We stopped in here without a recommendation because we had been to the same location several years ago, but it was a different restaurant back then. We were totally delighted. Try the Bavette Steak -- perhaps the best steak I've ever eaten. The service was extraordinarily attentive. It is a very small restaurant, good place for a date -- or in our case a 25th wedding anniversary celebration.

Early dinner with my family. Solid food and good service. \ The kids started with butternut soup which looked good. I had a tuna tartare which was good, but a little 1980's in presentation. For mains, the kids had a bolognese pasta which was hit. My wife and I had pork belly and cod, both of which was good. The glass pours of wine were generous and well selected. My only complaint is that some of them were a little oxidized. The seemed like they may have been open for a couple days. My advice for wine by the glass to ask which wines were opened that day.

We had a really nice dinner here. The food was all delicious and fresh. The waiters were very friendly. The wine was well priced. There aren't many good restaurants near Paddington so thus was a great find.

I visited Salt and Honey for a dinner with some girlfriends. It's an elegant and calm small restaurant. We ordered several starters and sides, and enjoyed each of them. The salmon starter was surely my favorite. A bit pricy for the portion sizes, but acceptable because of the high quality. Food very well flavored. I will try to come back soon.

Kleinschalig leuk restaurant!

I organised my 30th birthday dinner at Salt & Honey on a Saturday evening. We had 23 people attend and Salt & Honey went out of their way to contact me beforehand to make sure that everything would be well organised on the night and to ensure that all of the food offered on the set menu met everybody’s dietary needs. They organised one long table so everyone could be seated together and ensured that everyone was well looked after with drinks. The waiting staff were incredibly attentive and very polite and were very accommodating of our needs. If I was just dinning with a small group I would have regarded the food as stunning, but the standard for a group of 23 people was exceptional. The entrees were incredibly fresh and aesthetically pleasing, the mains were hearty and delicious and the desert was the perfect richness to finish the meal as well as appropriate for a birthday – kindly presented with candles and a delicious accompaniment of peanut butter cream. All of the recommended wines were a great match with the food. Salt & Honey will be a venue I will continue to visit and invite friends too (as well as recommend) time and again.

The pub across the road was fill fortunately and we stumbled on this place. The smell wofferling out the front door was enough to get us inside- a great decision. My wife had the hake and I had the pork belly with fries, all were absolutely delicious as was the creme bulee. The service was first class and the food arrived in a timely manner. Two glasses of Riesling and a coffee, bill 74 pounds. Highly recommend, best meal we have had since landing in the UK.

I'd recommend checking the menu before you go to Salt & Honey as this is one of those places that is so confident with their menu, there isn't much to choose from. With the limited vegetarian / fish dishes, you need to order a side or you'll leave hungry. Desserts aren't particularly great either but the staff are friendly.Judging by other diners, the meat dishes are very good.

Stumbled across this whilst at attending a conference near Paddington station. The décor is stylish and provides a cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and caring. The pomegranate Bellini's went down exceptionally well, coupled with the food and service we received all of which were amazing - especially as within our party we had various dietary requirements - Gluten and diary free and a vegan! But none of this was an issue and we had different interesting options to choose from. When the food arrived each selection both lived up to and exceeded our expectations. My colleagues are still talking about the delicious dishes they experienced!! Salt & Honey will definitely be going on my itinerary for my next visit to London!

I live in the area and finally got around to coming in for brunch. The eggs benedict and hash browns with avocado were just perfect. Portioned just right and eggs poached perfectly. The hollandaise sauce is DELISH. I was expecting shredded hash browns but they came out in chunks - different but really good. I will have to get the pancakes next time since someone else on TripAdvisor mentioned they were the best ever. Great little place to go if you are in the north Hyde Park, Paddington area.

We took a variety of dishes. The portion size varied and the cuisine was good but not memorable. However the staff were very efficient and well briefed about the menu. The restaurant was crowded with local patrons and the overall dinner was good but not perhaps the best value for the quality.

The service was very good. Staff friendly and attentive. However the food was a big disappointment. My husband ordered the burrata starter and it was about 2 teaspoons of cheese and a few garnishes - nothing else. The ham hock starter was very good and plentiful. However did not like their bread - a bit too sour. For the main, 2 of us had the daily fish which was dried out. It was supposed to be pan fried, but it did not look pan fried and looked like it had been sitting for a long time. It was very dry. The portion was also very small. The pork cheeks and pasta were good. We like to support local restaurants and we thought we would try this as something but sadly will not return.

My husband and I ate here early on a Saturday night. We had read about it here in Tripadvisor. It has a small front window and no signage that we were able to see, so we walked right past it. We then came back around and read the name on a menu in the window. I'm so glad we found it - it was amazing! The service was impeccable, and the food was so great! My husband had the burrata salad with the skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly. I had the beetroot salad with the roasted peppers entree. The flavors in both the salad and the peppers dish were delicious and unexpected. We finished our meal with the chocolate and honey truffles. This spot is a little hard to find, but is absolutely worth searching out! Definitely recommend.

Had brunch here on Sunday 13 March - we had a table for two next to the window so could people watch; it was really lovely. Service was delightful; the menu was varied and everything looked so good! Settled on the blueberry pancakes and a side of hash browns. It. Was. Amazing. I am an self-proclaimed American pancake connoisseur and these were in the top 3 of pancakes I've ever had, including my own. Actually, my own are quite crap in comparison now that I think about it. They were THAT GOOD.Bottom line, if you go there and don't eat the pancakes, you are seriously missing out.

Within a few minutes walk of Paddington station, this tiny bistro provides excellent and interesting food, served by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Dish of the day was braised lamb with celeriac puree and polenta. Intense flavours which complemented each other. starter was salmon home cured with lemon grass and honey. Small but well chosen wine list and the staff were attentive, but not pushy. It was remarkable value for this close to central London..

I went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago after hearing about a friends delicious birthday meal here. The area is in abit of no mans land with not too much around it other than a delicious small, humble and delicious restaurant. Salt & Honey appealed to me not only by the food that was on the menu but the simple interior and pricing level. We were in the front of the restaurant and surrounded by lots of young and cool people probably there for the same thing we were the well priced and delicious food. Our waiter was attentive and helpful in our choices. We started with Lemongrass and Manuka honey cured salmon as well as the Pickled and raw beetroot salad. The colours of both plates were as good as the taste. For Mains the Wagyu Beef bolognaise is a must. The fresh pasta and texture of the beef were not like any other i had tasted before. If you go here this has to be the first thing you order. Secondly the vegetarian options were interesting flavors. The atmosphere was fun and young, the location is quiet but the food is delicious and a must for London.

I wanted to love this restaurant based on its reviews but left feeling underwhelmed. Food was good, and it would be unfair to rate that negatively because all our dishes were executed well but service had a few hiccups in the end. We had issues with our bill being mixed up for another table's, needed to have it adjusted more than once and then it proved to be quite a challenge to receive a VAT receipt. This is London we're talking about and there's room for improvement in order to stand out from the crowd. Last impressions really count.

I've eaten at Salt & Honey three times over several months, solo, with a friend, and with a group. Each meal has been a pleasure, with attentive service and delicious food. The menu is not huge, but has nice variety. The servings allow for a starter and main without feeling over full. The wine and drink lists are well-chosen with a range of prices. It's a great place for a date night or for a family or friend group. It probably isn't great for small children just because the room is relatively small and the menu choices not geared to small fry. It's a great addition to the neighborhood.

Went for Sunday Brunch with my wife and seven year old son. Nice interior with a main floor, mezzanine, and lower level. Sat in nice booth on main floor. Very mellow Sunday morning atmosphere with cool music playing low in background on classic Harmon Kardon SoundSticks. Brunch menu food was terrific and hard to make a choice. My son had the blueberry pancakes with maple syrup which were fluffy and delicious with a side of perfectly cooked bacon. I had the courgette, parmesan, chilli scrambled eggs which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious; my wife ordered the Manuka honey cured salmon royal which was also utterly delicious. For dessert, we ordered the bitter chocolate and manuka honey truffles which were to die for and the panacotta which was also very good. The cappuccinos were excellent, made with specially chosen coffee beans. Service was friendly, prompt but still informal without any rush. The atmosphere was informal, mellow Sunday morning without no difficulty carrying on a conversation and being heard across the table. This could easily become our go-to place for Sunday Brunch, but can't wait to go back for lunch or dinner to try the rest of the enticing menu.

Absolutely adorable and amazing little place nestled near Hyde Park. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. While looking up a local place to where I was staying I found this place listed. This somewhat up-market neighbourhood bistro opened in late 2015, and is a welcome addition to an area which does not have much in the way of decent restaurants.Situated in a small cul-de sac, opposite a great pub (The Victoria), it is certainly small. But it is well laid out on three levels, one of which would provide a good semi-private area for a party of six to eight people. The ambience created is intimate and reasonably sophisticated, and thankfully there is no loud music. The menu, modern British, is relatively small (about eight to ten main courses), but there is sufficient variety to tempt most tastes. We found all the food interesting, well cooked and well presented. Likewise the wine list was short but well chosen and not outrageously expensive. The service was pleasant and knowledgeable. All in all a thoroughly good experience, and good value. The price worked out at about £45 a head, and we did not stint ourselves.
