Salt & Crust in Kirklees

Pizza's here are amazing and flavoursome but i've tried other menu options like the lamb chops, sizzlers and skins and they are really not nice and not worth the money.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a very disappointing experience, largely due to the behavior of a staff member named Inayat. From the moment we were seated, Inayat was rude and dismissive. The service was slow, and his attitude was unprofessional and unwelcoming. He seemed completely uninterested in engaging with us or offering any level of customer care. We felt ignored and uncomfortable throughout our visit. While the food was decent, the unpleasant interaction with Inayat left a bad impression and made me question whether I’ll return. I hope management addresses this issue to prevent future customers from having the same experience.

I have been here many times,as it is a firm family favourite, the food is consistently good, staff are always friendly and accommodating. The pizzas are so delicious that we always get an extra to takeaway for the next day. 😋. Worth driving the 40 mins to get there.

This is my families fave place. We try and visit every month from Leeds. They have a great selection on the menu for the whole family. Food is always spot on especially the prawns in sauce with the bread 😋 the service is always good. Cannot fault them in any way

Really disappointed brought my son for his birthday delivery driver parked so close to my car couldn’t even get out asked him to move slightly and he was so rude had no respect that I was coming to eat here with my family instead he was just being disrespectful what a waste of time

Ordered the liberty burger, manhattan burger, and a piece of chocolate fudge cake. Food was gorgeous and delivered quickly. Always very noce food from salt and crust, highly recommend.

Exceptional food! Only started coming here recently and I've really loved the garlic bread and cheese as it's so nice and garlicky with the wood fired pizza base, it's a solid 10/10! The pollo ala crema chicken breast with a peppercorn and mustard sauce was also very nice. Would give that a solid 9/10!

Went here on a sat afternoon with my husband and daughter the food was amazing ,it all came freshly cooked presented nice .the milkshake was fabulous my daughter got will definitely go back again highly recommend

I've been here a few times and the food and service is always 10/10. Our waitress yesterday was exceptional. The pizzas are absolutely delicious, try the Mumbai pizza. You will not be disappointed!

Been using Salt & Crust for a few years now. Amazing food with brilliant service. Definitely worth the visit, never had a bad meal from this establishment.

I do not recommend Delivery "takeaway" because is very mess, it's better to eat inside i guess. The salad I received didn't match what was advertised on the menu, tomato was a not cheery tomato, missing basil leaves just.. pesto. Also, I was surprised to find no vegetarian salad options available, which limited my choices. The driver was not very friendly, I guess he also didn't care how the food was delivered because the sauces inside were open. Hamburgers and fries very tasty, I recommend trying them but on site. Although the price for a burger is exaggerated for delivery.

New York pizza in unreal. Bit weird when you’re sat in though.. I felt out of place & it’s nothing to do with the restaurant. Asian women were waited to be seated & were shown where to sit but would not sit on a table next to a white man sat with his partner?

Lovely little restaurant. Visited today with friends. Staff are great and the food is amazing! The 3 others had the chicken burger. I had the Yankee, which is a burger with brisket and chicken on a brioche bun. They all came with fries. The bill for the 4 of us including drinks was £45 Absolutely well worth the trip from Manchester.

Our favourite place to eat out locally. Every single item on the menu is a winner and just hits it out of the park. I usually get the Chicken Shashlik which is to die for. Atmosphere is great and the staff make a fuss of our young son. The desserts are incredible. The only negative is the parking of which there is very little but easily remedied by parking up the next street and walking down.

Not great. For Lambcetta, read donner meat, that was all I could taste. Cheese looked to be cheddar not mozzarella. It was more Turkish than Italian. Not sure they are stone backed in a wood stove either…..unlike any other wood fired pizza I’ve ever had.

I recently had the unfortunate opportunity to dine at Salt & Crust. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted not by the warm embrace of hospitality but by the stifling atmosphere of overpriced mediocrity. As I settled into my seat, it became increasingly clear that the staff had more of an interest in socialising than serving. Our server, a figure who seemed all too comfortable in their own arrogance, barely acknowledged our presence. When we sought recommendations, their response was a brusque wave of disinterest, as if we were imposing on their time. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt rushed and ignored, as if we were merely another part of the moving furniture. To add to our discomfort, the volume of the music was so high that engaging in conversation became an exercise in futility. With every pulsating beat and shrill song drowning out the clatter of dishware, our attempts to connect over our meal were met with frustration and distraction. It was an experience reminiscent of a party, rather than a refined dining experience, leaving little room for savouring the food we barely wanted to indulge in. Speaking of the food, I can only describe it as pedestrian at best and atrocious at worst. Each plate came with a price tag that indicated it should be an artful feast, yet what we received failed to elevate even the simplest palate. Dishes were disappointing and served with an undeniable air of urgency—an hurry to get us in and out, as though the restaurant was perpetually on the brink of closing despite us dining in what was purportedly their peak hours. In retrospect, I can’t help but feel that Salt & Crust is a manifestation of style over substance. With its rude, arrogant, and uninterested staff flinging substandard offerings at us in a cacophony of sound and rushed service, it’s difficult to understand how they hold any hope for longevity in the competitive culinary scene. If you're looking for a dining experience that values quality and customer experience, I'd recommend casting your net book in a different part of the culinary sea.

first time I've tried this takeaway and I'll definitely be ordering again. I had tagliatelle and some hassleback potatoes and it was a dream. it was the best food I've had outside an Italian restaurant, and better than some of those too. couldn't have expected any more.

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint. Plenty to choose from on the menu. Food was good quality and really tasty. Good value for money based on the portion size and quality of food. Definitely recommend and will be coming back!

I recently visited Salt and Crust in Batley, and it was an absolute disappointment from the moment I walked in. The restaurant was dirty, old, and poorly maintained. The chairs and tables were stained and filthy, with cobwebs on the legs of the chairs. The sauce bottles looked like they had never been washed, and the cutlery was stained and dirty—I felt uncomfortable sitting down, but I was starving. We started with the WTF garlic bread, which was surprisingly nice and flavorful, but unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. For mains, we had the lasagne and mixed sizzler. The lasagne was watery, bland, and drenched in oil, served on a filthy plate that made it look completely unappetizing. There was also a hair on the serving plate. The mixed sizzler was just one big mess—no actual flavor, just meat marinated in chilli powder, with soggy chips soaked at the bottom and bland, stodgy rice. The chicken and lamb tasted only of soy sauce and chilli powder, lacking any real seasoning or flavor. The whole place needs a serious revamp, including new furniture and clean cutlery. I won't be returning until this restaurant makes some major improvements.

I'm leaving you guys a five star review as my cab driver yesterday was one of the staff. One of the most lovely chaps I've had the please of speaking to and told me how the three brothers formed sald and crust. I will be looking forward to ordering from you guys soon. 💙

I've been coming here for years, when it was called Godfather before, but it's still the same amazing place that does a mixture of great food. Food that you want to eat, and food that tastes good. The Pizzas are really good here, and you can't go wrong with anything off the menu. We had the sizzlers, a burger, and some Pizzas. In the past we've had the kebabs, calzone, pasta and starters. All really lovely.

Nice tasty food especially the pizzas. Left very disappointed when we was charged wrong but followed too the car to come back inside and rectify it. Your staff shouldn't be giving out the wrong bills in the first place. Not happy.

Went went on a Saturday at about 13:00 and there were plenty of tables. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was varied, interesting and very enjoyable. We will be going again.

If I could give a zero star review I would. The food was awful and when staff were informed they were not sympathetic at all! Instead they were condescending and started giving us cooking lessons. We enquired about the pasta before ordering and was told it was creamy white pasta however when it came it was plain in a buttery oily yellow liquid. They charged us the full amount when nothing was ate and they refused when we sent food back. Prior, we informed we would like to change the order however they refused insisting that it was “just the way they make it”. Staff also made us feel very unwelcome and made sly comments as they watched us eat. Would not normally leave reviews at all but have not been to a place as insipid as this. If you want to enjoy your food and have a pleasant experience this is not the place to come. Will be making a call to the Food Standard Agency! Vile! I am not a Karen nor have I ever left a review however this place was unacceptable.

Everything was really nice except one dish, the capresse salad was horrible, drowning in oil and peso really not good. But Liberty burger was rocking as usual, chips cold and soggy but chips are hard to travel well, nachos some of the best takeaway nachos going, cake and Churros really nice 👌 just really disappointed with capresse

Hosnestly the best burger i had in the UK

Very unreliable staff. I phoned them to place an order, tried multiple times as the line was busy. When finally someone answered, the man on the phone told me that will take my order in a minute and put me on mute. I waited 6 minutes and he never took my order hence I hang up and tried to phone back again. The line was yet again busy all the time. They just lost loyal customer. Absolutley shocking customer service.

We’ve been here many times before. This time we drove over an hour to salt & crust just because we really fancied it. The service was atrocious. We brushed it off, thought it was just a slow start when we arrived but god NO. The whole experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. We asked about 3 times to place our order, we had young children and needed to get some food into them before they got really hungry. After they finally got our order, there was about 2 tables that arrived after us, these guys got their food served well before us. We had a very standard simple order. Our food finally started to come out, they missed a dish out - a kebab dish which then took another 20 mins to arrive. Waiters are walking around saying ‘table 7 is this yours’ ‘table 10 is this yours’ - there is no table numbers, how are we supposed to know what table we are?! Staff should know where food is going out to. The last straw - we asked if we could pack half the food we didn’t eat. They told us they’d pack it for us - we waited 10 minutes - no sign of the food. At this point we were told our bill was ready and to go to the till, my husband paid for the food while I got the kids in the car. We only realised we weren’t given the food after we’d set off home. We turned around - literally 5 mins back to the restaurant and they’d binned the food. No apology, no offer of partial refund. £50 in this economy is a lot. I’m actually devastated. We loved this place but unfortunately the service is non existent and the food has also lost its spark. We won’t be back.

Piri Piri King Prawns in sauce with cheese bread, lamb chops and chicken wings absolutely delicious. Definitely try the mango mojito. A great recommendation by one of the locals whilst visiting the area.
