Ordered a donner pizza which I've realised is next to nothing and hawiian yet so caked in chilli when I said I was allergic it's caked in chilli...oh the spicy kind.

Pizza was cooked from fresh and mozzarella sticks were nice 👍

Don't know when you changed the oil but needs doing don't know what you think chips are but what I got was not chips and my cats would not even eat the fish will not be getting anything from you again

Such a shame , was hoping for a positive change but not to be. First the staff member could not work the card machine ( maybe new to them?) , I then stated my order 3 times, noticed the chap was still including salad when i asked for just meat ( the guy then told me I had asked for it , sigh was hoping 3 times repeating my order was enough), God knows how when I waiting 10 mins for him to hear up the donner meat but the donner meat was cold by the time I got home which is 25meters away from the shop! Also £11.90 for what is in the photo ( a large??? mental!! I hate to think how much you get in a small or medium ! , Helston grill for me from now on for sure!

Thought we'd give Pizza Plus a chance after the horrific history of Salt and Vinegar but unfortunately it was not good at all. The sweetcorn on the pizzas was so sour and discoloured it was inedible - definitely gone off. Doner meat was burnt to a crisp. Good price but unfortunately had to throw two 15" pizzas in the bin after one mouthful. Absolutely awful. Such a shame.

Horrible food, horrible people. Don’t bother. Tried to ‘reinvent’ themselves saying that it was a new team - all lies. Disgusting place.

Pizza plus helston (former salt and vinegar) are absolutely disgusting, never go there again My youngest son placed an order with them for £21:50 order never arrived, tried ringing them lots no answer. So he left it thinking he’d get a refund……..Nope!!!! I just rang them the boss was very unhelpful and disrespectful saying go through his bank to get a refund refused to refund my boy. What an absolute joke!!!!! Don’t even deserve a 1 star to be honest but I had to put something to write my review

This establishment does not exist and ceased trading 3 weeks ago. Despite this the website let me make an order drove 25 mins for no food, however looking at recent reviews it looks like we escaped some vile food.

I went to salt & vinegar for a takeaway ,I had fish & chips the fish was very nice I had a medium size crispy batter the chips we also very nice small chips but a lot of them ,my partner had chicken nuggets & chips again a big portion , friendly staff parking is difficult out side on the main road but there is a paid car park just a short distance from the main street

Had fish and chips the chips really greasy like the oil hadn't been changed for a while. Also the fish was flat as pancake really hard as was so over cooked really disappointed and for the price absolute rip off. Tasted like the fish had been in microwave. Awfull

Very disappointed. Had to wait over 40mins for really poor food. It wasn't busy so we think they just forgot about us even though we waited inside. Battered sausage portion size was a joke. It's the smallest sausage I have ever seen. Very greasy chips. Got two of the meals wrong and made no effort to explain why we had to wait so long. The chicken meat was borderline revolting, very over cooked and the mushy peas were still frozen. I don't think I have ever had a meal where so much was wrong. Wasn't cheap either.

Go catch your own fish and avoid 40 mins wait. Chips very greasy and full of bits. Very disappointed.

Horrible food chips half cooked food often cold

Fish so old it was older then my Nan!! Burger was burnt and frozen chips. If your not going to try then just sell up lads.

Literally the worst kebab shop I’ve ever visited. Can I have a 12 inch pizza? No we’ve ran out? Kebab with chilli sauce no chilli sauce. No we have no sauce. Can I just have a portion of 10 chicken nuggets for my 9 year old daughter? Yea here’s what we got. The kebab had mouldy bread also and no chilli sauce as they’d ran out. The prices on the board do not reflect what they charge you on the till also. My bill should have been £20.50 he charged me 24 and argued with me saying his til is the correct prices. He then plays stupid like he doesn’t speak proper English.

Used to be good, but my recent two experiences have been useless so not going to order again Ordered over the web for delivery they took the money then came back with a text saying they were out of one of the items and had cancelled the order, money to be refunded in 3 to 5 days Went back on and ordered something else, again took money and gave me an hour and half eta on the food. (Cheeseburger and chips & only 3minute drive from the shop) Waited two hours then phoned them only to be told that order too had been cancelled as again no stock so nothing was coming. My advice stick to helston grill, never had a bad experience in about 12 years of using

Had next to no food in , charged £10 for chips and gravey and cheese chips and beans , had to wait about 20mintues even know shop was empty and then they passed it knotted up in carrier bag I asked for forks so we could eat as was 10 miles away from site and they had no forks no salt and vinegar witch is they name ffs . Get drive all the way back so could eat the food to find out its bloody fries not chippy chips , and was very scabby burnt beans lumpy gravey this place need shutting down honestly its a food scam

Ordered a regular portion of chips which were priced up at £3.50, charged me £4.50 when I questioned it I was told sorry prices have changed as I was in need of something to eat I paid the £4.50 expecting lovely chips I was wrong they were overcooked cold french fries. I won't be going back again.

Our first night in Cornwall and we fancied a chippy and this was the only place open, we really wished we hadn't bothered, as this is by far the worst takeaway food we have had. It took around half hour just for a portion of chips and gravy even though the shop was empty. When we did finally get our food we was disappointed that the chips were not even chippy chips, more like frozen undercooked fries, with gravy so lumpy and was more like jelly, what a waste of £10 for food that you couldn't eat!

Was really disappointed with eveything from here tonight, food took about 50 minutes, was poor quality food and the staff weren't extremely rude to another customer after the staff had made a mistake with his order. Worst of all we saw staff stick their finger in a half cooked pizza, I'm assuming to test the temp which is quite frankly disgusting!

One off the worst take outs I’ve ever had, was stood around for about 1 hour waiting for a pizza. To check the temperature I saw the person stick his finger in the middle off the base then put it back in. One customer came in to pick up his food and it had been given to somebody else when I finally got my pizza was definitely not worth the wait as it was horrible . Would not recommend

I ordered cod & chips for home delivery. The chips were overcooked & the fish - well - limp & with no batter. I rang up to complain & they said they would replace them which they did 2 hours later & just as bad & furthermore they only take cash now. Will never use them again but stick to Morrishes who are unbeatable for both value & service & lovely crisp batter which is how fish & chips should be so be warned.

Food is absolutely disgusting, service is just as bad, 1 hour 30 mins for 2 soggy, disgusting looking excuses for fish. Chips were just cheap over chips thrown in a frier. another time we ordered we waited well over 2 hours to then be told on the phone (after WE rang up btw) that they had no ingredients so were going Tesco to get them! DO NOT GO HERE!

Food took over an hour and a half to arrive was cold dry and foul scared to eat the rest as it would definitely make us so ill 🤢 and would only get rushed off the phone when calling about our food and by looking at the reviews I’m not surprised by the service of this place. Do not waste your money.

We ordered food here with around a 30/40 minute wait wait wait even though there was no one in there food was ok…..

Chips were good but had to sit and wait in store for 1hr 20mins from payment to food being ready. I only ordered for 4 people. The wait wouldn't have bothered me had I been informed it would take so long as I could have gone elsewhere and come back. When I queried how much longer it would be after an hour I was told by one member of staff that they were doing it now and the other member said quite aggressively that "there are only two of us working". I was given a 330ml can of lemon Fanta on the house to apologise for the wait (which I know they didn't have to do) but comparitively my old local used to give a free 2L bottle on the house on orders over £35. Overall, the food was ok and the pricing pretty standard but the wait and some of the staff attitude was awful. I doubt I'll be back in a hurry.

Waited 2 hours and 15 minute for our order, the chips looked over cooked but were very sort. The battered sausage was watery and mushy in the middle. My partner binned his as the grilled chicken burger seem old and stale and very over done. I will never waste my money at salt and vinegar again.

Food took nearly 2 hrs Mushy peas were missing Chicken nuggets were not freshly cooked, they were rubbery.

Misinformation on website says they open at 11:30 but don’t actually deliver or allow you to collect until 17:00. Tried calling Multiple times but no one and answers very bad !!

I've just got back with my order. Placed online and still sat and waited an HOUR while other people came and went. 3 staff in there milling around looking like they weren't sure where they were. It's gone straight in the bin. Soggy fish. Chips were so oily they were inedible. Absolutely revolting. I'll never EVER go any where near that place again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

poor kebabs all burnt … Should never ever go here and most of it the attitude of the salesman is too bad that he wont even bother to come out and take your order… dont know he just did this with me or its his working style only… A big big no to this shop… Worst customer service❌❌

Waited 55 minutes for delivery and was very disappointed. Kebab had 10 strands of dry doner meat, no salad and burnt pitta. Pizza was greasy and to top it off, my husband and I have been visiting the toilet as a tag team! Will not be back!!

This used to be our favourite chip shop. It used to be top quality, but now it seems the owners have changed and the food is significantly worse. We will not be going back.

Order took over 3 hours to arrive. Chips had dried out completely and tasted stale. Fish bites chewy. Sent coke instead of orange juice, sent pickled onion instead of pickled egg. Phoned twice to chase and told it was on its way. Food finally arrived at 11.15 pm… another hour after phoned the last time.

Waited a hour and half for 2 small chips.1 halloumi burger and a chicken fillet burger. Chips were stone cold and mainly crunchy, halloumi bugger has gone down on size and definitely 6oz! As for the chicken bugger…. It was so spicy it was hard to eat, it was suppose to be a plain fillet bugger! I don’t even think they offer a spicy chicken burger on the menu! . This place has been going down hill lately but we thought we would give it another go. What a mistake that’s twenty quid wasted! Definitely will not be going there again!

35 minutes wait even though the shop was empty! Ordered 1 regular and 1 large cod and chips, however both the same size and not many chips at all. I had a small stone stuck to one of my chips! Everything was disgusting. Skin on the cod. We used to visit monthly. Will not be visiting again.

Our recent visit to the alleged fish and chip haven, Take Away in Salt and Vinegar Helston, was a culinary escapade that left much to be desired. Despite a mere 2-mile proximity in Porthleven, our enthusiasm for what we anticipated to be a delightful meal quickly waned. A bewildering 35-minute wait in a seemingly deserted spot set the stage for disappointment. Upon arrival at home, the excitement of unwrapping our long-awaited feast was short-lived. The large cod, a pitiful assortment of curled-up fish fragments, failed to match the grandeur its name implied. Soggy chips added insult to injury, and the mushy peas, both minuscule and watery, were an affront to this traditional side dish. Regrettably, our order was incomplete—like a fish out of water, missing a portion of chips and the essential mushy peas. This oversight, coupled with the less-than-appetizing quality of the fare, made the steep price tag all the more difficult to stomach. Despite this culinary letdown, the veggie burger managed to salvage a shred of dignity, offering a mediocre respite from the disappointment that surrounded it. In the interest of fairness, I'll be uploading photos to provide a visual context for the lackluster experience, but as it stands, I find it hard to endorse Take Away in Salt and Vinegar Helston. In my book, it's a one-star affair—missing elements, overpriced, and a far cry from the gastronomic satisfaction one would hope for.

Went on website, ordered halloumi burger, cheeseburger, and one large portion of cheesy chips. Hour and a half later nothing arrived. Called to chase order to be told very abruptly they don’t do halloumi anymore. Guy said he’d been calling to tell us but couldn’t get hold of us. Afraid the bottom line is if it’s not something that’s available anymore - don’t have it on the menu. If a customer orders something and pays for it - should be delivered. Pretty simple. Asked for refund, and was told no because half the order was ready. The half order was then delivered barely warm. And to top off, no cheese on the chips as ordered either. Won’t be returning which is a shame as food used to be good. Waiting to see if refund for halloumi burger (nearly £10) will materialise. UPDATE: when I checked my phone the morning after I had just ONE missed call, with no voicemail left. So what was the plan? Just take my money and don’t bother delivering anything… oh and the refund for the halloumi burger? Never got it. What a surprise. Terrible customer service, avoid!

With giving a food HYGIENE of zero who would want to EAT THERE

Ate from here tonight I can definitely say that it’s the best chippy in helston. The staff are very friendly and I watched them cook my order fresh. Would highly recomend

We've been using this place for a long time and couldn't praise it highly enough but recently its been absolutely terrible. Gave them the benefit of the doubt after the first let down as they've been so good. Last night we had fish and chips, turned up 2 and a half hours later, chips weren't cooked through, fish was hard and the batter was black! Sorry but we won't be using you again, the standard has gone down so much its frightening to think what we might get next time and I'm not willing to gamble £30/£40 on treating the children when it's nowhere near a treat!

What happened? This WAS by far the best fish & chips in Helston. I won't be a returning customer. So disappointed again.

We would order from here once every 3-4 weeks and only ever once had a problem with the delivery, the food was always very good so we let it slide as mistakes happen but on receiving our order this evening a soon as we opened up the pizzas and fish and chips we knew something was different! The pizzas were burnt on the base and were very greasy with the cheese having a funny texture and rather than green peppers as ordered both had green chilli peppers also the fish and chips were very greasy with none crispy batter on the fish, the curry sauce rather than the usual thick flavoursome sauce was watery and full of lumps and some chips not cooked through! Googled them only to find out new owners had taken over early November so that explains the changes. Such a shame!

Please do not go by the reviews from 2years ago.. and do not order here! Definitely not a large chicken shish.. or chips and the curry sauce is like water with no flavour. Rang to ask if they’d mistakenly sent a small as certainly didn’t seem large.. Was told “there’s 10 pieces of chicken in it…LOVE” when there was definitely not!! So obviously their customer service is just as good as their food!! I never review but honestly please do not waste your money.

We found it expensive, the chips were not fully cooked. We asked for large peas and large gravy but they were the smallest cartons I've ever seen. The gravy was cold and like jelly , the 12 ounce burger was not 12 ounces , also cheap quality meat. Staff very polite but £30 for a chippy meal that we didn't eat. We won't be returning.

Really good food, was a little slow so we hot a free slaw, but it was worth the wait. Only stopped there because out usual place was closed, this was actually better.

We called in here after visiting the cinema, we don't live local but are holidaymakers. The food seemed a little expensive on some items (compared to where we are from) but the quality warrants it. The food was beautiful and you can tell its fresh produce used, we ordered the XL mixed donner with salad and a small portion of chips they were proper chips not the frozen rubbish some places offer and the salad on the kebab was very fresh, the portion sizes were very very good. Myself and my Husband shared this meal and there was plenty for us. The staff where friendly and helpful and the chef was a lovely gentleman and gave us a free naan on the house. We would definitely recommend and come again if we are ever in the area.

Well thats the first time I've ever had proper fish and chip shop chips with a kebab, and fantastic kebab meat at that, and a thick flaky piece of fish with crispy batter, delicious hand made salad and coleslaw, enjoyed the whole meal, even given a free pot of sauce and a carton of juice fot my babe, highly recommend 👍

Waited over 3 hours for my food and was told delivery driver was on the way and then half an hour later I called again and they still hadn’t left. Asked for a partial refund and then they hung up the phone on me. Disgusting service. Should rethink their staff choices or train them in proper customer service.

We were for in Cornwall for two weeks and stopped in after leaving Flambards and had a craving. This was the only chippy open. Our food was cooked to order, no issue for us. Wife had the cod bites and chips which there was plenty of, fish was very nice and the chips great also. Not covered in grease after eating. Nice place and plenty on the menu. Shame you can’t deliver up the Shropshire guys 😂👍🏼

Our first night in Cornwall we ordered large cod & chips & mushy peas plus small cod & chips & curry sauce, we Got small cod and chips & mushy pease and ONE cod gougeon that you would give a child! No chips or curry sauce!It was £25 ! Plus on their way to deliver we're told it would be another £6 for where we were, the delivery guy gave us back the £6 cash when I asked for it back but the shop should have given us at least another £15 back, but nothing after numerous e mails! Wish we'd gone elsewhere!

I hate to be a pain but I don’t think it takes 1 hour to make a large doner kebab put it in a box and deliver it freezing cold. It’s great that a small business is doing well and that the food is good but they don’t seem to have a delivery system in place or someone who is able to answer when a delivery is due in English.

As far as kebab shops go this one is pretty damn good. Food very tasty and nicely priced. Beat getting food on the holiday park hands down. The guy serving was friendly and fast.

How many stars does this place deserve? After a long, tiring, rainy day, they saw me walking in (glad that it was open at that time), cold, starving, carrying my heavy backpack and what did they do? Instead of large, made everything extra-large for me. Kebab and chips. It was the exact kindness and warmth touch my day needed!! And the food? Omg delicious. I still dream about going back to Helston just to eat that kebab again!! Thank you guys for your consideration and care with me ❤️ you made my day yesterday!! I can never thank you enough!!

Arrived late. Ordered chicken nugget meal, lamb kebab and fish and chips. I was really impressed that they could grill my fish rather than have it battered. We had to wait but it was worth it. We really enjoyed all of our meals. Thank you 😊

Dined in, fish n chips were spectacular, great portion but more importantly hardly any trace of oil left from the crispy batter and perfectly cooked chips. I think this guy is a master fryer.

Ordered large cod and chips and so that I could meet the delivery I ordered can drink. Came on time but got 2 small fish and no drink. I gave £6 pound tip before I knew. Won't use this chippy again I'll use Hutchinsons in future.
