Smiles and a lovely welcome at this wonderful bakery/cafe as soon as I walked in the door. A real throw back to an old fashioned neighbourhood cafe with quality food and great energy/vibe - great for a quick coffee with a treat, or something more substantial with tasty healthy options on offer also. Thank you :)

We love Sally and her team. But most of all we love her food. This week I’ve enjoyed one of her delicious sausage rolls (I’m not usually one for hyperbole, but I think they are possibly the best sausage rolls I’ve ever eaten). I’ve also had three different quiches and five or six different salads - all absolutely delicious. The quality of the ingredients is superb. On Friday I treated myself to a banoffee cheesecake brownie. I can’t begin to describe how gooey, rich, chocolatey and delicious it was. The orange and hazelnut ones are also amazing. No wonder there’s normally a queue.

The sausage rolls are wonderful! However, I bought one today (not necessarily cheap) and it was half the size it was before. What happened? I suggest you address this as soon as possible otherwise you will loose customers who know what they were like. They're yummy so please make them bigger again! Thanks!

We feel the same as some of the other reviewers about Sally White - great food let down by poor service! Went today to pick up some of their delicious quiche and a sausage roll for lunch. Two young women were on duty but we waited outside for ten minutes in the rain while one of them fiddled with the coffee machine and the other sat eating her lunch. No greeting or apology and an indifferent shrug when we asked about the quiche. We’re glad to see the business appearing to thrive during the COVID restrictions but come on guys why the attitude? - a smile costs nothing and would make the world of difference to the experience of your customers!

The cafe was recommended to me by people living on Kennington Road, as a local favourite of theirs. I visited on a January lunchtime and saw through the window, as I approached, a splendid looking selection of homemade European comfort foods: sausage rolls, quiches, salads, cassoulet... There was a queue, which quickly dispersed and I was shown to a table for one, where I happily sat, absorbing the relaxed yet professional atmosphere. Whilst my order was prepared for me. The cassoulet and two salads were delicious! The coffee and cake were wonderful! In fact I bought two more cakes, to share with my friends, later. I told the young lady who took my well spent money that I would review their Sally White cafe, on Trip Advisor and I am very pleased to have done so! Another good thing: after lunch, across the road, I caught a bus to Trafalgar Square and visited the National Gallery. Kennington Road is not far, from London's hub!

I was very pleased when Sally Whites reopened although it might have been the opportunity to make a few welcome changes. I've been a customer for two or three years now and, without fail, every time I leave here it is with a feeling of slight disappointment. Its not the food; the food is consistently great albeit, as others say, a little pricey. It is the staff who are a problem. They are dismissive and often plain rude. I have never had friendly service, more looks of disdain. I know I am not alone in feeling this way. Surely there are lots of other folk willing to work there who might actually enjoy giving customer service. Just a thought.

This is a strange place. The food is delicious, original and tastes home-made. Great atmosphere but only a few tables so it's really a take-away place. Therefore really expensive (a piece of quiche, small side salad and piece of dessert cost me at least £15 for take-away!) Also opening hours are quite reduced as they are only open for lunch and not on weekends....

I absolutely love Sally Whites! Kennington was crying out for this kind of establishment before Sally and Mark rocked up three years ago and showed us all what a good artisanal style cafe looks and tastes like. Their food is made by and for, people who love food. It is consistently excellent but always interesting and it's far and away the best place to eat or grab a coffee from, for miles around. The food: there are always two adventurous, veg laden seasonal salads which vary daily, the best quiches I've ever tasted, excellent home made sausage rolls with fennel seeds, fantastic sour dough sandwiches, at least a couple of hot options, including a homemade soup which again varies every day, and more delights besides. The sweet stuff is great too with an impressive array of wheat and gluten free options and usually at least three different kinds of brownie on offer which pleases my chocolate obsessed kids.Talking of which, while they are very welcoming of children (and well-behaved dogs for that matter) owing to the layout of the seating, and foodie-feel, it's more of a grown up sort of a place - which I for one highly commend! What else. There are often little tit-bits of their cakes to taste at the counter, and the staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, quickly remembering your 'usual' tipple if you visit even semi- regularly. In the three years they've been open, Sally Whites has become a vital part of the community, as a meeting place for locals to catch up over coffee (which is great by the way, as are their extensive range of teas) for office workers to pop by and grab a healthy, delicious, lunch to take out, (check out the fast moving queues that snake out of the shop on sunny days) or for anyone armed with a laptop, who's lucky enough to grab a corner table and take advantage of their free wifi for an hour or several. The decor is super stylish too, with copper covered counter tops, exposed bulbs, high ceilings and a lovely airy feel. There's also a bench outside for somewhere to pause with a coffee in the sun. Sally Whites is so damn good, I almost didn't want to write this. In case word spreads too far and I lose that corner table.

The best place in Kennington to get breakfast or lunch. Mark, Sally and the staff know their regulars well and try to make time to chat. The main problem is choosing what to eat. Pain au raisin or the breakfast brioche? You can see the kitchen in action if you venture downstairs!Difficult to get a seat sometimes, but worth the wait. Food ok but not worth putting up with rude, surly staff. We live locally and tried out this place when it first opened. Found the service so rude so didn't go back for 2 years. Friends report food excellent so returned today to give it other try. We had sausage rolls - ok but not high quality sausagemeat, just made 'different' by the addition of carroway seeds. Service so so rude my husband walked out, leaving his sausage roll: our coffee was left in the counter for several minutes getting cold so we asked if it was ours, thinking that it might be self service collection (which we had no problem with) like Starbucks. Surly rude waitress shouted at my husband to tell him, no she would bring it over in a minute, and glared/scowled at us. Strongly suggest that anyone considering a trip to Sally White's crosses the road to Due Amici where the coffee is better and whoever you are, you are greeted as a friend and welcome customer.

We never eat in as it is just around the corner, so I can only comment on the take away service. That I have to wait and I will eventually get my money back.I would feel absolutely embarrased if one of my team member talk to any of my customers that way or just even make them wait for their money back.I will not recommend this place at all and definitely won't visit it, there are better places just across the road.

I'm not normally a complainer, but feel compelled to share this little experience in the hope that Sally White and her team will be able to sharpen up their customer service.I was just this afternoon working on an important document in Sally Whites and at 5pm one of the staff announced to the whole room of customers "Excuse me, we are already closed." She then gave us approximately one minute and switched the lights off, leaving us all to scuttle out of the cafe in darkness.Quite a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but since there were only 5 of us in the cafe it would not have taken much for you to come to us personally 5 minutes from closing to say 'just to let you know we're closing in 5 minutes'. It's small touches of (fairly basic) customer service that we hope for in a local coffee shop, otherwise we might as well be in Starbucks.I don't mean to moan, rather to encourage you to nurture your clients a little more. Hope this reaches the team.

I so wanted to love this place as I only live 5 mins away from it and love supporting local businesses. I have visited Sally White's twice now and both times i've been left disappointed. The food is nice, but so so expensive for a cafe and has such a terrible selection for vegetarians! I had a ricotta and spinach roll which was lovely, but that was pretty much my only option, they didn't even have a vegetarian sandwich option. Coffee is really nice. I really like the decoration, it's really well done and i think they have made the most out of their space. The service in this cafe is terrible. My boyfriend and I walked in said hello (didn't get a response), we then looked at the blackboard for about 1 minute and the waitress just gruffly asked 'so have you decided yet'. We ate our food, left and my boyfriend said 'bye thanks' the waitress just stared blankly at us and didn't say anything. It's such a shame but i won't be returning, as nice as the décor is, it's not worth it for the bad service.

I've tried the bakewell which is just pretty sweet and kind of bland. The brownies are ok. The one cake I've had which was great (but i only ever saw it once) was a raspberry chocolate cake - if you see that, have it, totally worth it! The pastries are ok, i've tried a very large and kind of doughy pain au raisin and a blah cherry danish. Coffee - fine, they should do bigger take away cups though.
