Sakurado Kensington Japanese Restaurant & Matcha House in Kensington and Chelsea

Super duper yummy and lovely service. Great dessert. The pistachio cake was my fav. Will come back soon.

I came with high expectation. I live not far. I was in Japan last month. It made for a very very disappointing experience. It is not authentic or genuine. The two servers were very nice, almost embarrassed. I asked for a hot chocolate, they brought a tin of Cadbury’s hot chocolate!!! Then they said they use Belgian chocolate fo their Macha and chocolates, I asked why not Japanese chocolates - no answer. We bought Matcha to take away, they had no boxes or packaging, they wrapped it in paper all the powder fell off!!! Then they tried to put them in some cheap paper bag. Such a shame, no sense of Japanese pride, they should go to Japan and spend some time reacquaint and retrain themselves in the high standards of Japan and not try to do a cheap gimmicky place. Japan and all things Japanese are great and wonderful.

Visit to London that coincided with a birthday, we thought we would try something different to the norm and stumbled on sakurado, rather than deciding on one flavour of cake, we opted for the assortment of Mille crepe cake (10 slices) the problem apart from the £65 price tag? The choice of flavours, needless to say we eventually managed to complete our choices….. the Mille crepe slices were amazing, so soft and delicate in taste, pistachio, matcha & mango were among our favourite… comes nicely packaged and definitely worth the money for a special occasion, you can buy one slice and needless to say there’s lots of other cakes, cheesecakes, breads…. Plenty to choose from in this wonderful patisserie….

We were given a box of assorted flavours of mille crepe layer cakes, from Sakurado as a present from a friend. All the flavours were absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend. We then had to buy some for other friends, to share the joy of eating them.

We ordered this cake online to pick up from the Chinatown branch. Although they did not have our order ready for collection, they gave us another one that was for sale in the shop. We took it to the restaurant and had it as part of our celebration. Most of the flavours were delicious. Red velvet was bland. Matcha is an acquired taste too. This style of cake is totally special. We each had half a slice at the end of our meal and loved it. Thank you.

Horrible company!!! I ordered a delivery for a bday occasion on 20th December 2021 from their e-comm platform central kitchen amounting £101+. Credit card was charged, payment went through but was not given any order number. Contacted a person named MeiRubin for refund umpteenth times, and she never bother to get back to me! All she did was asked the same order details from me repeatedly and keep telling me they will check with backoffice, however they could not see payment in back office. I called up my bank and they confirmed that payment had went through and I was given a merchant approval code. Asked MeiRubin to check with their bank with the approval code given many times too, to date 29th April, still no response from this company!! Horrible service from your team! Scam..!

The second time I bought, but the first time I came to the shop itself to collect it. The cakes are good, but when I arrived the staff were not very welcoming and they couldn't find my order however I don't have to wait long. The text on the menu bar in the shop is simplified Chinese I wonder maybe it's a mainland Chinese owner. There is a spelling mistake of Japanese on the cake paper box.

i ordered a birthday cake for my son, i already informed is a surprised cake. but the shop called my son a day before they deliver. most horrible they put a note with the price written. how can they do such crazy irresponsible silly mistake. over the price, why a whole cake still need to pay extra decoration. the 10 pound extra decoration was soo simple. not worth it. i will never come or order to this shop anymore. is really bad

We had the Matcha & Chocolate crepe cake, both DELICIOUS 100% reccomend, so soft and sweet but not sickly We went at around 9pm, they always have stock, dont worry about going late and them running out.

This is a cute little Instagrammable cafe in Kensington. We did a detour here after visiting the Natural History museum. I loved the matcha tiramisu and would definitely drop by again if I was in the area.

Lovely little taste of Japan, seeing as we cannot travel further afield at the moment! Matcha crepe cake was delicious. As was the Wobbly cheese cake! Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend for dessert lovers in London. Will be back soon!
