Saint George's Bakery in Bury

Been trying to find this bakery since I tried it a few years ago and I finally found it!! The sandwiches was spot! On Absolutely beautiful but I went for the yums yums specially they are the most spectacular thing you have ever tasted with a jam and cream filling. But unfortunately they did not have any I wanted to cry lol I was talking to the staff and she told me they go really quick but I told her I travelled an hour for these and she was so thoughtful she made me some and omg I actually can not wait to move back to bury Purley for this bakery it's absolutely amazing and fresh and reasonably priced to. Delicious!! I have been coming into the bakery over the past few months and can honestly say there’s nothing I can fault. From what I have eaten up to now has been very nice and portion sizes are very good! The sausage rolls are the best I’ve ever had and the chocolate fudge brownie is to die for. There was a small wait for my hot food but the shop can be busy so can’t really complain about that and the lady’s behind the counter usually have a nice chat with you. I’m still yet to try the hot specials but if I’m going off everything I’ve tried so far I’m sure they will be just as good. The variety is amazing there’s definitely something for everyone. The lady’s are also very good with my son who won’t speak to anyone but will have a good chat about his ginger bread man, which they let him pick his own and it makes his day.

Usually get good sandwiches from here but today I was disappointed. Ham salad sandwich was very low on salad! Tiny bit of lettuce, two slices of cucumber and a slice of tomato, no sauce which had been asked for. May think twice about returning as it was as if it was made by someone who couldn’t be bothered!

Went to grab a quick sandwich for lunch and ask I took a bite I noticed something black in it. There was a caterpillar crawling in my sandwich ! Took it back and the lady behind the desk apologised and refunded me but I certainly won’t be going back there again. Food hygiene is clearly not up to standards and the lettuce and salad hasn’t been washed!

Have been coming here for years but today will be the last. The prices are way too high now and the quality has dropped. The floor and fridge fronts are filthy and haven’t been cleaned in years. The hot food cabinet has been smashed for months and not replaced, with the money they charge things like that should be fixed immediately. And lastly but definitely not least is the horrible staff behind the counter! So bitchy, slow and miserable that they put you off going. Such a shame because it was once wonderful.

No value here, everything very overpriced. Sandwich salads are pre made and then they add the fillings, but the rolls are already soggy

What a wonderful bakery! In all this madness they are still providing a great service and with a smile. Fresh bread, muffins, cakes, sandwiches, pies, pasties and hot sandwiches. Also they are selling fresh loaves, muffins, butter, milk, eggs and some vegetables/fruit to save people having to venture out to the supermarkets. Well done to all the management and staff ❤️

So glad St George's bakery is still open despite the Covid 19 outbreak. The staff are as lovely as ever and they really seem to be taking extra measures to make sure everyone stays safe during these uncertain times.

Come here every week. Never had a bad meal whether that's a sandwich or jacket to a breakfast or hot meal! Staff are really friendly would recommend this to anyone!

My first visit to saint georges bakery and what an amazing bakery it is! So much choice and the staff are super friendly and attentive. The shop was busy but it didn’t take long to be served and with a smile also! The cake fridge and hot sandwiches were definitely a fave for me! I would highly recommend

I herd about this place a while ago and decided to deviate from my regular sandwich shop to try It out.... outcome.... What awful and rude people! The cake I purchased was stale! The portion size was Small! The customer service was shocking! Staff chatting amongst themselves not bothering about the customers waiting, and the whole time I was waiting (15 minutes) I DID NOT see a single person wash their hands! The only thing I enjoyed was the crisp (as made by walkers) I will not be wasting my money again in this dump!

OMG you just have to eat here staff are brilliant and make amazing sandwiches plus the cakes and pastries are just to die for ! Not expensive either

This is one of the best for choice of sandwiches pies and cakes, very busy and the staff friendly, I believe it is now open on Sunday morning.

I Walked past this place and could not believe how busy it was . So I thought I would stand inside and wait to be served. Inside is a vast array of pies sandwiches cream cakes and cakes . All are sandwiches are made fresh in front of you , and all hot sandwiches are made to order . I purchased bacon egg on toast and a ham salad . Both excellent and so were the prices . I returned the next day and purchased hot pies and a cream cake both excellent again . The staff are friendly and work at a very good pace to get all served in the quickest time .

I purchased sausage & bacon muffin and found that it was undercooked pink meat poor quality will not eat here again .

and savouries as you would expect from this part of the world---also tip top confectionery and service-we should all use or lose our diminished stock of individual shops while we still have them.

great food great choice lunchtime can be busy. but always served with a smile. also do some nice bread loafs

This bakery is lovely everything made on premises never had anything awful from pies to sandwiches beautiful cakes.also do breakfast hot sandwiches tatty hash ,always very busy .

On business in Bury and was recommended this Bakery. Great fresh sandwiches and pies. Especially the steak & mushroom..delicious!

Excellent food and cakes nice staff always packed at dinner time but everything I've had from this bakery is lovely

hi there, just last weekend gone ,Saturday 19th March , i had arranged a 60th birthday Party at the ELTON LIBERAL CLUB , so i needed to organise some Buffet Food for about 20-30 people. St Georges Bakery was recommended by the Steward at the club.
