We ordered 3 coffees and 3: tea cakes ... what could go wrong? Queuing was an ordeal and everything made such a palaver. We collected our cutlery it was disgusting and stained ... we rummaged it was all as bad! The table was piled with the last occupants remains! Even the table number we had to display was battered and dirty ... a lady on a table near us went and got her own cleaning stuff ... come on Sainsbury’s it’s a busy cafe get enough staff to make it function.

Food was reasonable, but unfortunately lots of items were unavailable because their fridge had broken down, so the kids couldn't have a warm sandwich. We ordered chicken tikka masala and it was remarkably good.

If you’re reading this I’m probably still waiting for my breakfast. This is a WARNING to anyone thinking “oh. Let’s just pop into Sainsbury’s cafe” do not go here unless you have a free schedule for at least a few days because that’s how long it takes to fry a couple pieces of bacon and an egg. I first entered the shop I was clean shaven and now I can only describe myself as grizzly Adams doppelgänger. My rumbling stomach has now started to vex other customers. Everybody in here is so angry and so breakfastless that it’s created a bond through hatred of waiting. I don’t know how much longer we have until the starvation finally takes us. We have all started to adapt, yet we are still so very hopeful that one day our breakfast might be underneath our knives and forks. An oil drum has been set alight as a few breakfast-waiters gather round for heat. I’ve started to lose my mind and fear that I’ve lost myself to the breakfasty darkness. If anybody reads this send help to the Winnersh Sainsbury’s cafe. Cremate my breakfastless dead body; I’ll be the corpse without breakfast sat by the fire escape.

with all the local building and road works going on the cafe is really busy every morning ans the queues are ridiculous. It used to be a nice place to have a cuppa and a catch up after the morning shift at work - but now it's a no no!!

Stopped in today and waited nearly an hour for food. I was on a lunch break from work and was late back. I asked for chips instead of hash browns but was told I had to order chips separately. Strange I could see 3 people that had swapped hash browns for chips. The lady on the TIL was extremely miserable. Won’t be going back. If you plan stopping make sure you have a lot of time to wait. Joke cost £16 for 2 breakfast and drink I could have gone to a restaurant for 5he same price and atleast got service with a smile.

I am unsurprised to read mixed reviews of this cafe. You might be surprised to read my review title given that I have rated it 'Poor'. If you care to read on, I shall elaborate and you will, I think, find my comments balanced. The thing about the birthday is not that I suggest you go there to celebrate one but that service is so slow, you might find yourself passing a milestone unexpectedly. Firstly, by way of balance, I would say that this is by no means unusual for a Sainsburys Cafe. They are badly run and this I attribute not to the staff but to poor management. The food can be very good and today it was but only after a 45 minute wait for the mains. I had had the foresight to eat my dessert first and that was good. We had been told, upon ordering, it 'might be 20 minutes'. When wait times are, in fact, in excess of 40 minutes, that should be stated unequivocally to give people the option of going elsewhere or at least getting a good book before ordering. I understand that this particular cafe is always slow. On this occasion we were told that there was only one chef (instead of two) and a trainee. My first question is how much training does it take to use a microwave? Most Sainsburys meals are, as far as I can tell, reheated in one way or another. Also as far as I can tell, there is no method in the kitchen, except for breakfasts which are generally praised on this site. I imagine meals are prepared consecutively instead of concurrently and this gives rise to painfully slow service. The staff, remarkably, maintain a courteous facade in the face of the inevitably many challenges from hungry customers. Our mains were delicious and served with a side of apology. When asked if there was anything else I wanted, I replied in the affirmative and that I would have a free tea, emphasising the word free. I got it. This is not all about the staff, maybe not even more than a little. They are working hard for miserable wages. The cafe processes need to be sharpened up - a management responsibility - training and support given - another management responsibility - and staff provided in sufficient numbers - again a management responsibility. The final responsibility of management is to be visible and accountable but they are neither. It should not fall upon the shoulders of a poor soul on (probably) minimum wage to deal with a barrage of adverse comment. People can get a bit scratchy when they're hungry.

Wanted a quick tea and to feed my baby after shopping, the cafe doesn’t have loads of choice and is expensive for what it is.Staff ok but not very helpful as they could see me struggling to push a pram and hold a tray- those other people helped in the cafe.Had a pot of tea and cake which was fine.

This cafe is situated in the Sainsbury's superstore. Its a perfect location for a tea or coffee after shopping. It does an array of simple meals, breakfasts, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, curry, cottage pie etc (changing menus) & cakes as well as children's sandwich/snack bags & children's hot meals - the usual fish finger/ chicken nuggets etc.It is good for a no frills snack. The prices are reasonable & don't break the bank. They also do takeaway coffee & tea. The cafe has toilets. It is pushchair & wheelchair friendly.Disabled & parent & child parking outside. Also you can get nectar points on purchases from the cafe. Service not the quickest but its nice to have a choice of food & snacks & not a franchise where you are limited (eg. some Sainsbury's are Starbucks or similar) if you want more of a meal or just a drink & a cake & they are normally a lot more expensive & more child friendly food options.

This was my fourth time visiting a Gails bakery. The previous 3 times I had reservations about the bakery but put it down to short staff or a busy period. Today however I have come to the conclusion that Gails is highly overrated. The staff are pretty rude aside from the mediocre and bland food on offer which is overpriced as well. We had the scones and a spinach and feta pastry. The scones were dry, ice cold and flavourless, the spinach and feta pie was bland and greasy. Improvement in flavour, presentation and most importantly taste needs a major overhaul. Happy to pay high prices for high quality products. I will give this place a miss whilst it gets to improving its standards and quality. There are countless of great coffee shops opening up so why not keep up the pace. .

Tiny pub, food was OK when it arrived - expect to wait 45mins plus for dry food, few greens and a big bill
