Total unexpected yet consistently delicious food at low low prices . Ok it’s a supermarket backdrop but the food is totally top notch and way better than many pub chain efforts. If only other branches were as good. Prepare for a lesser experience in other js.

The Christmas Turkey dinner this year is way below last years standard. Food was cold, turkey was plastic and salty, sprouts were mush, gravy was watery tasteless and salty. Forgot to put stuffing on the plate. One lady server was excellent however the older chap was far from good. I don’t think he can read numbers and his loud vocals makes certain that everyone knows what he’s saying to you. Embarrassing really if you let him be.

Unappetizing food.. Not an environment conducive to stimulate the appetite.I am afraid I would not be able to recommend.

I'm not sure what it is with this restaurant, this is the third time I've had a stomach upset after eating there , first time wasn't sure , second time it happened again so thought it probably was , eat there first time this year thought I try it again and the same thing a stomach upset won't be trying again.

Decided on Sainsburys for mid morning hot drinks as we needed some grocery shopping but instead got mid morning cold drinks. The restaurant was busy which is a good sign, started to join a long queue to order our drinks. We asked for Large Latte & Luxury Hot Chocolate, unfortunately both was luke warm and we downed it within mins and left. Not quite what i was expecting - just wished we went with our original plan of going Starbucks but as we needed shopping it's was easier to combine the 2. I won't be rushing back.

We were in Exeter on the way home from our Cornish summer holiday. We found this Sainsbury's and decided to give it a try. The first thing that was a difference to other branches is that the place was packed and a longer wait was on the cards ! We then ordered our food and sat down . The only other downside of this branch is that my Dad's Pepsi from the machine was dilute and basically Fizzy Water with extra Pepsi !!! (It gave him a headache) When the food came , it was very nice . I had cod and chips , which is what you normally find me eating in Sainsbury's Cafes. It was good like in every other branch. I would recommend coming in here , but not if you like busy cafes !

Stopped for breakfast on the way to a friend and have been before. The staff are always smiling and happy and seem pleased to be there. Food was lovely , had big breakfast. Coffee with soya no problem. Clean.

Unfortunately...after several visits to this establishment that is the best summary I can give it....and when I say a works canteen....I don't mean one at the higher end of the scale. It wouldn't be out of place in a Russian Gulag. *Ahem*...but this is Sainsbury's... and as such - with all the delectable, reasonably priced food/meals available in the aisles downstairs...why is this place such a let down? It is vast....the layout functionally souless - as many works canteens are...and it all looks a bit frayed at the edges - though not in any way 'shabby chic'. Again....this is Sainsbury's...you somehow expect something more. Each time the service has been slow enough to have to go back to the counter and twice cancel the food order....after a patient 20-30 minute wait. There doesn't appear to be anyone out front taking charge of proceedings. The counter service seems understaffed and judging by the waiting times the same might apply for what goes on behind the swing door. You don't expect Michelin stars and Michel Roux greeting you personally but after an hour's trolley trawl round the downstairs it would be great to have somewhere/something upstairs to look forward to afterwards.

Restaurant was very clean. Staff were polite, cheerful, clean and friendly. We had Lasagne and salad with garlic bread and Fish and chips, while not exceptional, it was very good. The fish and chips were much better than Rick Stein's in Falmouth!! Portion control was good too. Following morning we were back for the Big breakfast and that was nicely presented, well cooked and more than sufficient. The waitress asked us if everything was all right half way through the meal and at the end as she had done the night before. We went in here because we've given up with 'restaurants, hotels and that ilk due to a constant supply of mediocre food and service by them. There were a good few 'suits' men and women from local businesses I would think, who realise the benefits of freshly cooked food that means that, good pricing, cleanliness and polite staff everywhere. I saw a female cook/chef walk through the restaurant, her hair was well-groomed, she looked clean and a first in a long time her apron and Whites were immaculate. Very impressed. So many kitchen workers at hotels and restaurants look like they've been delivering coal and are often seen out back smoking etc. We'll eat here again and recommend the place highly. This was a return visit because having eaten here some months ago we knew the food and service were good.

After a busy shop and in a rush I stupidly decided to attempt to get fast food from the cafe. I was sceptical as I entered the joint as there were as many people eating as there are celebrities in big brother. On ordering a bacon sandwich I did not expect to have had to wait 20 minutes. I could have gone down the fields and butchered the squealing thing myself. Then on arrival, I was handed the disappointment in a brown soggy box. Then back in my car I opened it. It was the happy meal of sandwiches, tiny, I could eat a half in one bite. And inside, 1 measly rasher of undercooked greasy bacon. If I was trying to get rid of a one night stand as quickly as possible that is what I would have brewed up. It was shocking, I am literally still upset. I thought paying for toilets in Waterloo was taking the piss, but this is actually insulting. If you wanna spend 2.10 to feel robbed and nauseated but you can't afford Amsterdam, go to Sainsburys in Exeter. Good day.

Stay in Devon a lot, and visit the Alphington Sainsburys. The restaurant food in general is very good and reasonable. And any hiccups have been sorted quick. Reasonable choice of food. Just wish they would cater for glueton free people. Have always had excellent service. The best of all the Sainsburys I have been in.

We very much enjoyed our visit, we haven't eaten here for many years and was good to try it again. Staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We ordered 4 children's meals which came with a free drink and a piece of fruit that was £3 each which is an absolute bargain. The only downside was toilets were out of order so you had to go downstairs and through the shop but wasn't a problem. The kids enjoyed running downstairs and back up again. The restaurant was clean and tables were cleared swiftly. I had Sausages and mash with gravy and peas and that was a fiver. It tasted good too.

You would expect all Sainsbury's cafes to be the same, but Exeter is much better than Truro. I have been here a few times and sometimes have their Fish and Chips and pea's at £4.50 good meal at an excellent price.i do not know why it is better than the Truro Cafe for fih & Chips but there you go. Ham salad was £4.30 and a flat white coffee is £2.15 which I think is a bit steep for a coffee. They supply papers as well but you have to be quick. Ideal place to eat and shop if you are in the area

We arrived with 2 hungry and tired children and the staff could not have been more helpful. And, the food was great value -- we all ate as much as we wanted for £25. No fancy frills, but good value food for the family.

Wrote a review about Sainburys before last Christmas and am pleased to report its still good, I do like their Fish & Chips with mushy peas for £5.40, a coffee is £1.45. Its an ideal place for lunch when you are out shopping, clean and hygenic. I find Sainburys a bit expensive and I do not like the offers where you have to buy more than you want to get a saving, petrol is more than Asda which is better value for everything. Good car park. Lift to restaurant which is upstairs. Handy for the A30 and March Barton Industrial Estate where you can buy any make of car.

You would thing all Sainburys Cafes are the same but this one outshines the one in Truro for instance. Good food and promp service. We were in last Saturday and had Fish and Chips & mushy peas, they were a 100% better than Truro's efforts. Service was promp even though there were plent of customers. Plenty of parking. Typical big supermarkets a bit out of town but handy for the A30. Has a petrol station.

Once again another dire visit to a Sainsbury's cafe. 3 out of 4 of our meals either wrong or dried up and not edible. We were only passing through Exeter and so stopped there. We have also had similar experiences in our local branches penzance and helston. Not enough staff and always a long wait or terrible food. That really is the last time we try it!

Sainsburys decided to keep this cafe open. It used to be really good however this morning was diabolical. Order x2 breakfasts....we were given ticket No 1. So, we get someone else's eggs on toast , and had to get the receipt out to corroborate that we actually ordered full English. Whilst engaged with a mos, another breakfast tray arrives but again not our order. Eventually brunch arrives, and it was very cold, possibly the mini breakfast was sat on the side whilst the full English was cooked. Congealed egg, sausage which was undercooked. Perhaps some training may need to be undertaken about food safety. Who wants to be ill over Christmas. Ending on a positive, the Americano was good and I saved myself some calories. Such a shame.

Visited early on a Saturday morning before it was really busy, and had a friendly welcome and quick service. The shop was clean and comfortable. Not sure what it'd be like once it gets busy, but my experience was good.

Waited in the queue to order for 15 minutes , then 40 minutes to get our food ! With a 2 year old and a 4 year old this is really poor! There were only about 10 people in the whole restaurant ! The food was mostly ok but daughter’s jacket potato not hot ! Will not risk it again and have had to wait a long time in previous visits but this has finished us for trying again !!! And they had no drinks left for the children’s meals and there was some cheese in the children’s beans and they are allergic to dairy !!!!!

Good tasting food and quick service. Nice open area in the back to sit down as well. However, it can be quite loud and busy during peak lunch hours. Overall, worth a visit.
