Service was awful, no engagement at all.

There was a long wait for food but no warning. Had I known I wouldn’t have stayed, as had a very impatient toddler. There was no glasses for water, no knives and no juices for kids. I ordered the new avocado and eggs on sourdough toast, when it arrived there was a pathetic amount of smashed avocado. I told the staff and they took it back, but when it returned there was barely any more. The staff were nice enough, even went out of their way to bring juice for my toddler. But the food was extremely disappointing.

Popped in here as my friend only live down the road and I was staying in Newport for the weekend. My friend ordered an all day breakfast, she said her was lovely not greasy really nice and her red label tea was lovely. I had scone with cream and apricot and earl grey tea which was stunning and only £2.75 filed by tuna jacket potato which was delicious proper oven cooked jacket. I was hesitant coming here after reading some reviews but the food was lovely only £7.25 for mine in total and considering it’s only a supermarket cafe I was very impressed. The staff were all friendly, helpful and courteous and even got me extra salad dressing. I would definitely return and recommend

Bit of a wait to get served but the staff were friendly . They brought our drinks to us but did spill some in the safer. Nice hot coffee.

Tables and floor were absolutely filthy, hopelessly understaffed, no water or glasses at the water station, no spoons available!

Disappointed... 1 hour wait if you wanted food. Had to clean table ourselves, very messy. I don't think they have enough staff.Didn't wait for food, bought a meal deal and ate it in the car!!!

What a total disaster from start to finish! Seemed as if staff were unfamiliar with each others way of working and were running round like headless chickens. If ordering food you are issued with a number to pop on your table, our food came out and as I was the one waiting for the coffee which was unbelievably slow...I had the number, the waitress went round n round the restaurant obviously looking for the number. Long story short, my breakfast was stone cold before I got back to table with coffees. So not just cold food but a greasy mess which I left. As Sainsburys cafes go they are not very good but I will not be using this one again

My toastie was overcooked and left on the side of the counter. I was just going to retrieve it when the staff noticed and brought it over.. There wasn't a table much to choice from because they were all full from the tables all full of used China. I've never seen such an awful dirty environment for a long time . The floor was really dirty. Apart from no sandwiches and cakes on show to look nice and enviting . I was quite concerned as this is sainsbury name and it was a big let to me . Staff didn't seem to care . I owned a coffee shop night club . I used to say to my staff if you come out if the kitchen or bar to serve always always bring some dirty dishes with you never come back I'm empty handed. There were staff just bringing food out and leaving a load of dirty dishes on the tables there . I would have a fit on them . Shape them all up there . Appalling. So dirty

Good choice of food, good service and a plesent atmosphere

Wonderful cafe, high ceiling and tall windows, very airy and a great space. Brilliant staff and plenty of offers on the menu. O2 WiFi so you can get some work done !

Went for a breakfast was vary unclean food on tables and floor my partner was bad later never again

I only wanted coffee so ordered latte but was told the machine was broken so had to have ground coffee with a dash of milk. The milk was in a large jug on the side which was nearly empty so had to use the dregs. The coffee tasted fine however and seeing I was the only one in the cafe had quick sevice. I hope next time I am able to order latte.

Bad enough to make you re-evaluate your life for going there in the first place. The cafe has ample seating but is usually empty and probably for a good reason. I've been here twice now and can't believe the poor quality of the food. On the slim chance I come here again, I might buy my own food from the store and ask them to bung it in their oven instead of ordering from their menu. Even then I'll probably still have to share it with the flies here. If you're as desperate as I was and just want to feed the kids, go to McDonald's - you'll know where you stand and it will probably be cheaper too.

All day breakfast is very good, delivery of food is slow, but we don't mind as it is clearly cooked fresh, not just items cooked in bulk and kept festering in a bain marie.

If you are Hungary and desperate for a cuppa,its perfect,coffee is awful,food choice needs a complete rejig...desperate for a cuppa that's why I went....sorry

Thought I’d try here for change and I was pleasantly impressed Don’t expect Michelin star quality but considering the price low tag it does exactly what it says on the tin.

One member of staff serving alone at 10.30 when the store is busy is insufficient

Slow, dirty and a bit lacking. . . Also I've tried to eat here 4 times (different days and times) and it's the first time its been doing hot food due to staffing issues which is disappointing. Breakfast is lovely but just too dirty.

Dreadful, fish & chips cold, fish was raw, taken back & given a fefund, wasn't even busy in the cafe, no excuse 🤢

Had a cooked breakfast at Newport sainsburys cafe , I’m fussy & I can only say the breakfast I had was delicious ! Quality sausages , not cheap caf’ bangers, quality beans & piping hot , friendly staff too , I will definitely return 👏

Late opening, doesn't advertise it so countless customers turn up & walk away!

Lovely food and a good atmosphere

The menus are from Sainsbury's own food range of products. The food is microwaved and served quickly. The coffee is good and the tea is builder's strength. Prices are very competitive.

Great to be able to have a quick note to eat

Ordered cooked breakfast. Was told there was no sausage or hash browns so asked for extra bacon. Food was served 30 min later. Food was stone cold and the toast seemed to be very old. (Rock hard) and served with extra sausage?! Very poor experience. It this seems to be the usual pattern and behaviour of this cafe. No dining here again.

Had coffee with my teenage grand daughter. Staff helpful but I ordered 2toast which was served cold n dry. The butter had been put on so thin n only in the middle and it had dried right in it was inedible so I went back to counter and told them. Cashier looked bit amazed so I asked for marmalade which cost me 70p for 2 tiny plastic cartons. Never again

Good coffee, nice breakfasts, prices not too bad. It is a pity they dont put more staff on, can be a wait for food.

Typical sainsbury's, run on absolute shoe string. No where near enough staff to cope with peak trading times. Staff they have are run ragged. Even staff eating in the cafe on their break took to serving and clearing with their coats on. No manager to be seen..

Absolutely disgraceful waited 40 minutes for 3 people to have toast and when it arrived it was freezing....

Food is always fresh and piping hot. Service is excellent too! We're slimming world members and it's fantastic to know we can order an on plan breakfast and add extras!

Drinks machine was still out of order, I think it's been weeks now not months, very poor for Sainsbury's and a big disappointment when stopping for food. Also no room to drop the full trays off as it was over flowing, tables also left dirty. Not always like this so maybe short staffed. Drinks machine not working unacceptable

The store is clean and the toilets are clean and the staff are a bit of eye candy, lol. Nice store

Poor service in newport took ages to serve and panni had hardly any filling

Called in for a cuppa before doing some shopping . The cafe was extremely busy with shopping trolleys parked everywhere. We joined the queue, it probably took us about 10 minutes before we actually got to the main counter to order food and drinks, so it gave us a chance to view all the items, which were on display. There were plenty of cakes, cakes and more cakes ...absolutely nothing healthy to eat except for a couple of tiny bananas and dried up oranges, absolutely shocking, There were two people behind the counter, basically doing everything, who i felt very sorry for. My partner wanter a cooked breakfast, and was told it woukd take approximately 20 minutes, so opted for a bacon baguette, only to be told NO BAGUETTES,! I questioned this as we were in a food store, so surley they could pop across to the bakery ang grab a few, to which the lady on the till replied they come in special for the canteen .🙄 Well, i had a tiny banana which cost 50p the same size as what the store give out free to the children , and a cuo of tea.. whilst my partner had a dried up muffin and a latte, to which he said was the worst he'd ever had . Total price around £4.50 if i remember correctly . Definitely will Not be returning unless they get their act together and put on MORE staff, and MORE variety of Healthy snacks.. Come on sainsbury's your a food store, some customers like more than just cakes, desserts, fry ups, etc.

Food is good value and quite nice, and service is very good. However, the café resembles a work's canteen, with lots of long tables and a high ceiling. Needs a refurb!

Food as you would expect but the cleanliness of the cafe was a disgrace, under the table we say at was weeks old stains and dirt, whole cafe is looking dirty and unkempt

Easy parking & reasonable prices

Sainsbury seem to have captured the market on being the slowest, dirtiest restaurants out there. Can they not pop in to a Morrison and take a look, it can be done properly.

Decent food and friendly service

Excellent all day breakfast with all items perfectly cooked. Good coffee. Pleasant service. Restaurant clean and light.

Cheese and ham omelette is always delicious. Plenty of seating.

It's ok, took a while to get served although they had 1 serving and 1 doing drinks, we had steamed cod, side salad and new pots which I think was overpriced at £6 for the portion size was on a small lunch plate.

Value for money, just off the M4 J25 West.
