Sainsbury's Café in Harrogate

Disgusting food. Microwaved to the depths of hell.

The setting has less atmosphere than the moon, but the staff do their best with a menu that seems to be forever changing, and one that avoids all the obvious choices people want. I settled for two slices of brown toast. It coast a bewildering £1-75 and came with 2 tiny portions of Lurpak. When I asked for more butter I was told it would cost an extra 20p per serving. Seriously?

Dreadful experience. The kitchen refused to make scrambled eggs even though they were on the menu. When I asked why, they said they didn’t have enough pans. I pointed out that it was on the menu and explained that my kids wouldn’t eat anything else, leaving us at a loss. I spoke to the manager, who then convinced the kitchen to prepare the eggs. However, what we were served was shocking—clearly microwaved eggs that my kids refused to eat. My meal was also missing items listed on the menu. This was infuriating, especially considering the price we paid. It's somewhat ironic: Sainsbury’s staff treating customers this poorly, combined with such a bad experience at the café, has led to us deciding not to shop there anymore. This is significant since we spend thousands annually on our regular grocery shopping.

Nice place to snack before or after shopping in their supermarket

Without doubt the worst chips I have ever had. They were oven chips and simultaneously burnt on the outside and uncooked in the middle. The falafel wrap was better, but not a whole lot better, while the lemon san Pellegrino was good, as to be expected. The service was OK, slow and overwhelmed, but they tried. The atmosphere was terrible, like god's waiting room. But then it was midday on a Friday.

Went on Sunday around 1pm, pretty much everything we asked for they didn't have (including the "all day" breakfast, apparently if we'd got there at 9:30am we'd have been fine 🙄) Finally ordered jacket potatoes to then be told after we'd paid that they didn't have them either. So got a refund and ordered ham, egg and chips, honestly it was vile. The two eggs were both cold, hard and snotty with a hard film over them, don't like to think how long they'd been sitting there. Chips were not cooked long enough, gave the plate to one of the staff, not really interested "oh ok" - seriously, avoid this place.

Firstly, the coffee is good. No complaints there. Food in the Cafe is the one and only thing that let's the whole shop down. Food is terrible quality. Cold and overcooked, horrible taste, everything (chicken burger worst thing I'd ever eaten) Ordered a toasties with other food and they brought the toasties out in 5 minutes and dad ate alone, while we waited 20mins for food. Always run out of stock ,so they withdraw the whole item from menu. We are not the type of people to complain, so never did while there and to have to complain about 3 different meals felt like a war path. So just decided we won't go back.

Great breakfast at a very reasonable cost

Went for breakfast i had bacon egg on toast my son had sausage bap. No ketchup. Brown sauce mayo nothing dry toadt no butter over cooked bacon dry bap shocking won't be eating here again

cafe with low standard of hygiene , grumpy disorganised staff (older short hair lady) shouting at family of 4 for feeding toddler with food brought from home. (although we did order 4 meals). Trying to embarrass us in front of the whole cafe...Not bringing teh coffee to give us lessons. Really rude (that particular lady... rest of the staff kind ) , not recommended.

Breakfast!!!! . Eggs snotty . Sausages cooked one side only. All of it was cold. Staff miserable. Would not recommend. Not happy at all

Very poor quality of ingredients. 1, hard egg 2,cold bacon and hash brown 3,sausages cooked but very pale in appearance. 4,mushroom had what appeared to be a skin on. Overall service of a poor quality. I will not be returning and would advise friends and family to STAY CLEAR. KEVIN BOYLE

Been in earlier today and had all day breakfast...sausages cold and pale, bacon cold, eggs undercooked with runny whites, mushroom cold and rubbery...only positive was the hash brown was hot and the beans were hot... altogether pretty inedible.

We ordered the halloumi breakfast; beans, toast, two fried eggs, large mushroom, hash brown, tomato and a slice of halloumi. The food arrived promptly and piping hot. Too much for me to finish but tasty and good value at £4.00. Would recommend.

Average service. Not many smiles from staff. Looks like they really don't want to be there. Coffee... Well don't have anything that involves an espresso shot, you will have the bitter and burnt taste in your mouth for quite some time. Lovely space for a cafe but, needs energy and a bit more zing in all aspects. Food quality, staff morale and a modern menu.

Really good food for a cheap price

Went for a quick snack I had cheese ham toastie my hubby had goats cheese and beetroot sandwich and blueberry muffin very nice just what filled the gap the assistant was excellent there was a lady before who had a small grandchild with her and didn't realise she missed some of the things from the childs offer she helped the lady choose her patience was amazing rare to see in this day and age the assistant had very short hair and I would have made her employer of the month as she went the extra mile I love sainsburys coffee shop good feel factor

The cafe itself is ok your problem is with your coffee (rubbish) and waiting time you should now introduce a person of experience to bring it together

We had a bad experience in Sainsbury's cafe today. Wait for hot food 25 mins, including toasted sandwiches Card machine broken so would only accept contact payments Good coffee though

As supermarket cafe's go it's quite good and not expensive.

Absolute disgrace of a cafe!! Waited half an hour to be served three lattes. Would have been two and a pumpkin spiced latte but the one perwon serving didnt know how to make them. Initially two menbers of staff on with a que of around eight people when supervisor came out of the back and sent the young lad serving off duty. She then dissapeared leaving one person who couldn't cope. Customer behind me asked after being stood in que for over twenty minutes if she could order two bowls of soup and was told not until sge got to the till, heaven only knows how long she eventually waited with two very elderly friends/relatives for a bowl of soup. Its an embarrassment, poorly run, cold atmosphere and not what I expect from Sainsburys brand. Can see from other reviews that there is a problem here that needs sorting!

Awful place, not enough staff, food is very mediocre and often hastily put together. It's quite a cold, austere place. Was much nicer when it was Starbucks.

I had a breakfast the eggs and beans were cold the bacon was over cooked looked like it had been under a hot plate for ever and was not cooked fresh. Will not be going again Very disappointed

Comfortable and clean cafe with easy access for those with buggies.

Toasted sandwiches are poor. Difficult to find the filling there's so little.

Was told fish and chips and an omlette would be a 20 minutes wait from ordering. In the event it took 42 minutes.

Standard supermarket cafe fare and quality

Went in for Food on the run and wasn't disappointed There's a good selection right across the board from soup to main meals all reasonable price now someone has obviously looked at making them Competitive and successfully done it Enjoyed the visit we will return there isn't many places where cthe food is as good at the end of the day as the beginning

It has all the amenities that you need in a Cafe, a soft seat area, food is fine, coffee is fine. Highchairs available.

Let's put it in context and acknowledge this a supermarket cafe but I have to say at one point I wondered if I hadn't been set up for a prank. The staff were possibly the slowest I've ever encountered. Trying order fish chops and peas twice became painful and then trying another fish and chips without peas then seemed to tip the person taking the order over the edge. How difficult us green lots of fish and chips two with peas? Apparently a lot harder than you'd think. It was good for a laugh but I wouldn't risk it if in a rush. The queue that built up was pretty staggering but that wasn't going to prompt speed. Fancy a laugh give it a go
