Unfortunately extremely overpriced and very limited choice. Is not what Sailor V was in previous years! Wouldn't waste my time going back... Plenty of nicer venues in the centre of town at more reasonable prices

I feel compelled to write my first review. I don’t want other potential customers to feel like we did after visiting Petit Pēche (formally Sailor V). The quality of food is poor and is well over priced. The pizza’s we had (5 in total) were all burnt. I appreciate they only have a short season but this is no excuse for providing sub standard food.

Not quite sure what to make of Sailor V - it's a lovely space and we were welcomed warmly with our dog Oppo being allowed in bylut.criley, the prices are off the scale - just shy of £20 per pizza and what I couldn't work out was how the Pepperoni Pizza was less expensive than the Margherita - basically the same.pozza.with pepperoni is.cheaper? Menu consisted of four or five pizzas and no salads - not sure if the bases are made on sight or bought in.

This used to be my favorite cafe in Salcombe until yesterday. We paid £12 for a mug of coffee and a flat white. The flat white came without a saucer, the mug looked cheap. I like supporting local shops/Cafes etc but this made me feel taken advantage of.

We visited today at around 1.30pm for a warm drink and to dry out from the rain, the atmosphere was unwelcoming to say the least and if you're after a hot drink this isn't the place for you! Sailor V was always a fab little coffe shop, with freshly made cakes and treats on the counter and a great food menu. Today there was nothing. We scoured the menu boards and couldn't see a hot drinks menu, I asked if there was one I was handed a wine menu. I asked if they did serve hot drinks (we could see a coffee machine) the girl told us yes so my husband ordered a cappuccino and I asked if they could do a latte, the girl behind the counter said "No"....at this point I wish we'd walked out...I ordered a simple breakfast tea, the cost came to around £7 and this was served to our dirty table, tea bag still in the mug and complete with some dirty spoons! I'm not sure where I was expected to put the tea bag ? It's such a shame this was our experience today as we have fond memories of Sailor V, many breakfast times spent there with our children growing up, they always loved the milkshakes. We left today feeling begrudging of paying for such poor service and quality, and it's unlikely we will be returning.

I bambini, meno esigenti, escono comunque soddisfatti. Ottima l'accoglienza e il servizio da parte delle cameriere. Location informale, prezzi nella norma (di Salcombe).

Amazing service, ambience, food and drink. Came here with my husband and two boys whilst on our Easter holidays and couldn't believe they had only been open just over a week. We were made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff who went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely evening. The wine and cocktails were delicious as were the scallops, pizza and charcuterie boards. Absolutely fabulous...wish we could of stayed longer. Hopefully we will be back in Salcombe soon. A hidden gem for now, but not for long I'm sure of it!

Amazing . At last a sophisticated but relaxed wine bar/bistro in Salcombe with fantastic food and wine. Although the pubs in Salcombe are great, if you want to drink more selected wine, listen to live piano and relax in a somewhat less busy and relaxed informal atmosphere - this is it. Particularly enjoyed the Coolhurst rose (a fabulous English owneed alternative to popular brands) served with scallops on samphire. It nearly bettered the lobster and strawberry salad I had last week which was amazing. With a new chef, new bar manager and owner that seems to know exactly what Salcombe visitors are missing....

We came on particularly rainy Monday (31st August), it seems to be one of only a couple of coffee shops in Salcombe we could find. Other one had a massive queue outside. So desperate for lunch and a coffee after walking around in pouring rain, we found here. Unfortunately we were turned away as it was a minute past 2, as they were closing apparently. Maybe they don't need the business?

Went to Sailor V’s based on some of the reviews on trip advisor… it was a cute little cafe with a nice selection of drinks. The food was mediocre… classic cafe food, good value. After visiting a few other breakfast places in Salcombe we do think there are better places to get eggs, toast etc. I would recommend the smoothies, they are fresh and can be taken away; perfect when it’s warm outside!

First visit after taking the ferry over from East Portlemouth for a pre-beach breakfast. Thankfully we had booked ahead because they were short-staffed so had limited tables. Dog friendly and nicely laid out interior. Lovely service, very friendly especially from what I assume is the owner. Good quality home-cooked food and drinks from the combined breakfast and lunch menu ("brunch"). The menu was varied without being too adventurous. An ideal location in Salcombe just up the steps from the ferry jetty. We headed off to the beach with happy tums, all set up for the day ahead.

We walked in and asked for takeaway coffee and the snotty man behind the bar said “well I suppose I could do that before the rush”. Literally there was no rush, the place was empty!!! He then charged my husband for large coffees but tried to give us the smallest cups. I then asked for the large cups which he charged me extra for! The coffee was totally tasteless and we wished we’d never gone in there. All they had to do was put a sign up, we don’t sell takeaway coffee.

Beautifully situated on the waterfront, opposite Queen Anne's Battery Marina. Wonderful panoramic views in all directions and a hot spot if you catch the sun right. Outside decor and furniture's not all that and could do with an update but the food, wine and service is divine. I only had a starter and was pleasantly surprised - king prawns I chorizo and garlic cream based sauce, served with garlic buttered Ciabataa on the side, & a wedge of lemon. I also had a glass of Pinot Noir Della Venezie, sharp, crisp and delisch with the food.
9 Opinions
Awful from start to finish. The staff were clueless and the food and drinks were mediocre at a push. Loaded fries were more like semi dusted with topping and straight out of the freezer. The buttermilk chicken burger was more like a mini chicken fillet. When we complained we were met with a staff member who obviously wasn’t trained to deal with complaints as her response was ‘you keep complaining’! I would not recommend this restaurant and I find it strange how they claim to have hundreds of happy customers but only a handful of reviews on TA. Work out what you are. Are you a cocktail bar or a restaurant? May I also suggest that if you are the owner you maybe spend a bit more time working at your own restaurant and also train your staff.

The coffee is great and the best prices around for the quality and size. The light bites were delicious, again very well priced for what you get. Would definitely recommend if you aren’t too fussed about coffee with a view or environment or brand name.
