When it comes to customer service this cafe offers none. Everything is wrong with the older lady who appears to own the business. Her tone, mannerisms and general way of speaking to customers comes across as rude. We put the parasol next to our table up as it was baking hot and got shouted at to put it back down again - apparently because of the wind. We ordered off the menu board and were told very abruptly that there was no hot food and to order something else. Both of these points are absolutely fine - it is the way she went about telling me! All snarly and aggressive. I also asked for some tap water for my dog and was met with another shouty response that they did not do water for dogs. We decided to buy a bottle of water for our dog but still she was not happy to help with a container of any description! Bearing in mind half of this business is an ice cream parlour, who presumably have empty ice cream tubs almost daily, the lack of containers puzzled me. Furthermore, when you read previous reviews all saying the same about dog water, as a business owner, would it not be wise to hold onto a tub or two to keep the customers happy and wanting to return? Clearly not at Surf n Sail, they like to be as rude as possible and leave customers as unhappy as possible. On a positive note, the location is fab and the ice cream is great. Such a shame all classes on customer service appear to have been missed by the owner!

First and last visit!!. Owners friend came in off the street, didnt wash her hands or take her coat off and served us our order!! Worst cup of tea weve ever had. It was like hot dish water! Only positive about this place is the lovely view!

I usually only take time to leave good reviews but it needs to said how rude the staff here. We brought so coffees and like the previous review we asked for some water for our dog and even offered to pay for it and just got a blatant no with a bad attitude and sour face. A real shame as it's a lovely seaside spot! I don't know why such unfriendly people go into hospitality

Wife asked assistant if she could fill a bottle of tap water for the dog, the reply was a blatant NO! I then went and asked the second assistant who moaned about not being her job grabbed the bottle and put about a third of water in it. Totally unnecessary, unfriendly and very unpleasant ladies.

This place is in a prime location on Shanklin beach and consists of an ice cream shack and a small cafe. Our first stop was for ice cream, there were many flavours to choose from, considering the location the prices were reasonable. There are a number of tables for patrons to sit at. Our second visit was for a lunchtime meal, I ordered a cheese and ham ploughmans lunch - somewhat expensive at just under £10.00. There was a large chunk of cheese two or three slices of ham and a mountain of salad. Service was a little slow, but that just meant we had more time to sit and take in the view and top up the tan. Overall, a nice place to sit and watch the world go by.

Happened upon this small, but wonderfully-located little cafe on Shanklin seafront. After checking it was dog-friendly, my husband grabbed a seat looking out onto the beach while I ordered and paid at the counter. Decent breakfast food and coffee - with the most perfect view. Lovely!

We had morning coffee and lunch later for two consecutive days. Excellent service and they bring the food to your table. Our meals were served with salad garnish in a bowl and a few crisps in a bowl. Tasty meals and reasonably priced. A cup of tea for a pound. Marvellous. Try it. Opposite the lift on the beach side. Cash only.

I ordered an ice cream (which was delicious), but couldn't pay for it because I had no cash. The owner trusted me, I went to the bank to get cash, and when I came back, he offered me the ice cream for free to thank me for my honesty. Great customer service.

Great location and my hopes were high but was devastated to see a sign advising that they were unable to warm milk or heat baby food ... this attitude belongs in the 1980's ... i could be kind and suggest that their cooker or microwave was out of order but they were managing to churn out other hot food without issue My cup of tea was very nice but we will not be visiting again due to the above

This is just simply the best place for refreshments on Shanklin beach, perfectly placed, it’s just lovely to sit and watch the world go by right next to the beach. Good food, great coffee but no indoor seating.

Very pleasant staff and nice location on the front with plenty of good outside seating protected with windbreaks. Illy coffee very reasonable, served with a smile. Food prices were good with sandwiches averaging around £4.

Rude and arrogant owners, staff and regulars. They do not appreciate tourists and are happy to charge well over the odds for poor quality ingredients. Dreadful experience, dreadful atmosphere and one to definitely avoid with so many other quality offerings to choose from within easy walking distance. Times for cafes like this have long gone - they need to change with the market and quickly.

Visited during the Car Festival. Just a basic bar in a large building serving in plastic cups. Cheaper than expected.

Excellent Sunday lunch. As a walking party of four with a dog, we were made very welcome in the main restaurant. Staff were responsive, kind and even brought a bowl of water and a treat to our table for our dog. The food was excellent. Between us had the roast beef, roast turkey and gammon Sunday lunch. The roast potatoes were lovely and crispy and the vegetables plentiful, varied and cooked to perfection. The desserts were fabulous. One of the best tiramisu deserts I have had and my friends highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie trifle. Ignore the low star reviews. This is a lovely place for dinner/lunch.

Beautiful fresh sea Bream brought today. Really helpful and filleted one for me as my mother in law doesn't like it whole. Very tasty and we have a lovely chat with the lady behind the counter about the trade and the buisness. We will return when back 🙂
