Saigon in Suffolk Coastal

My favourite restaurant in Felixstowe. The food is incredible and the staff are amazing. I am a vegetarian and they always bring me out a wonderful variety and recommend different dishes to try. I highly recommend this restaurant, its the best.

Always really good food and friendly service

Very busy on a Thurs evening. Table booked at 7, all ordered eat as much as you like - over 20 of us. Good choice of food however didn't get mains (you get starters and duck pancacke courses before) until 9.30 PM which was rather late for kids.

The staff are welcoming and helpful, steering us away from a poor combination of foods. The salt and chilli squid and the spring rolls were lovely, and the fish curries had plenty of plump prawns, though the leek and coriander sauce was a bit bland. So far it's a solid 4 stars. The room though is a big bleak box, with sound rattling off the walls. Some pictures and acoustic ceiling tiles would make a big difference.

Excellent food, great service, excellent value for money. Soft drinks I.e coke etc flat. Only disappointment.

5* as always for this superb restaurant! We live in Felixstowe and have NEVER had a bad meal at Siagon. I cannot count how many times we have been! The food is out of this world and their satay sauce remains the best I have ever tasted (in England or Thailand). I chose this restaurant for my birthday (November 2023) as I knew everyone would enjoy it! The food is 10/10. However, the decor has always been a bit of a let down, but since COVID, they have made it prettier. But do not let that put you off as I would still dress up to go there, but it’s all about the food! We have never had a bad meal. You won’t be disappointed!

Popped in after a few drinks at a wine bar. Didn't need to book though it got busier as the night went on. Food was tasty and prompt to the table after ordering. We'll worth the visit.

Disappointed with this place. Very plain starters. Average main courses. Not much sense of eating Vietnamese food. Staff and service very good. No atmosphere.

Really loved everything. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was amazing with a lot of options, and the service was excellent! It's a must go to place if you're in town. Try those curries!

It's good but a broader menu would get 5 stars. But everything else was lovely.

Went to the Saigon again as friends were going, the first visit was terrible, this second visit was worse as the chilli beef that was nice last time is no longer on the menu. It's an expensive place to go and the food is bland and tasteless. Again we had to wait nearly 3 hours for food,leaving you time to order once before they want to empty the shop. Order your drinks 3 at a time as this is the only way around the shocking service.And try to order as many dishes as possible for the same reason. Now instead of letting you order the food you want to eat they just bring you a heap of stuff-if you have asked for something specific you may not get it because instead of serving you your order they stick it on a plate to be shared! A sure fire way to make you angry as you'll be starving after the 3 hour wait for food. The chilli beef is gone,so they no longer have that tasty dish,they cannot do curry-it is awful,the noodles are a similar sad story, and the fact they cant make curry to go with your noodles means its just a bland dish-like having a roast with no gravy. There is only 1 place to go for this sort of meal in the area and that is in Ipswich. I will just turn down the next offer to go there as it is just a frustrating,hungry,bland and disappointing night out.

Decided to book a table last minute; so glad we did as it is always full. Sharing platter to start, curries and noodles for mains. Food is excellent, service swift and friendly. Considering the quality of the food the prices are extremely reasonable. If you’re more concerned about the decor of a place than whether the food is top notch then maybe you should choose somewhere else; our experience-along with many other 5-star reviews- is that if you appreciate really tasty food then go here!

Great food at this no frills Asian restaurant

We had an excellent meal at Siagon this evening. The food was amazing with brilliant and friendly service. Thank you so much. We will definitely be returning soon!

Last meal with the girls before I retire at the end of Jan. 23 and the Saigon did us proud great time and one to treasure.

Always brilliant service and food. We have been coming for years and never had bad meal. Lovely house wine too.

Delicious food, very good value for money and helpful attentive waiters. Only slight criticism is that there is no background music and the small table I was sat at had another table quite close to it so you couldn't chat in a relaxed way. Would definitely recommend

This restaurant has been very nicely refurbished since my last visit and now has beautiful screens. The lazy Susan and round table made for great conversation and the ability to order and try different items on the menu. The dishes were very tasty and for £22.50 per person, you can order as many as you wish. Staff are friendly and efficient and we did not feel rushed at all. A very enjoyable experience

A bit outdated, really slow with a service, a bit too pricey for place like this. We had buffet and as a vegetarian I could only chose from very little. Vegetable dumpling have been really good, everyone seems to be happy with a food. It's just place itself. Some spot light have been covered with paper and our table was full for empty glasses. We waited for an hour for starters and even more for the mains.. I could see lots of fingerprints on my dishes too. Not very clean. I would put 2 stars but as food was good enough it's 3 from me.

Not had Vietnamese before and this was nice. Crispy duck was a lovely starter. Smoked chicken, wasn't sure about this one, had a fishy taste to it. Pancake rolls were different, couldn't place the taste, spicy beef strip's were wonderful. Chicken and pork curry, very nice except the pineapple! Kung po chicken, shredded beef both great meals! Southern fried noodle, lush! I was told the Southern fried rice was very nice as well. Wasn't busy tonight, only a couple other tables so food came out pretty quick and for all you can eat at £22.95 you can't go wrong.

Everything is fantastic here, Love that your table is yours for the night, the staff are so friendly and efficient and the food is the best we have tasted anywhere, always our 1st choice, thank you

Fantastic food fantastic service Called here for food with family after looking at the reviews thought this place needs a visit. The food choices were amazing the food came out and was fresh and hot the portions were very good will definitely be calling here when I’m next in felixtowe. Great tasty food, friendly staff, not to be missed.

Went with the family including the grandchildren. Warm welcome, food was outstanding. We had starters and then main course, because we had enjoyed it so much we opted for more starters instead of a dessert. The seabass was to die for, scallops and prawns, mmmmmmmmm. The children from 2 to 10 ate everything and can't wait to go again. Service was friendly and extremely efficient. When the bill came I couldn't believe how reasonable it was. I cannot recommend Saigon highly enough. Thank you Punka

Lovely friendly staff, place was heaving but seemed to be unfazed. Had all you can eat and every dish was great. Nothing salty. All fresh cooked and hot. Wish I lived nearer!

Got served twice in 2 hours, food took ages to come out, kitchen shut early with no heads up before we even finished food, Mentioned this and wasn’t offered any discount or even sorry, went home hungry still. Then rang next day to explain that I wasn’t happy with the service, to then get shouted at on the phone, told me to shut up, and hung up the phone. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL, POOR SERVICE AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER !!! Do not go here! You will be disappointed ☹️

We haven’t eaten here for a few years but the evening didn’t disappoint. A good choice of starters, a fairly small selection of main courses, however, everything is freshly cooked to order and is hot and tasty (really lovely sauces). The ‘all you can eat’ option is great value for money - we couldn’t believe the crispy duck was included, and a good portion at that. The restaurant was heaving - at least 4 big tables - and service was understandably quite slow. This actually worked well, giving us time to digest the starters. The young waiter and waitresses were polite and helpful. We will definitely return! Next time we need to once again sample the soft shelled crab and garlic scallops.

Starters great, duck is good, main course the same just different meat. Toilets Disgusting needs updating can’t even wash your hands properly because there is no way of drying them . PLACE NEEDS A UPDATE

Excellent freshly cooked tasty food, at a good price we had the set menu A, ate all of it! Friendly staff, go eat there you won't be disapointed.

very simple small menu but the food is so tasty and with the all you can eat option you can sit back and let loose, everything cooked to order. The only thing thats keeping this place from getting that 5th star is the decor and toilets, please do yourself a favour and give the place a much needed update, new tables & chairs and redo the bathrooms.

Visited Saturday 28 Sep 19 1st and last time We had read reviews on here and were looking forward to a fabulous meal We explained that it was our 1st time and that we would leave it to them to bring us out a selection of dishes. Our menus were then taken away by a young woman with completely the wrong attitude for this type of work. Throughout the evening we tried to engage with her to be just stared at no conversation was attempted by her and our plates / cutlery were literally thrown onto the table. A starter platter was brought out consisting of 2 spare ribs / 2 bits of pork / some chicken type stuff?? And 2 chicken satay kebabs. It was OK at best. The owner (assume) asked us if we had finished and then cleared away We were then brought out 3 duck pancakes quite tasty but I prefer to double wrap the pancakes . Again we were asked if we had finished and the plates etc were cleared away We were then brought out the main 4 dishes (not full size) and 1 bowl of rice. We were asked again if we had finished and at that point the entire table was cleared and a dessert menu thrown on the table. At this point we left . All in all we have had far better food elsewhere, far better service, and never ever have we left a venue still hungry. Utterly disappointed we will not be re-visiting

We are lucky to live close by, and have eaten here a couple of times. This place has lovely food, very tasty! Both times we have been are on the all you can eat at set price which is nice because you can try food that you wouldn't normally order. It's usually busy here, so booking is advised. The decor could do with a little sprucing but all in all you won't be disappointed. The sharing platter with shredded duck and wraps with dips is just delicious and so are the ribs!

Lovely food here not cheap but you do get to taste lots of dishes which is the way the menu is here buffet style amazing food.highly recommend

Went on a Wednesday night for a friend’s 60th birthday, table of 12. There was only 1 other table occupied. The food was delicious. I only had the Saigon platter to start as had to leave early, but the rest of the table opted for the all you can eat buffet, with lots of choices. Half way through the meal they brought out shredded duck, dipping sauce and pancakes. All freshly cooked and hot. Would recommend the spare ribs. Modest decor but flavoursome Chinese food. Only downside, is on the previous occasion we visited, we had felt pushed out when the waitress thought we had ordered enough. But, still went again and would recommend.

Attentive service and lovely food, definitely be back with the hubby

We were taken here vwith two of our friends we had all you can eat at a set price it was a Saturday night and although every table was taken the service was great not rushed and the food was delicious! We had two starters each, there was 4 of us lots of choices and we had ribs prawns and lots more this was placed in the middle of the table and we shared it out ,,,it was so tasty half way through the meal they brought out shredded duck with dipping sauces and wraps,,,we then picked a main course each and once again these were shared out between the four of us ,,,,this was more than enough for all four of us and great value,,,the reason for the 4 stars was the toilets need updating badly especially were food is being served and lots of customers using them,,that was my only gripe apart from that,,,,, first class food and we will probably be going their again this year ,,,thank you to all the staff Good health to all

Had another really lovely meal at Saigon with friends and family, food wonderfully fresh and tasty. Always would recommend the Salt & Chilli Aubergine. All of us really enjoyed the food, and were very well looked after!

Food was lovely, highly recommend. We were here for a party and we really took our time but not once did we feel rushed. The process of about £20 a head for all you can eat is well worth it as the food is fresh and delicious. Of note is the pork patties which just melt in the mouth, and the potato fritters are so crisp and sweet. We will definitely be dining again.

We recently visited Saigon with some friends for the first time in ages. The food was very good and the all you can eat buffet menu was great value. Mixed hors d'oevre starters, plenty of duck pancakes, and great selection of mains. My favourites were the prawns in a really light batter and sweet and sour chicken, but everything was good and they were very amenable to the gluten free dietary requirements of two of our party.

Sorry not for me im affraid. I ordered beef curry with fried rice it tasted like Kraft cheesy pasta was also a yellowish colour. Staff pleasant enoughsorry but wont be going back. Sandra

We have not been for a few years, the place could definitely do with some updating, it looks a bit tired.

Went in on Saturday night (we have been many times) we chose the eat what you wish option , we ordered two plates of mixed starters all.of which was delicious and beautifully served then duck and pancakes lovely. My main was beef with chilly and lime this is amazing it has a lovely hint of mint . All this totally stuffed 4 adults £100.00 brilliant value...........I will.one day get the recipe for that beef!!!!!!!

I would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant. The food is always freshly cooked and you have the choice of choosing individual items from the menu or eat as much as you can for a set price. The food is delicious and the service is great.

We visited on Saturday and went for buffet 16.50£ pp.Starters was very small in portions so would recommend to order more.

this is not Vietnamese Restaurant. this is chineses restaurant. yes the owner is vietnamese but the food not.

I never complain about restaurants and always except that sometimes there will be an ‘off day’ however, I feel compelled to comment on the last two experiences we have had as a family of 8 at Saigons.... on the first visit in question the service was so bad that we waited 25 minutes before getting a drink. The starters were another half an hour and the main course was not far short of that either! All told, we spent over 3 hours from 8.30pm till 11.30pm waiting around for each course! This aside, the toilets can only be described as ‘unbelievably filthy’ I am sure that I can’t be the only one to notice the dust, broken seat and urine stains in the ladies ? I am also reliably informed, by the male members of our group, the men’s is no better! After this experience we didn’t return for sometime, until last weekend when we returned for a birthday celebration. The toilets are still the same! The service has not improved (very short staffed) but this time I had an elastic band in my noodles 😳. The poor waitress was extremely apologetic and tried to explain how it got there but more importantly, no explanation nor apology from Sue, the owner! We had £20 knocked off the bill. To be frank, I know that we can’t always get it right, but really! Is this the sort of standard we should expect/accept when we pay good money for a family night out? Come on Saigons, clean up your act otherwise others will be voting with their feet!

Food not bad but not great either. Small portions for a family group do suggest you order double. Also only 3 waitresses on so food service was very slow.

Really superb food with good service

Good quality food, but it felt more like Chinese than Vietnamese when I visited. There were many traditional Vietnamese dishes that were not on the menu at all and the desserts were definately western style not Vietnamese

Fantastic food, really enjoyed the all you can eat £18 buffet.

Came here with family for buffet on Christmas eve. Enjoyed the starters and duck. Kids chose more starters instead of main dishes which Saigon doesn't mind.

We visited this restaurant a month ago and to be honest it was very poor, the food was very bland no flavour and the decor needs a major makeover, it's dull and dirty outside and inside not much better, the staff could do with cheering up as they look like they do not want to be there, standards have dropped .

Nos apetecía un Chino mientras visitaba a Felixstowe y decidimos en Saigón, después de leer las críticas de aquí. Nos encantó, disfrutamos de la 'todo lo que pueda comer", ya que queríamos una selección de aperitivos. Todos eran deliciosos y los platos principales estamos muy rico, aunque el huevo frito arroz era un poco de zapallo para nosotros, tenía un sabor floury.
