Late with delivery, however, driver was really nice and apologised. The food itself was really hot, so it made up for the late order. Overall, pretty good. I think the rice could be a bit better but was tasty and lamb was soft. Thank you!

I usually eat from Indian Ocean which is just as good as this. I wanted a Lamb Tikka Masala as I didn't fancy Madras and wanted a change turns out Indian Ocean don't have them on their menu so searched where I could get one and choose here. Curries are never average usually they are bad or brilliant no in between. It came in about half an hour glowing red and looked like it was full of flavour and man was it this was absolutely beautiful hot and just made my stomach very happy. For this dish I will order here say no more absolutely beautiful!

Food took an hour and twenty minutes on a weeknight - not sure what happened there. It tasted fine but chicken was chewy, quite disappointed really.

The chops were cold and chewy and so was the lamb bhuna. Chips were hard and so was the nan bread.

Not the best food today. Dishes seemed greasier, and the Vegetable Balti was 90% onions - for a main meal, we felt short-changed.

Just ordered a meal and half the menu was missing rang up to complain to be told that was what we ordered which it wasn't and still charged full price! Wouldn't even reimburse or listen to us when we told u what we ordered but still charged us for everything that was missing!

Poor food, too spicy and salty. cheap ingredients. Not worth of what I paid for. Not worth the money.

Fantastic, hot and delicious, definitely my go-to Indian now. Also appreciate that they just do sauces of the main curry flavours which are great as a side rather than getting a whole other main dish. Awesome.

I have had several meals from Saffron Spice now. Mainly Chicken garlic chilli balti. The food is always delicious. You can tell that quality ingredients are used. The staff are friendly and helpful. If I want something slightly different, nothing seems to be a trouble. If you like your curry hot, I can highly recommend the Lanka piaza chef's special. Not disappointing with the heat and doesn't compromise on flavour. Our new favourite takeaway in York.

Consistently the best takeaway in Acomb, if not the whole of York. We especially really love the chicken livers, tarka dahl, puri. I could eat those every day and be very happy. Beautiful authentic genuine hearty food.

I'm always a bit sceptical about curry houses given that I have a nut allergy and some places have been utter rubbish when it comes to helping. Saffron Spice though went the extra mile. Rang them up to enquire, and the guy at the end of the phone showed full understanding and respect from the word go. He sorted me out a dish, and I was able to enjoy my meal at home without any problems. This has now become my local curry takeaway. If you have an allergy or intolerance, give them a ring - they're bloody awesome.

Disappointing Service - Attention To Detail: Although we have been loyal (but clearly not valued) clients of Saffron for around 3-4 years. Food quality is good - but too often penny-pinching occurs with things like pickle trays/sauces for poppadoms. These things cost pence and containers have been reduced in size and never over-generous- on several occasions I have to remind them that we are owed a pot of yoghurt sauce. Ordered tonight and pickle tray was totally omitted. When I queried this (after returning home) - Saffron insinuated that it was my responsibility to check the bill. I never check the bill and do not expect to check what is actually in the bag/order. Disappointed- will not return. Taken for granted too often.

Wow just wow best Indian food I’ve ever had so fresh nice portions

Just finished our second takeaway and won't be the last. We are vegetarian and you feel they put as much effort into these dishes as the meat ones. Sometimes Curry's can all taste a bit the same but every dish from here tastes unique with good quality ingredients. Really really tasty stuff. Looking forward to our next order already.

Absolutely love the food here. Only discovered it last year and it's on my doorstep!

Have been coming here for some time but unfortunately I have to give this bad review as I'd ordered a banquet for 2.... When it arrived 1: the order was wrong 2: the order was cold So I called the takeaway to tell them about this and was mortified when he told me to microwave it, there was no apology just told to heat it up and get £5 off next time even though I'd asked for them to come and collect it as its only round the corner. Won't be going here again! Hi thanks for ur reply but I'm a bit puzzled as 'Mr woody' is not my partner, sorry but I do not know this person and I think that your comment is rather rude and presumptuous.... Jumping to conclusions rather than reply in a desent manner to my review. An apology would have been enough to be honest and most probably would have come back to you guys as like iv said the food has always been great just unfortunate it wasn't that time and neither was the conversation on the phone....hey ho! Try not to jump to conclusions in future as you've put 2 and 2 together but unfortunately got 10 as your reply is so wrong and you may want to apologise to Mr woody he could be married or anything...like I said iv no idea who he is. Good food only down side is you can't use for bank card for payment

Very poor. Deep fried fish was really good. There it ends. Prawns were undercooked. Okra was undercooked and inedible. Chapati was not cooked enough. Total waste of money.

Called in for a take away a couple of weeks ago. Specified quite clearly what we wanted. When I said I didn't want my Rogan Josh as hot as on a previous visitI did not mean temperature-wise. Spicewise one dish had been added to another rather than following simple requests from scratch. Rang to complain and was insulted. Won't go again.

Usually foods sound but spent £45 pound yesterday and the food was cold wrong order and took ages to get to me rang them and the bloke was very rude and refused to come and change it very disappointed especially when they told me to put it in the microwave wont ever go there again like I say when the orders right no problem but if you ring them because they have got it wrong there very rude

Lived in York two years, tried a few different Indians and luckily the one that's a two minute walk away happens to be my favourite! We don't order from anywhere else now, food is excellent, always boiling hot when we receive it. Good value too as you get loads.

Had a takeaway lamb balti simply the best I have ever had get yourselves to saffron spice .

Had the Special mixed kebab on nann tonight and the food was outstanding by far the best kebab I have eaten in a long time, the mint sauce is to die for. Can't wait to explore more of the menu, my new favourite Indian in York and worth the travel from Stockton on the forest 😋 delicious

Very good Curry and Biryani. The lamb was perfectly tender juicy and spicy. Highly recommend. Free poppadoms and an extra discount was added. Good value. Make sure you bring cash as card is not accepted in store.

Best biriyani among all York indian restaurants. Undoubtedly their biriyani is better than others.

I ordered a curry from here for the first time this weekend. The quality was excellent. Great portion sizes and the quality of the chicken was excellent. I'll definitely order again.

Recommended by a friend so gave it a go. I had the garlic king prawn balti and wife had a tandori mixed grill type dish . They were both amazing and on time (few mins early). Without doubt the best Indian takeaway Ive ever had in York by a long way.

Have had 4 takeaways from here now. The chicken chat was really tasty. We've enjoyed everything from the khari,, balti, butter chicken and king prawn Madras. The Madras is on the hotter side which I like but they will spice how you ask. The butter chicken is our son's new favorite & he normally goes for jalfazi so a complete contrast. We all share everything tbh though. Will order again soon.

Before arriving in Acomb, the chef, staff, manager and ownership of Saffron served the same menu in Linton on Ouse for more than ten years. Mild dishes to hot, all were loved in our house, and a great hit with visiting friends.

Great to have the Saffron Spice team back doing what they do best - serving up The Best Indian food. No other Indian comes close (imo)! Such a great team who are very accommodating. Always great specials to try on the menu and all reasonably priced. Give it a try!!
