We have just arrived back at our hotel after a visit to Cote in York. We are in the city celebrating our anniversary and fancied somewhere we've never tried before for our evening meal out. We are so glad we chose Cote. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was cosy and the food was delicious. We're both veggie and went for the onion soup and souffle to start and for mains we chose the ratatouille and mushroom bourguignon. The bourguignon had fable mushrooms which are packed full of flavour. The cocktails were really refreshing and well made too. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely visit again. Thank you to our server, bartender and chef for such a lovely evening :)

Such lovely warm atmosphere, food was divine and portion size was fabulous and for the quality, not over priced. Ordered was the faugasse (garlic bread) soft and fresh and well seasoned. Also had confit pork belly aswell as beef cheek bourguignon. Beef fell apart and was delicious! Both were wonderful and a side of frites. Staff were really polite and smiley and didn’t wait long for food.

Hello Me and two friends ate her, tonight, for the first time. We came in coz it was quiet, compared to everywhere else! We enjoyed the dècor and ambience very much. •I had French Onion soup and a portion if truffle chips - it was excellent soup with real depth of flavour. The Comté croutes were lovely - as were the chips. All piping hot. •One friend had baked ratatouille with the beans almondine. Piping hot and totally delicious. •His wife had moules and frites. They were lukewarm at best - as was the broth they were in and the frites. We summoned a waitress (I think she may have been French or Italian? Long, dark hair tied back) She apologised profusely and returned, 10 minutes later with a new dish of piping hot moules and broth and chips and a further (sincere apology). When the bill arrived you didn't charge for the moules - we'd have gladly paid! We found the menu competitively priced. I'll leave this same review on social media and Trust Pilot. We'll return and will recommend to our friends.

This was a last minute booking whilst in York and our first visit. The food, service and wine were all excellent. We had three courses, which I rarely do and all courses were amazing. We will definitely be back!

The Sunday lunch was good and very well cooked! Unfortunately, even though the platters were supposed to be shared in twos they were not near enough food for two growing teenage boys. I wish the waiter had warned us than let us order them and then have to also order supplementary mains.

Very poor standard of food and over priced for what we ordered. I ordered a chargrilled chicken salad but what actually came was smelly, tough, and unseasoned PORK made to look like chicken and which I almost sent back. I left most of it and so was charged £13 + for a very expensive bowl of rocket leaves. PORK? I hate Pork and the smell of unseasoned Pig was unmistakeable. My husband ordered fish pie which was so minute it would not have satisfied a childs portion. Very expensive, very poor quality, AND THEY EXPECT CUSTOMERS TO ACCEPT IT??? Will not be going back. It was my 60th and it has left a very bad taste in my mouth, quite literally!! Yours disgruntled. Should have gone to M&S!!!! An £80 shop would have filled our fridge.

We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival, and despite the bustling Saturday atmosphere in York, the establishment efficiently accommodated our party of four as walk-in guests. The ambiance was delightful, the culinary offerings were of exceptional quality, and the service was commendable. Additionally, the cleanliness of the facilities, including the restroom facilities, was remarkable. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable evening of dining. Our compliments extend to the chefs for their remarkable culinary creations.

Came here for our 10th anniversary and had a great night. Service was outstanding from the second we came in, received a complimentary glass of bubbly for our anniversary, but they saw my fiance was pregnant and gave her a non-alcoholic one. My partner asked for tomatoes (a craving) to be added to her salad and not only did they duely oblige but when the waitress came back round and saw how many she had, she brought an extra bowl of them out. Food was very good and extremely well priced for what you would normally pay for this type of food.

4 of us, my brother and I with our partners, shared a lovely New Year's Day dinner in York on Monday. The restaurant had a welcoming ambience, though there weren't many diners as the weather was bad. Myself and my partner are both coeliacs .We love Côte because here there is a dedicated gluten-free menu , which the staff had ready for us on arrival. This makes such a difference from other restaurants who claim they can offer suitable food, but when your meal arrives, many items have been removed because they contain gluten or worse still , the staff have forgotten to mention your needs to the kitchen. I ordered the fish pie, which was delicious and piping hot whilst my partner had the poule gratin, which he really enjoyed. My brother tucked into the boeuf bourguinon whilst his partner very much liked her quiche Lorraine. We chose various sweets afterwards , including the delicious ice cream, followed by coffees. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and we had a lovely evening. Our only regret is that our nearest Côte, in Leeds, closed down

Dropped into Cote York for lunch today as we were walking past (hadn’t been before). We were so pleased we did. The food, wine and service was excellent and we will definitely be back the next time we visit York. Top class!

This place totally rocked our taste buds! We kicked things off with awesome Mussels and super tasty Calamari. The Pork belly with Cabbage and dauphinoise potatoes was a flavour explosion, and the Steak tartare was just incredible. The staff were so chill and friendly, making us feel right at home. The small, cozy setup of the restaurant gave off real good vibes, making our lunch date feel intimate and sweet. A top spot for yummy food, great service, and friendly and relaxed atmosphere!

Outstanding especially for a chain restaurant

We booked the table as a surprise celebration for my Dad's birthday. France is his second home, so he loves French food! We'd not eaten at Cote before, but we were not disappointed! The staff were absolutely amazing and managed to seat my parents at a separate table until we'd all arrived ensuring it was a proper surprise for him! The food was delicious and both my gluten free Mum and daughter with a peanut allergy were well catered for! The ambience was fabulous, helped further by the festive time of year; overall it was a very special celebration that we'll all remember- many thanks to everyone at Cote York! Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas :)

Very busy and noisy it is the festive season after all! Service was slow again it is festive season. I always find the quality and presentation of food good at the Cote and York was no exception.

Gluten free menu is excellent. Great food and great value for money, especially three course menu 😋

I was disappointed with the venue. Office party of 10. Had to wait over an hour for main course, which was inedible for a couple of guests. Paid over £600 and they added 10% service charge without asking (verbally). Probably in their terms and conditions somewhere. Won't be going there again.

Visited many times. Staff always courteous and accommodating. Excellent food, good value and good wine selection. Don't let steps on Low Petergate put you off if wheelchair user. They will open side door and you can access restaurant through flat yard albeit with small bump to go over into restaurant itself.

We had an excellent lunch on Saturday, food absolutely delightful, service excellent, really feel value for money.

We visited as a family. We’ve had a tough past 12 months and this occasion was very special for us. The restaurant had the champagne ready at our table. The whole evening was perfect and we are so glad that we chose this restaurant we all enjoyed lovely food but the staff really made it for us. They were all the right mix of professional, friendly and happy! It’s great to feel valued as a customer and to enjoy your night with happy people. As with every Cote we have visited, the service was exemplary, and the food and wine were excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

We have been here a few times now and it never disappoints. The menu has something for everyone including a vegan burger. We sat in the window which was great for people watching. Service was efficient and professional. We will definitely go again.

Visited for a meal with my husband. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and had great toilets. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

We are used to visiting the Cote in Cardiff Bay and it was useful to visit another in the chain but the quality of service and food was the same, excellent. It would be wrong to name anyone for a special mention as they worked as a very good team. I don't often visit York but will be back.

Booked the table under the surname Johnson for 20:30 on 30/9/23 we where tourists to York and having eaten with the same company on the night at different Cotês we where pleased to find the service a duplicate of the one in Manchester. Rowan was our Waitress for evening and she was very polite and attentive to our needs I hope this review will be acknowledged by Management that Rowan is deserving of praise for her effort. Every member of staff smiled back. We had visited Impossible York and found the opposite to be true when dealing with waiters/waitresses. The food was delicious as it usually always is and priced competitively I will say however two out of three ordered the Praline filled profiteroles to be shared and found that disappointing mainly because some of them weren't filled and I could taste subtle notes of sourness so I don't know if the cream expired or maybe I have a strange palate, the only suggestion I would like to make is fill the profiteroles with a sweet Praline ganache instead they should receive a better reception. On our way out we asked to pay and was dealt with promptly by a cute waiter known as Zach smiling like a Cheshire Cat.

My experience at Cote York was delightful! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious, and having a quiet table at the front of the restaurant with a window seat allowed us to enjoy both the excellent cuisine and a charming view of the street (particularly as I’m nosey and like to see what’s going on!) I had the rump of lamb with ratatouille and my partner had the moules and frites. Both were cooked well. For dessert, I had the elderflower creme brûlée which was lovely and my partner had the salted caramel chocolate tart which he was delighted with. I highly recommend Cote York for a fantastic dining experience!

I had dinner solo in Cote and my server was really lovely - the perfect balance of chatty but not intrusive. The food came quickly, and I really enjoyed it, it was just how I like it. The prefixe menu is such good value - very handy when you are travelling for work and you are on a budget. It meant I had budget for dessert (hurray) and I would highly recommend the chocolate mousse, it was delicious. My only complaints are small: the restaurant had just been repainted, so my experience was spoiled a little by the smell of that. I was also left at the end of my meal when it got busy, which was a bit frustrating as that was when I was tired and wanted to leave - I think it was one of the more senior staff as well which surprised me a little. They took my dessert plate and just... left. No offer of coffee or the bill, no eye contact, nothing. Thankfully my lovely server from earlier spotted me and came to the rescue so I could settle up and go.

Had a lovely birthday meal at Cote. The winning dish was definitely the Cheese Souffle for a starter. Absolutely gorgeous. Service was brilliant. Overall a lovely experience.

I was in a quite a large party which may have had an effect on the speed of service. It was a very slow start to our meal though. The food is ok but I found the beef bourguignon too heavy with garlic and salt. The meal portions were also small for the price. Not the most attractive interior but this is a chain restaurant so they can’t do much about that.

We came on a Wednesday and had the steak soirée deal - delicious food, great value for money, buzzing atmosphere and brilliant service.

We didn't have a reservation but that wasn't a problem despite a couple of large groups being present and it only being 5pm. We had a fix-prix menu at under £20 with plenty of choices. Waiting staff were prompt,polite and friendly without being intrusive, and the courses came in good time. Each dish was delicious and just the right amount for us.

Really think this is one of the best Cote's with good food and service.

The team at Cote are fantastic. We came in for my mum’s 60th and we were given bubbly on the house, as well as a happy birthday plate with cake and ice cream. The food was delicious and the staff were so lovely and attentive. I lost the review card so can’t remember her name, but the blonde lady with the fringe was amazing (think her name began with a C?) and the lad with the beard. Really made my mum feel so special on her birthday, so thank you so much!!

So you want to know what do crossaint people eat on a daily basis? While here it is! Côte is where you’ll find it!!! Côte York offers two menus, Ala carte and the Fixe menu. Tonight I chose the Fixe menu. The Fixe menu offers a starter, main and a dessert. For a solid £20.25. Which is a bundle, I’d say. For starters I order the Moules (Mussels), it is served in a bowl of light tomato chilli broth which pairs excellently. Albeit, my camaraderies and myself have uncover that there were several overcooked and undercooked mussels. Next was the mains, I ordered the frugal grilled chicken. Cooked to excellence, juicy, tender and paired with a umami packed mushroom cream sauce. The arugula cuts the fattiness of the sauce which was a great addition to the dish. Lastly was the Blueberry clafoutis, it is paired with a ice cream and blueberry coulis. The coulis breaks down the sweetness of the clafoutis and the ice cream cools it right down to where it is warm. I enjoyed it. So if you want to have some fun with your taste buds, come to Côte where they serve a exquisite budget priced meal. 🍽️ 🇫🇷

What a great experience we had at this Restaurant on Saturday 8th July. The staff were extremely pleasant and prompt. Food was recommended to us by our waiter and everything came well presented and very tasty. There were 4 of us and we all throughly enjoyed it. The waiters even called a taxi to get us home. Friendly service, could have done with more lamb /bigger portion ,My son wouldn't have been impressed by it definitelywouldn'tsufficehis appetite. Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about. It was a quiet week night when we visited ,we weren't rushed, which was pleasant. I wouldn't rush back, but neither would I avoid.

Very good cuisine and quality welcome. After 3 weeks of English cuisine we were relieved to rediscover the codes of French cuisine with local products. Very nice table with cloth napkins. Impeccable sanitary facilities.

Visited on a Monday late afternoon, got seated straight away in a nice air conditioned area of the restaurant. Cheese soufflé was amazing and our steaks were so well cooked. Great food and service, would definitely return.
