After travelling back from holiday, the last thing we fancied was shopping let alone cooking. My husband is very picky about takeaways and would rather eat porridge than revisit some of the takeaways in the past but seeing the reviews of Saffron I talked him into giving it a go. Got lost walking through the door and ended up in the hotel but I missed the door but once we found the bar we were greeted with a very warm welcome. This is definitely a hidden treasure! We decided to eat in rather than takeaway. The service, you couldn’t ask for better. I was having a hot chilli moment, my husband was choking on poppadom and he rushed over with 2 pint glasses of water without asking. The food was amazing, tasted just how it used to in the 90’s, full of flavour. Just the right amount. Will definitely be returning and even my husband asked for a takeaway menu!! So please owners, don’t change if you get really busy, stay just like this because this is by far the best Indian restaurant in Tamworth.

This is more of an up market Indian restaurant.the food was delicious and the chef very attentive and considering freshness and quality not expensive.very quiet night when we visited so go while you can as I am sure will become busy as the word spreads about a new place to eat.hope they can maintain standards, you have to try the onion Bargy never had one like it almost the size of a tennis ball. Role on pay day so we can visit once more

Genuinely a delight to visit. Ample seating and an excellent and diverse menu. We had mushroom bhaji, chicken tikka, saag bhaji and Tandoori prawns. It tasted fresh, piquant and delicious. The table staff were attentive and eager to please. The dishes were ample in size and reasonably priced. Interestingly, you are not confined to the restaurant to eat your meal, if you fancy eating outside in either the garden area or in front of the pub, you're more than welcome to do so. The restaurant has only been open three months, so get in now, before it gets well-known and fills up! At the moment it's a lovely place to eat fine food!

We (me, DH eldest daughter and tiddler daughter who is 2) thought we would give Saffron a try in Fazeley. It is situated within the Plough pub, which had previously been a Tapas bar but we had seen that it had changed to an Indian restaurant and thought we would give it a whirl. Turns out to have been the BEST move we made :)We arrived and were surprised to find that for a Friday night they were empty so had choice of tables. There was plenty of space with seating and some offered outside, which was nice given the most recent warm weather and the inside fully air conditioned so very comfortable. Service was very quick and polite offering poppadums and drinks while we waited which took very little time to arrive. We usually order what is called a Fusion from our usual curry house, which is rather than one curry, half and half of your choice from the menu. This wasn't actually an option but the chef was more than happy to make this up for us so that we could try a variety of food. We had between three of us - chicken tikka saagwala, chicken tikka bhuna, chicken tikka pathia, chicken makhani, chicken chocolate massala (yes chocolate and it was lovely), chicken tikka dopiaza with two vegetable rice and a plain boiled rice with plain naan. Tiddler had her usual chicken tikka starter, which went down well as usual. All of the chicken was moist and tender, full of flavour and the sauces to DIE for! There was a lot there to eat but so nice, nobody could face leaving anything on the plate. We paid and for all of that (two dishes had extra chicken), two pints of cider, four pints of Coors light and it came to £55 which was considerably cheaper than the usual place. Service was very friendly and swift and the chef was lovely. He came out to speak to us before food and we asked to thank him after our meal as we had enjoyed it so much - top bloke :) Highly recommend this place in fact we will be back there this weekend to try something else! Happy eating folks x

The best Indian meal I have had in a long time, the service isn’t rushed as the chef cooks everything fresh and you can definitely tell the difference. I had the chicken Pathia which was excellent and reminded me how curries used to taste in the 80’s & 90’s. Fas the chef is passionate about his food and will explain everything on the menu. Highly recommend!

Not been open long hence lack of reviews, however the food is really nice. It’s our 2nd visit in 2 weeks and we don’t normally eat curry. I must say they do the best onion bhaji’s ever. The staff are very friendly and service is great. Looking forward to visit number 3

The food was average. Chose from the chef’s recommendation and it was ok. Not as special as tasty as I was expecting. Service was fairly good however being interrupted to pick up unused cutlery and reaching across us was frustrating. Maybe I’m a traditionalist but you should reach over someone’s food whilst serving, especially without asking. The food was freshly cooked, Onion Bhaji’s and Poppadoms were very nice. Chicken Shashlik was on the dry side and not especially tasty. One meal came with Coriander even though it was requested without. The most frustrating part is the inclusion of a service charge, without letting us know beforehand. In my mind a service charge/tip should be given if deserved, not expected. I would estimate that it was 10% of our food bill. To be honest I won’t be returning.

Visited on Sunday 20th October for a meal with friends. We had also visited 2 weeks previously for a family 50th celebration. On both occasions we had the same waiter. Food was lovely the first visit and was brought out pretty much all together. On the second visit, starters were brought out at different times with long gaps, the first starters were finished before everyone had their food. Main courses were the same and one meal was missed completely it took chasing 3 or 4 times to actually get the meal. The attitude of the waiter was disinterested to say the least. However, the worst thing for me was the expectation of a tip on paying. On our first visit in front of family the waiter announced he had added 10% to the credit card for the tip, putting me in an embarrassing situation and a much increased bill. On Sundays visit with friends, we all agreed to split the bill and told the waiter the amount we were paying on our cards (the amount included an agreed tip in light of the poor service) Not only did he check the bill before we paid to see how much we were tipping but tried to increase the amount for each of us by £10 each for an increased tip. It really left a very bad feeling of the experience. I think we will think twice about returning.

What an amazing restaurant great service food and atmosphere. The waiter gave extra options on things. Like putting butter on the chilli naan to make it extra delicious. Mains were amazing and recommend the Delhi garlic chicken. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area
