Saffron Indian Diner in Bexley

I am from India and have tried various Indian restaurants in the London. But this restaurant is worst of them all. This is not an authentic Indian restaurant. The rating of this restaurant is good but then I realised that all reviews were written by non-Indians. I won't recommend this restaurant for authentic Indian food.

Didn't taste like Indian at all.

Worst food ever. Coloured food.

As the name suggests Indian, it is not an Indian cuisine, every dish was full of red gravy with no taste . Not to be suggested.

Please don’t go it’s not Indian restaurant. All curries had red colour.

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, quick service and great value.

Went for the ABBA night for a friends 60th birthday. Great food, service, entertainment and atmosphere. Would definitely go back again.

Very impressed with food quality, quantity and service. Starters were really good and mains really plentiful. They could not do more to make us welcome.

Had a wonderful dinner with my friend at Saffron Indian Cafe! I highly recommend trying the butter chicken with basmati rice! Chef Balkrishan was so kind and provided us with excellent service. Definitely will be back soon!

We regularly order from here but decided to go in person for Father's day. They had mentioned it but the place is cosy and it was therefore extremely busy. I think my other half didn't sit so comfortably but I think ordinarily this wouldn't be the case. The waiting staff was attentive but as mentioned very busy because they had quite a few large parties to attend to so a few things took just a little longer than I expected. To be fair they were also taking takeaway orders for both delivery and collection. They accommodated my daughter who did not eat from the set menu so appreciated that. What would have been helpful was if they had asked to take her order earlier. She didn't have starters but had to wait until the mains for her food which is a long time for a child I think. We had papodom and various dips. Then we had mixed saffron platter. It had samoas which were a hit with my son. He asked for extras . Onion bajhi.. I'm not an onion fan but I gave it a go, chicken tikka and lamb seekh. For mains we went with mixed grill and chicken/lamb shashlik. We had plain naan and pilau rice and sides of Bombay aloo ( potato and tomato), sag bhaji ( spinach), sag aloo (potato and spinach). All the food tasted lovely. It was more than we could finish so we happily did take away. The kids decided to try dessert. They both chose ice cream based ones. I wouldn't rate the two they ate highly as they were store bought. But there were more Indian sounding desserts on the menu that I can't comment on. Overall this was a great evening out. I would personally stick to takeaway on the weekend just because it is a small venue. I think it's reasonably priced for the portions you get It might be better on a weekday sitting wise. I would certainly recommend and will continue to eat from here as budget permits.

A group of 30 of us from a local retirement association descended on the restaurant for an evening banquet. The tables were all set out very presentably with cotton table linen and napkins, so a good first impression. One the banquet started and food was well cooked, despite having a multitude of choices it was also cooked quickly with no undue delay, dishes were plentiful, and service excellent. There were no negative comments from the group as to their enjoyment of the evening: vegetarians amongst us were positive with their choices. The only unfortunate aspect… some of the ladies with smaller appetites were somewhat full after the mixed starters and could have done with sharing a main dish & side/rice! The front of the restaurant can look a bit gaudy with its coloured lighting, but don’t let this put you off… if you get a meal and service like we did, you won’t regret it. Well worth a visit.

We had a takeaway and ordered tandoori king prawn - delicious but only 2 pieces could have done with an extra prawn. Lamb biryani was tasty but not enough lamb - why do restaurants cut the quantity?

Ordered jaipuri lamb , mashroom,keema naan and paratha. Everything was pretty good.but the lamb was like not worth it.found barely 6-7 pieces of shredded lamb in it.

As always the food is tasty, fresh and arrives hot. The nan bread is a little inconsistent lately as sometimes it’s full of coconut and other times it’s not but still gets eaten! Good delivery times, earlier than stated which is a massive bonus! Thank you

Delivered promptly. great food. Being a veggie you learn to expect raucous wind after a veggie. I wasn’t disappointed. My partner delivered a 21 gun salute that could be heard across Bexley village. They’re used to fireworks…. But not on this scale.

Average curry house. The food is poor, not very spicy adapted for english clientèle Service is okay, atmosphere is fine, plenty of parking.

Absolute 10/10, first time here and it was amazing! Fantastic value for money, I think it was the best curry I’ve ever eaten. We went on a Tuesday and got the Tuesday deal! An unbelievable amount of food for only £14.95! Would HIGHLY recommend

We love this place! The themed nights are brilliant - dancing and great fun! Food is so good we eat here 3 or 4 times a week 🤣🤣 Love the service too. Great guys!!

Absolutely love eating here, either take away or eat in, the owner is always happy and smiling and very welcoming . They have themed nights here every now and then. We've been to the ABBA night and it was brilliant. Food is amazing, we've tried a few locally but it just isn't as nice. Good price as well for the portions. Recommended to friends and neighbours.

Tuesday night special busy but so efficient and friendly. Food was fantastic and doggy bags for left overs and complimentary liquor. Couldn’t fault it 👍

Inedible !! I have had many takeaways and deliveries from this restaurant. This evening 22/4/23 has to be the worst I have ever had… inedible!! Bad news from the beginning.. ordered on fone … had to repeat the order .. asked to speak to the manager… many times… cut off… re called … sounds like chaos in the background… The food eventually arrived after 1 hour & 15 mins . Worst curry I have ever had!! Inedible! I used to have such a good rapport with the manager… I assume there are new staff… Wow… they have a lot of catching up to do… I threw most of the meal in the bin!! Avoid at all costs ..

Always delicious food, delivered hot! Friendly and always full of smiles! We have had people with us that were vegan and also nut allergies and all were catered for, no problem!

Amazing tentative service. Amazing prices and even offered complementary Baileys, chocolate and warm hand towels at the end of the meal! Would recommend the garlic and tandoori prawn starters and the korma. Will definitely be visiting again - what a local gem!

We are lucky to have numerous good Indian restuarants in Blackfen/Sidcup so I hadn't used Saffron for many years, back when it was called Bay of Bengal. I gave them a try again about three weeks ago and I have to say the food was excellent. I have now used Saffron on another two occasions and the food has been consistently very good. The deal they do on Tuesdays is very good value for money, so much food for such a small price. This place is up there with the best Indian restaurants we've used and will probably be our number one choice whenever we fancy an Indian in future. Keep up the good work guys

This Indian was amazing , defo worth the money for what you get and defo will be going back to try something different Something ain’t on the menu that are in other Indian restaurant but most of it is Garlic chilli chicken I had was absolutely delicious and can’t wait to have it again staff are amazing and will have entertainment coming up soon so go have a look

Great food, nice restaurant, polite staff..

Extremely good service , nothing is too much trouble. Excellent value today ( Sundays ) with adult set menu ( £10.95 ) choice of starters , main , sides and accompliments. Portions so big had to ask for a dogie bag to take home 😂 and no problem doing so. Drink not included however but still not outlandishly expensive. Will be going again on one of their entertainment nights.

Awful food! Ordered based on reviews and it turned up within 20 minutes despite us living 10 minutes from them (which also makes me doubt it actually being cooked properly) we had the lamb masala and the lamb was literally slices of tough meat (some inedible) that almost seemed to be from a packet. We have ordered this numerous times from different curry houses and its always been in cubes and always been moist and succulent! I believe the reviews are fake as the lamb was so tough and also lacking in quantity (despite the price) I now highly doubt the validity of previous reviews. Please save your money and go elsewhere!

Food was average. Butter chicken and naan was sweet. Was charged for papadom and sauce £1.40 each. Never an indian restaurant charge for papadoms. There was not social distancing and staff was not wearing PPEs. Not very impressed.

This restaurant is the best curry house in our area, we had a lovely meal last night and there was plenty of it so you won't leave hunger, the staff and service were great so friendly and helpful, we will certainly be back and recommend all you curry lovers to go. They also do theme nights so worth checking this out. Can't wait for our next return visit here.loved it.

Having read the reviews we decided to try this but disappointed as food not brilliant. We found the billing system dubious as bar bill not broken down just one figure. Quite pricey considering what we ordered. Wud have preferred everything shown clearly on bill.

We have ordered from this restaurant a few times, and decided to come in person. The food was so fresh and had lots of flavour, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They gave us extra poppadoms and we had a great time! We love ordering takeaways from here, but we will be coming in person more often for family meals out from now on!
