Saffron in Dover

Waste of money, literally binned the lot. The chicken korma was like water and the lamb dhansak was drowning in oil, even the peshwari Nan and rice was weird. Basically paid £30 for some popadoms and a can of coke

Oh dear, I really wanted a curry but the Saffron was the only local takeaway Indian that was open, I'd had a bad experience the last time I had one from here but I thought it might have improved. My bro had a chicken tikka masala and to be fair he enjoyed it, I ordered a chicken Jalfrezi, it was watery not saucy and wasn't very tasty at all, I also ordered bombay potatoes, the spuds were undercooked and hard, crunchy in fact!! Yuck! The lime chutney was missing and the poppadoms were in bits, so that's it, vowed to never again have a curry from here. If the Star of india is closed I'd rather have a Chinese in fact any takeaway. Avoid if you like curry.

Far-and-away the best takeaway curry in both Deal and Walmer. Typically huge menu selection, but I'd say more of a concrete focus on traditional Indian cuisine than some other places that surround it. And, in spite of just how much is on offer, the level of consistency is unrivalled on every front. Beautifully tender chicken every time, great flavoured sauces that never get indistinguishable from one another - even delivery usually comes at least 20 minutes earlier than is expected, including at peak times like Saturday night. Portions are all generous, but come out perfect for a hungry individual with no skimping on the primary proteins. The sides are great too, with nice big, chewy naans, great poppadoms and onion bhajis coming in abundance (even if I don't get them for myself). Spice is also certainly not skimped on - probably the only point of critique I have is you really have to memorise the levels by just trying stuff, as I've had 'medium-hot' with minimal levels, against 'hot' that (regrettably for my manhood) I've had to supplument with yoghurt, which I didn't even have to do with their naga pickle curry that you would assume the hottest. As I said, though, it varies through the menu, and even dishes that are too hot make up for it with sheer flavour. Couple this all with good prices (that become even better when ordering for groups) often supplumented with discount codes and free delivery over £20 (at least on Deliveroo, where I last ordered from), and I see no reason to order from any other Indian takeaway around here. If I were to make any recommendations, the chicken tikka zameer is definitely my favourite main, and the pistachio kulfi is excellent, and not to be ignored sitting at the back of the menu.

Food was delivered on time, hot and tasted fabulous. Best Indian food I have had in a long time. I would definitely recommend.

Ordered a takeaway at 5pm, arrived 45 minutes later ( not an issue). The food was lukewarm and absolutely swimming in oil. Really disappointed due to the temperature ie lukewarm rice! and all other dishes lukewarm and almost inedible due to the huge puddle of oil on top of everything. Threw away 3/4 of the food. Such a shame as we’ve ordered before several times and never had a problem.

Naz and his team are incredible. Super professional, communicative and the food is delicious. We organised a curry for our 25th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Kingsdown International Camping...we preordered for 35 people and Naz coordinated it perfectly. Louise, our delivery driver made sure the food was hot. Everyone commented on how delicious the food was. This made our evening extra special. Highly recommended..

Well, can't complain at the atmosphere score as it's a takeaway only, but very happy with the rest. We had Bombay Vegetable curry, pilau rice and garlic naan bread which were all very nice indeed.

Not the greatest experience we have had. Ordered meals from them, and to be fair they did arrive in a relatively good time. The issues started when opening up the meals to find one of them the chicken is all on the bone, couple of small legs and small thighs, it didn't state the meat was in the bone in the menu, after much messing about, we managed to de-bone the chicken and finally sat down to eat. A couple of forkfuls in, I pulled out a piece of metal from they meal. Once this was found I called them to complain, they apologized to me and said my next meal would be free, I asked for a refund but they kept saying next meal free, I asked 3 times for a refund and didn't get anywhere. They didn't even offer to replace the meal, I would of gladly given them back the bad one. I doubt very much we will go back to them after this. So we are out of pocket on this one. Lesson learnt

Rapid service and great tasting food. Easy to phone up and place an order, and the time-estimate for when it will be ready is usually accurate. We've had food from here at least 5 times and it's always delicious.

It was ok , but The Balti wasn’tgreat as it didn’t taste very balti it tasted like it was mixed up With another dish , wast horrible just wasn’t balti

Absolutely amazing food, shame about the delivery lady who was very moody and rude even after a tip! After an explosion of tikka massalla with the first order. I spoke to the owner and he was very friendly and helpful. Sent out a fresh curry and rice to replace the one that had made the mess and been ruined. All food was fresh, tasty and hot! Will definitely return if in the area. 10/10!!

Having had a few locals say this was a really good takeaway, I thought I'd check it out. Many of my friends are from South Asia and have their own Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani restaurants and takeaways, so I know great South Asian flavours. Sadly the service was very poor as I was ignored for about 3 minutes whilst the blonde haired girl behind the counter was more entertained by scrolling the world inside her phone. Once I had her attention, and had to ask if the meat was halal, she didn't even know what that meant and had to go and ask. The South Asian chap who worked there was also rude, especially when I asked if the meat was halal and why none of the dietary regulations were on the menu next to eaxh dish. His answer "We dont need to put halal because this isn't a Muslim area". When I asked him how he knew who was Muslim or not, and how he knew if i was Muslim or not as a white English person he looked confused, obviously not realising anyone from any ethnicity can be a Muslim. The young lad was the most helpful and polite of all three people there and is a credit to himself and his parents. The food itself was tasteless, greasy and lacked seasoning, and very watery. The spices had also been burnt in the process of cooking. To receive the food in 20 minutes was far too quick and shows the foodnis not freshly cooked. One would expect to wait at least 40 minutes for a good South Asian takeaway. Maybe this is how the locals like their curries, but if you want authentic, good curry I would advise you stay away from this takeaway. Very overpriced for the lacklustre poor quality food received.

Appalling I thought I give them another go after last bad curry as they used to be excellent, as you can see from photos hair in my food and large amount water in curry cold rice, I used a delivery platform to order and got say this will be last time I order from there the lot went in the bin

Just had a Naga chicken curry which was very nice, A lot of places get it wrong but these guys have done a good job. The Naga is good and the chicken was very tender and tasty And very well marinated.

Lovely food delivered We had a delivery from here tonight, we usually use star of India but the last 2/3 from there were not as nice as usual so thought we would try saffron. We will definitely be ordering again, was so tasty, nice kick to my curry too. Thank you saffron

First time we have used this Indian takeaway, decided it was closer than the town ones and getting a bit fed up with them. Tonight’s takeaway was lovely, the flavour of the Brinjol Bhajee was excellent as was the Saffron special rice, we had a chicken tikka curry, it was nice but will go a bit more spicy next time. My husband and I always share a curry these days with a starter and side dish and that is plenty for us. Will definitely be going back.

For years this was THE Indian Take-away but since it has changed hands it's gone down hill. Food just not as fresh or tasty and with recent price increases its certainly not number 1 anymore.

We have always ordered from Saffron in the past but this is the first time in a year and never again. The poppadoms were lovely but that was it. The biryani lacked flavour and depth and the chicken kashmir was so bland, indeed I didn’t even know it was possible to find a banana which didn’t even taste of one! Disappointing.

Best in deal by a country mile.

We walked in my partner knew what he wanted, but I didn't. I asked the lovely man behind the counter to help me pick a meal, after describing what I was after he suggested chicken bhuna which I went for. We paid by card and waited about 20 mins on the comfy sofa. Got the food home and it was all fresh and smelled amazing. The chicken korma was very good, and the poppadoms too. My bhuna was full of flavour and my garlic naan absolutely delicious. Saffron will be our go-to for Indian take away from now on. Highly recommend.

Just had a takeaway and it was inedible . All tasted the same , food not freshly cooked , salty and unpleasant .

Geat food Fast collection spot on the time

Our first takeaway from the Saffron. In simple words a great experience. The food was ready for collection at the time specified, I walked in and the food came out. The food was wonderful, the description given in the menu reflects what you get. The meat was a fine cut with little fat and no sinew, you could taste each element of the dish with spices well balanced. The vegetables were not over cooked and spiced just sufficiently to allow you to identify what the vegetable when eating. I shall be using this as our takeaway in the future

Food was nice, a bit pricey and they got our order wrong. One of our orders, were 4 peshwari naans they gave us plain naan, charged us for the more expensive one. I emailed them, they didn't reply. For an £80 order, I think this will be our last one from this restaurant

I never write these things but this has got to be the worst curry I’ve ever had and the worst delivery experience as well! I ordered my food at 18:13 using the online system; this was good. Although it doesn’t tell you an expected delivery time. This said, Saturday night ... I’ll leave it an hour before I start worrying where it is. I’ll 7:15 I make the phone call (23 times later - no answer), now 7:45, I decide to get in the car and head down there. Guess what the food turns up, no apology from the driver for its delay. Ok, not all bad. The food arrived hot, almost in their containers. Anyway, I dish the food up for my kids who are now starving. The seem happy. Finally sit down to eat my Jalfrezi. Mmm ... Jalfrezi. What the heck was that. Now I don’t mean to be rude, either the chef in this place needs to go back to chef school or some poor sole in Deal is eating my Jalfrezi instead of the tomato based lime soup with chicken in it. Thank good the kids Korma wasn’t bad and I hate Korma usually. I honestly think I could’ve done a better job myself. It would’ve taken me an hour and half but would’ve tasted great. This was poor customer service and awful product. All I can say is thank god for the poppadoms! Won’t be returning here and will be telling my friends and family to avoid!

Honestly one of the best Indians I’ve ever had- ever! Really fresh, high quality food and lovely lovely staff to boot. You can tell it’s all cooked fresh as takes a bit of time and isn’t just straight out. Lots of choice- we ordered a lot for four people and all of it was great. They should open a restaurant as there’s no other competition in Deal in my eyes, and so there’s a gap that needs filling! :-)

Spending the night in Dover, on route to stoke on Trent, after a 2 week holiday in France, we where desperate to get a good old fashioned English curry!..... WOW.... perfect.... old school curry... I'm absolutely a man of a good curry... there is no way anybody can fault this curry house it was 100% brilliant... It will probably be 6 months untill I'll be back in Dover but when I do I'll be back..... We had Onion bhaji Chicken tikka Salad, mint sauce Lamb methi (very soft) Chicken vindaloo Garlic nan... Perfect Thanks

Excellent meal on 16th July. The vindaloo was stunning, flakey chicken and al dente potatoes. The lemon rice had fresh lemon bits that excited the taste buds. Lovely garlic and coriander naan bread with a strong garlic flavour. I would highly recommend.

Our go to for Indian takeaways. Abs is always polite and happy to cater for any dietary needs or just to recommend a new dish. In our opinion it's the best Indian food in the area.

Oh dear, no website so no menu , we ordered vegetable main dish which normally come with rice , but no rice turned up. My partner spent a long time on loo after meal and still feels raw the next morning. And they charge extra to deliver , all in all an interesting experience that I would not recommend.
