Sable D'or in Haringey

Visited this wonderful venue for breakfast. The food was superb, especially the mushrooms, they were marinated perfectly! This place is a must if in Muswell Hill.

This happened on Monday 7/10/24. Visited Sable D’or with my son at around 5pm.Had a coffee,pain au chocolat and almond chocolate pastry. We had a nice conversation and left,only to be chased and accused of leaving without paying. At first I thought I forgot to pay,as the lady(dark blond long haired European) looked upset. Went back to the cafe and remembered I had paid. The lady was still unsure despite she was the one who took my payment. Accepted her apology and left. I could feel I was getting upset gradually. I felt like our good cafe time was ruined by this event.I was trying to recover from another upsetting event that happened the day before. This certainly didn’t help. Maybe it’s the way I look,that made her feel suspicious of me. However this is one of the worst things you could do to a paying customer. Please teach your staff members to first think twice and doubt themselves. I probably won’t be coming back to avoid upsetting events like this,especially in front of my child.

Sable d’or is an extraordinary experience and with food which is over the expected standard . The head chef Yacine is a great worker, makes amazing food . The service is very welcoming and a perfect place for an afternoon tea , birthdays and more . Recommend a lot . Thanks for all the team of sable d’or especially Yacine ( the head chef ). A delightful place to have a nice pastry or snack 😋

Nice enough place. Had a very nice Cortardo and exceptional almond and chocolate croissant.

Very disappointing, hot chocolate was luke warm after asking for extra hot and it tasted off. There were a lot of very small flies around the cakes in the window, we did have 2 cakes and the flies seemed to follow us to our table. I did not want to create a fuss at the time as I was treating my Aunt to coffee and cake. I could not find a contact email address to make a complaint. I am hoping that the Manager responds to this review by giving me a point of contact and recompensing me in some way. I would not recommend to anyone

A group of us met for brunch at this cafe after reading the reviews, and we were so pleased with our food and drink, the service and the atmosphere. I enjoyed the juice with apple, carrot, ginger and celery (‘stress buster’) and having tried a plate of four of the six salads on display and the chocolate tart, I will definitely return. The salads were of good portions and tasted so fresh. The juice was excellent! Thank you to the staff for their warm, quick service and their patience as I asked a lot of questions when selecting my salads and dessert!

Back here again and of course it did not disappoint. We tried the greek style tomato and feta salad this time which was so fresh and would definitely recommend. We also had the carrot and walnut cake topped with cream cheese which was the best I have ever tasted. As always the staff are so polite and friendly and all together a great way to start off your day. Thank you to Chef Yacine and all the staff !

Delicious place for brunch - would highlight the following: - French toast - Shakshuka - The salads (especially the tomato/feta one) Nice coffee too. Highly recommended!

We ordered 2 coffees and waited at least 15 minutes. The coffee was tepid so we asked for it to be heated (I saw another table doing the same). The staff were not particularly concerned and the coffee they returned was very much the same temperature as before. I have always been very happy with both the service and food in the past so hope there was an explanation for the poor experience that day.

I just want to share my experience but also get people to understand. The first time I pop into this lovely Sable D'Or on a Monday morning they were so help so much and understand when i explained that I had an Austic son who has sensory issues and taste issue my son had. I can't remember the man name or the lady's name but they both made the effort and went out of their way into the kitchen to make the food items and hot drink that my son could eat. And I left with a smile on my face. And my Austic son was so happy 😊. So I want to thank them both. And if i see you next time i will thank you in person . And thank you so much for your understanding and help. My second visit was not as comfortable as I my first visit. On a Monday morning. Their was another man and lady on duty who find it difficult to understand about my Austic son issues. So I just end up leaving with only 2 cold drinks. And nothing else. My Austic son was very upset and he couldn't understand why the man and lady could not help. I just need to get people to understand and were they are going wrong.

Food was exeptional really tasty and generous portions. We had a late breakfast thoroughly enjoyed every morsel.

I had a plate of salad It was £14 for a selection of three from the counter and they looked yummy. Disappointingly they were a complete let down, pretty flavourless, badly dressed and totally overpriced. The portions were ridiculously small, lucky if I got 6 string beans in one of the portions . I really would not recommend this place and won't be back

Lovely breakfast. Poached eggs, done to perfection, crispy, crunchy sourdough toast, avocado beautifully seasoned and spinach was also full of flavour. A real delight . They serve until 3pm too., which love. Will return again soon

Really recommend Sble D’Or. Quality food clearly cooked by a highly experienced chef. The cakes are on a different level too! 😁

Lovely staff ! The coffee and cakes are delicious too. Love this Place.

My husband and I decided to pop in and have tea and cake. Aside from being overpriced, the service was very poor. The staff there seem to be oblivious to customers. We sat down and waited ages for our tea to be bought to our table, and it was only when my husband made a complaint that the manager overheard this and went and got our tray for us. This was the first and last time that we will be going there.

This is a lovely place when you feel like to have a fresh pastry and muffins though bit overprices for what you are getting.

The quality of the food was excellent but the service was abysmal, even though it wasn't busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff. We ordered five drinks and initially received two drinks that we hadn't ordered (in takeaway cups, despite the fact that we were eating in), while three of the drinks we did order sat on the counter for ages. They continued to ait there while we waited for the other drinks that we had actually ordered to be prepared. The pancakes we ordered didn't arrive at all. We asked the waitress to check where they were and she said they were on their way. When they didn't arrive after about 15 minutes we asked the manager who the then went into the open kitchen, apparently to make them himself. They were delicious when they arrived, as we're the pastries (which was the only part of the order that was served as requested). I was hesitant about submitting a negative review of an independent local business as I know it must be challenging to operate in the current environment, but the poor service has put us of returning and I hope the manager is able to act on this feedback and make sure that the quality of the service matches the quality of the food and drinks.

I’ve stopped going. The staff are lovely but so slow and get things so wrong that it’s just not worth it. And they let dogs run riot, block gangways etc and don’t say a thing. Great food, but the service sadly makes it not worth visiting any more. They will lose customers to other cafes if they don’t tighten things up a bit.

This place is absolutely amazing!! We always come back whenever in town. Been coming for years. The food is second to none. Salads, pastries, cakes, quiches all delicious can’t fault at all. Chef Yacine was very informative, polite and also told us all the food was halal. ‎الحمد الله

One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time! Great flavours and substantial portions. The atmosphere is very homely and the service is great. I would highly recommend coming here!

I highly recommend the French Toast. It was divine!

Bad service! Today is raining and it seems that the mood of the waitress was affected by it. She got my order wrong and tried to defend her mistake blaming me for it. She could have just said sorry but she decided not to do it so her co-worker said sorry instead. Food.. Average.. considering we didn't get the "English breakfast" we ordered because the waitress thought t it was an English breakfast tea.

Food at Sable d’Or is always excellent - freshly (and quickly!) prepared. My son says that the chef Yassin should get a Michelin star.

Love the carrot cake and lemon muffin cake. Good for Sunday breakfast, decent portions and tasty food. Remember to order at the counter and choose a table.

A very lovely cafe- all of the food was extremely high quality and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even gave us some free pastries to take home as we were visiting at the end of the day!

I visited Sable D'Or in Muswell Hill for a quick snack and I was pleasantly surprised by their muffin. It was moist and fluffy, with a crunchy top and a rich chocolate flavour. It was not too sweet or dry, and it went well with a cup of coffee. The muffin was quite big and filling, and it was reasonably priced. The staff were polite and efficient, and the place was clean and cozy. I would definitely go back to try their other pastries and cakes. Sable D'Or is a great place to enjoy a delicious muffin in Muswell Hill.

Probably one of the worst breakfasts we’ve had in a long time! Bad reception, no condiments, or knife’s and forks on table. Severed by young man with very bad body odor. That on it’s own put me off my breakfast! Egg shell in the poached eggs. Breakfast over all, not very nice, left most of it. When we left no acknowledgment even though all standing around, no customers! Luckily you pay up front, before receiving your meal, as I would have been well within my rights to dispute our payment. Staff need training. Ps: thankfully there are new and a lot more places to go in Muswell Hill! Such a shame.Because they were not that busy.

I have had meetings and dine ins here a few times. The spread always looks tempting. The most recent dine in, the gentleman last week was genuinely friendly and very helpful. I chanced a chai latte which isn't on the menu board and he made it perfectly. It was a great start to the day.

Can't cope with customers that are intolerant or allergic to ingredients! I felt distinctly unwelcome when I asked them about my garlic intolerance. Ended up having a coffee only and leaving. Poor show Stable D'Or. We will not be coming back

My son took us to this restaurant because it was a short drive from the house. It also is an informal place where you pick you want and then they bring it to your table. This is not a fancy place. But a place to get a reasonable meal fairly quickly. I ordered an eggplant with pomegranate seeds. The others had salads and my grandson loved his chocolate filled croissant. The coffee was also good. The service was just a bit slow, but it was lunchtime and they were busy.

This place is substandard and it is very expensive. The heating was not on and we were told it was broken at a time the temperature is below zero. A very small salad with some pastry was £12.50. not only was extremely expensive it was not of good quality ingredients. I ask the waiter to clean my table which was left dirty from previous customers, and he ignored me. poor customer service. Be advised that tea is over £3. With so many good places in muswell hill, I recommend to skip this place.

Rude service from the female barista. She rolled her eyes at me when her colleague is the one who messed up my coffee order. Unwelcoming experience so I will not be returning.

Hi, bough two croissants and two pain chocolate i sure they are frozen or from day before .very disappointing.

Disappointing brunch, burnt (not warmed up) bacon brioche which seems to me the bun was 4 day old bun disgusting ; turmeric cauliflower salad salty; pricey for the poor quality of food and service

Extremely good food and pastry we came everyday and enjoyed the pretty interior and the good food, freshly pressed juices and coffee If your in this Neighbourhood, go! You won’t be disappointed 😊

the chicken bun was absolutely disgusting. literally had one bite and was enough. chewy chicken and strange smell. the cheese was dry and the salad looked like it died 2 days ago. 30 degrees outside and food not even covered or kept at lower temperature. the place was almost empty with tables not even cleaned from previous customers but the guy was chilling playing on his phone

£15 for a salad which doesn’t even cover the plate. Used to come a lot but it’s just got ridiculous and the service and atmosphere has really gone downhill. Won’t be coming back - it’s just a rip off now.

Visited today for lunch. My halloumi brioche roll barely had any halloumi in it, just one tiny piece. The roll was burnt and lacked flavour. A tiny handful of leaves were on the side so it was expensive at £7. I wouldn't revisit as there are other nearby cafes that are much more generous. We are not tourists!

Super tasty coffee and food but I wonder whether the halloumi roll I had was missing a halloumi? The other half of my roll had none. The kids loved their smoothy.

We ordered two feta spinach quiche, two sides (butternut squash and one with chickpeas), coffee and hot choclate. The display of the food was quite messy and did not really look very hygienic. I went to the one in Crouch End before and that one looked better. It was quite fully, the quiche were very tasty, the sides burnt and bitter. The coffee was not good as well. The hot choc was nothing special. The staff did not see us even though we raised our hands many times. The place is OK, but overpriced for the quality of food and service of staff, wont go there again.

Since this place reopened it has become one of the best coffee shops in Muswell Hill, if not THE best.

I love this place, they are friendly and the pastries are so good! The appricot crumble is a piece of heaven, and the cheesecake it's another amazing dessert.

They have a great selection of vegan salads as well as great coffee. All staff members are super friendly and helpful.

Do NOT visit in the last hour before closure... the staff will start aggressively sweeping the floor and mopping around you with what smells like undiluted bleach! The first time this happened I had to leave before finishing my tea as the smell was making me retch; the second time I asked then to pause the bleaching at least... but the sweeping/knocking chairs around (including the one I was sitting on!) continued. I understand it's a long day and a hard job, so starting the cleanup early may allow them to go home earlier than usual. However if the café is open until 6pm then customers should be able to enjoy the same bleach-free experience until then.

Lots of options for savoury and sweets. Good quality products. I tried the carrotcake and it is delicious.

Very nice place for coffee and breackfast

In reply to the owner, I was there recently with my friend. The waitress was rude to us. She pushed my chair and also took our plates without asking. It was a bad experience.

When you pay £15 for 2 drinks and 2 cakes you expect the service to go with it. Our drinks were given in error to other customers who came in after us. They complained there was a drink missing so ended up getting theirs replaced while we waited even longer. Barely an apology to us when our drinks finally arrived. First world problems I know but when there is a choice of eateries I'm not sure why you'd bother with Sable d'or. I've had poor service here in the past but keep giving it another chance. Last time this time.

Pretty poor to be honest. The baked goods were nice, but that’s where it ended. The staff were pretty rude, I was asked for my order which I started to give when someone the server knew came in so he just ignored me and took their order instead. When I did eventually get served, another customer asked politely what the soup of the day was while I was paying. The staff member dismissed her and said he couldn’t speak to her because he was severing me. The other customer also found the whole situation pretty odd; it was a perfectly reasonable question. My quiche arrived with an undressed pile of limp lettuce. Coffee wasn’t anything special. Wouldn’t bother again, better options around.

It was nice, but a takeaway box of aubergine & pepper salad cost £12.50. Thought I misheard the price - it seems so expensive.

Very nice food and a good service

My mocha to go this weekend was from this place!!! The food looked delicious and they had some fresh made goods too! Everytime I have crossed this little cafe, I was like Wow yummy display!!! The food is a little over priced but the coffee is decent. I paid £2.90 for a regular sized Mocha. The taste was yummy and the staff is also sweet and smiles when you walk in. I often think, just a simple hello n smile can also cheer a stranger up and that’s the beauty of humans n expressions🥰

I work in the local area and have often walked by and been impressed by the window display. Today I ordered a take-away lunch portion of mixed salads. I was completely and utterly blown away when they charged me £15 for what was essentially a box of cooked, seasoned vegetables. A large piece of broccoli with a hard stem made up the bulk of the dish. I did enjoy the salad but it was hugely overpriced and I will not be returning again unfortunately.

The pastries here are always very tasty, excellent coffee. Also great place to by your bread which is far better than the supermarket.

The coffee and cakes here are wonderful and totally worth coming for. Unfortunately the service really lets the place down. The two staff members almost completely ignored us the whole time despite only 2 other tables in the place. And there were dirty dishes all over the other tables for the entire duration of our visit.

Great for coffee and salad. You can taste the quality. Only downside is that they've only c.4 vegan salads and nothing else vegan on the menu. They do the salad by weight if getting takeaway and, suffice it to say, it is NOT cheap! None of the pastries or sandwich type things are vegan either which is sad. Hope they see the sense behind expanding their vegan offerings!
