Went to get lunch there today and it was laptop city! Several people on their laptops and no space for someone just wanting to eat or a coffee. One person was spread out with her laptop, coat and chargers over 3 chairs. Needs to be managed better with some rules in place. I have never seen anything like it in any other neighbourhood cafes.

This is a super atmospheric cafe, it's very much a study-in-a-coffee-shop kind of vibe! It's got a really nice view from the window where you can see everything going on outside. It's often busy since it's located close to a couple of schools, but it's a great place to go to on the weekends, in my experience. The food is great, but super expensive! I don't go regularly, but sometimes will get a nice cinnamon bun which I highly recommend ;)

We came in a few weeks ago, and a lady snatched my boyfriends phone off the table, luckily he was able to run after her and get it back. Went we went up to the girls that worked there to let them know what happend and warn them to maybe keep an eye out for the lady, they apologized to the people in the queue for the "drama". Not even to us, which I thought was a weird reaction. Didn't even ask us if everything was ok.

Sadly, I will not be ordering from this branch of Gail's through Deliveroo ever again - missing items, incorrect items, so many times that Deliveroo have refused to refund me the missing item this time. Don't bother to order your Gail's through Deliveroo or other apps, they'll just get your order wrong and then you'll lose out.

We were a large party, 15 people, celebrating a birthday. The service was excellent as was the food. Our server a young Asian man, sorry did not get his name, was outstanding and a real credit to the restaurant. They were efficient, and thoughtful.

The staff here hate their job. Imagine sighing because a paying customer walks into the shop and then the classic excuses to not prepare anything without checking. No apology, no care. Just performance manage these people because there is no way the attitude is in line with the brand image you are portraying. If you have mystery shoppers I can only imagine how poor this branch must do all year round.

I advise anyone with food allergies/intolerances to steer clear of Gails. Their staff are not trained in this issue and nor is the food clearly labelled. They seem to be oblivious to the risk this poses to some customers. Today I asked the server which savoury foods in the counter were vegan. He said the avocado roll and the quiche. I bought the quiche as a take away but after a few bites it became clear that there were eggs and cheese in it. I feel unwell now. For me this is not life-threatening; for others it may be. How hard is it to train your staff adequately?

Can you see the plastic that’s not being cut properly from the matrix machine??? Well from all the coffee shops I’ve been in London / Gail’s Bakery is the only one that presents the cheapest plastic lids ever with a danger of their client potentially swallow a plastic bits while they drink coffee that’s known to be of the top brands in London. Well next time I will personally approach the management and will blow this problem until it’s resolved!!!! You can’t sell food and coffee at quite expensive prices and trying to save money from a coffee lid potentially putting people’s life in danger!!! Take some action and sort it out immediately!!!

Very disappointing. I had not been to Cote for a couple of years and I won't ever be going again. I ordered crudités as a snack to start with and was presented with a sliver of carrot and a bit of chicory. Hopelessly limp and unimaginative. The salad nicoise, which had been large and appetising was reduced to a lukewarm piece of sad tuna, a few piece of lettuce and a single soft boiled cold egg. Grim, overpriced and ultimately disgraceful. A waste of money and utterly miserable experience.

Have been to Cote restaurants many times in several of its branches. Up till this visit it has never let me down. My visit to the Highgate branch was appalling. The standard has falling like a star crashing on the horizon. What used to be hearty dish of half a Breton chicken with chips and salad was a miserable dish of barely cooked small chicken breast supplemented with a few miserable bits of salad plus a few small pieces of past their date potatoes that were inedible. The embarrassed manager explained there had been a change of menu. I don't know whether this Kamikaze strategy was aimed at encouraging drinkers who don't care what they eat, but those of us who visited for the food have been lost.

Cote seems to have gone backwards under current ownership and after Covid. Nothing wows you, but nothing is bad. Portion size is just about ok. Wine prices are greatly marked up and ok but not wow. The 10% service charge goes all to staff. The staff here were nice but if you have the standard Cote fare to offer you cannot really shine. I put this down to Partners Group take over in 2020. Private Equity and Restaurants are not good bed fellows.

Our table was in the corner of the restaurant with no other tables taken. Unfortunately a party of women came in and were placed immediately next to us in a completely empty restaurant making personal conversation impossible. Breakfast came, not piping hot. My husband's full Côte breakfast had shrunk in size since we came a couple of years ago which was a disappointment. My scrambled egg was good on top of smoked salmon, but the salmon did not taste like salmon and was very salty. Not sure if I would go back for a meal.

I feel like Anton Ego from Ratatouille here, but our dinner this evening felt like it was sucking out my soul and I am left unhappy and sad. I used to be a massive fan of the chain, essentially a pimped up, more modern, Cafe Rouge. But for whatever reason it seemed more akin to eating in the worst French bistro tourist trap I have ever come across tonight. Service was fine, on the whole, and nothing to complain about in a chain restaurant. The ambience was awful - certainly not the kind of vibe you are looking for in a midweek lunch spot - so forget it for a nice meal on a Saturday night, when we were there. The menu was bland with nothing interesting. Crab salad - we suspect tinned crab, insipid. Chicken liver parfait - was ok, but so is the same thing from any supermarket. Cheese soufflé - and here I quote “horrid, horrid, horrid”. Just bland in my view. Ribeye steak - ordered rare, served medium-rare. Which is fine. But very anemic on the outside with no sear, just bland and tasteless. Accompanied by frites and green salad. In fairness the frites were very good, crisp and salty. Green salad was a handful of limp, undressed rocket. C’mom guys, you can do better than this - I really don’t want to see you disappear like a lot of your peers.

Good coffe, nice space. They are not great at cleaning after their guests. So most of the time Im there the tables are dirty and cups/plates still left on table. A couple of the peeps working there are also not so friendly which is provoking. Then again a couple of really lovely staff as well.

Despite the food being great we were kicked out over the silly rule after we were served and sat down. About to start eating. Because we had a dog and dogs are only allowed to take away which is written and tiny print after a statement that says all dogs are welcome, this is really poorly managed. Also to highlight a lady on the same bench was sad with a similar size dog which was definitely not an assistance dog and no one spoke to her despite not being served any food or drink yet. Awful management on 17/2/24 just before midday.

I only went in to order toast to take away. Spent 15minutes waiting! The 1st toast arrived but they left it on the back counter without telling me so it got cold. The 2nd (hot) toast arrived in a box…over packaging… with the butter and jam in little punnets…over packaging… and without a knife to apply so I had to go back in. Next time just butter the toast, apply the jam and put in a paper bag. Gails is definitely style over substance!

Today I was minding my own business in the queue. When another member of the public (ahead of me ) physically assaulted me and your staff didn't do anything ( except one kind member offered me water). The man stood on top of me quite literally. At this point your staff were still continuing to serve him. I got so stunned, all they did was stare. He then swore at me, Stretched his 2 arms out and physically shoved me back towards the tables. All because I was in his way, he didn't want to step out of the way and preferred to trample on an innocent woman half his size. When I told him tjua hurt and to back off and not touch me, he continued to rant and rave. When realziknf he was being stared at, he quickly ran out rhe door. I then say down shaken. You would think a member of staff might like to come and offer to make a report of provide cctv or do something else helpful. ?? Please train your staff to learn how to deal with incidents. It's really not ok. I was left shaken and crying on a seat for several minutes after

I invited 50 friends for a special celebration brunch. The food was delicious, the staff were gracious and helpful considering the numbers they had to serve at the same time. The seating was very well organised, convenient and secluded for a party of 50 women! Thank you. Much enjoyed by everybody.

This is our local and it suits us perfectly. The staff are friendly and accommodating making sure that we sit at a table that is suitable to our rather noisy kid's needs. The food is consistently good and the acoustics are extraordinary. All these elements are included in the good early evening food deals that suit parents with young children perfectly. Highly recommended!

Service was awful, ordered drinks which didn’t arrive until we chased after our food arrived. The table next to us ordered after us and their drink arrived before ours. Food ordered without sauce as I am unable to eat citrus. Plates arrived with sauce so sent back. Replacement delivered - dish was supposed to be sea bream with new potatoes, samphire and courgettes. Plate had no more than 2 new potatoes chopped up, about an inch of courgette also chopped up and no samphire - hardly an acceptable portion of food - even for the fixed menu - which wasn’t offered we had to locate the menus ourselves. Dish returned, a while later I was offered anything from the menu free if charge but no one came back to take my order by then my husband had finished his meal so we just paid and left. Needless to say we won’t be back this is not the first issue we have had at this Cote. Lack of knowledgeable staff, service terrible and serving tiny portions because you order from the fixed menu. Lots of upselling - trying to push starters / sides etc. Maybe they should concentrate on getting the basics right, drinks delivered promptly and an acceptable portion of food.

This used to be a nice local restaurant but not anymore- I will never go again . The restaurant was empty at Sunday lunch which says it all. The pate could have been from a supermarket, the chicken main course was sent back as tough and inedible. The burgers overcooked and with a bad taste, the chips frozen and tasteless. Even the coffee was bad. The manager did acknowledge this and apologise and knocked the cost off the bill. I am not sure who has written the glowing reviews - have they actually eaten at this restaurant?

They do a steak for 14.95 and because the other couple ordered that, I didn't want to go off piste and order a better steak. I should have done though!!! My steak was tough. I looked up at the signs, thinking perhaps I'd walked into Timpsons in error, but nope it was Côte! Tough steak and a handful of fries in a wire basket. I didn't complain. My son says I should always give a restaurant a chance to make good and judge them on that, not on an error or quality glitch. I feel if they can't get it right, vote with your feet and don't go back. I don't like to complain .. I get embarrassed at making a fuss. Anyway the steak was KAK, that is an abbreviation for Keep Away Komrades!. Then we had a crepe for dessert and that really did live up to its name in fact it was total crêpe, clearly reheated in a microwave, tough as the steak. No I didn't complain, if they send out poor food, why should I give them a chance to make up?? Get it right first time! And I am not being negative because on the plus side, the staff were charming, welcoming, polite, lovely, and the only complaint I can have with them is that they are not mind readers and couldn't tell my meal was Côtal Crêpe! .Then I said to myself , what do you expect for £14.95 for steak & chips? Something edible. If you can't do something nice for that price, raise your price, but have some respect for your customers and don't serve sub standard shoe leather and reheated crêpe!

I come here for coffee and delicious pastries. The best quality any chain can offer in my opinion. Expensive but what isn’t these days? I also come here to be treated as if I was a piece of trash. Their customer service skills are non existent. You are lucky if they even look at you. It must be in their contract to be rude, unfriendly and to provide the worst possible service. After 2 years I now find it quite amusing. There is only one person who is lovely and smiley. I hope they don’t bully her for being kind. However, I empathise with them to a certain degree because working in a busy cafe must be hard but can you maybe try a bit harder to be semi-decent at least?

I have been a regular at Cote for many years-even before it was a Cote. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners with family and friends. These days I like to meet friends for lunch. Extensive menu, special offers and everyone's favourite dishes. Last week I had pork belly, delicious cabbage and gratin potatoes, then creme brule and wonderful house wine. Staff are attentive and friendly. The dining room areas are lovely and there is a covered back garden. Famous folks eat there too.

The place is usually much better than this. The problem started with the order taking. One of us ordered a starter and a main course. The other preferred one starter followed by two starters to be served when their main was served to the other person. Although this was agreed and was read back to us by the server, what happened was different. The first of the three starters for second person duly arrived - the French Onion soup was quite good. However, the cheese souffle ordered to precede the first person's main course did not arrive. After enquiries were made, it seemed that there had been an error which meant that the cheese souffle had now to be started afresh. Except that it never was fresh. The cheese souffle, when it appeared, was served on a hot plate. However, the interior of the souffle was very cold, indicating that the defrosting process had not been completed. Thus, this dish was served in inedible condition. We figured that the rest of our meal was likely fated to be in danger of being messed up. So, we offered to pay for the one starter we had (this was politely declined) and we left before worse could befall us.

We had the set menu. Our server was friendly, but food was very slow. There seemed to be just one server, and the restaurant was not full on a rainy mid-week day. The croque Monsieur was a bit clumsy-looking. although substantial. The grilled chicken was tasty. However the presentation was messy compared with how I remember many previous and excellent meals at this Cote. When did Cote switch to heavy pottery bowls ? I felt disappointed and the buzz and stylishness I remember were lacking. The set menu used to be presented with style just as the top-priced items were. Have used this restaurant for years and had many wonderful meals there, but not this time.

Probably the best bakery franchise in London in terms of variety and quality. I've just had the pastrami bagel (at a steep price) yet delicious and filling. I anticipate it will fill me up for the rest of the day which is a positive. As expected the price point is a bit high. Elsewhere in Europe you'd pay two thirds less for a lot of what is on offer. Otherwise I would recommend Gail's as there is just so much on offer and the service is fast and efficient.

Complete disregard for whether decaf or real coffee is served, called out for collection of a cappuccino and when asked if it was decaf after a bit of discussion they decided it was. Either someone was going to get a decaf not realising, or we were palmed off with a real coffee (as seemed extremely likely). We're not precious, but it can be dangerous for others. Also as per other reviews, the coffee is often very poor, flat white/latte/capp all taste the same, not proper baristas.

I visit this branch of Gail's regularly. Today I visited at 2 PM, the place was not too busy, coffe fine and parmesan chicken delicious. However a customer does not have to clean the table like I did. There was not a clean table, and I had to move the plates and anything else by myself, plus wipe the table, since I always carry wet tissues with me. The only faultless branch of Gail's bakery seems to be my local one in West Hampstead.

Last week we had dinner at our local cote brasserie and, as always, a friendly welcome and prompt service. I had the French Onion soup, delicious and my partner enjoyed the beetroot salad....main course was Steak Frite, nicely cooked with good hot fries accompanied by a glass of a good Sauvignon Blanc. A very enjoyable meal on a cold night in Highgate.

Viajé a Londres para visitar el cementerio de Highgate. Investigué restaurantes cercanos en línea y me alegré de poder reservar Cote Brasserie desde su sitio web y el menú tenía gazpacho, que he estado anhelando durante un tiempo.Desinfectante de manos disponible al entrar - - el personal llevaba visores transparentes. El tamaño de las porciones era perfecto para mí, no demasiado grande.Mi hija adolescente tenía el paté como entrante y el solomillo como plato principal y estaba tan feliz como yo con sus opciones (era la primera vez que ordenaba un bistec en un restaurante, así que me alegro de que no haya sido difícil y espeluznante) . Mi compañero tenía una opción más básica de pollo y papas fritas, que según él era simplemente "buena", pero podría haber sido un poco más aventurero.Un postre de la mitad de una mousse de chocolate y té Earl Grey terminó muy bien. Me alegro de haber elegido este lugar y definitivamente volvería a visitarlo si estuviera en la zona. Noto que hay una Cote Brasserie cerca de mí en el centro de la ciudad de Birmingham, pero no parece estar abierta excepto para la entrega.

We enjoyed a great value lunch on the sunny terrace courtesy of Rishi's Eat Out to Help Out. This made the lobster very affordable and it was delicious. Good Covid precautions were in place, with all staff wearing visors, and we felt safe.

Disfrutamos de una comida maravillosa en la noche en que el fabuloso Cote en Highgate reabrió el cierre posterior. La comida fue excelente como siempre. Un agradecimiento especial a la fantástica Philippa que recordó nuestros pedidos habituales antes del cierre (¡hace aproximadamente 5 meses!) Incluso los vasos de los que nos gusta beber y los pequeños detalles habían sido anotados y retirados. . . ¡Servicio absolutamente 5 *! Gracias a todo el personal por una deliciosa comida y por hacernos sentir seguros al volver a cenar en estos tiempos extraños y desafiantes.

One of the great pluses of the Cotes is the great range and quality of the menus, which change monthly - the Highgate branch is one of the best - with a superb staff heightening the pleasure of the visit. All day from 11 am to 11 pm. Never disappointing. From brunch through lunch and tea to dinner and supper - all well presented and brilliantly supported. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, never pompous or snobby, but never downmarket either.

I have dined at several Cotes,and I have to report that my meal at Cote Highgate was the least enjoyable. There was no zing or panache, just mechanical service and rather tasteless chicken. The other Cotes that I have patronised could easily been sited in France, not so alas! in Highgate.

My wife and I went to Cote Highgate to celebrate a romantic Valentines evening. We were not disappointed . Food, service and ambience were excellent. We were wonderfully looked after by Francesca who was so friendly and helpful. The food was great . We both had prawns to start followed by Chateau Briand. All wonderful. The restaurant was full and really buzzy . It was excellent value for money. We will return soon

Went for breakfast Saturday morning. Had the formulae vegetarian option which was very nice - with delicious coffee and juice. I have also had the full English breakfast in the past, which is also really good. Service was great and price was reasonable.

This is a place where I have had breakfast on numerous occasions,and found it very nice. However, the eve ning meal I recently had was very poor. The Breton chicken I ordered was tough, unseasoned,without sauce or jus, and just plain dull.It was garnished by a few Rocket leaves without dressing, and some French fries.A small portion of garlic butter was the only other offering. My daughters vegetarian option was equally dull pasta. This is not a particularly cheap place to eat,and our food was undoubtedly over priced,as well as being very dull and unimaginative

Like the title says, if you have screaming brats and want to eat and drink and talk in a loud arrogant voice - you can either go to Wetherspoons or Cote Highgate. Neither establishment will challenge your bad parenting or unruly kids/screaming kids.Apart from that, the Cote meal we had was, as usual, good and reliable mid priced brasserie food. We chose from the lunch/early evening menu - 2 courses £11.95 and had whitebait and grilled chicken escalope. Service is usually good but they should start challenging and not be intimidated by the loud mouthed entitled Yahoo's of Highgate. Maybe the restaurant would be empty if that ever happens ?

I have a specific diet, gluten intolerant + vegan/veggie. Having chosen something off the Christmas menu and then something from the main gluten free menu I was informed that this was not possible. No 'buttons' to make changes??? The chef allegedly refused to cook one item from one menu and something else from another. After much discussion the manager, who did her best and I got what I wanted. Do chef's really have this much power? It is ridiculous that a customer cannot chose what they want from the menus presented. The negotiation took around 15 mins with the manager who was apologetic.

Walking in, we were greeted with smiling faces from everyone and this was the case throughout our visit. The food is delicious and is complimented by the great service. I will definitely be coming back in the future and I highly recommend it.

No por favor o gracias. golpeó las bebidas con tanta fuerza en la mesa que pensamos que había roto un vaso. se inclinó sobre nosotros para recoger platos por qué algunos todavía comen. Muy rara experiencia. Supongo que es difícil conseguir personal en esta ubicación, así que "cualquiera lo hará". tristemente, se notaba. Era nuestra segunda comida aquí en un mes y el tiempo anterior era un poco mejor, pero el equipo de administración claramente no se preocupa por dar un ejemplo en el frente del servicio.
