We love a good Indian, sadly we didn't get it from this establishment. I ordered a extra hot chicken jalfraze, the flavour was only of tabasco, a lazy way to spoil a expensive takeaway, it went in the bin.

Fancied a curry as staying in Aberaeron for two weeks. Quiet Sunday evening and called at Saagars. Ordered North Indian chicken tikka garlic chili. Repeated my order as requested by the young lady at the counter. Order quickly filled (too quickly)? Got home shortly afterwards and found the following in my bag. Chicken (Not tikka) in a watery sauce. Three small chili's and no garlic. Very disappointed 😞. Could have done better with a jar of sauce myself.

As a business owner, I don't like to leave a negative review, but I feel other potential customers should know what they're getting. We were excited to order a curry on our holiday as we have been having very good local foods from other retailers. We decided on a curry as we love it, and based on the standard that we have had on our holiday in Aberaeron which was really high. We collected the food and the anticipation was bubbling after a great day in the sun and a few beers. We opened the food and found decent poppadoms and samosas with salad and dips. When it came to the mains, the curries were extremely poor. Jalfrezi Chicken tikka watered down with not much flavour, odd strips of over cooked chicken and not much else. A real shame. We were left hungry. The Chicken Balti (6 out of 10) was way better than the Jalfrezi which was (2 out of 10) with better chunks of Chicken, but with a similar watered down method. The Garlic Naan was like cardboard and very disappointing. We phoned the restaurant to have a chat about the standard of food received but unfortunately nothing really came of it, so felt compelled to leave a review so that others could know what they are getting into if you're expecting a tasty curry. I really dont like leaving a negative review, but it wasn't cheap and it needed to be said. Hopefully this is read and actioned by the restaurant to improve the standard of food for future customers.

Our food was delicious, hot and the service was great. I ordered it on their website and asked in the notes section to swap the chicken in my Korma for Paneer, which they did without any issues. We were staying at Camping On The Farm, a 10 minute walk along the coast path from Aberaeron. We arrived at our selected time to collect our order and it was ready to go, a short walk back along the coastal path to our tent to enjoy some delicious food The terrible reviews for this place nearly put us off, but after seeing on their Facebook page that they're under new management and had some good comments on there, I'm really glad we gave them a try as the food was fantastic. The only reason I gave 4 stars was that we felt it was a little expensive. At home the same order costs us £45 and it was £65 here, but we usually get free poppadoms and pickle tray, which was an extra £10.50 here. But this wouldn't put us off ordering again. We will definitely be back next time we are staying at Camping On The Farm.

I was warned that the food in this establishment is not fit for human consumption.... wish I had. The king prawn jalfrezi was overcooked yesterday I a sure. Unpalatable is an understatement. He naan bread was tougher than a Cobblers Boot. The rice was ok but I am sure that I was just consoling myself with some kind of hope for some unfathomable reason. I threw it away in the end, dogs wouldn't touch it, neither would rats, but gulls or ducks? Let's see. I won't feed them the naan i'd have to soak it in water for an hour first to make it duck friendly and ducks are not known for their patience, gulls have even less. Hoha ..So Word of advice. Don't go to Saagar. If you do, guaranteed you will regret it. Ps, the website is out of date, apparently its outsourced... so expect prices to be higher than you think and want. I'm going out for edible food now, bye.

Absol, I gave one star as I could not give none which is my preferenceutely disgusted with the service, served, or more accurately refused to be served by the rudest lady I've ever met. I asked if they did any gluten free food and she grunted, I asked was the korma gluten free and she snapped no, it has almonds in it, I said gluten free is wheat and barley and could she please ask the chef, then she snapped were not serving you because we don't want environment health visiting them, and refused to serve me. I had a car full all hungry and waiting for food and one was gluten free. This was not only rude, obnoxious, but discrimination and they do not deserve to have any custom at all if they treat people like this. I am sure, when accustomed to the menu, the offering from this takeaway is perceived very nice by many. However, we are used to an Indian takeaway that has plenty of substance and flavour. Unfortunately, the chicken pasanda we received was like watery soup with some rubbery chicken pieces floating in it. The Gobi Aloo contained tasteless halves of potato and cauliflower pieces again, floating in a watery soup. On the plus side, the pillau rice was lovely. I wish I’d trusted the previous reviews and remain thoroughly disappointed with the Saagar at Aberaeron. Sorry to leave a poor review, it doesn’t sit nicely with me to do it, but I also think there are some serious shortcomings here.

I was on holiday and I was in the mood for a curry, I decided I would try Saagar Tandoori. The food was great, the curry had a great taste and the chicken was cooked perfectly, it came to a very reasonable price too. The only downsides really were firstly that I wasn't able to find a detailed menu online, only a really cut down version on facebook. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places but they don't seem to have much available online. Second was that they only accept cash, not the end of the world as there's a cash machine a few minutes away but a bit irritating in a world where I can pay for most things on my phone. It would have been nice to know that beforehand.Overall my experiene was very pleasant, they were friendly and served us some really tasty food!

My daughter and I decided we wanted a takeaway while she was visiting me at the end of August, and so we decided to call in at the Saagar Tandoori Balti takeaway in Aberaeron, just a couple of miles from home. The serving area of the takeaway is quite small, but all you need is a counter where you give your order, and pay for it, and a few comfortable chairs if you want to sit and wait for your order while it's being cooked fresh for you - It can take anything from 30-45 minutes to be done, so my advice would be to phone in your order first, then go pick it up at the time the server suggests - that way you won't need to hang around! :) It seemed quite busy when we got there, even though it was only just after 6pm, so we told the server that we'd come back in the half an hour he told us our order would take. We got back in that half an hour, and the food was handed over to us in a box, to make it easy to carry, and so we caught a taxi home, then dished out the food.Despite it being around 15-20 minutes before we got a taxi, then arrived home, the food was still piping hot as I took it out of the box.I chose the Tandoori Chicken, as I hadn't eaten that in a long time, and the server recommended the local chef's own sauce to go with it - Tandoori Chicken Chatt Masala -so that's what I ordered. My daughter ordered Chicken Pasanda, and we also ordered Rice, Garlic Nan & Keema Nan bread and Poppadoms to go with it.I have to say, my Tandoori Chicken was the tastiest I'd ever had - and I've had it quite a few times over the years, at different places! There was an abundance of the chicken tandoori itself, which was perfectly cooked, and melt-in-the-mouth tender, and the chef's sauce was amazingly tasty - it's going to be a go-to meal for me whenever I fancy another Indian takeaway next! My daughter's meal was equally as delicious - we tried each other's food, as we couldn't resist seeing if the other meal was just as delicious as our own! LolThe portions were more than plentiful - in fact, we both had more than enough to have the same amount of food the next day! The prices were more than fair, especially considering the portion size, and the remaining Rice, Naan bread, and Poppadoms stayed beautifully fresh for the next day, too - as an aside,we shared the Nan breads, and I'd never had the Keema Nan before - it was delicious, and I'm VERY fussy where minced meat is concerned! :) The staff were polite, helpful with suggestions and descriptions of the food contents and, all-in-all, it was a very friendly service:) I can't understand the negative reviews I've seen on here - although most of them seem to come from holidaymakers, rather than locals - but I can understand why the locals go back there time after time - and I'll definitely be one of them from now on! :)

WE had chicken Shashlick - thin strips rather than huge chunks of chicken, but still tasty, Tarka Dhal, a vegetable Jalfrezie (mainly onions) and cauliflower bhaji, along with poppadums. I also had the Phall sauce, which was stupendously hot, and I'm still nibbling bits of it slowly a week later. Poppadums were ok, but beware the cost of the pickle tray items ! It adds up. Unfortunately the three dishes we ordered were very bland. My Biriyani had little flavour with the sauce tasting like potato soup. Wifes chicken Madras was big lumps of chicken in a sort of gravy. This is a decent little take away with quite a wide menu it is worth picking something up. We have a caravan on Aeron Coast so use this one quite often and I must say the food is always hot when you get it back to base.

Came here for the first time as I'm visiting my dad and didn't want to cook. Ordered a chicken Korma, egg fried rice an peswari nan (how ever you spell it). It was great hardly any grease and was tasty. Surprised it's not ran by Indians, but nether the less they are doing it right

Always go here as the food is excellent. The potions are enough to have the next night so good value for money as well. i have traveled to India several times and without doubt Saagars food is just as good and authentic. Oh and I forgot to say that the staff cannot do more to please.

Second time I have been in four years and it is just as good as the first time. Lamb saag balti is unbelievable and good value. It's hard to find an Indian takeaway as consistently good as this one, especially out in west wales! Highly recommend

Food standard agency hygiene rating of 5/5, good friendly service and good value for money. Can't find fault. It's best to order in advance and then go pick it up, otherwise it's a 15-20 minute wait. Chicken Pathia is recommended!

Fantastic to see a bilingual take-away menu, as one would expect maybe in Mid-Wales. Its a pity that not all businesses in Wales do the same.

Had a lovely takeaway from here and shared a very tasty meal, the only criticism is that in our chicken dish there were two big lumps of potato, obviously as a filler. No guys, put your prices up rather than cut corners!!! You have no competition in the town, the other Indian has nothing on you guys

called in after being at the Aberaeron Beer and Cider festival in the Summer! I was starving and fancied something more than a burger or kebab! Ordered the standard Chicken Tikka Masala and Pilau rice. Now you could say that I'm a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to the old Tikka Masala, as I'm not very adventurous when it comes to Indian food! I have to say that it was fantastic, lots of chicken, tasty sauce, not bland or too creamy! Will definitely call in again!

I live locally and we always like to try different places to eat. All are OK but when you want proper Indian food this is the place to go!! The byriani is full of flavour and have so many choices, we have tried a lot off the menu and are very impressed with every dish. Only thing I would recommend is a home delivery service, even though I love going in and seeing their smiley faces!

Wasn’t terrible but certainly not a great standard the chicken tasted like processed chicken and I had Chicken Tikka plain meal as I have a stomach problem at the moment and it was more like a chicken Shish from the kebab shop next door which was excellent by the way so not awful but wouldn’t rush to go back

We felt very welcomed and the service was excellent. Our food didn’t take long to be served and food was very delicious , and was reasonably priced making it very attractive restaurant. I would highly recommend visiting if you’re after high quality Indian food.

Been to the Shapla many times and have tried various meals from the menu all seem to use the same sauce bland no real taste. Have noticed prices have risen and the nan bread has got smaller and very flat. Disappointing. Will not be rushing back.
