Ryries Bar in Edinburgh, City of

No es una gran experiencia. Todo el lugar se ve mucho mejor después de la renovación, pero por dentro no ha mejorado. Tiene un olor gracioso que empeora cuando vas al baño de caballeros. Si puedes aguantar la respiración un par de minutos, lo intentaría aquí. Buena elección de cerveza, la mayoría de los cuales está bien cuidado, pero algunos de los empleados del bar parecen tener una mala actitud hacia los clientes. Es uno de esos bares que empeora a medida que se pone más ocupado - hay mucho mejores lugares dentro de 5 - 10 minutos a pie (Thomsons, Teuchters, The Roseburn...)

Tuve una espera de 2 horas para mi tren, así que vi este pub agradable cerca de la estación de Haymarket. El encantador portero me ayudó a llevar mis 2 maletas grandes en el bar. El lugar estaba ocupado y bullicioso con la mayoría de los fans de Hearts que a pesar de perder antes eran amables y verdaderamente hospitalarios. Nos encanta Edimburgo y esta es otra joya. No comí, pero el menú se veía muy bien. ¡Me gusta la variedad de drams locales!

Un encantador bar antiguo y tradicional junto a la estación de Haymarket. Vinimos aquí el lunes para tomar una copa cuando estábamos temprano para nuestro tren. Personal y servicio acogedor y amable, gran ambiente con una mezcla de personas y muy ocupado de hecho. Nunca comimos aquí, pero la comida se veía bien. Buena elección de ales reales disponibles. Los baños de señoras necesitan un poco de TLC Definitivamente volveré.

Ryries es un bar tradicional muy concurrido cerca de la estación de Haymarket. Estaba muy ocupado debido a su proximidad al Murrayfield Rugby Stadium. El ambiente era brillante, en parte debido al resultado del rugby, y el personal del bar sobrecargado de trabajo hizo muy bien para dar un servicio rápido La comida del bar está disponible, pero debido a la ocupación del bar, decidí moverme más cerca del centro de la ciudad para una comida

Chicos, ¿podrían limpiar los baños de los chicos? Entiendo que es un pub muy concurrido, pero basta con mirar los urinarios, la estación de moho, el polvo y la suciedad a su alrededor, el cromo que está cubierto de polvo y un piso que está empapado de orina vieja. Incluso el fregadero era horrible, un golpecito suelto con su accesorio infestado de barro... totalmente sombrío y totalmente arreglable...

Echt een gezellige pub op loopafstand van ons hotel. Er wordt jaren 80 muziek gedraaid, wat wij erg leuk vinden. Er is vele keuze in dranken en het personeel is vriendelijk. De kaart is klein, maar fijn. Heerlijk eten.

Leider ist die Speise- bzw. Menükarte auf der Webseite des schönes Pubs völlig überaltert und wird laut Personal nicht mehr aktuallisiert! Das hat uns sehr enttäuscht, hatten wir uns doch im Vorfeld sehr auf die eine oder andere bestimmte schottische Spezialität gefreut. Hinzu kommt, dass die Anzahl der verfügbaren Speisen arg zusammengestrichen wurde. Alles in allem dieses Pub nahe der Haymarket Station eher ein Ort für einen Drink.

A nice historic and traditional bar with a friendly vibe. Not all the draught options were available on a weekday afternoon but the prices were reasonable for the location. It’s nice that there’s a small amount of seating outside, which a brilliant spot to relax in the sun and people watch. Well worth visiting for some culture and I’ll be returning.

Wir haben hier sehr einen sehr leckeren Burger und Fish and Chips gegessen. Bedienung sehr freundlich und der Cider war sehr köstlich. Preis und Leistung stimmt.

Popped in to my old haunt whilst waiting for a train. One young barman busy making coffees and working out how to carry jug and cup to a table - asked for a pint of Landlords and got a pint of foam Asked for an actual pint of beer and he took it away filled half then went to make another coffee - 5 minutes later I got a pint which cost £5.20 Place was not busy so can’t imagine what it is like when it is. There were 2 people waiting behind me Won’t be returning

Stopped here for a quick whisky on a Saturday evening. It was pretty busy when we stopped in after 10. Didn’t have too much time to make a proper impression. Service while we were there was quick, and they had a decent selection of whiskies for reasonable prices.

One of our group ordered a glass of chardonnay and it smelled and tasted as if it was corked or the bottle was open too long and it had a brownish tint. We immediately returned the wine and spoke to a young barman with long curly hair. He never smelled the wine - but dipped a drinking straw into it and tasted a drop of the wine off his finger and announced it was fine! On noting the brownish discoloration, he said the colour was fine. We just left and will not be back. Any establishment can have an off bottle of wine but to be so discourteously treated by someone who never even bothered (or knew) to smell the wine shows poor training as well as poor manners. We or our friends will not be back at Ryries

Este es un gran lugar para comer algo típico escocés. Puede disfrutar de comidas y bebidas locales, buenas y asequibles. Personal amable, buen ambiente y una amplia variedad de cervezas y whiskies disponibles. Justo en la esquina de la estación de Haymarket. Conserva su carácter con atractivas vidrieras, impresionantes carpinterías de barra y techos abovedados. Cuando visite Edimburgo, no debe perderse Ryries on Haymarket. Pub típico escocés acogedor. Realmente lo recomiendo.

Great Edinburgh bar. Good location by Haymarket Station. Has bands on. Good for rugby days. What’s not to like!

Visité aquí recientemente con amigos y disfrutamos de una buena cerveza antes de ir a un partido de fútbol. El bar es de buen tamaño y ofrece una buena variedad de cervezas, sidras y licores. El ambiente es bueno y el personal amable y eficiente. Vale la pena intentarlo.

Every single wall of the pub has "FAMILIES WELCOME" painted on it but apparently they don't allow kids? Either couldn't be bothered having kids in so the woman on the bar made that up or all of their advertising is a lie...either way, not great.

We popped in on a very cold evening, about 10.40pm, to have a drink before catching our train to Glasgow (the friendlier city in Scotland)!!All I can say is that the welcome we receive could have come straight from the freezer! ❄️☃️❄️We were told that the bar was closing at 11pm and this would be the last drink we could get! The bar staff (2 lads with beards) were incredibly rude and ignorant! We drank up and we’re out before the majority of the clientele! The staff obviously thought they were doing us a favour, rather than the other way round!?!?!Avoid this place at all costs!!!!It was awful! Unfriendly and very, very unwelcoming!!!!!!Everything Scotland is not!!!!! I had to give this place 1 star!!!! The If I could have, I would have given it zero!!!!!

Nous avons été séduit par l'ambiance conviviale, l'authenticité des lieux la bière et le fish and chips.Les assiettes sont bien garnies et le patron très sympa.N'hésitez donc pas à passer la porte de ce lieux chaleureux !

Llegamos a las sirte de la tarde aproximadamente. Preguntamos que si podíamos cenar y nos dijeron que nos sentáramos donde quisiéramos (no había mucha gente porque era temprano) y nos dieron la carta. Mientras decidíamos que pedir para cenar, pedimos cervezas (íbamos 6 personas) que nos cobraron sobre la marcha cuando lo normal es que cobren todo al final de la cena. Y cuando nos acercamos a la barra a pedir nuestra cena, nos dijeron que eramos muchos para cenar y que no nos servían.

Cambié su nombre desde la última vez que estuve, estoy seguro, aunque no recuerdo cómo se llamaba. Buena selección de cervezas reales y hubiera estado muy contento de quedarme un tiempo más, pero tenía otros lugares a donde ir.

La hamburguesa infantil era como la suela de mi zapato. Hacía frío y el pan ni siquiera estaba tostado. Palitos de mozzarella con sabor a papel de seda. Pedimos un par de cosas fuera del menú para decirles que ya no las hacen. Coloca un olor a lejía hasta el punto de que me da dolor de cabeza. El personal descuidado y miserable. No me sentí bienvenido en absoluto. ¿Nunca recomendaría este lugar?

Once again in Edinburgh and headed to one of my favourite bars, Ryries in Haymarket. Very friendly and cheerful staff who chatted away. Great Guinness and the food was brilliant. I had the Xmas Special:- Turkey, Stuffing, Pigs in the Blanket, Creamy mash Potatoes, Brussel sprouts, Baby carrots, Cranberry sauce and delicious Gravy. A huge helping and was struggling to finish but manged nevertheless. My friend had the Steak Pie which was very good also. A must visit if you are in Edinburgh over Xmas and also anyother time for that matter. Highly recommmended.

Van buiten ziet deze pub er heel erg leuk uit. Het heeft een bepaalde aantrekkingskracht. We hebben hier een drankje gedaan en een hapje gegeten. Het was één en al gezelligheid. Het was aardig druk.

Ein typisch schottischer Pub, in dem wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben und gut gegessen haben.Battered Haddock , dieser Fisch hat besonders gut geschmeckt. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Been going here off and on for 4 decades and like myself, it's had it's ups & downs. Good atmosphere, decent selection of cask ales. All in all it's doing good as a traditional old Edinburgh bar.

It had been a few months since we'd visited here, as on previous occasions it had been packed and we went elsewhere. This Saturday afternoon, before a Hearts match, it was quite quiet and we managed to get a table. We ordered drinks and sandwiches and small chips (shown on the menu). We were charged for large chips without being advised that the small chips were no longer served. When we queried the price we were dealt with in an unfriendly manner and no hint of an apology from the surly manager. The food was okay but it is a shame that such an attractive pub is spoilt by the personnel. They could do with taking a leaf out of book from the Haymarket pub across the road, where we will be going on the next visit to Edinburgh!

We loved this beautiful pub (gorgeous stained glass) and the people working there. Very easy to have a conversation with them (we talked about whether this was an independent - vs corporate-owned - pub (it is, partially) and about Scottish vodka (!!!) When we returned a few evenings later, the guy remembered our vodka chat. Very friendly, local clients and staff

I have been to Ryries Pub many, many times when I visit Edinburgh. Located next to Haymarket Station it is very convenient if you are waiting for a train or just wanting some refreshments and a bite to eat when in Edinburgh. Old worldly with good beer and food. The décor is a bit worn but the service from the bar staff is very good and friendly. Worth a visit for sure.

Ordered the salted Carmel chocolate tart and was immediately in love with the richness of the flavors. I enjoyed it again and was surprised that the owner had made it himself. It is hard to find such quality and a person with the skill to create it. Also lovely ambience at the bar with create service.

Ideally located by Haymarket Station and serving good beers, wines and spirits this bar has everything going for it. Friendly staff and reasonable prices make it a popular choice. Nothing fancy but a genuine Edinburgh institution.

Called in on Thursday morning for a quick drink after Myself and my friends got off the train for a quick Gin and Tonic, and for a bit of nostalgia as I used to work in here around 15 years ago, and the staff were beyond unhelpful and rude, didn’t even so much as crack a smile, ordered our drinks, saw them pour my Bombay and a fever tree, ( all sealed ) so thought all good, but my god the taste was vile, the limes and lemons were starting to go brown at the edges, and my guess is the ice machine needs a good clean as our gin drinks tasted revolting, my friends vodka was fine, they refused to replace the guns but did give us a refund but that was only if my friend returned her vodka, she went into deal with them while I sat outside, all in all horrendous service and disgusting drinks, will definitely not be returning, such a shame as it used to such a great wee pub !

Dropped in for the first time in some years to find cask ales on offer. First one was presented like soup. The second little better. No sale. Very disappointing.

Raining when we got off the train, this was the best looking pub that was close to the train station, we tried it, read their history, got some local brochures and maps, lists of things to do, sat drank, had lunch, waited out the rain, mice time.

Great little recommendation from our local taxi driver. A superb little Scottish pub. Tried a local pint and watched the cricket. Couldn’t fault the place. Friendly staff who offered some local knowledge on where to eat to!

We stopped in for a pint and a meal. Friendly staff and cold beer. I had the Hunter's chicken and it was very tasty. We will for sure drop in again.

Když jsme přijeli do Edinburghu museli jsme někde počkat, než jsme se mohli jít ubytovat. Tohle místo nás zaujalo. Přišlo nám to jako klasická skotská hospoda, kde zároveň i moc dobře vařili. Točí výborné pivo a mají ochotnou obsluhu. Rozhodně mohu jen doporučit.

This place was right on the bus stop to our hotel and a great choice for a meal after a long day of walking and sightseeing. Steakpie was yummy, good beers and atmosphere. Friendly staff and clean restrooms.

After a long day of exploring Edinburgh we stopped by here on our way back to our Airbnb flat. We were not disappointed. Mix of locals and tourists like us. Like many pubs in UK you order your drinks and food at the bar. We had fish and chips and steak pie and they were both very tasty. Good price and we loved the atmosphere.

Huge thanks to friendly Manager Wendy for looking after us all so well behind the bar and to the lady Chef for the yummy buffet.The organising was easy and the function room itself was cosy and warm with a great layout and just the right size. En arrivant de l’aeroport , nous nous sommes arrêtés dans ce pub pour manger un morceau et boire une bière car nous avons été séduit par la façade bleue. Le service est très moyen et la cuisine est vraiment quelconque...heureusement qu’il y avait un large choix pour les bières !!

Nous cherchions après un pub écossais typique et n’avons pas était déçu de l’intérieur des lieux cependant la façon donc nous avons été reçus laisse vraiment à désiré « c’est pour boire ou manger ? »

Great spot for a few drinks and the staff are very friendly. Food portions are on the small side and a bit pricey for what you get. Menu range is fairly basic. On the plus side, the ambience is good and the Guinness is great !

This place is located immediately outside Haymarket Station and is very popular with rail travelers at all times of the day. Serves a great pint and gives a friendly welcome. Much more expensive however than a modern 'chain' bar across the road. It's a very traditional bar however and I like it.

Good place to stop for a beer and get some snacks! The nachos with cheddar cheese were really good, however I cannot say the same about the onion rings which tasted a lot like oil. Average prices.

Por fuera es precioso, sacado de alguna pelicula de Dickens. Por dentro es acogedor, y estaba lleno de parroquianos locales (mi mujer y yo, los únicos turistas. Está en la zona de Haymarket, al lado de la Estación del mismo nombre.

Not a bad bar, 3 minutes walk to Haymarket Station (without crossing any roads). Beer was well kept and plenty of choices.

We stopped here for a beer at the end of a day of walking all over old town and new town. It was close to our hotel and was a nice quiet place. Not much in the way of customers here, but it might just have been the time of day. The beer was good and the service was, too. You have a good view of Haymarket from here and can people watch if you want to.

Ryries is a bit of an instution for locals in the Dalry road area. it is an old pub and typical of its day. smallish bar split in two with a restaurant upstaiars. it has a limited range of beers which are usuallly kept ok.

I loved this pub! The staff was friendly and helpful, and offered some great whiskey choices. The food was great and very filling, just what was needed after a long day of sightseeing! Try the steak pie, fork tender beef in a rich gravy. I will be missing it now that I am home, should have tried to get the recipe. I will go back on my next trip.

Poor selection of ales - service variable but generally poor, staff unaware of who had been waiting longest to be served.

We called in as it was the first pub near where we were staying. The pub was nice inside and bar member who served us was very friendly and pleasant. However maybe we should have shopped around and not just gone in the first pub as the round of drinks in there was far more expensive than for the same round in other pubs we visited during our stay.

Siento dar esta opinion pero es la impresión que nos llevamos. No puedo opinar sobre la comida puesto que no tuve la oportunidad de probarla aunque lo intentamos por dos veces. El primer dia llegamos a las 21 h pasadas, por lo que nos dijeron que ya era tarde.Ningún problema, lo intentamos a la mañana siguiente más temprano. La respuesta en tono poco amable fue que no servian cenas , nos parecio entender por falta de personal. Por horario esta vez no podia ser.

Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, and a great pub atmosphere. We loved it! We had walked all over the Haymarket area and Dean Village hoping to find a pub that looked perfect for our last night in Edinburgh. They had all of our favorite beers, plus an excellent dinner. Multiple TV screens as well, that were easy to see.

At the seats outside you definitely get to see the world go by and for that alone it is worth a stop! Drinks were nice and although we didn't indulge in food what we saw looked OK.

De bonnes bières écossaises servies à la pompe manuelle. Ça c'est appréciable. Le site est très joli. Très typique.
