Lovely clean restaurant, warmly greeted by the host Neil and Iona. Our server Chloe was lovely and attentive. Food was awesome as usual. Thank you for a lovely meal.

The staff here are fantastic they can’t do enough for you and do it all with a smile on their face they are great with the kids it’s why we are here every week to see the girls who work there. Food is good the dirty burger combo is definitely a hit!

Brought my little niece to the play area at the harvester and I wanted to say how much she enjoyed her time here. There was a particular member of staff I think her name was Louise, who was particularly extremely helpful and friendly! She interacted with the children and adults well and made our afternoon very enjoyable! We will definitely be back very soon and have recommended this play area to all of my friends also.

I live nearby this pub and love bringing the kids to the play area while the adults can have a quick meal and chat. Louise the staff member who was in charge of the play area was amazing, she was very helpful, friendly and the kids loved her. It made me feel at ease knowing the kids were in good hands. Highly recommend going for food her. She is a credit to your work force. Thanks again.

Fabulous service! The staff literally can not do enough for you. It is so nice to see them smiling and chatting away to everyone that comes in. Had the dirty burger today for the first time it was great! Will definitely be returning and having that again. Food was presented very well and tasted great.

Called into the Ryhope Harvester as used regularly prior to COVID. Menu was disappointing and not cheap lucky to get meal under £10. We opted for a wrap costing £6.99, chicken tasted rubbery and chips were frozen. Like a previous review a McDonald’s meal would have been cheaper. On this showing won’t be frequenting this pub in the future

The service was very good, but the food was very very disapointing, i paid over the odds for what was a pub meal. we had 3 different meals, each costing between 12 n 16 pounds. Macdonalds drive through looked more inviting. and was proberbly more tasty.

Visited here recently and was very disappointed. Menu is quite limited and when asked, no one could say if any of the food was glutton free. Food is poor quality pub grub at restaurant prices.

Called in from shopping on the off chance and had the warmest of greetings,what a lovely atmosphere! The staff here couldn’t have been more accommodating. Didn’t catch his name but the man behind the bar I think may have been management that served us was lovely! I’d definitely recommend the food here too. Free salad bar is a bonus.

Visited Harvester Ryhope today for breakfast with my partner and baby. Have to say it’s definitely one of the best all you can eat breakfasts Iv had as it is all prepared/cooked fresh for you rather than buffet style and this suits me perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble, food was delicious and excellent prices. Our waitress was Lisa and she was wonderful! She took the time to talk to my baby girl and just generally put us at ease. Will definitely be returning as it’s very family friendly

Been coming here every Monday for a few weeks now with my 2 year old son and 4 year old niece. The staff are lovely and can not do enough for you and the children. Everywhere is nice and clean, not crowded and we feel covid safe on every visit. The kids love it and it's very reasonably priced. Well done. Looking forward to trying the breakfast in the Harvester on our next visit as have just heard they are amazing.

Nice to be back in the harvester after so long closed. Came in with eldest 2 after a walk for some ice cream and a bit of running around fuzzy Ed’s. Kids really enjoyed it and the member of staff in there, louise, made sure we were looked after. The play area was considerably cleaner than I remember it too, hopefully it won’t be long until it opens up fully.

I was in 2 minds as to whether I should write this review but I think the people in charge should be aware of how things are at times with their staff,. We've eaten here quite a few times, always for lunch and everything has always been spot on from the service to the food. Popped in on Monday lunchtime to be greeted by someone shouting across the room, from the bar area, telling us to fill in our details on the app. I don't have a smartphone and I told the woman that, having to shout back across the room and that was the last I saw of her! She took drinks to someone down the bottom end, though the doors and that was it. There was no 'I'll be back in a minute, sorry for your wait; The usual procedure is to approach the customer and ask if they have the NHS app and if not, either take details or the customer fills in a form. Not shouting back and forth across the room. Awful. I only saw 2 customers there and this one surly member of staff so I think more of an effort at basic politeness should be in order to get customers into the place and keep them coming back, If I'd have seen any other staff there I would have asked to see the manager. Needless to say, we didn't wait long for her to return, which she didn't, before we were out in the car and driving up to the Holymere where we received a much better welcome and they were happy to receive our £25 no doubt. I eat out between 2-3 times per week and that sometimes includes Harvester pubs at Wessington Way and the one at Durham and they are really good but I'll give this place a miss in future, which is a pity because I've had many a good meal here with pleasant staff serving it. I hope the General manager reads this and passes it onto 'the team' and I hope someone relays the message that in these times when pubs are closing hand over fist that it's important to treat the customer with respect. If you are going to say people were off sick etc then being busy doesn't mean you forego politeness.

Called in for dinner. Ate here a few years back and not that impressed. Tried it again and a huge improvement I have to say. Clean, tidy, staff really good and food was very good. Will definitely come back again in the future.

Took my son on a Saturday tea time, my son is a fussy eater but harvester absolutely provided the top food I remember from the amazing food chain. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food and service from them. Would highly recommend to all. Thankyou Harvester.

For our first family meal out we decided to go to the harvester as we absolutely love this place. The staff are brilliant, very helpful and always make you feel safe and welcome in these difficult times. They never seem to stop working yet always make time to see how you are and how you have been through lock down. The manager is just great with the guests always happy and smiling! Already booked another table at the weekend.

We visited on Wednesday on the day the pub was closing, the service was nothing short of amazing. The staff were rushed off their feet as they now have to do literally everything for you. Yet they did it with a smile on their faces and were very friendly. The food was great and our steaks were cooked to perfection. The manager was fantastic she was great with all the customers and the little ones. We genuinely can not wait for this to reopen we will be making sure that we book straight up. We are now planning on booking for Xmas just based on the service that we received from the manager and the girls on shift

I visited here on Sunday 18th October for Breakfast, and was really impressed, it was clean, and the place had maintained social distancing and staff were very friendly. Went for the unlimited breakfast and the choice was unbelievable. Catered to my fussy needs as I love crispy bacon. Food came out fast and was delicious. Sausages are the best I've had in a while. Would definitely come back for breakfast aswell as main meal one time. Hope to see you all soon.

Visited again and can honestly say I felt 100% safe in the current climate! All staff are following the guidelines and the service they provide is second to none. Food as always is delicious, value for money and plenty of choice. Definitely recommend, keep up the good work!

Came for breakfast this morning and was served by grant and Robyn . Absolutely fantastic service and Covid procedures Were well adhered to. Breakfast cooked by the chef anth was amazing and cooked to perfection. Could not fault it At all.

We came out for a family meal on Thursday and we’re greeted and served by Ann who was very helpful and attentive and made our visit really enjoyable, we will definitely be back

We came for dinner one night, we were served by the fabulous Isla! She was so attentive, a friendly face was such a wonderful sight in these dark times. She was more than incredible, our orders were all perfect and on time. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Isla deserves a bottle of champagne for her incredible work attitude and service.

First time out for a family meal in a long time and so pleased we picked here. Our server was nothing short of amazing, she couldn’t do enough to help and was rushed off her feet going backwards and forwards getting things for my kids. We felt very safe here with the new way they do the salad bar although it must now be a lot more work. We have booked a table again for next week again. Staff have been fantastic in delivering a safe and friendly experience. They went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and understood the changes. The changes did not impact the freshness of the meals and salad. Amazing food and service, can not wait to go back!

We decided to visit our Harvester again. Not many people in but it was 20.30. We were greeted by Iona our waitress. What a happy young lady. We ordered our meals but before that Iona asked us to follow the procedures due to the ongoing issues. Our salad was picked for us and brought to our table. We got our main meal and it was great. Iona brought our drinks over. We we looked around and realised that we were the only persons in the restaurant. A really nice evening. Tremendous staff! Visited on Monday night for the 50% off and all I can say is that the team on shift were nothing short of amazing. There was a wait for food but they gave 100% always smiling and making sure that all the guest were happy. They literally did everything and were always back and fourth to the tables. I look forward to visiting again with my family next week. Thank you for making us feel safe in these difficult times yous are a credit to harvester

Great food and 5star service from the staff that work there. They can’t help you enough from recommending the new dishes they have, to helping the kids with their colouring ins. This is our favourite place to eat as a family!

took grandkids in as they had mac and cheese on menu i normally enjoy meal there original combo i had corn on cob husband had cod and chips his chips were over salted which is bad for him my chicken was dry and ribs stringy corn wasnt nice and kids didnt eat theirs either so total waste of 40.00

I have been to the harvesters many times for children's parties and have never been disappointed. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the soft play area and adults enjoy a meal in the fantastic restaurant where the staff are always extremely obliging. My 33year old grand daughter has decided to have her birthday there so that she can have the food she can enjoy. She has to follow a vegan diet because she has so many food allergies and here she will have a variety to choose from. her birthday she 23rd of march so we will no doubt be going there between now and then to sort out the party for kids and grown up s alike. I call in there many times for lunch but this will be a first.vsi watch this space as this is something new for me . Must say I'm looking forward to my meat dinner and the veg us very good. My only trouble is that the salad bar is fantastic and I tend to fill upon the terrific variety. Mind you their bread buns are to die for.so watch this space xxx

We were visiting on spec having missed harvester metrocentre we were in the area and thought let’s go! So glad we did the girl who served us was heavily pregnant yet never stopped everything from the salad bar was super fresh and well stocked as were buns. Super clean restaurant and disabled toilet with easy access super clean again! Felt lovely with the Christmas tree it was just a really nice day the food was just cooked perfectly and we had the surf and turf and of course my jacket potato was cooked to perfection I’d recommend this place to anyone. The kickin garlic sauce is just so nice can’t wait to visit again ASAP

Great meal. Called in for dinner last night, ate from the 3 course festive menu. Turkey dinner with pigs in blankets extra were extremely good, also matched by top service! Well worth as visit if in that area.

Not visited for a while. Decided to eat out. Greeted by Isla who was our server. Very polite. The salad bar was limited and low. Our meal came after 20 mins. Isla my Fiancee didn't like the sauce to compliment the meal. Isla went to the chef to ask what other sauce to find for the meal. Really impressed with Isla and the chef to take some time to seal the deal. Meal great, service great. Isla was so professional and smiles all the time. Thank you Isla. We will visit again. Management should be proud of that young lady.

We were in the area and we pleased to find a Harvester pub, looking forward to a nice Sunday lunch. We were sorely disappointed. The best thing on the plate was the Yorkshire pudding. The roast potatoes and all the vegetables were frozen ones, not a fresh veg in sight. The cauliflower was watery, the carrots tasteless, green beans stringy but the peas were ok.

Not been here before but called for breakfast the other day and really enjoyed it. Had an unlimited b/fast with continental included. Not the cheapest but very good nontheless. No complaints with staff either, we were looked after extremely well. We will be back next time we're over that way.

Visited mid September. With two young children. The safety gate to the service area was broken meaning that children could enter. A health and safety hazard with it also serving hot drinks. People in our company complained of the stench coming from the baby changing facilities. Went back the following week. The gate to the service area was still broken. The smell coming from the toilets is appalling. Having to use the toilets found the bins overflowing with nappies. Again is this not a health and safety concern. Complaint made through website but no response

It's a lovely place to come for nice quick food, the food is always super tasty and our server Isla was a delight and more than helpful :)

Went for a meal on my birthday [evening ] both meals we ordered they did not have something in it ,they then made an error with mine I got the wrong meal.They said sorry which is fair enough but did not give us any discount ,but we enjoyed what we had.

Called in today for a late lunch. Food was good, had 3 course set menu. Couldn't eat it all but staff kindly let me take our dessert home in a takaway box. Excellent staff, would recommend if you've not been before.

Not visited a Harvester for a while. Only passing through Sunderland and decided to eat here. Ate from the set menu, amazing value and tasted great. Staff and manager couldn't have been been more helpful. Will be using our local Harvester when we get back. Just hope they are as good as this one!!

Popped in after shopping. Wasn't expecting much, but it was amazing! The salmon was superb with a sticky sauce & golden rice. Absolutely loved the help yourself salad bar. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back.

Visited harvester chains for the last few years with friends, disappointed that a few of the local ones have closed down, however service and food at Rhyope is great. Thanks to the waitress Isla :)

Went in for lunch on Mon. Been a regular here for a few years, must say, its 100 times better than it was years ago. Staff are really polite and helpful. Couldn't fault the food either.

Visited Friday teatime with Diane to use a Groupon voucher - we were both a little apprehensive following our last disappointing visit and this proved well-founded. The very limited menu was negotiated with a willing but inexperienced waitress and the resulting food declared entirely underwhelming (we ate the -small- mushroom starter but left most of the steak & chicken/rib combo). On this occasion the salad was equally unimpressive and rather "tired" so there really wasn't any saving feature. Having now given the place a third largely unsuccessful try we won't be back........

Made to order breakfast, continental help yourself. Served by the polite and fabulous Shiela as always, cheery and welcoming. Nothing is of a bother and accommodating as always.

Wife and I plus niece from Australia.Booked table prior to visit to local theatre to see "War Horse" Early Saturday evening and mostly families with kids, but food ready very quickly. Isla our waitress was 1st class, and very jovial a credit to her job. Have visited this Harvester several times before, and will visit again.

Our oldest son asked to come here for a meal with his friend for his 13th.

Not many people in for a Valentines Day, However it was nice to talk to my partner without shouting. drinks ordered and delivered by Isla who was very polite. We ordered off the Valentines Day menu. Our starter came really quickly as myself and my Fiancée still eating our salad bowls. Our main meal was delicious and filling. The chicken was a little dry. But overall a great meal. Isla asked if we required deserts. But declined. Isla was great. Very polite and well presented and always smiling. Thank you Isla. A credit to the Harvester Team.

Popped in on the off chance for a bite to eat...we ordered off the set menu and had the baked mushrooms followed by a steak and a combo....everything was spot on and the service was excellent

Its our umpteenth time at the harvester for several occasions over many yrs , 3 family group , yesterday had a fantastic 2 course meal following my grandsons soft play 4th birthday party which also was excellent and great service , so hats off to all staff involved with that too .

Harvester ryhope is our place to go for a family meal, staff are always friendly and welcoming. Not once have we have a bad meal or a bad experience there. They have some fabulous offers on each week which are great value for money. Lisa was our sever on this particular visit and gave great service with a friendly smile!!

Went there with my daughter and father his treat. We ordered the 2 course Christmas Meal special £13.50×2 = £27. We orderef the Turkey which arrived cold with no gravy boat we sent it back to be warmed up. Which it was this time with gravy boat which you needed has the meat was very dry and the rest of the food was tasteless and dry. We had to take the meal back and leave it. Plus side was the staff where lovely. And we got our money back. And it makes you wonder how the places stays open when we where the only ones eating.

Popped in for an impromptu lunch yesterday seated promptly and staff were brilliant we ordered 2 wraps and fish finger bun all with large chips ,wraps were excellent as were the chips however my (posh)fish fingers were all batter and were soaked in fat that ran out when I bit into them and they also tasted as if the fat was over used so I had to take the batter off we would return if in the area but I would choose something else

We don't usually eat in 'chain' restaurants but it was a Friday night and the other restaurants that we tried were fully booked. Drove past the Harvester and decided to give it a try, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were professional and friendly and the food was pretty good. Salad bar had lots of options and the items were fresh. My seabass was cooked well, mash potato was a bit dry (probably because it was microwaved), coconut rice pudding was lovely. My husband had the gammon steak and syrup pudding, he said both were very tasty.

We went here for a late sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Between us we had the steak burger, grilled chicken fillet with gravy and two childrens meals one of which was fish and chips and went down very well. The inclusive salad bar was fresh and had a good selection.

We were recommended this place by a close family friend as we live in the area. It's not our usual type of place for dinner however we tried it on Friday night and were pleasantly surprised. Chain fare with frozen chips isn't my most popular choice however this place breaks the norm and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals plus the portion sizes for what we paid were brilliant. We then noticed they do breakfasts so we visited on Saturday morning and it was even better than the main meals. Breakfasts cooked fresh to order with all of the usual ingredients as well as tasty treats on the menu like pancakes, eggs Benedict and so on. The continental bar that is included in the price is fantastic and really adds to the visit. We will definitely be back and also the staff we have we have dealt with on both occasions offered different but good style of service. Really happy to visit again!

We have been coming here for breakfast for the past few months. The restaurant used to do them then stopped and restarted a while ago which we were pleased about. The breakfasts have gotten even better than before and are such great quality and the staff are really lovely and welcoming each and every time. We don't even need menus now and have a conversation each time with the ladies. Lisa and Sheila work really hard and we would happily recommend to anyone to come and try the breakfasts. They are really good value for money and great quality.

Visited Friday afternoon after work with my adult son- not busy - we were informed if we waited till 2pm - a couple of minutes- we would save 33% so happy to wait- we ordered chicken and prawns and Caribbean chicken- helped ourselves to salad so far so good- food arrived and looked fine - my son tucked into his said it was lovely- after 3/4 mouthfuls of my chicken which was covered in sauce- I discovered my next piece chicken wasn’t cooked and my son agreed- I discretely took the plate back to the bar that was empty and told the waitress to which she replied it’s only the seasoning because it was probed and checked before being sent out - she would send to be checked again- she returned to say that another was being prepared to which I replied I didn’t want another because it had put me off- she rolled her eyes at me and shouted in kitchen “she doesn’t want another one “ at no time did anyone apologise and I felt like it was my fault for not just accepting undercooked chicken - I will never go they again. As i say - no need- this is definitely not a way to treat paying customers.

Only a hand full of people inside the venue. IONA our waitress was very polite and professional throughout our visit. The food was very nice. Scampi meal for my partner and I had a Bbq stack. Only available quick visit. IONA was great. Thank you for looking after us.

For our wedding anniversary we booked a table at Harvester because we like the food there. A member of staff recognised we were a couple and sat us away from the family area which was nice because it was quite quiet. The food was very nice and excellent value for money and the service was fantastic, served by Isla. She was very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for families or couples.

Visited today for a meal with my partner. Very friendly staff. Very accessible for my wheelchair and spacious restaurant. Really like being served at the table, so much easier when in a wheelchair. Meals were really tasty & free salad with every meal was great & free soft drinks re-fill was excellent. Would highly recommend. Isla our waitress was very polite & helpful, Thankyou Isla.

we went to the soft play today for the first time. the price was reasonable at £3 each but everything you could buy was very overpriced - fruit shoot was over £2. The lady said we could buy a cup of juice for 50p, she used a bottle of robinsons and opened a cupboard to a dirty sink and added water.

Booked a table using the app as we were visiting Sunderland for the weekend. Had trouble finding the restaurant as we didn’t know the area, had to stop and ask at a garage! However got there , it was a Friday night and was very quiet! The staff were really nice and friendly. Enjoyed the free salad bar and ordered burgers, chicken stack and bird, surf and turf. As always the chargrilled flavour of the meat is delicious and that’s what brings us back. I really am not a fan of the chips, think they need to change those as they are very ordinary. My son loves the kids desserts and enjoyed the build your own cookie dish. I even scored a free bottle of cider from downloading the app so was well chuffed! Really enjoyed our meal and would recommend for all ages .

We had a late Sunday lunch here today. Pretty standard Harvester establishment. You always know what you are going to get and rarely get nasty surprises. This place is conveniently located in a small retail park on the south side of Sunderland. Plenty of easy car parking all around.

mug had not been washed and coffee turned blue,breakfast was perfectly cooked,noticed the breakfast buffet was not very appetising,seemed the only person who had standards and was working was the chef, could do with a clean.
