Ryan's Bar and Restaurant in Belfast

Great spot for an affordable, delicious meal. 2 courses for £14 is an offer that can’t be matched in most main cities. The quality of the food was fantastic. Great service, child friendly and comfortable environment. Thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely return on our next visit to Belfast.

In Ireland for the weekend and nipped in for lunch. Absolutely gorgeous food and friendly staff. It's clean, tidy and q good range of cocktails. 100% recommended. :)

Having read Ryan's owners response to my previous comment (and reading the argumentative way in which most negative comments are responded to) I would like to amend my review. By error we arrived late, although this could have been managed more professionally and less aggressive by serving staff. The members of staff in question were not polite. The following comments "I need to put you under pressure" and "Let's get you fed" were not received as polite by our family, in particular my son, who started to cry. It is clear there is a rigorous policy regarding table management but unfortunately this goes alongside a lack of quality customer service. We will not return and definitely would not recommend to others. Lovely food and value for money but service was poor with staff too concerned about getting you back out of the door. Overall it's wasn't a relaxing family experience.

Food and staff excellent, just a pity about the foul mouthed folk at the adjoining table who had no consideration for any other patrons, particularly the many young children there.

Great atmosphere as always. Lovely cocktails and were able to use aquafaba instead of egg whites to make them SFV. Great service from Tiarnan!

Great wee place, lovely grub at good prices

I have been here quite a few times and I cannot fault the food or the staff, excellent attentive staff and polite and chatty, food is always good in the few times I have been there, my review is based solely on my experience here and my review can change depending on my next time eating out here.

Great place but don't expect to be served fast. We were waiting for food for over an hour and when asking for an update the waitress was very rude and said they were just busy. The thing is though that other people who arrived 30 minutes after us got their food before us.

I was very impressed with our first visit to Ryans Bar. The staff are all so friendly and attentive, the food is amazing we really enjoyed our visit. We both had chicken wings and they were really delishious, we had the Steak Sandwich and added a side of veg we then ordered dark chocolate and pecan pie to share, we also had 2 drinks and a Cappuccino and i have to say it was worth every penny. Very reasonable prices we will definitely be back.

Had a staff meal here on Monday night.. it was beautiful and the staff were amazing Well done to everyone the service was fantastic and the drinks were flowing lol

Had the lamb worst meal ever very tough and fatty. Sorry not be back. Lamb cooked to quickly.

Przyszliśmy do restauracji po wcześniejszym obejrzeniu menu na stronie. Okazało się, że jest nieaktualne... Uważam, że restauracja powinna to poprawić. W kolejnym kroku zamówiłam drinka z menu które przyniósł nam kelner... Oczywiście "brak". Burgery suche, ale zjadliwe. Ogólnie najbardziej podobał mi się wystrój restauracji.

The staff here are absolutely lovely, they were so busy and we were a bit late for our meal due to waiting on a taxi but they accommodated us, the roasted cod with crispy leaks was lovely as was the pecan tart, £14 for 2 courses, great value for money, poor staff were run off their feet but were friendly, helpful and professional, will definitely be back, thank yous

We arrived at 3 minutes past 8 and they refused us food because it stopped at 8pm. A couple who walked in behind us were given menus and seated. The staff member who turned us away was not a bit pleasant. Ryan's have just responded to this post with a line stating "staff try to be nice when dealing with irate customers". We are not people who get irate. How dare you.

Don't bother unless you are a local or a regular. Walked in, was ignored by first few workers who saw us, then told table wasn't ready, got a drink, pourer talked to a regular while pouring, ignored for a further twenty minutes, cancelled booking and left. Had walked in pouring rain to get there and shouldn't have bothered.

Lovely restaurant with a fab atmosphere. The service was amazing as was the food and cocktails!

Arrived at 8:03pm and the food stopped at 8pm. They would not accommodate us. The refusal was not very nice either. It was obvious from our accent that we were visitors but that made no difference. A couple came in behind us and were taken to a table and handed a menu? Hopefully it was a cocktail menu but??? However they did us a favour as we found a fantastic Chinese Restaurant on Eglantine Ave. The food was fabulous and the staff pleasant and very professional.

Was in yesterday, Saturday 25th November, service was good but food was a big disappointment. Beef burger very dry and chicken burger was processed chicken and also very dry even with mayo, which we had to ask for. Not good at all.

Decent bang for your buck in Ryan's. Wish the burger had of came dressed, it was quite plain and a bit dry. Guinness was great though 👌🏼

Had a very good meal along with a decent pint. The staff were very friendly and on the ball.

We called in here on Monday evening for a family meal and we were very impressed. We had a coeliac with us and were pleased to find out they had a dedicated gluten free menu and also loads of gluten free options on the main menu. The prices were great and the food was beautiful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good priced beautiful meal in Belfast and to anyone with any food allergies or intolerances. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The bar itself was lovely and super cosy. Also if you like chicken wings this is the place to go, the wings were super crispy but also super saucy at the same time which I find it so hard to get anywhere.

Here there were helpful friendly staff, a good glass of Guinness, and a glass of Chardonnay and a tasty chicken supreme!

Seemed like a cool place but service was very poor. Waiter (11/11/2023 at 6pm) was inexperienced and couldn’t provided a basic service. I would avoid this place.

To my mind Ryan's should be better than what it is. The place is fine. But at the same time it doesn't really know what it is. Having gone a bit upmarket in food it seems to want to be more of a restaurant, but takes the bar trade all the same, until you stand in the way (i.e. drink a pint like you're in a bar) and then they try to banjo you outside. I've also eaten here and found it not the friendliest or most accommodating, again it's neither one thing nor the other to my mind.

The meal was as delicious as always here. I always get the same things but tonight the side came out wrong & had to wait for it to be replaced. It wasn'too long thankfully as our meals were sitting meantime. Thank you Chef. Buy then had to ask for salt & vinegar as none were offered. Only vinegar came.so I made do & ate my meal. Compliments, as ever to the chef. Delicious! The dessert was lovely too & as ordered. Friendly staff & not as busy as it had always been in the past but maybe we were too early. I can highly recommend the food & will be back. Was celebrating my husband's birthday as we were away at the time.

Service was slow food was good but nothing special about it.

Food: late, and not warm. Service: late, and inefficient. The waiting staff never came back after small requests were made such as a clean cup. Atmosphere: rough and rowdy. And the owner was a squat, short, rude man who jeered the female diners with the help of his long-haired lout of an employee. Your money would be better spent preparing yourself a sandwich and taking it with you than going in here to be treated badly. Also a vegetable delivery clown deliberately banged the back of a diner's chair because the place is a total dump, and deliberately rude to paying customers.

This is the nicest, best priced bar in Northern Ireland. The wings are the nicest I've ever had over 4 continents. Staff always friendly and the Guinness is superb. 11/10 6 Stars.

No idea why this is so highly rated. It was standard chain restaurant food.

We called in on an afternoon for a drink and then returned for meals on a Saturday and Sunday (we were visiting the city). The welcome was warm and friendly. Our evening meal on Saturday was nice both starters of Wings and Garlic Ciabatta were very nice. My Tempura Chicken was nice with a crispy tempura coating. My wifes chicken burger was ok but the flavour was lost amongst a strong Scirachi coating. On Sunday we had the roast beef dinner, the beef was very good and tender. We would have liked a bit more veg as the small piece of savoy cabbage and a finger each of parsnip and carrot left us wanting. The Yorkshire pudding was a bit small and pale. The Bannoffee pie was fabulous and I would have eaten another. The staff were very good, very attentive and full of chat and smiles. Having read many of the previous reviews I find it disappointing that the owner has not responded to them and has not addressed what appears to be repetitive complaints. Overall we enjoyed the bar and the atmosphere.

Undeserving of its current 4+ star rating. We came for late lunch. Ordered pint of Kilkenny and Guinness and both tasting flat Food wasn’t any better, Ryan’s beef burger and chips could not finish due to lack of flavour Beef lasagna below average also Don’t forget the dead bugs in the vinegar, how appetising Chocolate brownie was good! No complaints Service from waitress staff was great and the reason for an extra star rating

Absolutely loved it here. Popped in before flying back home. I was so gutted we didn’t get a chance to come in for dinner, from the food I saw it looked amazing. Had two of the best Long Island ice teas I’ve ever had, one was made by Ryan as reccomended by some regulars (John and Neil) and the other by the other bartnender that was on shift who had long hair, slim build. So friendly ! We sad outside in the sun and got chatting away to the locals and I didn’t want to go home! We will definitely be back! Xx

Nice bar, restaurant nice, great customer service, reasonably priced, considering the cost of living crisis and increase in food prices. It's worth a trip too.

Pretty good food but terrible service. Had to ask if we could order food, got wrong starter, had to ask again if we could order drinks, overall pretty shabby service. Food was good when the right stuff came....

Very nice restaurant-pub and very nice and welcoming waiters. Beer was very good , we took boxties as food and it was good enough but not so special , the restaurant was really crowded and it took long time to get our food. The atmosphere of the pub is amazing with its 2 floors and decorations.Toilets weren’t in good conditions unfortunately.

Food was delish and deserts amazing but waited nearly an hour for main course. Good value. Would definately recommend

Food was lovely and service was great.

Had the wings for starters which are a classic. However, wasn't very pleased with my main course. Ordered the chargrilled pork chop with thyme and garlic crushed potatoes and gravy. Thought it'll be the usual crispy crushed potatoes but it was technically just mash but with bits and lumps of un-mashed potatoes (think that was what they meant by crushed potatoes). Heavily disappointed with the pork chop though. First off, the considerably small piece of pork chop compared to the huge portion of potatoes was a let down. It seemed like I ordered mash with a side of pork chop. Second, the pork chop was overcooked. It was so tough to cut through it with the knife and even harder to chew. It was tough and dry and not at all juicy and tender as it's supposed to be. The staff were good and polite and it was crowded for a weekday, but still good vibes. They do lovely cocktails. Had the 'dark and stormy' and the strawberry daiquiri which were both delicious. They also have a good offer going - 2 courses for £14. However, I wish I could've enjoyed the main course and appreciated the offer better.

Lovely bar and good customer service.. I did have to wait for food but like I said the customer service made the difference and the food was in peck able. Would definitely recommend.

I love this place! It is such good value for money and the food was great. The staff are all so friendly and go out of their way to help. The atmosphere is always great, it's such a cosy place with a real welcoming feel.

Just finished a meal at Ryan’s on the Lisburn Road. Not at all a good experience. Service and Food Quality was abysmal… raised issue around the delays and food quality and delivery of drinks with a member of the team there, but they simply ignored it. Food was atrocious, over cooked and of a poor quality. Shall not be visiting that place again….

Ryan's have updated their menu excellently to properly cater for vegetarians, vegans, and coeliacs. Simple comfort food for the masses at reasonable prices. Bar prices are also very competitive with a great pint of Guinness and many options across local ales, premium spirits, and well made cocktails.

Called in here today after the hospital for a wee celebration. Cannot believe I haven't came before and raging I've been missing out. Great food,with a good choice. Food was of good quality. Happy friendly staff. We sat in the bar which had a great ambience. Overall fantastic. We had the most lovely experience. Everything was so Amazing. Very good service, great prices and just in case you didn't get it food is amazing. Will def visit again, highly recommend this place.

Had a meal here for the 1st time this evening, food was fab along with the service and def excellent value for money! Plus the banter at the bar when ordering drinks before hand was great craic! But the best bonus of all was the lift to the 1st floor! I, as being mobility impaired appreciated this! Will def be back at some stage 🙂

We were pleasantly surprised to find that Ryan’s Bar not only served food, but had an extensive menu, and sizeable restaurant upstairs. We ordered several different entrees in our group, and everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. Actually, we ended up going back there for our second night in Belfast! I would definitely recommend it to others!

Service was the only good thing. We got the beef and bird burger and it was like a hockey puck, chicken was stringy and not edible, I honestly never write reviews but it was just horrible unfortunately complete waste of money won’t be back ): positives was the chicken wings are 8/10. -staff nice

Decided to stop for late lunch with hubby. Food good and reasonable price. Pornstar martini was really good. Service was a little bit slow after the girl working that Sunday went on her break (my guess), and all the guys that were left got overwhelming...

Two courses for £12 including the Sunday dinner is absolutely phenomenal value for money and the quality of food is unreal, really good grub. The interior is clean, tidy and comforting. The quality of customer service from the staff is brilliant, service with a smile which makes the experience that much better. Honestly Ryan’s has been a pioneer of good food at an affordable price which is why I’m a frequent customer. FYI kids eat for £1!!!! On a Sunday. Honestly if you don’t know you absolutely need to get to know Ryan’s bar! 10/10

Went for Sunday lunch food was OK bit bland could not use the toilets as they were absolutely stinking had to ask for them to be cleaned not much differents after they were cleaned also think waitress had to clean them not a good start to the lunch

Best bar is belfast. 10/10 food and staff

This is the second time that we have been here for a meal. We were seated upstairs and the place was busy. I recommend you book a table which we did on both occasions. The meal was delicious and the service was excellent.

Great food menu, stairs are an absolute hazard, do not sit under them! A plate and cutlery fell on the stairs and the cutlery and glass flew all over that table several times

One of the best pubs I've ever been to. I only stopped in for a couple of pints and some wings, but the staff were excellent, it was the busiest pub I've seen on a Sunday without showing sport, and just felt as comfortable as being at home
