Bootleggers in Belfast

We enter through the door and they don't tell us that there is no meat left. Once we sit down, the waitress comes to tell us that there are only two pieces of meat left and the rest will have to be chicken and we say okay. A minute later, without having come to take our orders, he tells us that now there is only one piece of meat left and we tell him that it's okay if he gave us that hamburger and the rest of the chicken. Once we order, after a while he comes back and tells us that in the end there is no meat, all the burgers have to be chicken. It's very bad that in a hamburger restaurant on a Thursday with hardly any people there is no meat and after saying that there was little it ends up being that there is nothing.

Fabulous food to have on my last night in Belfast. The tacos were amazing as were the fries. Highly recommend

We came between 4 and 5 and had a very good time, the food was good and service was fast and efficient, I appreciated that someone came back to me to tell me the desperados were just put in the fridge and therefore not very cold and gave me the opportunity to change my order. Finished the meal with a very nice balanced cocktail. We'll be back !

Ideally sated in Belfast City Centre. We walked in without a booking on Paddys weekend and were warmly welcomed and served drinks whilst we waited for a table. We were seated at a lovely place in window. Restaurant is spotless Menu has the traditional favourites with many quirky additions. Food was served after a little wait which was fine. Massive portions of hot home cooked food. We weren't too bothered about scrutinising the bill as we were there to enjoy (and you can't take it with you). Waitress (dark hair with glasses) was so lovely we gave her a good tip

The toilets in this place look and smell like an actual crime scene. I laughed out loud when I walked into them, before walking straight back out. They are more akin to a scene you’d expect to see in a hard hitting drug awareness campaign rather than the toilets of a city centre bar/restaurant. The state of them has to be seen to be believed. Decided it was best to wait until I left and found a toilet elsewhere. The service was bizarre. Very standoffish with staff looking like they’d rather be anywhere else and generally not very approachable. The food (I had the Big Daddy Burger) was actually pretty decent… decent in a way where you know you’ll regret it later, but you don’t care because it’s hitting the spot. Needless to say I paid for it ten fold the following day with suspected food poisoning… who needs Ozempic when you have Bootleggers. Do you enjoy wreaking havoc on your digestive system? Do you desire to visit toilets that resemble a scene from The Walking Dead? If so, this is the place for you. If not, avoid.

Took forever to get out food. I don’t know if it has anything to do with race, but I’m Asian and two locals walked in after and ordered after me and they got their food before mine and they finished and payed before i even got my meal. This is just sad to see. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re a local.

Fun night out with friends. The food was fantastic and the service was on point! I recommend this place for people who would like to enjoy a beautiful atmosphere and great food.

This was somewhere we came three times on our visit, staff always 10/10 but when they get busy they crumble. We had to wait 45 mins for a table when they're was definitely tables available in the wait period. Really good drink, food was very nice but moreish

What's the point in asking the customer if they enjoyed their food and then not doing anything about it. I ordered the beef tacos and they were swimming in brown liquid water stuff. The bread was soaking wet and it was inedible. I couldn't eat them. The waitress came to clear my table and saw that. She asked if my food was OK and i said no, I couldn't eat it because it was so wet. I showed her and she said that's the way they come. I said "oh I didn't realise that" and she just took them away and gave me my bill with the tacos still on it. She seemed annoyed and dissmissive so, why ask? Terrible customer service

visited on a weekday evening unexpectedly, and was super impressed with our visit! the staff and environment was a real safe space, and we felt really welcome from the minute we arrived. food arrived really quickly, and was absolutely delicious - the burgers were to die for! definitely would visit again when next in Belfast!

Amazing drinks (first time I’ve actually fully enjoyed a cocktail) and the food is fantastic! I would especially recommend there mozarella sticks!! Got a sharing pitcher for drinks and amazing buffalo fries and chicken wings!

burger was good. reason for low star review was we got over charged by 2 drinks. our order was really simple, 5 Guinness, 5 burgers, but bill came with othee beers on there. When challenged the waitress she went bright red and coy. Is this a cynical way of ripping off tourists. We got the money back.

The burgers, nachos and tenders in this place are just incredible. Yeah you'll have to get over how cold the place is and don't mention the toilets, but the food.....OMG. Have to say, I ripped off all the food in this picture and recreated it for a 21st birthday. It went down a storm. Not a thing left. I need to try the rest of the menu. Soon.

A super super hipster place, the girl I went with was vegetarian and there were some options but not too many, I ate a smash burger which at the moment is the best smash I've ever eaten here, an intense braised flavor, very very Good, typical prices for the area, two dishes and some sweet potato's to share about 30 pounds, standard price but the atmosphere is super great and you are very comfortable, it was Monday and it was not very busy but I imagine it would be on a weekend HE fills a lot

Really atmospheric bar and restaurant, the bar staff came across as a little unfreindly sadly and smiles there were sadly lacking, however, the waiter was superb and welcoming and funny and the food...omg,which is what we went for..Fantastic, Chefs are magicians.. One of the best burgers ive ever had, and the Mac n Cheese is astonishing. It should be a main on its own.. Fantastic night there.

This was probably 3-3.5 rather than a 4 but I could see the potential for greatness. It has the potential to be a fair bit more than it was last night anyway. Bathrooms were run down and in real need of maintenance and makeover. Pretty cool vibe in the place though. I appreciated the gluten free options they had available. The food ingredients were very tasty. The problem was that my food was sitting waiting under the heat lamp for 10-15 minutes. We were beside the heat lamps and recognised our meal from the start. Because of this, my entire meal was just luke warm. The wedges were quite overcooked and therefore crunchy so I wouldn't recommend them. So it was a very mixed experience. Bathrooms felt a bit grotty, food was very tasty but barely even warm. I'd also appreciate a bit more clarity on what was gluten free. What will be included what won't if I order the gluten free version of this. A separate gluten free menu would be easily done and would stop a lot of going back and forth to check with chefs. We would definitely come back here but not in a hurry.

During eating food the server left the bill on the table ,then came back asking do i want to pay now while we are still eating, i hadnt asked for the bill .soon as we finished she returned with the card machine for payment. I asked her if they were busy ,she said no its quiet today,which it was . Poor service ,not good at all.

Can’t thank u enough for the lovely food we had on 7 th December 2024. Went in with my son and daughter-in-law omg the nachos n lamb was amazing enough for 4 people honey chipotle wings were massive best I’ve ever had. Spicey burger and lasagne bites were amazing 1 portion enough for 3 people even though we had to wait for a table it was worth it as they were very busy but worth it with the food was amazing will Definatly go back to bootleggers again value in Belfast again thank u

last week was my first time ever visiting bootleggers for a friends birthday and the staff especially were absolutely amazing. Britney was the name of the lady who attended to us and she has to be one of the sweetest staff I have ever met. The food was really good too but my favourite thing about the place was the lovely atmosphere and staff.

Been my go-to bar for a long time for a reason. The staff are always lovely and even in a packed house they're fast to serve you while being so unbelievably polite. They're great in terms of craft beers and have a good selection on tap, have some really nice cocktails too (their Jam Jars are dangerous, they're too good for sharing) The poutine and pulled pork are amazing food wise, the burgers are amazing too. One of the few places with a nice buffalo sauce too. Cannot recommend the place enough, my only recommendation is to steal the seats outside with heaters and order with the QR codes because you won't want to leave, it's such a good atmosphere and good craic

We found Bootleggers by chance having arrived in Belfast in the afternoon and had gone out for a wander. The staff were welcoming and we quickly got served, ordering a fried chicken burger, veggie burger & fries. All delicious. In fact we went back again on Saturday night. Everywhere we asked was booked, but Bootleggers said that if we waited 1 hour we could get a meal. It was nearer 1.5 hours but worth the wait. We had tacos this time and again delicious.

Known for burgers apparently! Carb dashian and sweet potato fries were tasty. Fries crispy not soft. Also had a sharing teacup of drinks at a good price. 20£. Porn in a teacup . Friendly servers and spacious seating with big glass windows. Enjoyed this corner very much!

Our last night in Belfast we were looking for where to eat burgers and this place was the best option we could choose. One of the best burgers I have ever eaten, delicious fries, wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. I recommend it 100%

Excellent burgers, vegetarians also have a large selection here. We were very happy and would definitely recommend the restaurant. We were very impressed with the taste. In addition, you really get a large portion for the price, a very good price-performance ratio.

The service within the place was lovely not an issue with the staff or any of the service I received. However I just felt that for the price of the food the portion size was not to its standards. The food itself however wasn’t the greatest as I felt that it lacked any flavour in comparison to when I had came before with my friends.

I ordered the fries and they were very good, hot and plentiful. The service was not the best in my opinion. We just walked in and took a seat. No one ever came to the table to take our order we ended up walking up to one of the employees who took our order. Don’t look too close to the tables and lights on the tables because you just might get turned off by the piles of dust.

Came to Belfast for a couple days and wanted somewhere different / couldn’t get back home. Bootleggers was fab, cocktails were great and displayed in a cool way & the food was gorgeous, we had tacos each and shared the chips which were more than enough. Staff were friendly & fast too

Visited during a trip to Belfast as my partner had visited before a few years ago and raved about the food here! We were put off by the recent reviews but I think these are overly critical. We had a lovely time and the staff were really attentive and the food delicious. The service was a little on the slow side but we were warned of this on arrival and we felt it was worth the wait! The only negative was that they didn't have the black pudding burger that my partner was obsessed with. We will definitely return and recommend Bootleggers to family and friends.

Slow service, average food, mistakes made with order, overpriced. I ordered a cocktail for £12 which was made up mostly of a massive ice cube nearly as big as the glass. Nice atmosphere, would maybe return for pints but not for food or cocktails!

Don’t bother coming here if you don’t want to be listened to, firstly when our order was taken I asked for no ice in my drink which is fine it can happen got given a drink with ice and I kindly asked if they ice could be removed and it seemed like such a problem? Secondly while the order was being taken I pacifically asked for no ketchup and mustard on my burger but instead add bbq sauce and the burger came Infact with ketchup and mustard! The chief and waiter are extremely lucky I don’t mind ketchup and mustard or it would’ve been sent back to get a brand new one! Thirdly my boyfriend ordered one portion of dirty fries and the waiter came out with two? I pulled the waiter who actually took our order and I asked where we ment to get two and he said he’d check the bill, after coming back and telling us they’re on the bill I explained we didn’t order them and to my surprise the look I got was as if it was my fault the waiter done it wrong? Absolutely shocking to be honest service is terrible and I don’t know whether it’s the waiter not writing down what the customers are asking for or it’s the chief being cocky giving people stuff they didn’t order because they think they know best? Honestly no clue avoid ain’t worth the hassle ! Not once not twice but three times there was something just extremely unprofessional staff need trained!

I've been a big fan of Bootleggers in Belfast for a while and have always enjoyed their tasty burgers and great atmosphere. However, I recently had an experience that left me very disappointed. I visited Bootleggers with some friends and my dog, hoping to enjoy a meal together. Since we had a dog, we were required to sit outside, which is understandable. However, the outside menu was very limited, offering only tacos, wings, and fries. When I noticed that the full menu, including their delicious burgers, was available for takeout through Just Eat, I asked if we could order directly from the restaurant instead, thinking it would save them the Just Eat commission fee. Unfortunately, the manager declined my request, explaining that if other patrons saw us eating burgers outside, they might want to do the same. Heaven forbid they might sell more burgers! I understand the logistical challenges and the need to maintain consistency, but it felt like a missed opportunity to provide better customer service and accommodate a loyal patron. Why are they willing to serve burgers for collection/delivery via Just Eat, but decline to serve full paying customers the same service seated in the outside area?? The mind boggles, my advice is give this place a wide birth and check out Bullit next door or Pablos burger joint just down the road instead.

My husband and I stopped in because we wanted to get out of the rain for a bit and it was a good experience. We each had a cocktail that we really enjoyed, and we also split an order of tator tots that we both thought was very good. The ambiance and staff were great. We would definitely go back the next time we’re in Belfast.

Orderd a £12 cocktail. Removed a 3x3 inch ice cube( ice berg) was left with a small dribble of a rubbish cocktail. I asked to speak to the manager and a young boy appeared telling me that this is the way these are made and there was £12 worth in it. Please get this guy some customer service training before he is made a manager. I won't be back. This place is designed to overcharge tourists and locals alike. £14 burger was rubbish too.

Told it would be 40 minutes for a table at 8.30pm and they took a number to text when it would be ready, left the bar at 11.45pm still waiting on that text. Staff hadn't a clue!

Fun casual restaurant and bar. Great service. Music of the 70s-80s was playing when we were there. I had the chicken grilled halloumi. Perfect with my hard cider drink.

We came here after using TripAdvisor to search for places to eat in Belfast. We were expecting good things and it’s look quite cool from the decor. The menu is quite trendy and we got a burger, wings and the Mac and cheese. The food was really awful, typical trendy but bad quality food with zero flavour. It’s not hard to make good chicken wings but they were really bad, tasted like they had been reheated. Mac and Cheese was also flavourless. We ordered a bottle of Pinot grigio and it was brought down about 20 minutes later (after we had finished our food). The wine was in an ice bucket but with no ice?? We also realized then that the wine was actually Sauvignon and not Pinot. We were not given any caps for our drinks. We asked the waiter since we paid for the bottle of wine if we could take it with us and we were told we were not allowed to lol? Yet we bought it for 24 but can’t actually take our own wine with us?? All in all very disappointing experience and not like the reviews we had seen. It’s one of those places that looks cool and is great for Instagram but the food is awful.

I went in, got one pint (hop House 13) after about 10 minutes of that I wanted a 'classic' cocktail which, fair enough wasn't on the menu. It was called a "Caiprinha" the person said they could make it without cashasa which is fair enough i was assured that bacardi would be the replacement so I wanted a nice limey fresh cocktail! I watched the person make this cocktail from start to finish. They prepared the limes and the sugar perfectly! So I was hopeful! Unfortunately when I was served the cocktail there was no Bacardi (or rum or alcohol of any sort in the drink). As i knew because i watched them making it from start to finish😞. When i asked them what happened I was immediately met with conflict! I asked if there was a possibility that they forgot to add the rum after the slightly askew "classic cocktail"?, the request was met with major hostility this time 😞! (as a cocktail bartender for 7 years) I was quite shocked by the level of denial by the bartender! Unfortunately on this occasion I had been served a drink that was only lime and sugar, which the bartender had put alot of effort into which made me happy! When I asked if there was rum (there was not) in the drink. They became completely unreasonable, and begun to ask people on the the bar ( if they believed there was alcohol in the cocktail?) Under that much pressure they just of said "yes"! This is not like any cocktail bartender I have ever known in (7 years in cocktail bars) and 13 years in total of hospitality. After this they started threatening me either I pay or I would be "chucked out" by the security staff. Unfortunately after my reasoning I was left with no choice but to pay the money for a "cocktail" that was only lime and sugar or I would have been forcefully removed 😔! I realise that this 'review' has gone on for a long time but, ever since working in this industry I have never been oppressed so hard with the opinion that I was "so wrong"! After being polite and asking if "perhaps the bacardi has been forgotten" I've never been met with such hostility and it just makes me sad. I know people who work and have worked in this place and I used to really enjoy it but now I feel like if this is the people who are working for them in the "HOSPITALITY" industry then I am so dissapointed because I've never seen this before. I do really feel sorry for the industry in general because if this small thing cannot be worked out then what can? All the best an unfortunately dissapointed customer 😔

2 visits to this restaurant. Once in the evening, 30 minutes of waiting before getting a table, 30 minutes before having food but the waitress is cool and the burger is really good. Too bad because the 2nd experience was really unprofessional and unacceptable. At 2:30 p.m., we say that we have a small dog in a fully closed bag, the waitress tells us it's possible to eat outside (ok, we're starting to get used to it in Ireland). We sit outside and no one brings us menus. We go to see a waitress inside and she gives us a different menu from the day before without a burger and much smaller. We complain saying that we would have liked burgers like yesterday and the person tells us that we shouldn't go outside, the menu is different, that's how it is... (How does eating inside or outside change anything? Where is the logic ?????) We answer that it is not our choice to eat outside and if it is possible to make an exception in order to have a burger outside. Answer “No.” In this case goodbye we are not going to eat outside in the cold and in addition not being able to eat what we want just because you do not want to make the slightest effort and without any sense of customer relations.

Great burgers. Would even go as far to say the best in Belfast. Worth every penny.

Would usually give 5 stars as we've been coming here for years and absolutely loved the tacos and nachos. However we went here recently and the Nachos have been changed, it has so much less flavour and far less cheese. Also preferred the chilli rather than pulled beef as pulled beef lacked flavour. As a regular customer would love these to go back to the original recipe please, we absolutely loved these before and bootleggers was originally our favourite place for nachos and tacos but unfortunately it was changed. Please please change these back to the previous recipe! 🤞

Unbelievably slow service. Told 45 minute wait - waited 1hr 10 minutes with no update, despite empty tables all around us. No Guinness in the bar - in Ireland! 🙈 Rude bar staff who intervened in personal conversations - told if we didn’t like the service to leave. Front of house - Orla in particular absolutely abysmal. Avoid at all costs - spend your time and money elsewhere.

Highly expensive with poor quality of food. Never had a burger worth 14 pounds! And the brownie was rock hard. Drinks were only good otherwise not worth coming.

I had went not too long ago to meet up a with a group of friends. Sat and joined my group, and didn't even order a single drink before my friend had been sick after trying to take a shot, and since I was sitting next her I got some of it on my skirt, luckily enough for me I was wearing another underneath and asked my partner if they had any bags so I could put it in one and in my bag to wash later. Plus my partner has emetophobia so he excused himself as well. We moved promptly and someone was told what had happened, when the staff member, a tall middle aged woman with brown hair wearing a bun, came over to ask what went on and who did it, my friend was embarrassed to tell her and walked off shortly after . This staff member later came back to give the rest of the ppl including me there some plastic cups and were asked to leave. No problem! We did as asked and apologised. Then she turned to me and very rudely pointed at me and accused me of doing it since my partner got the bag for me, to which I said I didn't and tried to explain the situation but couldn't before she stormed away slabbering about my boyfriend getting the bag for me and being in the bathroom etc etc. I love this place and hadn't had a bad experience before this but to be accused so rudely and talked to so disrespectfully for something I didnt cause I find totally unprofessional. I suggest checking your cameras before pointing the finger in any ones face since it was clear this staff member did it out of spite/anger. I sincerely hope bootleggers take a good look at their staff and their customer service and professionalism.
