Ryans Bar in Derby

OK city centre Irish "themed" bar with an eclectic mix of locals, pool table, plenty of seating & loud music. Looking a bit tired at the moment, the Gunness is not the best & the toilets are far from pleasant, so perhaps just go for the experience. Or, go for the live music, poetry & comedy nights when they're back on

Ok, very quiet when we went, quick service, decent prices, ok music. Bit out of the way, but OK for the odd drink.

£4 a Carling. Friendly bar staff. Pumping old school tunes. New landlord trying to make a go of it.

Another pub tucked into the side of a church. didn't have any food,but poker pies looked nice and cheap, l did go here in the afternoon, so my ratings are only two stars. I didn't find it a football pub,has l didn't notice home national flags up,only over seas ones.

Roast dinners are very nice and very cheap will definitely go again

Never again will I go here. Ripoff £ 13.60 1 pint of carling and a bottle of cider when I questioned the price just got a frowned expression. The same drinks around the Bamington £6.50 . Very poor attitude of bar staff so if you don't mind getting ripped off this is the place for you.

A very cold and un inviting atmosphere. The bar staff didn't even bother standing up to take our drinks order. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Dirty. Smelt bad. Beer was rubbish. The place wants a refurbishment. Was loud and had 10 people in and they were all very drunk. The tables looked like they done been cleaned for months. The seats were all ripped. Very disappointed. Will not go in again.

Absolutely disgusting the place is filthy the toilets are a disgrace it needs closing down..going to make a complaint to the brewery

Visited here to see where the great music had been coming from every time I walked by. First thing I noticed was how clean it was. Great management, affordable pool, very nice atomsphere!

My partner and I stopped in this bar for a quick drink whilst looking for somewhere to eat in Derby. Once we saw the plates coming out we decided to give it a go. I had Cumberland sausage and partner had liver and onions and we got both for £11.95! The food arrived and consisted of proper mash, fresh carrots, swede, broccoli, garden peas and cabbage. It was delicious and would definitely go back. It also has a big vegan menu too.

Quality bar ,service was different class ,would go again if in town, keep it up fellas.

The food is always brilliant and hot. I have never had a bad meal. I went there today and every table was occupied. This just shows that word is getting round how good the food is and reasonably priced too.

Well for starters it ain't ryans bar anymore it's now 6 barrels. Excellent range of beers and they sell my favourite beavertown neck oil and gamma ray ipa. Good music went on a Saturday around 6pm place was packed. Haven't tried the food yet

Great coffee, just right temperature Food came quickly, shepherds pie, looked home made served with veg chips and lovely gravy. Very enjoyable as was companions curry, all good No loo paper in men's toilet. Gents Loo was really clean Recommend for lunch

Dragged here again, I'm sure there must be some atmosphere when it fills up but I can't see the attraction

Really great experience I have never been there before and stumbled on it just by chance. Will certainly visit again when next in the vicinity.

Great service good guinness

Decided on the spur of the moment to go and see what Ryans was like. We weren't disappointed. Hubby had the cumberland sausage and I had the cottage pie. Both excellent and piping hot with a good selection of well cooked vegetables. Will definitely visit there again

Terrible place, to put it politely alot of undesirable people in there.

Nice and inexpensive place with the cool Irish interior. Barman recommended me steak pie and he wasn't wrong. It was yummy. Bar maybe looks hidden behind the corner but make a stop and have a refreshment during the warm days.

Have visited several times and eaten off the vegan menu, most recently today with my Mum and daughter. Had the lasagne, which was terrific, but my favourite from the vegan range is the Guinness Pie which is out-of-this-world! Lovely staff, usually quiet with some quality tunes in the background xxx

Whenever we are in Derby and we need feeding this is where we head to. Good food, realistically priced. But that is only half the story. Its the staff that make this place great! So friendly, you feel immediatly at home. Great choice of drinks too. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!!

Found this little gem of a pub by chance whilst looking for an early evening meal.Unfortunately found they stopped serving food at 3. Still was made to feel welcome and stayed for a couple of drinks.An hour later I was invited to join the staff for a meal on the house. Where else would you find a pub offering this level of hospitality? Nowhere I know. Will return to Ryans again....before 3 next time!

Friendly staff. Good food.. nothing fancy but good . Didn't have to wait long either. It's a cheap and cheerful.. not a posh nosh! But definitely would go again. 😀

Located adjacent to the magnificent St Peter's In The City Church we found Ryan's Bar and what a great find. This is a lovely Irish pub ,walking in the the bar I knew I would enjoy my visit here, great decor and furnishings abound throughout this long bar and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto beautiful church. We were here on a Thursday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff, we ordered a guinness each, guinness was poured in the correct manner even allowing for the all important settle, we just chilled out and took in the great bar we were in. The guinness served here was spot on,iced cold, thick and creamy,a nice change from the more lager style beers we had been drinking earlier on in the day. This is certainly one popular bar, on our visit the bar was just starting to get busy with a great atmosphere but with guinness this good hardly surprising really. We really enjoyed our guinness in here and the great vibe so much so that we ended up staying for another guinness each before we moved on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with this Irish Bar. Ryan's Bar is easy to locate on St Peters Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Saturday, 11am till Midnight. Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A great bar ,well worth checking out if your in the area.

I can confirm all the positives that have so far been posted to be true. Cheesey vegan lasagne better than the real cheese version, I don't know how! They need to start doing pizzas! The Chips are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The food is all freshly prepared, just like you'd do it at home, which for me, is important. No microwave meals here. Try not to be too deterred by the appearance of the building and some of the clientele, the food I ate was high end stuff. Ambience is relaxed and friendly, with staff eager to please. Definitely recommended. I would encourage all, but vegans especially, take a look at the menu I ordered from. Two meals for £10.95 has to be worth a try while in Derby.

Basic out of the way pub serving excellent home made lunches. Best value food in Derby. Don't expect posh but it's worth a visit.

I came here with a few friends at lunchtime on a Wednesday after seeing a Facebook post about a new vegan menu. We were greeted by a lovely woman at the bar who talked to us about the history of the building. We ordered the vegan lasagne, vegan pie and a vegan burger. All 3 meals came before I finished my pint of Guinness. We got talking to the staff about the local music scene and it turned out that every Wednesday the pub has an open mic night every Wednesday! We ended up staying till the pub closed and had a great time!

Absolutely gorgeous food, great to find a pub with such a great choice of vegetarian and vegan food at really reasonable prices, the vegan wellington is highly recommended! The bar staff are so friendly and make everyone feel very welcome.

Always try to pop in for food when we are in Derby , friendly staff and good freshly prepared food they do a roast dinner every day as well as steaks , baguettes and many other choices

On a day out in Derby my friend and I stopped here for something to eat. The staff were very pleasant, the bar was not crowded and the meal was great. I had the vegetarian option, there was loads,didn't need anything to eat for the rest of the day. Also great prices.

Me and hubby have been in this pub many times before, but for some reason we haven't been in for maybe a couple of years. Nothing as changed was made to feel very welcome by the barman, forget to get his name (blonde long hair tied back & wearing red checked shirt). This bloke was really friendly, and chatty even made us laugh as well. The food is excellent value all freshly cooked. A nice relaxing pub to eat your lunch.

Came in here as wanted to find an Irish pub in Derby before a gig and catch a bit of the World Cup , relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good music, will return if in Derby again

This very tiny pub.its at the back of shop and up alleyway.you wouldn't noticed its was there if didnt have board in the street.Its like steeping back in time.The lady serving friendly.she was very helpful.nothing was to much trouble.
