Rustico Neapolitan (Hailsham) in Wealden

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with my partner. Very cold day today, but the service (from Marco) and food made it a wonderful experience.

Mark was a great waiter and the food was reasonably priced and great quality

I was impressed by the atmosphere as soon as I stepped in the door. Eclectic mix of diners shows it's popular with people of all ages. A warm welcome, swift, friendly service and great food at reasonable prices means I'll be back. Thank you to all the staff. P. S. It's our second visit to Rustico in Halsham as as always the service and the food was exceptional. Marco was on top of our drinks and food order and ensured we were always taken care of. The pizza is so nice, if you wan't an authentic pizza and experience then Rustico is the place to go. We'll be back. :)

The pasta was okay, chips were dry but tasted good. For how much it all cost I was disappointed, especially paying £1 something for one cannoli just for them to be a quarter of one. They smelt delicious, but didnt taste very good.

Not enough variety of Italian pastors. Sat by the door so felt very cold.

Best pizza in Hailsham! Spent a lot of time in Italy and it is as authentic as it can get out of Italy!

Food for delivery (not dine in): Was delivered very quickly Unfortunately it was luke warm. Very disappointed with the lasagne - no white sauce, bland, the texture/visual wasn't too pleasant (mushy looking, not layered - looks like scoop and plop into a tray) and the portion size (barely childs size) for price was shocking. I thought they put one portion into two trays and was looking for the other order of lasagne. Felt like nothing special and a Tesco lasagne would have been nicer (and largr) Cheesy garlic bread was nice (would have been nicer hot) Pizza was ok - nothing more or less

Easily the best pizza I’ve ever had. Tastes so fresh - great ingredients and a proper pizza oven 👌 Lovely staff and laid back atmosphere are the icing on the cake. Come here any time I get an excuse (birthdays, family nights out etc) and it’s always perfection. Best place to eat in Hailsham by a long shot!

Order took over two hours to arrive (understandably it was New Year’s Eve) however when it did arrive I found a long hair in my pizza and the chips were soggy.

Very late food, called rustico twice after 40 then further 20 mins they were waiting for just eat to arrive, they asked if we could collect. Initially I said no we had a baby we needed to put to bed, 30 mins later still no sign of food so my partner goes to collect, try to call rustico to tell them he is on the way, instead they put the phone down on me. Turns out the food had just left the restaurant so my partner made a wasted trip. Abysmal service, will not be ordering from them again.

Delivery not dine in: The food was sightly later then stated however the main issue was cold food on delivery. I just moved so there was no way to heat the items up. The salad and beers were OK obviously it was just mains. So I called and stated this. First, was "what do you want me to do? " Second, "it was hot when I made it." (obviously) Third, I was then laughed at for some incredibly rude reason and lack of professionalism. Forth, drop the item back for a refund. (I'm semi disabled so I can't do this otherwise I'd of collected it in the first place). I got so angry on the end of this ridiculously poor and disrespectful "customer service " and no offer to just remake it and then deliver that end then exchange the items I thought....forget this amateur establishment. Absolutely awful and disrespectful service. It looked OK and I liked the single choice plant based item, but wow the service was arrogant and rubbish. Wouldn't recommend to an enemy or even my dog. Just disgusting attitude.

Had a lovely meal yesterday afternoon the food was lovely, cosy atmosphere and welcoming staff . Will definitely be going back soon.

Lovely lunch time pizza, which was delicious. Huge size so we shared one with a bowl of chips. Definitely recommend for a very authentic pizza. Will be going back.

Stopped here for a late lunch while my 2 daughters and I were riding the Cuckoo Trail from Heathfield to Hailsham and back. Really glad we did! Friendly staff, quick service and really nice (and huge) pizzas. We weren't adventurous and only had a pepperoni and 2 margheritas plus a shared mozzarella garlic bread pizza to start (also huge!), but all the food was really nice and reasonably priced compared to a lot of places these days. 3 pizzas, a big starter and 3 soft drinks came to less than £50. Suffice it to say we struggled on the ride back due to being full 😂. Very happy with our meal and will definitely be visiting again, also glad we didn't go to the local Wetherspoons as originally planned as this was so much better.

This is my favorite pizza, it's just like what you eat on the streets of Naples. The dough is amazing, light and flavorful. The ingredients are always fresh and of excellent quality. The service is great and the atmosphere super welcoming.

I had takeaway pizza and Garlic bread with cheese. Previously I didn't like the food, the pepperoni seems to taste like it's been sat on cardboard or something, awful taste, hopefully the new management have changed to a different supplier. The food I had recently was amazing!! I created my own pizza, and the garlic pizza was outstanding. So much flavour in the dough and sauce 🤤👌🏽 Definitely recommend this place.

I had the Burrata cheese, it was dreamy.

Popped in here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The prices are great at the food is appropriate for what they’re charging. It’s not going to blow your socks off, it is well worth a visit for a reasonably priced meal.

Fantastic last minute meal yesterday for my son’s birthday. Food was excellent and prompt, service was exceptional. We also ordered pizza and stracceti (spelling probably wrong!) to take away. Highly recommend.

The gluten free pasta and pizza is divine! As someone who is gluten free, it’s always a struggle to find a place who accommodates, but Rustico is amazing! Love the bolognese!

Downloaded the Rustico app to order a take-away as they said they no longer took orders over the phone. Their app lost my order which I had really struggled to put in the basket in the first place. Tried several times and was presented with a blank screen and so gave up. Their Hailsham manager told me it was more than his job was worth to take an order over the phone. I deleted the app and wont go to Rustico again. Shame because we liked their pizzas in the past and they used to be very pleasant and efficient when we phoned our order through. Why do these companies think they dont need to give personal service any more - especially in an industry that is really struggling?

The service was awful we were having a leaving meal for a work colleague and we were rushed to place orders for food, when it arrived the lasagne look like it was for a child and didn't come with any salad or sides. My colleagues pizza were burnt on the bottoms and dropping with grease. The staff was rude and did not deliver a service with a smile.

Enjoyed the food. Good choice of pizza and pasta. I had Arrabbiata rigatoni with added mozzarella.

Eaten in 3 times now and ordered takeaway at least twice if not more. Every meal has been delicious and staff/service have been great every time!

Good pizzas if you can actually get an order in. But they don't take orders over the phone so you have to go online, Which at 9pm on a Friday night allows you to go all through the process before giving you collection or delivery slots, only for the following day. Pointless waste of time! Sorry, maybe a bit harsh, but I'm working this hungry!

Ordered our for the first time here for home delivery - huge disappointment Food was due to arrive at 845 it arrived at 940 -although on the app it said it had left the restaurant at 9pm, and then the app said our food was delivered i rang the restaurant- lady extremely unhelpful pizza arrived burnt not even rustic it tasted to much like charcoal to enjoy and was extremely soggy - will not be ordering / eating here again

Slow service, order was not ready when I was text to collect, staff said head office text in certain time frame not when food is actually ready

Had another lunch here recently. Probably 5th or 6th time in the last 6 months. Service was fast and the server so friendly and welcoming. Their lunch deals are great value and though it is never heaving with people at lunchtime, the speed at which the food comes out is always consistently good. Food is tasty and plentiful.

First time at this restaurant and will definitely be back. The atmosphere lacked a little where it was so quiet but the food more than made up for it. Some of the best Italian we’ve had in a long time - rigatoni pasta was perfect and their pasta sauce was exceptional. Really good prices too.

Love the flavors. The tomato sauce is bang on. Their pizza/bread is fresh and tastes amazing. The meatballs weren’t fresh so a tad disappointed with that. Will go back for the sauce and bread though

Honestly? The best Italian-Neapolitan restaurant in the UK. The menu is 100 % pure with no bad influence whatsoever. Pizza is absolutely perfect, pure Neapolitan, dough is well done, all ingredients are very well balanced and fresh. Calzone was one of the best I ever tried. And tried a lot. Pasta is home made, al dente, bolognese sauce was light almost uplifting, made with majority of tomato reminded me about the taste of childhood full of sun. Definitely not the usual disgusting beef stew type of nonsense served in most of food poisoning facilities. Perfect. And the coffee? Just amazing. Double espresso was a real amazing experience with surprisingly changing taste during a sip from gentle sour to pleasantly bitter at the end. I couldn’t believe it. I had to have another one to confirm my initial impression. Well, service was great as well but this is something expecting if you serve food of such quality. Believe me I’m no joking if I say it’s worth to stop here on the way from London to the south even if you have to make a little diversion. 100% recommended. All of this for very low price for the highest quality.

Tried to palm us off with about 6 pieces of ff pasta each but failed to tell us before we ordered that theyd run out.

Visited today with the family and was great. Kids got to stretch there own pizza dough & make it with there own toppings etc. Service was great, would happily return. 4 of us ate here with drinks and pudding for under £60 :-)

food was okay visited on last thursday . i have visited the resturant 3 times earlier 2 was ok fully cooked and great food by ponychef but the services last time was worst not good food niether cooked proper and staf was not at good service.

Unfortunately food really wasn’t very nice, super burnt bottoms of the pizza and just in general wasn’t enjoyable. Had this pizza before for delivery and never had the issue, the server was nice and took a pizza off but we won’t be ordering again.

Such good food and amazing delivery service

Delivery time was over an hour late, and food was lukewarm at best when it finally arrived, unacceptable.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. We have walked past countless times but never been in. Decided to have a spot of lunch and taking advantage of their Lunch special. Good food and great value for money. Just wish they would share their Pizza sauce recipe with us, :) Good work.

My fiance and I ordered a pizza and lasagne to share as we've never eaten from here before. I have to say the lasagne was atrocious. There was no white sauce whatsoever and it was dry and just slopped into the container. The pizza was ok but nothing special really. Very disappointed

I am so surprised at how disgusting the food was tonight. We tried a new pizza and a usual one and they were absolutely awful. I can’t believe how awful our experience has been. Never again and again am sorry you provided such awful food.

Had a wonderful take away from Rustico last night. Both pizzas were perfect and ready for collection on time. We had an issue with the app during ordering but the staff were wonderful in addressing our concerns and sorting the problem out the next day. Excellent customer services and terrific food!!

Decent example of the chain. Had pizza and garlic bread, cup of tea. All decent. Not much more to say really!

Ordered my food at 8:40pm, order was accepted, waited and waited until 10pm, for it not to turn up. Accepted the order, took my money then closed the restaurant and didn’t deliver the food. Absolutely disgusting.

Great experience, funky setting with memorabilia everywhere. Service was friendly and helpful. Food arrived quickly and freshly cooked. Bill was £52 for four people, 4 mains, 5 drinks, 1 coffee, 2 puds, so very reasonable. Perfect for meeting up after work and will definitely be back.

Terrible … we’re vegan and someone made a mistake in forgetting to choose vegan cheese when ordering When the pizzas came I could tell.. so I called them right away to confirm if the pizzas has vegan cheese or not and was told they were all VEGAN. So four vegans consumed a DAIRY cheese pizza because of being told that. I felt I’ll the next morning so I called to tripple check with the kitchen and was told actually they were all in fact DAIRY .. they offered a pitiful 10% off as an apology…. Which is a total joke considering I’d any of us were allergic to dairy we could have died

We love Rustico for informal and tasty dining in a friendly and happy atmosphere. The pizza is great and always freshly cooked and all the staff are cheerful and friendly. We've been served several times by Evie - she's great. If we have 1 small criticism, which explains the 4 food stars, we think they use more salt than is ideal for us but certainly doesn't put us off. And it's only a 2 minute walk from home. :)
