Visited for live music on a Saturday night. The band were blasting out a little too loud but the atmosphere was great and the place was buzzing. Staff very friendly.

Went in with friends for my daughters hen party & were made to feel very welcome by the staff, they even sent complimentary glasses of prosecco for our party, we all had a lovely time, highly recommended

Ruskin's seems to be the place to get a late night drink in Kendal. There is a pool table as well as a quieter bar where you can just sit and have a drink. I didn't eat so can't comment on the food. The main problem with the pub is the access which is up a steep flight of stairs. Depending on how much you've had to drink I would be very careful when leaving the premises because a trip down the stairs could cause serious injury.

We are sitting in Ruskins enjoying a quiet drink overlooking the main street of Kendal Ruskins has two bars - on one side it's a small cosy wine bar type area,on the other is a bar area with a pool table and a place to get together, and has a digital jukebox too Ruskins has a lovely atmosphere. It plays a good mixture of background music. There is sometimes a band playing in the place too which is great Good variety of alcoholic drinks and at very good prices ..... a large Baileys is only £2.50, pint of lemonade just £2.00 (as at 11th January 2016) We come here regularly just to chill and relax The staff are friendly and helpful Very highly recommend!

It's always worth popping in here when out for the evening. They often have live music and open mic evenings, it's got a good ambiance.

This is a bright, friendly place for a night out. There is great food and drink to be had, music, games tables and a lot more besides. Popular with all age groups.

We visited quite early on a Saturday night, so it was quiet. Nice decor, with local artists paintings on the wall. Was a nice atmosphere.

One of my favourite little hang outs on an evening in town. I love that they have a duke box so you play your own music. it has a pool table, and two separate rooms..so when the 'kids' come in, you can easily find yourself in the other room and chill listening to the live music which is regularly on most days of the week. cheap beer and friendly staff, not to mention a cool, chilled out atmosphere...what more could you want!! :P

This is a great little place to go on a night out. Great atmosphere. There is a jukebox and pool table available or a quieter area at the front if you prefer. Good range of drinks available and some offers on cocktails and lagers.

The title refers to another favoured spot in the southern Lake District, but I guess the eponymous art critic would be well pleased with this latest attraction to bear his name. Situated over a row of shops, in the centre of town, the rooms have been tastefully upgraded to provide a bright and relaxing retreat throughout the day. Especially popular with the younger set in the evening.

My fiancé and I decided to go here for a quick bite to eat one afternoon. We walked into a place where the staff didn't seem to care nor want to serve me. When the food arrived it was not nice at all as it was cold! I don't like complainers myself, but when I politely confronted the member of staff he acted uninterested. Unfortunate.

We visited here for a coffee and cake. We enjoyed great home made scones that had been baked fresh that day - scrummy. Friendly staff, good lunchtime atmosphere.

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food was lovely and good value for money. We sat outside which is a great little sun trap for those rare sunny days in the Lake District. We would high recommend and we will definitely be back .

We have been here many times over the years and love it. Dropped in for a drink last week. Wooooah! £9.80 for a Prosecco and a pint of cider shandy is the same price as a pint of cider - about £7. So by that maybe a pint of lemonade is also £7? I’m sure many people stop for a drink while walking in the beautiful lakes but next time we might find another stopping point. Although living in the North East maybe we just have cheaper pubs up here??!!

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
