Rumour Has It in Sunderland

Booked a table for 8 for a 50th wedding anniversary meal. Great food, attentive friendly staff. Fantastic evening and we were well looked after. Food was amazing as always.

We visited on Saturday for the second time. We ordered from the Valentine's Menu. 2 starters and 2 mains. The scotch egg and the spring roll starter were lovely. For main, we had a fillet steak and the burger. These were also lovely and the portion size was excellent, it's great value for money. Service was great despite the staff being busy. Only minor comment was there was no dessert left on the Valentine's Menu, not a big deal as we were offered dessert from the main menu but there wasn't really anything we fancied. We will be back again soon, one of the nicest places to eat in Sunderland at the moment.

Absolutely beautiful food. Staff really friendly, and service was really good. My husband loved the chicken wellington. We will be back.

First visit to this restaurant and won’t be the last . Easy to book online , the menu had a varied selection and we tried each others as they were so good including the jam roll poly !! Service was great and all reasonably priced. Would recommend and within town centre for each access .

Having heard various recommendations about Rumour Has It we went today & weren’t disappointed. My wife had the duck spring roll & I the mushroom bruschetta both were excellent, followed by the steak & ale pie & Cajun buttermilk chicken burger again both were so tasty. The surroundings & service were great & after 2 courses each & a bottle of Prosecco the price was a very reasonable £60. We will definitely be back 👍👌

the food is up there with the best in sunderland, got steaks that they don't even advertise on the menu and they were amazing.

Spot of lunch ! When we booked did not realise was a xmas menu very limited choice I asked if there was another menu was told chef would cook steak other wise that was it we went for fish &chips disappointed about 7 fat chips fish tasteless batter soggy very bland daughter had a burger and fries again nothing to write home about left disappointed would not return I feel better places to visit

Ordered lunch for both my work colleague and myself for collection. What a beautiful restaurant, very elegantly done out to a very high standard. We ordered scotch eggs for starter and turkey ciabatta for main meal with roast potatoes and beef gravy, wow what can I say other that it went down a treat! We both ate every bit, top notch food! Can’t wait to try the restaurant out.

This was my fourth visit since restaurant opened, never been disappointed. Food, service and ambience all great! This visit we enjoyed the Festive menu - just wow! Game terrine to start then beef cheeks with accompaniments all delicious! The terrine was firm and tasty, the beef cheeks just melted in your mouth. All washed down with a reasonably priced bottle of Merlot. Great addition to the Sunderland vibe. Need to plan our next visit! Have recommended this to several friends.

We enjoyed it very much Polite serving staff, you could look into the kitchen ,brie starter little bit under done Burger was class Well done we will be back Cracking tunes on in the background

Nice place and service was good. Staff helpful and friendly. We went to try the food which we found disappointing. Fatty meat that we felt was substandard on two dishes. One was ok. Wouldn't rush back.

Not expecting something this good in the centre of Sunderland. Open kitchen to watch, good service, mussels starter in a superb tomato sauce, and I'm fussy! Home made burger that I dont usually order was really good, as were the home made chips. Recommended, will go again.

The venue looks amazing, and the food was incredible A couple of minor issues; the starters arrived at the table before the wine. After the main course the table was cleared but after waiting 20 minutes no one offered us dessert. Can't fault the kitchen as the food was amazing and good value for money. We will definitely return and fingers crossed next time we get a chance to try desserts
