Rudy's Neapolitan Pizza - Ancoats in Manchester

First time visiting this weekend and we were served by a very hostile and unapologetic waiter. He was belittling and did not explain the seating arrangements kindly. Instead he took the opportunity to give us a telling off and make us feel awkward for not ordering food straight away when we were ordering drinks. We left with no apology from him, quite shocked with the experience

piss take with using heavy machinery at 1/2am while there’s hundreds of residential flats closely surrounding, in what world should a venue be carrying out work at this time in the morning, get a grip

Third time now in a row of issues with noise with you guys.. who the hell is cutting through metal using power tools at 1:34am in the morning?! Last week it was the front being jet washed at 4am. Absolute joke.

Great pizza, but it was busy the two times I went there. Ended up getting take out which was still delicious.

Fantastic pizzas, one of the best I’ve had. I especially loved the garlic cheesy bread and the Gorgonzola & Capocollo pizza. The hint of rosemary and the honey coated walnuts added such a great touch. It is also located off such a cute courtyard in Ancoats. It is small but worth the visit. The staff are very friendly too.

Pizza are all delicious. It’s the best Pizza I have ever had. Very busy at Saturday afternoon @1:00PM. Price is cheap. Not luxury look of inside. The inner dinning room do not have any window. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Recommend triple pepperoni. Hardly to find car park. Will definitely come back to try more flavors. Thanks for open a such delicious reasonable price restaurant.

Easily the best pizza in the city, Rudy’s never disappoints when we pass through Manchester. This time, we lived the Gorgonzola and Capocollo pizza, which had just a magical blend of mozerella, hints of Gorgonzola, a light honey glaze, olives and amazingly toasted walnuts. The cheesy garlic pizza is also beautifully done, with just enough garlic to punch through without being overpowering.

I haven’t been to Italy yet, but my experience here felt like a taste of it. 😋 From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warmest smile, and the staff who took our order & served us were just as friendly. The restaurant’s aesthetic is charming, with four "chalkwalls" showcasing the menu and petite wooden chairs that create a cozy atmosphere that felt like an Italian nona's kitchen on a Sunday evening. I would have loved to try the garlic bread, but didn't because it was just a small group, and we didn’t want to overindulge. The pizza, however, was the star of the show—and it did not disappoint. The dough was incredibly fluffy, like a pancake, and the toppings were exactly as I’d hoped they’d be. I’m already looking forward to trying the dessert menu on my next visit! We enjoyed: 🍕 Almost Lasagne 🍕 Triple Pepperoni 🫒 Nocellara Sicilian Olives 🍹 Hugo Spritz 🍹 Rudy's House Lemonade Highly recommend this spot for an authentic taste of Italy! 🇮🇹🍕🥗🍷 Also, lleaving a cash tip is a great way to show your appreciation for the hardworking team, they really value it! Some of the best Pizza we have had in a while! We ordered the Triple Pepperoni and the Almost Lasagne which was one of the specials. They were both really delicious, definitely would recommend. I would also recommend the Blood Orangecello Mimosa. Service was excellent as well, very friendly and fast!

I recently visited the Ancoats branch of Rudy's Pizza Napoletana with my husband for the first time, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. We arrived around 4 pm on a Saturday when the restaurant was busy but not packed, as there were clearly some empty tables available. Despite this, we were the only ones waiting to be seated, standing at the entrance for about 5 minutes before another couple joined us. What followed was a frustrating 10 minutes during which multiple staff members walked past us without so much as a glance. None of them seemed occupied with anything of importance—they were just wandering around the restaurant while only one staff member appeared to be actively serving food. The couple behind us eventually left, commenting on the slow service. At this point, we had been standing there for 15 minutes without being acknowledged. Finally, a man came over and seated us at the back of the restaurant, where there were even more available seats. We were placed near the bar, and there were two staff members in this area: a man behind the bar preparing drinks and a woman serving customers. After a few minutes, we were ready to order, but once again, no one approached us. I tried to catch the attention of the staff, but they avoided eye contact. When the female staff member came to the bar to get some drinks, I asked if she could take our order. Her response was shockingly rude: she snapped, “I can’t take your order right now, can you give me a few minutes? I need to serve these drinks,” with a lot of attitude. I was stunned and just said, “Okay.” The man behind the bar, noticing the awkward tension, immediately offered to take our order. The female staff member then realised her mistake and half-heartedly apologised, saying he would take our order instead. As someone who has worked in customer service, I understand how busy it can get, and I wasn’t demanding that she take our order right then and there. I just wanted her to know we were ready so she could come to us when she had a moment. Her reaction was uncalled for and made the whole situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. The rest of the service didn’t improve much. It took forever to get the bill, and we were left sitting there, waiting to pay, feeling completely ignored. Eventually, my husband had to flag down the same man who had seated us to ask for the bill. What should have been a lovely meal with my husband turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience due to the lack of basic customer service. The staff needs serious training on how to handle busy periods without ignoring customers or responding rudely. We won't make the mistake of returning to this branch again.

All of the toppings were thrown in the centre of the pizza so we had to space it out when it arrived. I've only been once before but it was very disappointing this time around.

We were walk ins at Rudys and excited to try these Pizzas! . I ordered triple pepperoni. The pizza came looking good but very cold in the middle as if it didn’t cook. We sent this back, only to find the next pizza was exactly the same. Also the mozzarella wasn’t really cooked either. I understand the middle can be soft but not raw. We refused to pay and they did accept this.

Pizza was cold in the middle sent back twice unfortunately, what i found was 1 star is when asking how long the bill would be i was asked did i not like that either. One waitress was absolutely amazing very apologetic and very nice hats off to her this place was not for me

It was great to be able to sit outside in the mild but dull weather. Service was attentive and pleasant. Two of us went for the specials this month (nerano and calabrese con melanzana) and the third for the carpriccosa. We tried some of each other's and all appreciated the quality ingredients and fresh tastes. Dips for the crusts were also a nice idea. Rosé wine was pleasant and the primitivo excellent. There is also plenty of room to sit inside with the dining area being deceptively large. We didn't rack up too big a bill, so it was good value for a Saturday lunch out in Manchester.

Food was lovely. The lady that greeted us and took our order was lovely. However the man in the fake palm angles top was awful. This man kept coming over before we were done and tried to brush us out. He was also slamming plates around .He shouted at my friend “How much would you like to pay” after she told him the amount. He then continued to shout “I Am SpEAking EngLiSH” then proceeded to spell out the work “English” when he didn’t understand her. He then realised he was being rude and apologised and offered us 3 lemon cello shots. He didn’t bring them over until we had our coats on. Then as my friend was doing his shoe lace he rudely told him to get his shoe of “his chair” before quickly brushing us off. The whole meal felt under pressure

Quick service probably busier on weekends, the food was lovely and the chubby guy was friendly and talkative, a must if you love Neapolitan pizza!

Wanted to pop on here as we frequent this restaurant often and it’s somewhere our family always go. It just never disappoints! Big compliments to the staff they are always very welcoming and accommodating.

Managed to get a table in peak time on a Saturday. Great service despite business. Food and drink served really quickly which was a bonus as we were in a rush. Pizza was superb. Some interesting options and classics on the menu perfect for all palates.

My first time at Rudy’s, was super excited to try - love pizza and was going with friends who are a big fan of another branch elsewhere. Service started out great, we were sat outside and our orders were taken quickly despite this by a friendly waitress named Inez (I think!). Drinks came back immediately and pizza was no more than 10 minutes later which we were pleased with. The pizza looked fab and for the most part tasted amazing too, the burrata on top was lovely. It was just a bit oily and then liquidy with the honey, which was also a bit odd but my own fault for not reading the pepperoni pizza description properly. The only thing forgotten was my friend’s dip but this was brought as soon as we told the waitress. It began to bucket it down with rain but our waitress was quick to come out and put down the umbrella which we appreciated. Later I nipped in to use the loo and walked in that direction, before being called back by the hostess and questioned whether I was a customer. I can’t describe it but something was just super off about this interaction, the hostess asked where I was going and I replied to say the toilets - the look she gave me back was like I’d killed someone which I thought was really weird, but she quickly clarified I was sat outside and let me pass. Once the rain got too bad for the covers to handle we asked the hostess if we could move inside for drinks and maybe dessert. I think they had some reservations so it took a while to see whether this would be possible but we were eventually sat and ordered a drink and a dessert. Again, it was so strange - we were sat (she gave us an eye roll as we were sitting down) and ordered immediately but the hostess went aside and was throwing some crazy dirty looks and gesturing a waitress over in a hushed manner. I think she was annoyed by us wanting to wait until the rain was better to leave but we’d just spent 50 quid on pizza and were ordering more food and drinks so I didn’t think this would be a problem. Anyway, dessert came and unfortunately had a hair in it (we were desperate at this point to avoid any further interaction after my friends had pointed out some looks she’d given behind each other’s backs as well) but we found another super friendly waitress who replaced it for my friend with a fresh one as well as deducting it from the bill - above and beyond because my friend was more than willing to pay. I can’t think of anything we’d done wrong, my friends and I have worked at the same restaurant together for years and have had our fair share of annoying customers but we’ve never handled anything like this woman did, especially given we’d done nothing annoying as far as I knew. It was just so odd, very uncomfortable but in summary - won’t be back and shall be sticking to the regular branch which is a shame cause this spot was super cute and the other staff looked so friendly.

What a gorgeous pizza in a lovely setting with fabulous customer service. The family all ordered pizzas and starter and as it was out first time we were also given complimentary dips (not something I’d tried before but I’m converted). Sabrina was a fabulous waitress, friendly, smiley and attentive. Brilliant customer service. The lighting and ambience was fantastic and the pizza…yum!!!!!! Really well cooked with beautifully sourced ingredients (the mozzarella they use is just gorgeous!!!!!)

Last night we headed to Ancoats for dinner, which was voted one of the “coolest neighborhoods in the world” by Timeout Magazine. Once an industrial area, Ancoats was the center of textile manufacturing and newspaper printing. It was also a dangerous area; several gangs were in full force until the 1980s. These once-abandoned buildings have now been converted to beautiful apartments and the neighborhood is filled with lots of trendy shops and restaurants. We decided to try Rudy’s for pizza (they have a real pizzaiola from Napoli). I had the Calabrese pie (Vesuvian tomato sauce, with Grana Padano, fior di latte, roast eggplant, caramelized red onion, ‘nduja and basil). My friend had the Nerano (roasted zucchini with fior di latte, sundried tomatoes, fresh mint, pine nuts + coal-smoked Scamorza shavings). Both were very good and the service was terrific!

The food was lovely, and came very quickly! Staff didn't smile, don't know if we caught them on an off day but it felt like they just wanted us out asap

Some of my favourite pizza in Manchester - the service when it comes to walk-ins is so hit and miss though. Sometimes you’re met with the absolute nicest people and other times getting a booking in is a weirdly hostile, it is a busy place so I can understand you get a lot of people who want a table asap, but it seems to get projected onto people who are happy to wait.

My family came here last night and it was honestly phenomenal! we had the most amazing waiter (i forgot to get his name) but he was super friendly and really went above and beyond. The food was really really good and the drinks were excellent. My family really appreciate the service we had last night

Absolutely loved our experience here and nothing could fault it. My pizza actually went cold due to my baby wanting to sleep and the Rudy's staff were so accommodating despite it being our problem not theirs! Service and food are top notch you won't regret it!

I revised this pizza place recently as I was very pleased with the service and quality of the pizza the first time. Thankfully the standards are the same! Possibly the best pizza I've had. It is just about wheelchair accessible and the staff didn't bat an eyelid when we managed to squeeze through the door on one. There's outdoor seating to which is a lot more accessible. Best to book in advance as it's very popular, but I did manage to get seated as a walk in the first time.

The lady serving me today at Lunch was acting really strange and off. Thought it was just me so left it, but my friend came out and said the exact same thing without me saying anything. Normally you get top service but felt really weird. Especially when we ordered for Takeaway, and when we got handed our food, another person gave it and said we couldn’t eat in, as if we didn’t order takeaway? Very confusing experience.

I don’t understand why you don’t slice the pizza for takeout, I had to rip the pizza in my car and it was just too messy otherwise it was really nice

First time ordering the pizza are very tasty and the ingredients too very nice only thing was the chilli dips wasn't in the bag even though I'd been changed for it.

We were served by Joanna and she was amazing, she was attentive, efficient, chatty and served with a smile. The pizza was as amazing as always, they do the best aperol I have had in Manchester and the desserts were lovely too!

To the owners of Ruby's.....pizzas are amazing but your Ancoats staff members are a disgrace and simply put a major slur to your establishment name, thus ruined our lunch. Staff members should provide their customers with a pleasant dining experience, not a rude, unwelcoming, obnoxious unfriendly continuous behaviour from start to finish. To conclude our lunch when our bill came, we decided not to leave a tip. We usually would ONLY IF a reasonable service has been given, but of course we never.....but to have blatant in your face, and behind your back as we walked out of why we never left a tip, is bordering on a pursuit of physical, emotional blackmail and against any hospitality quality standards. APPALLING You need to IMMEDIATELY address to improve employee training and communication, regardless of how good the food is. Worst experience. The staff were extremely rude and dismissive when a table was requested it was not even busy plenty of empty tables the manager scoffed rolled her eyes at the request of a table which is NOT the greeting you want, the manager was so rude. awful customer service do not come here plenty of other rudy’s in manchester you will just be disappointed, there was 1 member of staff who didn't have a disgusting attitude, she was new and very attentive. plenty of nicer places to eat in the area absolutely disgusting service over all , staff need an attitude lesson . would not come back .

We were visiting Manchester from Scotland so weren’t familiar with the area but when walking by we noticed Rudys was busy. We got a last minute table and the food was unreal. We are well travelled and real authentic pizza is a firm favourite and I can honestly say this is one of the best we have had. Amazing value. I didn’t get our servers name. Young boy with blonde hair. He was so helpful and made sure all our needs were met. I only wish we lived closer as we would definitely be back soon if we did. Highly recommend.

Rude staff who dont know anything quote nonexistent rules about outside areas and use. Council and fire service about use of external tables. Not educating your staff may have inviting more trouble than you want. Mark the guy in the wheelchair

I walked into this place not knowing anything about it. I was absolutely impressed with everything from the service to the food and the ambiance! There are many pizza choices, all delicious-sounding. My pizza arrived in a matter of minutes, and it was an excellent size! The base was thin and light, and they put just the right amount of toppings on it. The servers were all really efficient and looked like absolute pros. I was greeted warmly and invited to leave feedback through a business card before I left. I was seriously blown away by the quality of this establishment in an age of poor service and small portions, and they didn't even add gratuity to the bill! Congratulations to the staff and management at Rudy's; you are doing an excellent job and have swiftly become my favourite pizza joint!

What a shame we couldn't dine in as the atmosphere looked buzzing. We came too late as kitchen was about to close decided on a takeaway which was delicious. The young lady who took our order was fantastic, great recommendations and perfect service even though we weren't eating in. Busy Friday night but the couldn't have done any more to make us happy customers.
