Ruby’s Indian Restaurant Bishop’s Stortford in East Hertfordshire

Waited over 2.5 hours for a delivery,every time we called they said 20mins . Terrible service,won’t be using them again .

deffo won't be ordering again cartons are only half full and ordered a cheese naan but got a plain naan and it was cold

Arrived earlier than expected. Great communication from the driver trying to find my house and food was delicious.

Ok but a bit bland. But 3.75 for a single roti? Same for a chapatti? Crazy prices for a takeaway. Portions v small too.

Hopeless no good food no good staff

Salaam/hi I am staying nearby for work and I ordered a takeout from here. After confirming over the phone all the food is halal I ordered a mix grill with biryani and a naan bread. The food was actually delicious, fresh not overly spicy and also really good portions for the price. And delivery time was accurate as well! After a days fast it satisfied all my cravings and not only that they also threw in a vegetable curry on the house for me which was really tasty especially with the garlic naan bread I ordered. I have eaten from pretty much all the local Indian/Bangladeshi takeaways in this area and this is definitely the best one in the locality. Definitely will order again!! Thank you!

All of the dishes were really good, came in good time. Would definitely order from here again.

3rd time ordering first two was brilliant tonight was disappointing food was half hour late came cold and food was stale.

Food at both Rubys restaurant and takeaway is always incredible. However, the service was slow and one of the waiters came across a tad rude/inappropriate towards the girls in our group. We had a large group of 10 and the food came in good time baring in mind there so many many of us. The service wasn’t ideal but the food was incredible and overall price was very good.

Food was very tasty, however the lamb was quite tough and fatty.

First time I’ve ordered from here and I was v impressed. My Celon curry was actually hot ( chilli) for once! The rest was v tasty too. Would definitely order from here again.

I ordered at 6.10pm and food was delivered at 8.45pm. The food was cold especially the chips. And when I spoke to Ruby they weren’t understanding. Their excuse was that they were busy then closed the phone to my face. Definitely won’t be ordering from them again

Great food, plenty of space between tables, good menu options. Pleasant background music and good service. Parking on opposite side of junction. Clean & stylish bathroom.

Just realised I normally order from the other Ruby’s restaurant, so a bit disappointing.

I feel like I’ve had better tasting Indian food for less money. It was nice but meh 🤷‍♀️

Expected a little onion salad or sauce with the poppadoms And the curry sauces were milder than anticipated. Otherwise good

Been here a few times now and they never disappoint. Absolutely love the poppadoms and naans, and I thoroughly enjoyed the butter chicken this time. Best Indian in bishops stortford!

The tikka masala is was not the redish colour we are used to, had a little spice that was unusual as it’s only meant to have a small tang. The Passanda was very watery and kind of bland. The lamb chops were nice and tender but need more of a tandoori seasoning. The sheek looked nice the onion baji’s always good and naans good.

Welcoming atmosphere and staff always try their very best and happy to customise the dish according to your taste.

We ordered a takeaway from here. I have coeliac disease and when I rang up to enquire about gluten free I was advised most of the menu was gluten free! Really enjoyed it, all good quality, will definitely return.

I regularly order a takeaway away from Newton Rd, I normally order the same item Tandoori chicken tikka off the Bone. I ordered tonight my food came but the chicken didn't look the same. So I called them and was advised I had been sent the correct item but they were cutting down on food colouring it now apparently looks more like Nandos chicken was the exact words the gentleman told me over the phone (if I had wanted Nandos I would have ordered it). They must have cut out more than colouring as the chicken was bland not nice at all. Really disappointed. Doubt I'll order again.

I wish I could give 0 star for quality & taste.. so disappointing . It was my mom dad’s wedding anniversary and it ruined because of such a food that taste horrible. I ordered paneer it was so hard and no flavour at all. Loads of sugar no spices and quality was also so bad. We ordered starter , mains it was really really pathetic. I would suggest chef pls stop cooking the food or take cooking classes, it was really embarrassing for me to serve this food to my guests.

Was here 2yrs ago and back again. The food is amazing, the staff are brilliant. This is probably one of the best Indian restaurant I've been to. Will definitely be back.

Good food which was very nice, good range of options, including vegetarian and vegan, and spicing just right. Excellent delivery service where they called ahead of time so that I could meet them at reception of Novotel Stanstead.

My family and me pass through Bishop's Stortford 2 or 3 times every year, usually as a final night before catching an early flight at Stansted the next day. We've made it a tradition to get a takeaway from Rubys and the place never disappoints. The food is high quality and generous and we've not had a bad meal yet. It would be nice if we could ask for disposable cutlery or plates because we've had to improvise for our hotel situation but the food itself is lovely.

First time with my fiancé here. It was absolutely lovely. The gentleman who looked after us was kind and attentive. The place is clean and beautiful. The food is great and came quickly. Only downfall was that we couldn't a cocktail! But we will be back when the cocktail connoisseur is back in town!:)

40 mins late food not worth the wait. All I got told is they are busy. Yeah busy periods do happen I would recommend another restaurant in the town as this one can’t handle a meal!

The pathia was HOT HOT HOT, nice but a little to hot to expect . The sag paneer was very good. Lovely rice. I pre-ordered, at 7, for 8.30 and it came at 8.44. Food hot. Overall- we would eat it again.

Tried and disliked a few Indians in Stortford, but this was the best!

Very good curry, I would say one of the best I have had. It may not be the cheapest however the portion sizes are very good in terms of the amount of meat you get. My only issue was the large group of men who were rather loud but that is hardly the restaurants fault. Would return, would recommend.

The owner is really nice, always remembers you and has a good chat. Love the lamb chops.

The Sikiri Raan Alexander the Great Lamb was absolutely delicious. Delivery was timely and well packaged. So glad I went for this instead of the hotel restaurant.

Absolutely great experience! We came here for an anniversary dinner and had a great meal. Asked the waiter for recommendations and he was really helpful. I was annoying about changing my drinks order several times but the waiter was very kind and understanding. The food and flavours were brilliant and we really enjoyed trying new dishes we had never heard of 5stars!!!

Nice dinner and delivery was quick

Good ambience and good service unfortunately for us the food was not up to standard , and rather expensive £7 for a side dish of Bombay aloo & mushroom Bahji pint of draught kingfisher £7.00 Total bill with. Tip came to £113.50 for two people.

Everything was delicious and the bartender was also very kind and helpful. He helped us book a taxi and gave us directions and advice for getting around town

Have visited this restaurant a few times and every time is an enjoyable experience. The staff are super friendly, attentive and polite. And the food is incredible no matter what you order, but my fave is their chicken tikka masala, it is delicious. Thank you Rubys :)

Fantastic food, great service, with the low ceiling very 'loud' in their with a couple of big groups but didn't distract from being a fab restaurant

Best takeaway ever every time it’s amazing! An the delivery was the quickest delivery ever I have never got a delivery any quicker I’m so shocked! Best lamb Ceylon if I could give higher than 5 stars I would 🙌🏻 Best food, service an staff💖 worth every penny ignore any bad reviews clearly they don’t know what a good curry is! The meat is just unreal!

Very bland food absolutely no flavour one of the waiters was incredibly rude and caught him eating rice with his fingers in the corner of the restaurant where we was sitting he also tried to state that he gave us the correct nahn bread when you could clearly see it wasn’t told us to bite it to which it wasn’t what we asked for he then placed it further down the table to the person who did order it with already bites taken out of it , terrible experience!

The food was excellent quality as usual, but cold. It was delivered an hour and a quarter after the requested time and an hour after the restaurant’s estimated delivery time.

Awful experience last night had table Booked for 7 15 food was late the waiter was very pleasant tho when food arrived it was good but the wait was ridiculous, the worse bit was at the end a young waiter come with the bill it was 150 so my friend paid 80 and I said I’d match that paying by card ( giving them a undeserved tip ) and the young waiter sighed I said are you really sighing mate ? He didn’t respond sorry if paying by card and giving you a tip is really rude walked out feeling like I wish I paid nothing ! … not happy with customer service it was like we re in the corner and nobody will come to you won’t be going back , been getting the takeaway from rubys for years no problem but won’t be going to the restaurant again

Terrible. Food was late. Called the restaurant and the staff were really rude and argumentative. No apologies and just blamed the app/JustEat. Much friendlier / better Indian food places in the local area! Don’t eat here if you want decent service.

We celebrated our birthday here. I liked everything. The desserts were delicious. The hot stuff was really hot.

Moved here and visited all the local Indians as we love to visit an Indian restaurant regularly- this one is horrendous, don't bother. The food is bland, the place was empty when we went in. Very Expensive. Happy to pay higher prices when the meal is good. But this wasn't even worth paying cheap for. Bad to the point where I'd have prefered one of those Indian boxes from a supermarket. Felt totally ripped off and will never use again.

Good Indian food, will love to have again.
