Nice village pub with modern interior and spacious garden. Food and drinks priced as expected and good quality. Service very quick and friendly!

What a great place... The very well stocked wine store with the glass viewing window is a nice addition to the already Beautiful decor. This is a very homely pub with extending beer garden... Great place for the kids to play. Keira and Dan looked after me during my visit, both very friendly and helpful The college arms looks great and well worth a visit. 😎

Wonderful venue for families, couples to eat, or for a drink. The food was divine, and the service was friendly and attentive. I had my granddaughter with me and they were so lovely with her. The children's menu is amazing, with huge portions. For us, the adults, the menu was varied and delicious. They have a garden seating area for warmer weather.

Had a table booked for 4pm, arrived at 3.50, didn’t get seated until 4.35, wasn’t until we complained did they bother to rush around, not a member of staff came over to say sorry for the delay and get we get you some drinks. Food was nice.

One of the best places I've been for food and Im a chef myself, prawns and crab for starters was absolutely amazing and the burgers for mains was insanely good and the staff where so lovely and prices are good also would recommend to anyone

Really nice setup inside, incl comfortable bar seating. Good of selection of beers, and also appears to have a decent wine list.

It's a great pub with lovely food but the staff really make it something special. Amber looked after us and despite being busy had a beaming smile and was so friendly. Super place.

Visited on Friday after work for a doggie date and tried to sit in the garden. The garden is completely unusable as it is full of dog poo - i counted 47 mounds of poo some of it so old it had mould growing on it. I trod in some as did my dog, my mate and his dog. Mentioned it to the staff and they fed me some nonsense about people letting themselves in via the back and letting their dogs go to the toilet - all the poo is the same shape and large so clearly coming from one dog. There is a large husky-type dog at then property and they clearly let it use the garden as a latrine. Don't lie to customers and don't use your garden, in which children play in, as a dog toilet.

We were in the back room and it was a lovely room but really cold had to put costs on..having said that the service and food were great

Lovely pub. Came for Sunday lunch. Menu ranged from £17 to £19 for standard roasts and veggy options with with some other more exotic dishes available. Super friendly staff who were very attentive and charming. Sadly let down for me by overcooked schnitzel that was overcooked and dry. Partners chicken roast was much better. Would give it another go as probably a one off

Great place to spend New Year's Eve.

Live in the village and have not been to the College Arms for a long time. Went a lunchtime and sat in the bar as we had two dogs. Chose from the lunch menu 6 orders all very much enjoyed. There were a few people when we first got there (lunch time and day before new year) started to get busy as we left. Good atmosphere, nice decor and friendly staff. Will definitely go back and try out the main menu very soon

Enjoyed a family gathering here. Food and drinks were promptly served and the menu is varied and classic. I enjoy a decent English pint and this also came up well.

My veggie wellington and the frickles was really delicious

Four of us came here for my Birthday dinner last week. The food was amazing! I had the French Onion soup to start and the chicken & ham hock pie for main. It was really nice, the pie was handmade and tasted so good! Service was good, we didn’t need much but the girls were quick to check on us and the food and offer more drinks when needed. Thank you for a great birthday dinner! 😊 would definitely return!

The menu was not as advertised on-line and more expensive. The quality and size of the meals did not meet the price charged. Service charge also automatically applied. Would not go again.

The Sunday lunch was a bit more school dinners than the pictures imply. We sat in the garden which is large but characterless. There was bird poo on all the tables and a giant dog poo in the grass. The staff at least cleared that up! It’s a regular pub serving standard but overpriced food. Nice for a drink but wouldn’t eat there again

This is a beautiful venue. A real pleasure to visit. This was the chosen venue of my dearly departed good friend, who's family had pre-paid the Bar Bill. The College Arms, was/is the correct venue for such an occasion. Happy events too of course!

Excellent meal and service despite large kids party in garden

Party of 8, food came out in dribs & drabs. Mentioned at the end of the meal that 1 item was over cooked, no apology just told we should have spoken up when asked if all ok, which happened very quickly after all meal delivery. Customer seems to be always wrong attitude.

Our waiter Dan was very helpful and accommodating during our visit, with Jake in the kitchen providing excellent food as usual.

Food was superb the kids had a roast , I had the king and crab linguine. Superb !!

I visited here as part of a funeral mermorial. The parking was an issue, small car park. The facilities were modern and clean. I can imagine it would be under normal circumstances a very nice watering hole

Went for Father's Day. Had such a lovely lunch. I had booked it a few weeks ago and asked for the the little room between the bar and restaurant as it's very cosy and feels like your in someone's home (just the one table that fits 3). My daughter had the burger and Fries, followed by 3 scoops of ice cream. Very good value and big portions. I had the butternut squash wellington roast and my husband had the pork belly. We both cleared our plates, it was delicious. Big portions too but managed a pudding. I had salted caramel profiteroles and my husband had the cherry and coconut ice cream sundae. Staff were very attentive even though it was busy. Would recommend coming here!

We went today. Staff extremely polite. Nice selection of good quality wine. We ordered chicken meal with roast. Chicken was very good unfortunately the vegetables were abysmal green beans were stale and older than me. I couldn’t believe a chef would think them acceptable to put on the plate. In fact the rest of the veg was so sparse on the plate it was hard to find the slithers of red cabbage and leeks. The roast potatoes were frozen. Apple crumble was very nice. Such a shame as this pub could be a gold mine if they just upped the quality of some of the food. Speaking to other diners they had said the same and had complained in the past and yet nothing has changed.

Went for lunch with my Dad. The menu reads really nice but what is delivered is not. Katsu burger is a reformed chicken patty which is pretty disgusting and not a £16 ingredient Chicken schnitzel was batted too thin and burned in places Skin on fries had lost their skin and were not skin on fries they were bog standard cheap chips I just wish that if a restaurant cannot deliver what is described on the menu they tell you in advance so you have the choice to change your mind Communication is King 👑

Beautiful pub & plenty of parking. The staff were attentive & we didn’t have to wait too long for our order. The roast dinner was quite small considering the price but it was tasty & well cooked. Unfortunately the dessert, Apple & Blackberry flapjack crumble, was tasteless & bland. We ordered 2 at £7 each & we both thought it lacked any flavour. My first visit & unfortunately I wasn’t blown away by the food.

Good pub and restaurant Service first class

Booked for 12:45pm (booking is a must). Dined in the back room, which was very charming. Lovely service from the team. Ordered a roast beef. Tell them how well you like your beef cooked. Otherwise, it will come out well done. Side options are cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Washed it down with a bloody mary and a shiraz. The only criticism I would say is that the vegetables weren't roasted. 8/10 - well done team

Great place , good food, good prices. We were a 'problem ' table: 5 adults, 2 children, one gluten intolerant, one one a diet and wanted grilled not pan fried fish. All requirements met. Lovely, helpful staff. Would recommend.

Wasn't that happy for the price we paid £53 !! 2 fish and chips 2 crumbles and 2 pints of shandy. Admittedly the food was very nice but the service bad. Was not asked if we enjoyed meal which we waited for over half hour The waitress was more interested talking and just doing bare essentials we asked for pudding she did not take plates away while serving us to much effort !! It was freezing cold in there .Not happy and won't be coming back !!

Lunch today was the worst pub lunch I have ever had ! Had a fish pie ( no fish 3 prawns and no potato topping ! ) and burnt crispy cabbage and peas when I complained about burnt vegetables the waitress said she would get freshly done ones only to be replaced by burnt crispy cabbage and peas again ! Took my drink of cider off the bill to compansate , won't be going there again!!!

Only had some bar food today which was excellent great decor and seating, will be back for a main meal soon

Where to start…. The drink that fell over my 18month old We waited 35 minutes for a table, eventually seated in an area with 8 or so empty tables. Then to be served drinks with a beer falling of the waitresses’ tray all over our 18 month old. The waitress apologised but not even to be offered a drink on the house by way of apology, that wouldn’t have gone a miss. Luckily we had a spare change of clothes for him otherwise we would have had to leave. Food came out,roast chicken and a roast beef. The beef was two thin small slices and chicken under cooked. The bill at the end had no reflection of any reduction for the fact my son was soaked in beer. All in all a negative experience and will not be returning.

First time visit with Jackie, had a nice meal served in a reasonable time. Rihanna was very welcoming and polite. Will come here again. Steeplejack Tom.

Booked in a celebratory Christmas meal at the College Arms with family (14 of us). The food was top notch and the service was excellent, especially considering it was very busy with another large booking in the event room. Highly recommended!

Great service, and the food was delicious. Decent platefuls of food, and a lovely menu, good value for money. It looked popular when we were there, and all the nooks and crannies made the table spacing very comfortable.

Dog friendly, which is a blessing this time of year, plus lovely food, and friendly staff just makes it the perfect pub in Hertford Heath.

Went for a Sunday roast, beef was nice but came with standard frozen veg and Aunt Bessie’s roast potatoes and Yorkshires. Nothing like the website pictures.

Only stopped off cos I needed the loo ! Sunday lunchtime, full of diners. Had a quick drink out of politeness and the service was excellent. Good atmosphere and food looked good.

A very long wait for an average lunch. Food hit and miss. Like many eateries it seems staff retention is the problem. Hope they sort it out as previous visits have been more successful.

The venue itself is very nice and the staff were wonderful. Unfortunately the food wasn't really up to scratch. I ordered a steak, blue - it came out medium rare at best, probably closer to medium. It was a very good piece of steak, but not cooked to how I'd ordered it My partner ordered the linguine. It was extremely over salted (I quite like salty food, but this was beyond what I would have enjoyed) and the king prawns were overcooked and rubbery. We saw another couple refuse their food and leave (I don't know what was wrong with his, but her burger looked crispy!) Hopefully it was maybe just an inexperienced chef - maybe their regular was off sick or something. I don't think we'll be going back though.

Unusual pub in that it was divided into different areas based around 1 bar. Very much a "diners" pub with excellent food but still had an array of beers and lagers. Small car park but ample street parking. The garden areas seemed very popular.

Roast dinner was disappointing but the pork belly starter was good.

I visited today and ordered a club sandwich. It cost £10 and did not come with salad, crisps or chips plus it had the smallest portions of bacon and lettuce and barely no mayonnaise. It was not worth the money and when we mentioned it to the waitress it seemed to go unnoticed. The food here used to be a really high standard but not anymore which is such a shame.

This place has gone downhill in a spectacular fashion!! It’s brill if you want a nice place with a bit of outdoor space and the team of staff were lovely. However….our meal took over 4hrs with long long waits between course!! When our courses did arrive although they tasted ok they were a total disappointment. You don’t go to a pub for teeny tiny haute cuisine portions, you go for good wholesome food that will fill you up! If something says it comes with veg and potatoes I expect more than 3 half mini potatoes and a few peas alongside more than 4 pieces of meat! Half of us seriously got home and immediately raided the fridge for food as we were so hungry the other half raided a shop on the way home and bought food to eat! Several items were battered/coated to such an extent that the contents where dry n flavourless. Last year I would have raved over this place but I’m sorry guys we won’t be back and it’s nosedived through the floor! The amount we spent on our tiny meal we could have hired our own chef and bought ingredients etc, eaten well and still had money and food to spare! Good luck as I think you’re going to need it but I’m soo hoping it was a glitch and you’ll be able to turn it back around again. Xx

First time visitor. Great welcome, good selection of drinks. Lunch menu had something for everyone all at very competitive price. Really like the interior decor and how the whole place is presented. Great outside space and seating. Only downside the outside seating cushions were wet and the gents toilet was not the cleanest. Will definitely return and highly recommend .

Not up to expected standard. Corners being cut to maximise cash return, eg poorly trained staff, decor very tired.

Had a great visit to The College Arms yesterday and were looked after by Alex and her team. The FA cup final was on and there was a great atmosphere.

Lovely decor and surrounds, although, we were cramped into a corner and a lovely couple behind us moved a chair from their table away to provide more room. We felt a little let down as did not live up to the good reviews that we read. Considering that we are locals, I took my wife and mother in law on Friday as we were on our way to a Wedding, so heading North for the weekend. We ordered 2 Buttermilk Chicken Burgers and I had a Double Beef Burger. The Buttermilk chicken (which I also tasted) was quite chewy and tasted sour, which generally suggests that it had marinated and had been stored a little too long before just going off. Anyway, due to time constraints, with a long 2 hour journey ahead, we did not get the opportunity to send it all back etc. as we had already waited a while for service. I mentioned it to the young girl serving us when she asked if everything was "OK" (it came across as she asked as part of 'run of the mill lip service', that when mentioned, the reply was "I'll mention it to the chef"......... ). Our experience: Nice enough surroundings, nothing special in relation to food, compared to Pubs that have a warmer welcome, comfort and are attentive. The quality of the food did not equate to the price, rather that it was a little over pretentious. I'm hoping that we may give the place a second chance, and that our experience just bad luck, but there was something lacking. Needless to say that we did not stay for pudding on this occasion. Perhaps 2 star exoerience

One of the best roasts we’ve ever had. I wish I was eating it again now! Lovely local pub feel and great staff. The live music was also a nice touch.

I bring my elderly client here who doesn't get out much. The staff are lovely and welcome us and one of the staff Meg always knows wjat we want and brings it to our table. Lovely staff always happy to help and a really nice friendly pub.
