Worst Indian have ever been to. Dirty tablecloth with cigarette burns. Butter chicken was a sauce of brown sludge which arrived with two blocks of margarine shoved on it. Asked tor a drink which was served flat. Not going there again!

Great staff great welcome very old fashion need to be more modern but the food makes up for it the food is excellent they cooked me something with no tomatoes as allergie to tomatoes it was excellent me and my friend really enjoyed it

I just opened up my order and the size of the order was ridiculously small. I cannot believe a single shrimp can cost 5£! This whole meal looked bigger on the images. This whole meal shouldn’t cost 23.10£! I will make sure to give it a single star if I don’t get my money back. Portion size is ridiculously small. I do not recommend.

Went for a meal here on a Tuesday night at around 9pm , we were unfortunately the only people in there at this time but guess its a quiet time! That said the food was lovely and there was cobra on draft 👌🏾 Service was fast and efficient. Some backround music and general updating would improve the feel of the restaurant. There was on street parking outside but only avaliable certain hours, after 6pm and sundays i think

We were driving to North Wales from London and stopped in Bangor as we knew we'd find somewhere for dinner. This is a basic restaurant and the food is just OK but my family ate everything that we ordered and nobody left hungry so they must be doing something right!

Starter ok, my garlic rice was not good the garlic was hard and dry. Cobra was flat. Guess it was cheap though. Shame

Extremely disappointed, sadly ☹️ I had high hopes because this was the only place open out of 3 Indian restaurants I had called. Wanted to give my visitor a treat to something nice. 1. Ordering Got here at 8pm. No one took our order even though the waitress was visbly present at the desk, taking phone orders and doing what seemed to be admin tasks.🤪 I had to walk to another table and pick up a menu by myself after 10 minutes had gone by. 😓We had made our decision within a few minutes so I signalled her to kindly come take our order , she attended to our table and still asked to be spared for a minute while she dealt with something else. ...and proceeded to clean up other tables, take phone orders, etc! 😤Waste of precious time! as all that was needed was to take the order to kitchen staff and then she could continue the other tasks. After another 10 minutes or so,our order was finally taken.🎉🎉 2. Waiting time I asked how long it will take...was told 30 to 40 min..She was quite apologetic, which I responded by saying if she had taken the order when I had indicated, the waiting time would have been less. Our food arrived a whole hour after we had sat down! 😓Meanwhile there were at least 3 takeaways picked up and numerous phone orders being picked up. Only 2 other tables were dining in, but they were served before us so ideally the wait could have been less. Ended up having dinner at 9pm😒. 3. Food I had ordered a biryani with plain naan,and a jalfrezi dish, alongside 2 bottles of water. Waitress took the order down IN WRITING, but when food finally came, there was no naan!.🤦🏾‍♀️🤐 We were served water in a jug also. By this time I was too hungry to bother to draw their attention. The rice was well cooked and meat was tender. I only wished the spice level was as advertised as we were looking forward to the hotness of the jalfrezi 🙁 4. Bill Price was okay for the meal. We got charged for the naan that wasn't served (as I predicted🙄). Error was rectified only after I had notified the waitress. I would have given a tip, save for all the stress.🤷🏾‍♀️ 5. Environment Looked nice, adequate and fairly clean.. unfortunately seemed our table wasn't fully ready before we were ushered to it, as there was a used glass from probably a previous customer. We happend to witness an accidental spill on the carpet from a delivery going out to another customer. Unfortunately there was no attempt to clean it up during the hour and half we were present. Conclusion Overall it seemed delivery orders take a priority over dine-in customers.☹️.. Probably rethink going here if you're already quite hungry/ if you have somewhere else to go.otherwise food is okay. Polite staff but abysmally slow service. Acceptable value for money. Will likely never go there again, but open to ordering for delivery.

Went here for food with 2 friends, the service was amazing, and the food was absolutely out of this world., and not expensive. I Will be recomending this place to everyone, has to be my favourite place to go for food now. Perfect.

Staff seemed friendly, food tasted ok but I got food poisoning from either the Bengal essence or the nargis kebab. My stomach can usually deal with anything so there must have been some nasty bacteria in something.

*I can't review the service as I've not eaten in* but can comment on the quality of the CTM we ordered. It was very very watery and had almost no taste, the strongest taste was almost like tomato sauce or something. Not great food for £22 for two dishes.

Great food through uber eats, great delivery, awesome communication from the delivery, just ordered a curry and a few sides, but was missing a cheese nan I ordered! Food was still great though!

Amazing place with fentastic food and they even take events, parties, and get-togethers with decorations as per the theme, over all it's a amazing place for traditional and authentic south Asian food and even they provide 15% discount for University students

Standard of food was passable but service was ridiculously slow even though it was in the week and only one other table occupied. Returned a second time service sluggish again just as well we had allowed ample time to attend an event.

Polite reception, we were the only couple in the restaurant but waited 40 minutes for our starters, no explanation or aplogy, it appears priority is given to phone orders... Food was nice when it finally arrived though.

The food we had was excellent, the staff really friendly and welcoming. The menu is the takeaway one, but this does not matter at all, it made no difference to us and the food was really lovely and good value for money. Well worth a visit if you love a good indian meal.

Turned up, not met at the door. Given take away menu's at the table to order food, table cloth very dirty, wrong drink given you table. Starters very poor greasy & no flavour. Side salad is just rough cut lettuce and 1 cucumber slice. Cobra beer flat. So far would not recommend even after a beer. Ordered chicken bhiryani, hard rice and dry chicken. Asked to be re made, came back same food but had been microwaved nuclear!!! Whilst attempting to eat a ceiling tile fell on a customer hurting her. Staff did nothing. Very poor. By far the worst curry house I have been too in the world. Don't waste your time.

Me and other half the only two in here but it was Wednesday evening 6.30. Another couple came in later. The manager did everything we believe. Cobra beer on draught was good and cold which was a bonus as it was stonking hot outside. Starters and main courses were really good and were not rushed. Excellent value. Would defo be back if ever in Bangor again.

I don’t write many reviews on Trip Advisor but after our visit to The Royal Tandoori I felt compelled to write a review. My initial thoughts on arrival were that this was just your average curry house but how wrong could I be! The minute that our waiter Dave approached the table I knew we were going to be in for a night of culinary delights as the enthusiasm for the dishes he has so wonderfully created was palpable. Drinks first. The wine was just the right warmth, the beer was cold and crisp and the lemonade was the fizziest I’ve ever known. Good job! Whilst sipping on a vintage Jacobs Creek and looking around, you could tell that Dave cares about the finer details and this is apparent when it comes to hygiene too. Certificates adorn the walls, some dating back to 1992, only reinforcing what everyone is thinking, this is a quality establishment. Whilst eating our perfectly formed popadoms an attractive lady walked in, approached the bar and asked if she could use the bathroom as she had missed her bus. Dave, being the complete gentleman that he is, happily obliged. Once the lady had finished her necessary business she made a beeline for Dave and proceeded to try and give him five pounds, as she said it was one of the cleanest and sweetest smelling public restrooms she had ever visited and it only felt right to pay for her defecation. It was a strange moment but Dave handled it beautifully and fortunately we were only drinking at that point. During the meal it started to get quite hot, unsurprising when there is such an incredible atmosphere, but we needed to cool down, and quick. Most restaurants would open a few doors to the detriment of the customers by the exit, not Dave. It’s clear that investment has been made in the property itself as within an instant two rotary fans were spinning so fast it felt like the Royal Tandoori was going to take off. Needless to say, it did the job and we were able to continue eating our great food. I personally recommend any lamb dish, the most tender and freshest I have tasted in all my years. I’ve left the best part until last, this being the exemplary service. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was on your plate before you knew it and no need for any of this iPad menu nonsense, just a good old pen and pad with a smile. Royal Tandoori, we’ll see you next year!

3 of us came here on a Tuesday evening. Service was quick and the food was brilliant. I had the chicken tikka Madras wich was superb. Would highly recommend.

Worth the wait, we attended early evening and takeaway was busy. We had usual couple of pompadoms and a main each with nan and a chapatti and pilau rice. Couple of pints of cobra draught. 2 1/2 pints infact.Bill was £35 which is great value. Both meals were excellent and the shaslik sublime! Rice perfect, would say decor is dated but why would that spoil the food experience which is spot on.

If you come to Bangor you must find this restaurant. It certainly lives up to its name. Fit for royalty. The best food I’ve tasted for a long time. The service is very welcoming too.

Bangor is - let's face it - pretty quiet on a weekday evening after 7pm when the students aren't in town. The High street really shutters up and closes down, and it's not so easy to find somewhere to eat without a bit of a walk.Well, not so the Royal Tandoori, which was open for business as usual.Being so quiet in town meant I was served pretty much instantly!The food was beautifully spiced, not merely hot, and I enjoyed my meal.Starter was a mixed kebab, followed by a delicious mixed biryani for a main course. All washed down with Cobra beer.A value-for-money filling meal. I'd definitely visit again!

Friendly staff and owner Mr Khan, who made the delicious wholesome food - chicken shatkora (cooking lime in a thick spicy sauce), and a yummy aloo chaat which I’m going back for tonight

South Indian food... not good... should have gone to Bangor tandoori

Turned up around 10pm with about a dozen people in bangor. The owner was pleasant and made no fuss about serving us all. Food was ready pretty quick and reasonable. It's nothing special, but then I live in an asian area of Manchester so am used to lots of Pakistani/indian food. Standard, british curry.

We were looking for a good curry munch, but we're only disappointed we orderd the starter to be fair was nice a bit greasy but I've had worse, then the main meal came out only to find a game of hide the protein my partner orderd the KING prawn curry to find a bowl of spinach and 3 small things that never looked like prawns I on the other had had chicken curry with more onions that you could throw a stick at it was also a challenge to find any meat and the Nann bread was fresh but as it was a garlic NannI would love it to taste of garlic .When the girl that servervd us asked if the meal was ok we asked where were the KING prwans? She replied I saw him cooking the dish, not the best customer service and all this for £38.00.Don't go if better going to the pub next door.....

Quiet restaurant was a bad sign to start, even on a weekday.Starters were pleasent altho took a while.Mains very disappointing, definitely not king prawns, although there were 4 faguly prawn like specimens in the mostly spinach and onion based sauce.Not very spicy at all.The garlic nan had no hint of garlic although looked delicious and homemade. Service was poor and unassuming. Would not reccomend

Stumbled onto this restaurant on a Wednesday night, early.This is good standard British Indian Restaurant food with a few special dishes.Great pappads and sambals. What you would expect.Really tasty mushroom baji and well made paratha.All our food was very nice... It's not India folks, but it is BIR food.

Came here as the Wetherspoons next door was jam packed, the restaurant only had 1 occupied table at this time. Looking at the menu it is standard Indian food as you’d expect. The waiter came over and took our order, he was quite dry but nice enough. Our food took about 25 minutes to come out, decent portions very tasty, my only gripe was that the chicken was quite chewy and dry however the actually curry and naan bread was delicious. The restaurant was very clean, with old 80’s decor which is in-keeping with the style they are going for.

The crapiest place to eat. I will not recomend this place to any one for any kind of food. Rude behaviour of the guy working here on the front. Only have one person in the kitchen to cook everything. Asked for more naan bread been told to waite 20-25 mints and food is already on the table. Ridiculous service honestly. Wasted time and money.

We phoned to make a reservation and the person who answered the phone clearly couldn't speak English and when we arrived they had no knowledge of our reservation. Despite this, they still accommodated us and the food was superb. Only real gripe I would have is that they don't sell alcohol of any description but they will let you bring your own. They don't tell you until you order though so then you have to go to the shop opposite to buy your alcohol while your food goes cold.

I ordered a chicken Chaat , a chicken balti and naan bread ! The food here is amazing ! Especially the currys! Been here many times and the restaurant never fails on the taste ! However the ambience is very sad and too quiet to make anyone happy! It feels like I walked into 1990!

We chose this place because tripadviser gave it a 5 star rating but I have to agree with all the other recent reviews it was truely awful. I had chicken tikka balti and it was tasteless and bland and the chicken was undercooked. The garlic naan bread we ordered was stone cold and didn’t taste of garlic at all. Avoid this place at all costs

My daughter and i visited the royal tandoori for a exam results celebration meal.

Place was deserted, probably more life at a funeral, flies everywhere all around our food and drinks, place smelt of mould and damp, food was bland, got served coke out of a bottle that was completely flat

I’ll start by saying this. I LOVE a good Indian. Also, I’m not normally one to write scathing reviews. I believe every business man or woman deserves a chance to make a living and I don’t wish to put people off spending money here. HOWEVER, the owner of this place is so clearly happy to get away with providing a cheap, sub-standard service, quality of food and dining experience that he deserves to be corrected. I really wish I could give this restaurant zero stars.

I don’t know whether the waiter was having a bad day or what but his attitude sucked. We were told that whatever you want to order you have to do it right up front as we won’t be allowed to ask for things later. We are talking about the number of nan bread here.

Everything about this restaurant was old. The decor, the service and the food. Second grade food warmed up from the previous day. Terrible! Avoid!!

Good service, offers student discount and in spite of the bland food comments, I thought it had very nice flavour with some spice to it. Highly recommended.

Great food good service will go again

Slow service and the most bland Indian food I've ever had, not one of the dishes served to my kids, wife and myself had any flavour to them. This was followed by a green ice cream that both my kids disliked and tasted of nothing.

Business trip in Gwynedd, best rated nearby Indian Restaurant was in Bangor. Royal Tandoori decor looked very 90’s style but that didn’t bother me. Ordered a simple Chicken Tikka Biriani and a glass of coke. Restaurant was busy and expected the food to be standard, Biriani looked simple but the taste was amazing!! I looked at the elderly gentleman and thought to myself you are getting a tip tonight!! I e realised the simple, clean and non greasy. biriani is how it should be served, like in India/Bangladesh. Cleaned the entire plate of Biriani, didn’t finish the sauce, the Biriani was very tasty on its own. I’ll be coming back again tomorrow night.

We collect a takeaway from here quite often, and occasionally eat in. Each time the food is excellent and the service is even better. The student discount and takeaway discount is very appealing.

Accommodated 16 of us with no notice at all and on a Sunday night when most other places were closed. Service was friendly and excellent, food fantastic. We had a great evening, would definitely recommend it

Without doubt the blandest tasting set of “curries” we’ve ever experienced. The restaurant smelled of damp and the poppadoms made cardboard appealing. Steer clear.

I visited here recently with my family and I came away very disappointed . The best part of the meal were the poppadoms which were delicious . The rest of the meal was very disappointing . Service was very slow the food when it arrived did not meet our expectations . Food was not very hot the door of the restaurant was left open and it was quite a cold evening . The staff did not seem overly happy . I was only visiting for the weekend so I will probably never dine here again

When phoning the restaurant to book a table the staff said that there were only a few tables left to be quick when we got there, there were only 5 people in the whole restaurant. Staff had attitude because we didn't order a lot of food and opened the door while we were eating the waiter opened the door which made us all cold. The food was very salty and oniony, the waiter explained that they usually have students as there regulars, this is not an excuse Indian food should be catered for all. We were Asians and we like our spices and we got none!!!

I have been to some excellent indian restaurants and didn't think RT would be on par, however, I was pleasantly surprised! The service was good and the food was of a very good standard. I wish I had found this place sooner as with student discount this place is very good value.

While on holiday we visited, we found the gentleman serving was very polite and helpful, the food was served warm and although my son's first Indian we ended up with three empty plates and even the serving bowls clean...it's value was also good...only reason for not a 5 star it simply needs updating inside!
