Red Chillies in Gwynedd

Booked in for a dinner here while staying in Blaenau. It probably does ok as it is the only restaurant of it's type for miles around. Service was good, but food was as Bangladeshi food used to be many years ago before restaurants started."upping their game" Both meals were quite sweet too. Was surprised to see you are invited to bring their own alcohol. It also said "cash payment only" which nearly caught me out

If curry and the use of spices is part of your staple diet, or if you would like something a little bit special, this restaurant offers a very unique style which is fulfilling and exquisitely satisfying. The blend of spices and the use of fresh ingredients and spices is well worth experiencing, the kitchen is producing healthy food, with care. If like me you eat curry on a regular basis, you will not be disappointed, indeed you will be pleasantly surprised by the chef’s originality, unspoilt, natural and very wholesome. The take out is nicely packaged with tin foil cartons. Preferred method of payment is cash. There is a coop opposite the railway station with cashpoint and drinks etc.

Food is just okay but there isn't much competition in the area. You could tell the guy working wanted to be anywhere other than work. The atmosphere is a bit grim too. If you're stuck with not much choice, then go for it. But don't treat yourself as you'll most likely be a little disappointed.

Nice food. Staff friendly enough. Interior needs sorting out. I understand many restaurants are struggling financially but it's not acceptable to have mould on the walls .

Visited this restaurant during our stay. We had a sit in meal. Group of 4 of us and every one of us loved our food. We all got different main meals , everything was perfect & delicious & fresh. Would recommend this restaurant 100%

The vegetable Bhuna was excellent and the Onion Bhaji's were honestly exquisite. You'll need cash and if you eat in take your own alcohol if you want it. Thoroughly recommended.

Had driven all day to get to the site I was booked in to and decided to get a takeout, Big mistake, they don’t take card payment and I had to walk 5 minutes to get cash, Wish I hadn’t bothered! I ordered a chicken curry and when I got home I found 5 pieces of overcooked frozen chicken in a sauce that was bland to say the least, the rice was watery , it cost me £16 and I threw it in the bin, definitely the worst meal I’ve ever had cooked, stay away! And I question the 5 star reviews this company has.

All of the dishes were absolutely loaded with jaggery (indian sugar) to the extent I could still taste it hours afterwards. The chicken was a bit rubbery. The sauces were not based on BIR gravy but seemed to be some sort of thickener. I was disappointed that there was no coconut or almond in the sauces, or even garnish such as methi. They were quite thin. The sides were very poor value. £3 a portion for pilau rice, but the portion size was less than a kids portion. Less than a cup each. And the naan bread was smaller than my hand. Staff were pleasant and service was rapid despite it being busy. 6/10

The restaurant is fine in itself, but the cellar stairs packed with random rubbish on the way down to the damp toilets leave a lot to be desired. The place feels unloved, which is a shame as the food and staff were ok.

The only Indian restaurant in town. Offers sit in and takeaway. Cash only (no cards accepted). We popped in for a takeaway and the restaurant is nothing to write home about. Very tired, drab decor. Not somewhere for a romantic night out! But the food is very good. Chicken naga, prawn biryani (at my request but not on the menu), naan and poppadoms. Still piping hot when we got back home. There was plenty of food and leftovers. Prices are also very good. Recommended.

It was one of the best Indian food I have eaten in a small and nice place. Very delicious and they do it Indian and not European spicey. The service is super friendly and great value for money. Go there when you have a chance!

A dingy claustrophobic interior with moldy toilet facilities had me questioning their kitchen standards. Despite my better judgement, I went ahead and sampled the average-at-best food. One good thing about this restaurant is that they allow you to bring your own alcohol. However, this does not make up for their other shortcomings. Also be aware, this restaurant ONLY takes cash and does not accept any other form of payment (in this day and age?). If you're after a good dining experience, this dodge and outdated restaurant is not it.

Phoned through an order and was a 20 min wait for collection, which I think is good. The lady at the counter was friendly, polite and found me a seat whilst I waited. The food was good, not greasy at all, and nicely spiced. Prices were very reasonable.

Really good food - despite being cash only and bring your own beer, they've put the effort in where it really counts. All the curries we had were very different flavours from each other - the tamarind one was especially good. They also used good quality meat, and plenty of it.

Very delicious, I visit here every year the staff is really what has me coming back. Everyone is friendly and kind. They don’t sell alcohol anymore but you are allowed to bring your own. This time we had FISH CURRY you have to wait a little long for Fish curry but good food is worth the wait

I have been here 3 times and each experience is fantastic! Every dishes I have had is delicious and amazing. Especially Murghi masala. The service is absolutely attentive and friendly. The two young ladies who were working on that night they were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us, they even gave us their personal recommendation and they did not disappoint. Amazing food and great service. If we lived around the area we would definitely return. We came here as a last minute booking whilst on holiday. We enjoyed our meal and the staff was so friendly. Before we went back to Manchester we had another takeaway. We had 3 tandoori chicken we were really impressed and it was fresh tandoori chicken. Overall, 10/10 would recommend.

After reading the reviews we decided to try the Red Chillies out. The food was really good. The girl serving was so friendly and great with my kids. They serve soft drinks you are allowed to bring your own alcoholic drinks. The food was well cooked and tasty and the biryani was one of the best I've had in year highly recommend

Ate here last night. The food was spot on. Specially the Chicken korai. And would defenitly recommend. Staffs were really nice. you can take your own alcoholics drinks with you.

Had a very nice meal at red chillies. No booking is needed and there is space for around 20-25 people. I noticed that their takeaway service was quite busy. We waited quite long before the food arrived. I ordered a chicken shashlik with a vegetable curry. They only serve soft drinks so you can bring your own booze which keeps your drink bill down. Overall pretty good, price for 4 people was £69 including teas and soft drinks. They do not accept credit or debit cards, only cash.

I've eaten Indian Cuisine all over the UK and this place is by far the best. Family run, pleasant atmosphere. Food was unreal. Light fluffy naans and incredibly tender chicken being the highlight. Couldn't rate it high enough xx

Calm environment with tasty food and kind service

Well tried one from here 2 years ago found it poor but tonight mrs talked me into one and Well best man bread I've had in ages the chicken tikka could fault it tender Touch salty but that would Be bit unfair had a thick parka dhal tasty thick as I asked for main meal was lamb Rogan Josh I come from north east ours made differant but this time ok very fine but went very well with the man bread sadly like most take aways lamb Bit chewy par for the corse But overall would make me This time return one slight fault I asked for an extra mint sauce it wasnt in bag but all food was piping hot and both of us enjoyed it

A lack of atmosphere with no attention to the tired décor inside. There are signes posted all over the place stating they don't take card payments which is rediculous, as well as a big judgemental sign stating they do not serve alcohol in bold red writing. Waitress was very friendly and served us with a smile. The food came and several people at our tables complained that their dishes were not spicy at all. They all asked for medium spice. My garlic naan had no evidence of garlic and tastes plain as well as slightly doughy. My friends naan had some kind of paste on it and also tasted doughy. So we basically ended up sitting at a table with no alcohol and bland food glad that our friend could cover the bill in cash so we can pay him back. Will not be returning.

Had an onion bhaji starter and a vegetable biriani main both very nice. Staff are lovely and friendly. Don't let the fact that they have no alcohol licence as you can take your own this is a good thing as £5 for 4 cans or £7 for a bottle of wine is better than pub prices and there is no Corking charge. Coop is very close to this restaurant so if your on hhe snowdonia 360 route and need a food stop give it a go its pretty good

Food was nice. Restaurant could do with a redecoration due to the damp and mould creeping up one wall for all to see! Nothing to tell you on line, they don't accept credit or debit cards. ONLY CASH! (Bit dodgy?) No alcohol served. Take your own. Staff didn't seem to be overly helpful to serve. Bottled water comes in small bottles. No sparking. Had to ask for tap water. Then had to ask for glasses. Such a shame. Attention to detail is very poor. The saving grace was the food!! With a little TLC, this restaurant would do so much better. Still worth a visit for the food. Just don't look around too much.

Disgusting behaviour. Rang to book table. Came on time and then one couple came in off the street with their son and jumped over us. I had to specify the order with her and she said we'd have to wait. We left. I found this unpleasant and discrimatory. A superb value for money Indian with good tasting food and friendly service. Food arrives quickly and is well cooked with decent flavours. An excellent place to,fill up,after a hard day walking or cycling in the hills. Doesn’t take cash or have an alcohol license but they are happy for you to take your own and there is a cash point just across the road at the Co-op. Plenty of parking on the main road or car parks close by.

After the papadoms with 3 different sauces (mint, chilli and lemon, sweet and sour) as a starter we were excited with various tastes delivered already. But we were disappointed with the main course - tandoori chicken (whole leg on bone) was difficult to eat, it was cooked through but impossible to take it out of bone. The lamb Hasina was tender but tasteless - I expected spicy Indian dish but it was nothing impressive, to be honest. And this pathetic "salad" made from chopped iceberg and one slice of tomato. The naan bread was exceptional so it looks that they have a good Chef but maybe he doesn't get enough support? Maybe someone who order shopping would buy for them more vegetables and a good quality chicken breast, instead of the cheapest chicken legs. Cucumber rajita it was a bowl with joghurt with 3 slices of cucumber chopped roughly and thrown on the top. Is it rajita really? Waitress was extremally helpful and friendly and it was very positive. I'm a fan of Indian cuisine and I was thrilled to try all these amazing tastes. Most of the time when others say an Indian restaurant is good I try it and I’m still underwhelmed. Not here. We had the Madras and it was hot enough but more importantly very flavourful. The chicken was tender and the rice and naan fresh - not at all greasy. The curry wasn’t too salty either which I have sometimes found elsewhere. Couldn’t recommend more.

Tandoori chicken was perfect. The Madras was hot and delightful. The poppadoms were flavourful and crisp. The sides were tasty and portions were just right. No wasted rice or curry. You must bring your own drinks though.

Having just arrived in Blaenau Ffestiniog we were recommended this restaurant by the host at our AIrbnb. Food was delicious, atmosphere great and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Not sure how anyone could give this a bad review.

Not a massive restaurant and looks like it could do with a refurb. But the staff were super friendly and the food was exceptional, perhaps the best Indian I have ever had in this country, and it was BYOB!

One of those surprises. In a place like Blaenau Ffestiniog we found one of the best Indian restaurants we've been to. Lovely staff and excellent food and great value to boot. Well worth a visit.

Ignore any negative reviews, we stayed nearby and gave them a try for a take out for 6 people and can truly say it was as good as any Indian we had had in recent years, very well worth the money, well done guys.

Please go and support this family run local business :) we were staying in snowdonia national park for my 30th birthday ended up at red chilies restaurant as was local for us and the owner was so attentive also the best naan bread I’ve ever had! Staying in Blaenau on holiday and after reading some of the past reviews we almost didn't get takeaway from here but glad we did! Seems the locals love it and some tourists don't. If you're unsure, here's some advice someone once gave me which has served me well. If it's your first time in a restaurant and you want something guaranteed to be nice, look at the chefs specials. This is what the chef is most proud of. I had Naga Chicken (not what I would have at home) and it was lovely!

I cannot believe what they have given me for £16.99The 'pilau' rice doesnt even taste like pilau rice , it taste like boiled rice with literally 10 seeds in it, no fragrance AT ALL its lime their taking the mickey, the curry is not a curry but a pile of dry beans, no wet bit, wheres the curry sauce for crying out loud, the nan was BURNT to a crisp, check out what i got for my dinner for 17 quid, takes the absolute mickey, sorry bout pout of focus pic but so peeed off cant hold cam still enough and i had to drive to get it. called them they said nothing they going to do about it!!!

Stayed locally and found their takeaway menu in our cottage. We phoned through our order for 6 people and went to collect after 30 mins as they dont deliver. It's also cash only but luckily we had some even though in middle of covid as had no idea where we would find a cash machine in this tiny village.We ordered 6 mains ( various) including jalfrezi and some chef specials and 7 starters to try a vast selection.Wow, the food was stunning, all was hot and NON GREASY!! It was the nicest curry I had ever had There was silence around the table except for yummy noises haha. We would of loved to have visited again but was only there for 3 nights and had a meal booked at a restaurant the 3rd night which retrospectively we could have missed as wasnt a patch on this place and the food was greasy! We will definitely visit again when walking holiday brings us back. Highly recommend this place

Me and my girlfriend went to the restaurant last week, it was so delicious specially the curry was awesome, we also ordered starters it was lovely, looking forward to go again

First impressions weren’t too good with a dirty table cloth instantly giving us a red flag. The popadoms and onion bahjis were okay but the vegetable curry had been clearly made from a bag of mixed frozen veg and what looked like baby food as sauce and the chicken from another curry was extremely rubbery and greasy. Not much was being practiced, COVID related, apart from the hot towels at the end so overall left with empty stomachs and a possible case of corona.

I always have to eat here at least once per visit to Tanygrisiau, always try something different, never been disappointed. Shame they no longer serve alcohol.
