Great atmosphere and friendly staff, massive range to choose from. we took our dog and he was spoilt rotten with treats and strokes. Will most definitely return.

Popped down for the karaoke and had a mint night! Brilliant! Great atmosphere and the drinks were very reasonably priced

Great place, great staff. Came by on the first day of the Ascot, lad called Dan changed over one of the TV’s over so that we could watch the racing. Customer service 10/10 with good craic, won our custom for the rest of Ascot week.

Amazing Friday night for me and the girls! Staff were so lush, cocktails were gorgeous! We were heading down to the Stack but decided to stick around! Thinking of heading back next weekend!

Great welcome here at the Royal marine, Gary the new General manager is making steady progress in all aspects, hopefully won't be too long before foods starts up again. Great night at the 70's disco/karaoke and great atmosphere.

This part of north sunderland has several pubs in competition where you could go for a pint and this one is my last choice . Why ? The Royal Marine needs a good clean and refurb . You only have to visit the mens toilets which sums up this place . A dirty pee trough and one toilet with no seat . Tables outside covered in dirt and one with a large hole in the wood. Posters everywhere and glue on the brickwork. . ( This used to be the thriving Sunderland Flying Boat ) but now it needs a full refurb or at least a decent clean up. I wouldn't even think of ordering food from anywhere with such rubbish toilets . How long does it take to fit a toilet seat ?? will be drinking elsewhere

Maybe its because we use this pub in early evening but have to say its an odd place . Staff are fair to good but the locals "regulars" are a strange bunch... and not very friendly. You will have to really draw them into conversation...

Gone absolutely down hill recently now that there is no DJ very disappointed used to love coming here on Sundays but now I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Had a lovely pizza, base just the way I like, Peri Peri Chicken, loads of flavour, called in on spec, other dishes being served looked nice, would go again.

The food is outstanding. Always piping hot. Will cook to your request also. Drinks are very well priced and the pints are lovely. Danielle always pulls my pint perfect because I'm a little picky when it comes to a diesel.

Spicy Italian is best pizza on the menu and can highly recommend. great service and pub. really wouldn't expect the quality of pizzas. and buy one get one free everyday. also do a Man v Breakfast which looks a monster.

I never usually drink during the week but decided to call in for a quick pint on my way home from graft. Well I'm glad I did as the Stella is fantastic - served helpfully and with a smile by a lovely young man called Paul.Whilst sitting in the friendly and comfortable surroundings I decided to have a little neb at the food menu. Why? Because I can. And I did. And I'm glad I did too. Flicking through glancing at the various pizzas, flatbreads, salads, pastas and sides my eyes settled on the burger section. "I could do with a burger like" I thought to myself as a sipped on my delicious pint.Now I was facing a bit of a dilemma - the Chicken Tikka burger looked mint but the Ultimate Burger looked lush too. Decisions decisions decisions.I pondered whilst marvelling at how good my pint was.As I am a skinflint I eventually settled on the Chicken Tikka burger because it was 20p cheaper (£9.29) than the Ultimate Burger and I must say it was the best decision I made in years.I placed my order with my main man Paul and 15 minutes and another Stella later a young lady called Kirsty emerged with my food.It looked and smelled fantastic and tasted just as good.A good size chargrilled chicken fillet with salad, tikka sauce and a poppadom. Served with spicy wedges which were cooked to perfection and served with sour cream and chilli salsa dips. Well as far as burgers go this was up there with the best of them I must say.Topper bait and booze in the best pub in the area.

This is a lovely little pub situated on the busy and popular Sea Road that offers cheap drinks and amazing food. The staff are always helpful and friendly, especially the young girl with the brown hair and full fringe. The pub plays popular sport games and often have drink offers and food offers, 2-4-1 pizzas every day is just fantastic! The pub is always clean and well maintained however i feel it could use a revamp as the other pubs in the area have recently been redecorated. The pub is also dog friendly which is great for dog owners to be able to get out of the house for a drink or two without leaving their pet behind.Overall i would highly recommend this pub to others, definitely one to visit if in that area!

Very friendly pub with helpful bar staff. Very popular at weekends and during football matches. This pub has a traditional atmosphere with lots of "regulars" as well as occasional visitors. Serves home made pizzas, cooked breakfasts and a few other food choices, all very good.

The drink prices are pretty average compared to other pubs in the area but the cheap breakfast they have advertised is really poor to put it politely! I asked for my eggs to be fried but flipped meaning not runny but they came out runny all over the plate. This may not be a big thing to some but I get sick and tired of people not listening when you place an order. There was no butter or jam with my toast and when I asked for some, it was as if I was really putting them out. There are so many more great little cafes close by on Sea Road that I wouldn't recommend going here for breakfast.

Called in here for a drink on Bank Holiday Monday and really wished we had taken our business elsewhere. The young man behind the bar was quite unfriendly which really surprised us because one of the reasons we come and stay up here is because it's so friendly (maybe he just doesn't like people who aren't local). We were planning on returning the following evening for food and when ordering our drinks asked what time food was served till. We got a very abrupt "6 o'clock" reply but yet their website says 9 o'clock. As he was been so unfriendly we paid for our drinks, drank them and left and went to Santini's on the seafront the following evening and had a very nice meal served by very friendly staff.

It has been a long time since I have been treated so rudely. Just because one of my party requested a plain cheese and ham toastie which was a slight variation of a more elaborate version already on the menu, we were told in the most abrupt and rude manner "No!" If we wanted that we'd have to go to the café across the street. When we decided not to stay we had to endure a sarcastic grin and byeeeeeeee as we left. No wonder there was hardly anyone in there on a Saturday lunch time. Take my advice and give this establishment a wide berth. Spend your money in places that actually deserve it.

The royal marine is the best all round pub in the area. Reasonably prices drinks and excellent food on offer. Welcoming atmosphere and a great night out, especially over the weekend. Expect great tunes on the jukebox and a friendly face behind the bar! 10/10

A great place to grab some tasty food at a decent price. The only downside was some of the clientele were behaving to an appropriate standard of an eatery.

This has always been a good pub but now its serving great food. The pizzas are tremendous the atmosphere is good.big screens for sport and the staff are very welcoming . On the down side the toilets need a revamp. Overall 8/10

Myself and my partner called in for some food one evening but we had missed the food by 3 minutes. Devastated as we have heard good things. Apart from that the staff were friendly and would definitely go back (earlier!) for some food. Overall a good experience :-)

What a lovely surprise! The pizzas at the Royal Marine are excellent, the wine is good and cheap and the surroundings are light and airy. A friendly welcome is the cherry on the cake!! Go; you will not be disappointed.

An extremely friendly atmosphere where you can sit and relax with a pleasant drink at reasonable prices.

Visited here last Tuesday afternoon and we had two of the loveliest pizzas ever! The Moroccan chicken in particular was amazing. Thin bases meant we could manage to eat everything up. Friendly service throughout our stay and the 2 4 1 offer on pizzas made the occasion perfect. Well done.
