Royal fish bar in Cheltenham

Unfortunately chips were beige and unappealing, could get over that but they tasted like they have been fried in very old oil. Battered sausage tasted off, really dry batter and again tasted very old, I suspect maybe it was frozen? Potato scallop was incredibly greasy, very unfortunate experience.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND THEN INSULTED BY THE OWNER! Missing food. Food was also late. Rang owner to try and sort out the food that was missing but he said it wasn’t his fault and blamed the driver. We found that laughable. 🤣 He didn’t want to take any responsibility and was extremely rude and had a real attitude problem. He would not apologise or refund us for the food that was missing and that we had paid for. He obviously does not care about his customers. The food that did arrive was poor and not good at all. In all honestly, it was probably the worst service we have ever had from a fast food provider. Avoid at all costs! An extremely unhappy 🙁 customer 😡

Ordered through Uber One, arrived missing cod from only 4 orders. Rang, tried to explain the situation but not understood. Portions are an absolute rip off. Been using for over 20 years, never again. Do not waste your money

Absolute junk the fish was I suspect frozen and cheap. The battery was like wallpaper paste swerve at all cost.

kids fancied a fish and chip dinner and Simpsons was slightly further away so thought we'd give these guys a try. The fish was freshly battered and fried in front of me (which is a positive) and when i got home (to my holiday rental) we were really impressed at the size of the cod but then quickly realised that the batter was exceptionally thick and the cod was way to thin. Chips ok but for the prices charged this was a really poor meal. Never again.

I Had cod and chips the chips and the fish were very nice however the batter was like rubber. 5 minute wait whilst they were doing there deliveroo orders.

We have a new neighbour and she asked me where to go for fish and chips I told her Royal fish bar, she then asked me,when I go again could I get her some fish and chips . This I did for her, gets a text from her saying that the fish was some of the best she had tasted only one small problem, she had too many chips, but again they were nice, ok I have read some of the comments, I have always found the staff to be very helpful, cheerful, that's why we go there every week, there is another fish and chip shop nearby but nowhere as good.

As good if not better than Simpson. Their large cod is excellent and chips are OK but could do with being a bit darker however not a big issue.

Asked 3 times if the fish was cod and when I got home it was sea bass. Brought it back next day I was polite and all I expected was an apology instead they debated this and insisted it was cod without providing any evidence ie packaging they then started to wrap a piece of fish for me which I refused on the grounds that I was not going back for a freebie as I could not eat the first piece of fish I bought why on earth would I want another. Its just the principle

Recently had chicken, pies, sausages and chips with curry sauce for me and the partner oh I did have a cheeky donar wrap for the drive home. They've recently changed the place up bigger cooking area it seems. Food was very reasonable, tasty not to greasy no next day toilet sprints needed. Staff very friendly and professional.

Lovely food, fish is great. Always follow any special instructions. Kebab is lovely tandoori chicken or doner. Chips are ample portion sizes.

Ordered fish and chips and a sausage through Deliveroo and the “large” cod was really small (very long but extremely thin). The chips were plentiful but really pale and tasteless. Was for a family occasion so was a real let down.

Excellent Fish and Chip shop, one of the best in Cheltenham, love the chips here and the fish is excellent to. Very friendly staff who work very hard.

Proper chippy with a few surprises too.... great value as well

This was a quick stop off for tea order. Not to bad service for fish quick and friendly.. large portions for good value for money! No gf options available tho.

Whilst coming to Cheltenham Town FC decided to get Fish n Chips . So disappointed , simple order . Took ages to cook , got order wrong & the food was tasteless Won't be going there again

40 minutes late with my order food is OK wouldn't order again

Amazing food, love the fresh fish and if you ask them to cook you cheese nam in the kilm then put the cheese on top after then melt it, it turns out amazing, I will definitely be ordering again
