Benhall Fish Bar in Cheltenham

Ordered on Uber eats, £18 for large cod and chips, which isn’t bad I suppose, however either the delivery driver was peckish or they ran out of chips as it wasn’t a large and wasn’t worth £18 at all. Fish was nice however the batter was soggy and there was no salt n vinegar.

Fed up with paying for large chips which are nearly £5 which usually go round 3 of us to get a tiny portion for one person it's not funny and does not make you want to go back. Shame owners not around as new lad isn't interested or have a clue what he is doing.

Prices up portion sizes down but that said I always thought the cone size was to much now I can eat all the 🍟 without waste if any left it goes out for the resident 🦊

I find the staff to be indifferent, they don't seem to appreciate your custom and can't even smile. The service is quite fast and the portions are generous. Parking is available right outside.

Average fish and chip shop let down extremely poor service. Staff pleasant but they must be the slowest chip shop in the UK. Waited over 35 minutes to get a single bag of chips. It was bad engough waiting times before but now they are on Just Eat the waiting times are beyond a joke now for anyone walking in to get served as they spend all their time on delivery orders first. Recommend taking your business elsewhere on a Friday

Lovely pie 🥧 and chips 🍟 tho a bit expensive for a single pie and I’ve had better for less money but when one is not well and doesn’t even want to pop a pie in oven then these are ok…

All ok tho on my last review I forgot to mention u can now buy vinager from here and it’s proper vinager lovely if used in making mint sauce

Absolutely beautiful battered cod.. only thing was I thought I’d ordered cod & chips but I hadn’t so had to sit & eat the cod without the chips gutted!!😢

Food wa ok but delivery was so long it was lukewarm by the time it arrived. Lukewarm fish and chips not very nice. Driver asked us to come down to him rather than coming in. As we are elderly and disabled we made him come up

Chicken burger meal is advertised with salad and sauce but it came completely plain and there was no option to select these. Chips also didn’t have salt and vinegar on.

We waited for an hour and a half. Delivered food was cold chips were mushy and cold. Not a pleasant meal thre most of it away

Never received our order and when we called to ask where it was the lady hung up on us.

there was meant to be salad in the chickhen burger and salt and vinger on the chip and was dry up chips

I ordered for 6pm but arrived at 6.40 food was cold.

Can’t fault it lovely chips best in Cheltenham that I’ve had and unlike some others chips warm back up nicely has sometimes I’m last to grab mine 😝

despite ordering early, food from here has never been on time and only being 20 minutes late today is a one of there better efforts.

scampi was missing from the order thats 9quid i just lost

Haven't been here for while but decided to try it tonight as the kebabs used to be really good with lots off flavour. I will say I was very disappointed tonight hardly any meat and a little bit of lettuce and tomatoe and cucumber.dont think I will bother again not worth the price .

I absolutely love everything about this chippy! Food piping hot, delicious, not greasy and never had a bad meal! This is why its our number one takeaway!

After logging in - just eat gave the wrong phone number and address to the fish bar - the driver was then arguing with me whilst I was trying to give him the correct address and postcode The receipt on the bag of food had the wrong information

Went in for pensioners fish n chips as we find a "normal " size order too much. This is exactly the size we could manage, still lots but less waste. Highly recommend, lovely crispy batter on a good sized fish, along with plenty of chips, very reasonably priced.

Al good tho would like to point out just lately the fish Is sticking to chips and you cannot move it without it being a mess what’s happened to grease proof paper it’s normally wrapped in ??? I’ve ordered loads from here but it does put you off considering the price .

Really good food, always busy. But with the delivery industry taking over, that is where they make money. You have to wait for your food unless you order it over the phone, because the delivery riders take preference. Still a great shop but, not the wait of up to 25 minutes for fish and chips. I went there again last night. Much better turn around of food. I think I waited about 10 minutes maximum.

The food was cooked nicely. However this is the second order in a row where the Diet coke bottles were out of date by nearly a month. The drinks tasted awful so had to bin them. Over £8 wasted.

best chippy i have ever been to, my family is a common custommer. big servings of chips, very nice food. The wait time can vary greatly and can be long a busy times

Fantastic Fish and chips, can't recommend enough.

I don’t know what changed but it’s not as good as it use to be. The batter on the fish is too thick I had to scoop the fish out of the shell of the batter. This is not a one off, it’s a shame really but maybe next time I’ll ask for a lightly battered fish.

Absolutely disgusting fish was inedible tough could not eat the fish and a lot of bits of just tough batter.Will never order again.

Food was fine but we only ordered 3 things and one of them was missing on delivery.

I don’t normally eat fish and chips as the quality varies so much. But on finding the Chinese takeaway shut visited this establishment in Benhall and was most impressed. I asked for a sample chip which I was given and as this tasted okay I ordered a large cod and small chips which I took back to my nearby Travelodge. I was completely blown away by the huge portion of fish which was incredible tasty in a nice not too overpowering batter. I ate every morsel. I will definitely visit this plaice 👍next time I’m in Cheltenham.

Ordered 2x SF chicken meals, only got one. Starving now I missed out on my dinner.

2nd time I have ordered a large battered sausage but got an unbattered sausage.

I drove to benhall expecting a "cone" of chips as I can't find anywhere that sells "cones" of chips so on the menu says cone of chips I drove all the way there to end up a tray of chips was disappointed 😞

Hair in food ..in chips ..got it delivered. It was 40 mins getting to me .not delivery peoples falt .. the staff are so slow at serving ..they act strange behind counter and talk about the customers .very rude .
