Absolutely superb fish and chips, crispy batter and crispy chips. Fish was cooked fresh to order. All staff were really friendly and helpful. Great value compared to other fish and chips places in Cheltenham. Would recommend 100%

I've been up and down the country going to all sorts of places and no one shop has managed to beat Lakesides' chips. I attend religiously to this great place. You meet great characters not only behind the counter but the front as well.

I’ve lived in this area all my life & always shopped for fish n chips elsewhere until the current owners took over several years ago. Now I wouldn’t dream of shopping elsewhere for fish n chips in Cheltenham. After 40 years of avoiding this chip shop they are now without a doubt the best chippy in the town.

This is a real gem of a place. Proper fish and chips, decent prices that won't break the bank and excellent friendly service. The fish is always a good size portion, with tasty crispy batter and perfectly cooked chunky pieces of cod, the chips are always good and the curry sauce is very much to my liking. If you want good fish and chips you won't find much better in Cheltenham.

Having moved to the area recently we found Lakeside on google search after reading the fantastic reviews decided to try them out,wow so pleased we did ,it’s the best fish & chips we have ever tasted ,lovely friendly,cheerful staff very pleasant when you phone your order in,you are given a order number ask what time you want to collect & you pay by contactless on collection so easy Highly recommend Lakeside Excellent fish & chips

It has been to long time for a meal from the Lake Side .. The fish was and is the best in Cheltenham.. If and it was a regular fish I had the large must be a Whale ( not Cod) . And the chips where very good too.. Must go again soon...

Delicious takeaway and good value for money. Half of other F&Ch takeaway/Deliveroo prices. Always busy with customers waiting for their freshly cooked meal to take home. Large battered cod only £4.50, portion of cod & chips £6.50. I always take large portion of chips separate (£3.00) and it will serve 2-3 people + 2 large portions of cod so dinner cost only £12.

My favourite chippy once a week, Excellent value and fast service considering the amount of customers they get, They must be good as i do not go anywhere else!!

I went here based purely on other reviews. It was a packed out Friday early evening. Staff friendly and efficient, food was tasty enough but the £3.00 ‘large’ portion of chips was laughably small and I don’t even have a big appetite. Disappointing.

We visited the shop on a busy Friday night. Our order was taken by a very friendly member of staff.

Not only is there a great gluten free menu, but the food tastes brilliant as well. Staff are very friendly, place is very clean and the food isn't greasy. Perfect, will definitely be coming more often. Worth the drive from Gloucester.

Ordered four cod and chips last night. All the food was hot and fresh. The batter was crisp and the fish white and flaky. The chips were fluffy with a slight outer crunch. Best of all the food was tasty - perfect. Would I go again - definitely

The best chippy around! All the staff are always polite and welcoming, they can get very busy due to how good they are, fair prices and an extensive menu which will suit the whole family! Gluten free options are available also!! Even on busy times you are served within a good quick time and the staff like to have a chat which adds that personal touch! Great service and food!!

Driving home phone call from grandson he would like chips and saugaes , so turn right and head for the chippy. What's good about this chip shop, the staff are great the choice of sea food is great they will grill fish, and they will fry it. This is the first time I'd been to The Lakeside Takeaway for years, but since moving to their side of town, I decided to give it a go. I was not disappointed in the least. The fish was cooked fresh, which meant waiting for it,but listening to the staff banter made the time fly. It was well worth it the wait as the fish was piping hot with thick white flesh & a beautiful crispy batter, which tasted great. The chips were chunky & cooked to perfection. Definitely worth another visit.

We visited the Lakeside after reading about its success in the paper. (It's a little bit out of the way for us).The large cod was a good portion and the batter tasty. We just had an easy family meal with really good quality, non greasy fish and chips, sausages, roe and curry sauce. And the service was excellent. We will definitely recommend it and will definitely go back to Lakeside.

We had a charity event for 60 people this week which included a fish and chip supper from Lakeside Takeaway. Cannot thank John enough. Fish and Chips arrived bang on time were fresh, hot and tasted fantastic. Everyone commented on how good they were.

I went to a charity quiz where the organiser ad arranged 59 portions of fish and chips and they were delicious - the fish was a good size and they managed to keep them all hot and arrived exactly on time. Everybody commented on how nice they were. 10 out of 10!!

These are the fish and chips you dream of, the best! Not greasy, not too much batter and the chips are to die for. Service is quick, and friendly.

Wow. I found this takeaway on Trip Advisor. We were on our way back from Broadway Tower Country Park to Birdlip and I searched for fish and chip takeaways in Cheltenham. This takeaway venue came up and although it doesn't have many reviews, it had the most very good to excellent reviews that were recent to my search. We were not disappointed. When we arrived it was really busy (it was a Friday, so not sure if this had anything to do with it). They took our order as soon as we walked through the door, and even asked if we wanted mushy peas or curry sauce. They wrapped it up in cardboard boxes (which in my opinion is great as this is recyclable and polystyrene boxes make the food all sweaty) and then put the boxes in a paper bag (also recyclable = thumbs up). The girl who handed me the bag even said be careful - make sure you hold the bottom of the bag :-). We waited until we got home to eat these. We were most definitely not disappointed. These are the best fish and chips I have taken away. The chips were crispy and not greasy. The batter was also sweet and not too greasy. I polished the lot off - and I struggled, but did not want to leave any as they were so good. And I have great pleasure in leaving feedback for this little hidden gem, as it deserves EXCELLENT feedback.

I was diagnosed with coeliac disease well over 10 years ago and have yearned ever since for tasty gluten free fish and chips. At last my craving has been satisfied (several times). No preordering required, chips are cooked in the gluten free fryer as well and it's available every day they are open. Love it (possibly a little too much) and the staff are very friendly.

The portions of chips are quite large, so most families could split a portion between them. They have won several awards, which speak for themselves. Give them a try if you are nearby - you will not be disappointed!

Due to being gluten intolerant I have not had fish and chips for years but a colleague recommended lakeside and I tried it last week. It was so yummy, will go again and they make sure all cooked separately and no cross contamination possible. Very friendly staff and well visited for non gluten free as well, people were queing on a Thursday evening.

Every Day is a Gluten Free Fish and Chips Day at Lakeside, just tell them when you order and the best fish and chips arrive deliciously tasty, every time. My wife and son are gluten free, and although I'm not - I always join them with the ask. Often (at other places this means a less than satisfactory portion) - here at Lakeside absolutely sensational and the staff are so nice and friendly. 100% recommended. Love it.

And you get the little crispy chips at the bottom of the paper!!! One of the best things is that they are all so genuinely friendly in there. Short of time and husband home imminently I ordered my gluten free fish and chips over the phone. The phone was answered instantly and very politely. The order was taken and I was assured it would be ready at 6pm. I arrived to find a queue of about 20 people. ...I ventured to the front to see if the order was ready. Like Mr. Benn, my order appeared and I paid and was GONE leaving the queue MYSTIFIED. What great fun! This fish and chip shop offers gluten free, specially cooked to order, EVERY night. They don't even make me feel stupid/fussy/neurotic for ordering them! They offer to include GLUTEN FREE VINEGAR. I was a devotee of another chip shop in the town but now I will shop nowhere else. In my opinion the food is better than the "Nationally Awarded" shop, in Whaddon, but, obviously, it has no adjoining dining area. That's ok, though, as I live one minute away by bicycle and it's lively to take the home!

A long established take away. Now run by John and staff, all of whom are polite, helpful and eager to serve you. The fish is always beautifully cooked, the chips are served in generous portions and there is a very varied menu. We wouldn't go anywhere else in Cheltenham for our favourite take away.

Used to always visit benhall or brockworth for fish and chips but after the lakeside went under new management I wouldn't ever go back to anywhere else but Lakeside Chippy! Every time I've been the food has been freshly prepared (they make you wait 5 minutes but I don't care as its fresh!), the staff are always friendly and the food is awesome - not greasy at all.

Visited here for the first time in 15 years! What a delight! Freshly cooked haddock in a crispy golden batter and an extremely generous portion of chips which were delicious. Staff were brilliant, friendly and great customer service. Food was wrapped in a grease proof 'mock newspaper' which I really liked, then wrapped in ordinary paper and carried home in a brown paper bag so condensation didn't build up. Top job all round.

Have had fish and chips from here a few times, always hot, tasty and fresh. Staff are friendly enough. A regular go to place when I can't be bothered to cook.
