Only or 2nd takeaway but it will not be our last. Great delivery but even better food. In our 20 years of local Chinese talkeaway this is without doubt the best by far. This applies not only to flavour and presentation but also value for money. Long may you prosper. Many thanks

Nice, hot and tasty food. There was an error on one item ordered however they rectified it immediately and did all they could do plus more to correct it. Recommend eating here. 😁👍😊

Absplutlybawful I ordered at 530 they said will b there by 630 630 they told me 730 amd then they told me 805 and it never turned up never use this place ever the one on the square is much better or the panda in Garlinge giv em a wide birth

I wanted some salt and chilli chips.On the website it said it was open till 1pm. My partner and I was there at 10.35 pm. It was shut and the lady spoke through the door and said they had sold out, disappointed. They should of put closed on their website.

So we went to the Royal Dragon in Birchington tonight 23rd of November at 22.35pm ,and we were told by the lady through the door that they had sold out of everything!?!? 😭, we only wanted a portion of salt and chilli chips, but online it said that it was open, no where else in Birchington was open (Chinese) so we have had to go home hungry 😭😭.

Best Chinese I've ever had, used to live behind them when I was younger and have never had a bad meal there once. Refuse to order Chinese from anywhere else. 10/10 amazing.

Food is very nice but make sure you check your order before leaving. They charged us for orders items that were not put in the bag. I will use them again to see if this can be resolved.

We usually order from the New Dragon in the square for our monthly treat but decided to give the Royal dragon a go. All the main dishes we had were nice, the Thai prawns being delicious but unfortunately the squid & dumplings were so over cooked & hard they were inedible. We were so disappointed. Sorry but back to the New Dragon for us

Not tried this takeaway for a while and I know they have changed ownership fairly recently, previous experiences were very good. I ordered 2 Thai curries (Beef red and Pork Green) and egg fried rice. Can't really say they were in any way authentic Thai,maybe I was expecting too much. Very bland and very little heat. Will not be so lazy next time and make my own !!

Lovely meal hot and freshly cooked best Chinese in a long while

If you're hungry don't bother with this takeaway. They are never able to stick to their timings and when you phone them up to ask where your order is there is no apology and basically it will arrive when it arrives!!! From now in we will avoid this takeaway.

Food was late, told 40 mins but arrived after 55 mins, however, the food was hot and enjoyable. ***IMPORTANT*** if anyone pays by card be warned they are using your details to purchase Apple Music. My partner had 10 x £9.95 transactions from 21:54, 4 hours after giving details to the restaurant.

We only use this take away as the food and prices are so good. Just one small complaint last time our curry was very dry. Not enough sauce.

The hot starter for two at £9.80 consisted: 2 tasteless and old pork ribs in a gloopy, inedible sauce, chicken satay was as tough and tasteless as old boots, small veg pancake roll (identical to Tesco’s frozen party starter range) and two quarter triangles of prawn toast. Nothing special about the Special House rice - simply a container full of boiled rice with slithers of wafer thin chicken, beef, pork and 1 prawn. The tastiest part of the meal was the complimentary prawn crackers. I don’t know if the Royal Dragon has a new chef but sadly, it’s no longer our favourite Chinese.

Good food but you have to wait 2.5+hrs for it. Unimpressed.

Still haven’t received my order. Have been waiting 2 hours 30mins so far.. initially told 45 mins. Was told over an hour ago it was ready to leave.

They still do an excellent Kung Po and the service is good. If you nip in to order it can take a while as they get very busy with deliveries and phone orders.

Have been using Royal Dragon for many years for takeaways, as have always found them exceptional & the food has always been amazing up until now. Ordered a take out this weekend & so disappointed. Food was so bland,very salty & not as fresh as previously,ended up throwing away. Has put us off from going back there again.

We ordered through just eat. The food turned up really late and when we called the restaurant the man on the phone was extremely useless. He became rude at times and didn’t seem to want to help resolve the problem, instead he offered to cancel our order after telling us it had already left the shop and got very sarcastic on the phone. He had no customer skills and need to be sacked

First order this evening and wow! Amazing! The chicken balls are incredible the sweet and sour pork Cantonese style is the best I've ever tasted everything was soooo good will defo be a family favourite takeaway from now on!!! Thank you all xx

On more than several occasions now they have failed to deliver a complete order, when rung back to ask them to redeliver the missing items they were not happy & actually the attitude was appalling, we will never use this restaurant again! Ruined our meal, the food has also declined in standards everything was over cooked, the ribs were mainly fat & bone! Spent £25 for a meal for 2 that went mostly in the bin! Very disappointed, must say the delivery drivers were brilliant, very understanding & apologetic unlike the restaurant staff!

We have been ordering from this Chinese for a number of years, and disappointed that recent orders haven’t lived up to previous experiences, our takeaway last Friday was very bland, not for the first time, their standard had definitely slipped

Had a takeaway last night, best I've ever eaten in 50 years. Really fresh, well seasoned with very little MSG. Wow what a find..... sensational.

Put an order in for food, told 45 minutes wait. 1hour later still nothing so rang to be told it's on its way. 15 minutes later, nothing. Ring again to be told 'oh it should be there'. Well obviously it's not. Told to wait another 10 minutes to see if food turns up. Still nothing. Call back, they hadn't even attempted to call the driver to check. Turns out the woman who took the order never put it through to the kitchen so an hour and a half wait for absolutely nothing. Complete joke! Don't waste your time.

The food is amazing! When you can order from there...supposedly open until 11pm its 9.30pm we've tried to order and yet again they're closed. So frustrating! It's not just happened during covid, it's happened many, many times before. We always go back because the food is so good and usually we try to order earlier but sometimes we just can't! They really need to publicise their delivery times!!

I made a phone call for a takeaway service. I was extremely disappointed with the customer service skills with the person on the other end of the phone being extremely rude, everything seemed too much hassle despite there being no alterations with any of my meals that I had ordered. This is not the first time I have been spoken to in this manner but after a year of not returning I though I would give it another go. However, I was extremely disappointed and this will without a doubt be the last time I will be returning. There are 2 other perfectly good Chinese takeaways in the same town both of which are very welcoming and are extremely polite with amazing food.

Last night 21st July we ordered a meal from the Royal Dragon Chinese restaurant in Birchington in Kent The meal was very substandard. The meat in the ribs and satay was dry and tough. The crispy shredded beef was floating in vinegar. The worst of all were the pineapple fritters They were covered is an inedible stodg We had to discard most of it. This meal was not cheap. I will admit the chow mien dish was good but certainly did not make up the rest of the meal To cap it all off when I phoned the following evening to complain it was told rudely I should have phoned the previous evening. The receptionist said she could not trace the order as it had past. Also she did not have time to talk as she had other customers I insisted the owner phone me back. She did but I was not really reassured by her promises I will never order food from this restaurant again and I would advise others to stay clear as well

Ordered a takeaway we were slightly out of the delivery area but were very obliging. Would certainly recommend. Food great and good value for money and arrived hot 5 stars

This has now changed and closed the restaurant so take away/delivery only. Food OK still. Only possible comment is that often food is available within ten minutes - in common with some other take aways of course. It does just beg the question how much food is already in the box. Still nice food though.

Nice little Chinese also serving Thai food. Reasonable prices and portions, my partner is fussy and she enjoyed the food.

We thought we’d try out a new takeaway - but wish we hadn’t bothered. Chicken chow mein was almost completely tasteless, the sweet and sour chicken was a bit better. The only real plus was the Peking chilli beef, which had a good flavour. We will look elsewhere in future.

Unfortunately the food is bad! We have just ordered a takeaway worth almost £60 for 6 adults & it’s hard to tell which is which other then the actual near colours to prove it! It all tastes the same & has absolutely no lovely flavours or spices! Totally devoid of taste & differentiation! Fortunately we are only on holiday so can order something more flavoursome when we return home! Worst Chinese I have ever had! If I was actually in the restaurant I would return my dish & ask for a refund - such a shame!

I was. VERY disappointed with our takeaway. The duck was very over cooked. The pork ribs were also dry and unpleasant. The prawn toast was also dry and the crust was burnt. I will not use them again and I would advise others to do the same Be warned. The cucumber and spring onions were well prepared

Website badly out of date, with old menu. When this was discussed with the Manager he became abusive and cancelled our order, but didn't tell us. When we rang up later he had told the long-suffering waitress not to do the order unless we picked it up.In short, good food but just prey you don't have to talk to the manager.

Had the best Chinese food in a long time. Walked in expecting your run of the mill takeaway. The place was packed. If you decide to dine in I'd advise booking your table. The telephone does not stop ringing for takeaways. The kitchen appears efficient to the point people arrived to collect their orders and the food appeared within minutes. Great timing, I was really impressed. When it came to eating our food, everyone enjoyed their meal, said how it was the nicest Chinese food they had eaten in a long time, mine was cooked to perfection, that's a big compliment from me.Looking forward to dining in next time.

Popped in for a takeaway and heard some chap saying his been eating here for 10 years so we thought this place was going to be great. Sadly we was very disappointed. The food is bland and had no flavour plus along wait. Definitely won't be returning could make a better Chinese at home.

Being a regular customer ordering 2 times a week, I ordered and when my food was delivered there was a hair in my food after chewing it and throwing up, I phoned up and asked to return the food and would like a refund the management started screaming on the phone saying that it was acceptable and no refund was to be given, I insisted that if no refund was to be given I would leave a bad review he banned me from the shop and told me he would “make sure” I wouldn’t leave a review, will definitely be advising people not to eat here. Rude and unacceptable.

Takeaway turn around is in good time. You get a decent portion of food, and it's always piping hot. Can't say much on service as I've only ordered takeaways. Reasonably priced.

We had moved back in the area and tried all of the takeaway Chinese locally in both Birchington and Westgate and this is by far the best and much more superior cooking. The owners are more than happy to help and always been a pleasure ordering and eating from this place

Myself and a friend decided to go for a meal in birchington 15/11/17 so we read various reviews about the Royal Dragon all were good except one,what a great choice we made, so many nice dishes to choose from we could not decide on various dishes so we went for the set menu C once again good choice the food was of high standard along with the service. We left there full and highly satisfied.

the owner is very rude and does not no how to treat and talk to her customers, the food is as bad as the staff and treatment you get, my chicken was a funny cloth and smelt so bad,don't go to this restaurant it will ruin your night.

This restaurant is fairly small with about half a dozen tables, so I'd suggest you book in advance if you want to guarantee a place. I expect much of their trade is takeaway.

Absolutely disgusting, avoid at all costs DO NOT EAT IN THIS RESTAURANT. Duck spring rolls were just duck skin & no meat chicken balls were over cooked on the outside & chicken was pink when I complained was given abuse by various members of staff who were quite vile. The place was in serious need of a good clean & decorating. Anyone who says this is a nice place to eat have obviously only ever eaten in public toilets. Staff & venue are both disgusting. It spoilt our anniversary. My suspicions were raised by the fact that at 8 o'clock on a thursday night the place was empty, even a member of staff was eating a McDonald's, which says it all. A thoroughly disgusting restaurant.

We popped in on a Monday evening expecting the restaurant to be empty but including us there were about 20 diners. The dining room is simply finished and the loo is basic, however the service is friendly & efficient. The food however is good; really good. I had the Duck Satay as a main course and it was sublime.

The Royal Dragon delivered a lovely meal to us at our camp site. It was tasty and the delivery option, made it even better.

The first place we head for when eating out in Birchington. Great food, great value.

Visiting the area for a weeks holiday in a flat along the sea front... had friends come over so we needed a takeaway that delivered. Spotted this place whilst walking along the high street so picked up a menu. Rang up early evening and it was delivered within the hour. Everything was piping hot and very tasty. For 6 of us it came to £44 which was great value. When we are in the area again we will definitely use again.

I am a vegan and have eaten many Chinese take always around birchington. I had some spring rolls from here. Had a conversation about their food and they said what I could and couldn't have. I brought my food home. Ate a spring roll to find it had meat in it! I am so angry I havnt eaten meat in 16 years. And Royal dragon have destroyed that by doing this. I will be telling people about this and am discussed by the way they handled it. Not happy

we were staying local and when we drove passed seemed to be busy. called in one night and it is very small inside and if their is a few of you best to make sure they have the room. tables to close for us but as the restaurant had just opened no other customers. lots to pick from and prices very good. food came out fresh and not long to wait. we sat by the window and this was a very busy for takeaways, we did hear several card users being asked for cash as they charge you for using your cards. The only negative I would say was that as I was driving the lemonade was very flat no fizz and the ice only made it worst.

We went with friends and had a set menu. All the food served to us was cooked to perfection. Good price too. Tables are very close together but we were lucky because it was quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful

Best Chinese Takeaway I think I have ever had. When I ordered the Special Fried rice I was asked if I wanted it 'Wet' or 'Dry' (?)I asked for it WET and was pleasantly shocked at what we received. The rice was at the bottom but was covered in large chunks of meat and prawns etc. It was large enough to be a complete meal and with leftovers to share!We also ordered 3 different Thai curries and these were fantastic and certainly on a par with a genuine Thai restaurant. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

I would only have take away meals from here because they have their family doing homework at the back of the tiny restaurant making you feel quite uncomfortable. Takes up to an hour for home service (local) but the flavours outweigh all the rest of the local take a ways by far.

Went on a quite Thursday evening and we were the only customers for a sit down meal, but they were very busy with take away orders. Service very good and attentive, food very good and tasty, because they were not overly busy actually had time to speak with the chef ( very unusual in a Chinese restaurant. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Attracted by the choice of veggie food we had a meal at this restaurant. Not only were the staff very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and perfect portion size.We arrived at the right time and food was served within 15minutes of ordering. This restaurant is popular and was getting busy by the time we left. We would definitely come back here.

Have had takeaways from this chinese previously and have always been good. Booked a table for 8 on a Saturday evening and was very impressed with both food and service. Had a lovely friendly waitress and food was served piping hot and fresh tasting had a variety of dishes and all were good. Although a tad small inside still a great place to eat nice relaxing atmosphere so we stayed and had a few drinks after meal. Reasonable prices drinks a bit expensive

We have never eaten in at the Royal Dragon but I find myself compelled to write another review about their takeaway service.We had friends coming for dinner and being foodies, we ALWAYS cook, however having had a tough few months we were not that organised and decided to get a takeaway from our favourite Royal Dragon. I got increasingly nervous nearer the time that the food would be as good as normal and that our guests would enjoy it.I rang earlier in the day to put our order and asked for a specific (within 30 min) delivery time as our friends were timebound.The food turned up on time, roasting hot and fresh and it was truly brilliant, I was proud to serve it up from our “local” takeaway. My husband just adores the aromatic lamb, my favourite is the Chefs Special Beef Peking Style along with crispy chilli beef, but the Szechuan dishes are all fab too. We also ordered pork with honey and lemon which was delicious.I am almost scared to dine in here as it is so great as a takeaway I just want to keep it at that. We have never regularly had takeaway food but the Royal Dragon is just amazing so we keep going back.The consistency, quality and service here are brilliant an example to other restaurants I would suggest. Well done Royal Dragon and keep it us you are appreciated.

We live in Birchington, and regularly eat in or take away from the Royal Dragon, it's by far the best Chinese restaurant we've ever eaten in, freshly cook authentic food!

Having returned recently from the Far East we were looking to find a restaurant to bring back fond memories of eating out and came across this small establishment in the village of Birchington. A great find. Although small it is "cosy" and the food is excellent. The menu is extensive and caters for just about all tastes. We had a variety of dishes (there were 4 of us) Lemon Chicken, Sizzling Steak, Foo Yong, Prawn Curry, Mixed Hors D’oeuvres and Vegetable soup accompanied by steamed and fried rice. All of these dishes were freshly prepared and excellent in taste - even the Prawn Crackers along with the tasty dip,which were on the table before our meals arrived were fresh and tasty . As for value the bill averaged £16 per person which included the drinks. Note however it is closed on Sundays and only opens at 5.30 pm on Monday to Thursday. Friday/Sat it also opens for lunch.

The food is always well cooked and prepared and very tasty indeed! We have never been disappointed and really enjoy the meal very much. So if you are thinking of a great Chinese you should give them a try. You will be pleased you did!!

Being lovers of Szechuan food, we thought we would order a take away from here. We also had home delivery which was an extra £1. Of course they have an extensive menu not just Szechuan but our choices were very good, not at all greasy and cooked perfectly, that is, not mushy vegetables. The delivery arrived 5 minutes before they estimated, so happy customers! Their prices are reasonable. Their telephone number is 01843 840888. They are closed on Sundays. I ordered for delivery at 8pm, the lady said it would take an hour, after an hour & half wait I called up, she then said it was on its way, after waiting another half an hour I get a phone call saying they lost our ticket and our food was never cooked, the guy apologised and said they could cook it now and bring it in 20mins, my partner then spoke to him and he was so rude to him, we said it would be polite to have a complimentary meal and he shouted "I won't give u something for nothing" then eventually shouted he would give us 15% off the bill, when we asked how much it would then be he said oh work it out yourself! In the end we said we don't want there food and will never be ordering from them again!! Real disappointed as this was our first time ordering!!

As visitors and having been out cycling all day, we decided to have a take away on our return. We looked online and came across Royal Dragon and ordered a meal (Set Menu B to be precise). I just wanted to say that we thought it was amazing. There was loads and far too much for the two of us but it was all very tasty and would recommend to anyone!

We are fortunate in Birchington in having a really good choice of eating places. We occasionally eat in at the Royal Dragon but more often have a take a way. Never disappointed, always excellent and very tasty and hot whatever our choice. Sometimes just even have a "quick omelette and chips" also very good and filling. We took our good friend there to eat in recently and she commented as we drove home that "it was the best Chinese food she had ever tasted." Now of course she wants to come and stay again and of course eat at the RD. Thanks to the friendly staff and the great chef for really good food. Only sorry they don't open on Sundays. Back in soon.
