I do like the consistency between the canary wharf branch and Baker Street branch for service and atmosphere. After shopping and finishing earlier I wasn't sure were to go for asian food in the area and was glad to see a recognised name. Food quality and variety slightly differs from what is offered on the canary wharf branch but the main selections are the same. The Dover sole used for their fish dishes I felt were great and tasted great. Overall large enough venue for big group and parties and also still intimate enough for a couple to simply walk in and have a rich Chinese cuisine experience.

This is a nice and popular restaurant in a convenient location. We didn't book the table and was told that could have the table for an hour and a half. We ordered a lot of food and luckily wasn't asked to leave before we could finish. It offered positive dining experience. Hoever, a word of warning - don't order Lotus Leaf Wrapped Rice or Monk Veggie Pot. I had never had such bad dishes before while these two were common and never going wrong Chinese dishes.

The downward spiral of RC in terms of service and food quality has been phenomenal. My husband and I went there yesterday for a midweek dinner and could not have been more disappointed, especially as I have fond memories of lunches and dinners at RC ( at other branches too) over the last 20 odd years . First as we waited to be seated, we saw a shabby printout at the reception area notifying that they do not serve alcohol and guests can get their own! We were then seated at the table and handed the menus. Whilst I selected from the menu, my husband traipsed to the neaby CoOp to buy a bottle of wine. After waiting for ages, the waiter came over to take our order and was surprised when I asked for certain items. He then informed us that we were given the wrong menus and none of the items were available. His tone was curt , short, almost irritated .The starters arrived without any serving spoons. There was another very long wait before we had to ask someone to take our mains order . This was followed by yet another long wait and a reminder before the order came out. The chicken dish was not fresh and the chicken meat so tough that you probably needed a saw to cut it. The mocktail that I ordered was underwhelming at best. The scant staff were non attentive, there was no eye contact ( all moving around looking at the floors ) and disconnected. We also saw customers walking up to the staff with their payment cards to pay the bill, after having waited for ages. I gave my feedback at the time of payment but the disinterested staff member muttered something about tight immigration rules and difficulty in finding staff and the restaurant staff being students. Overall a really poor experience and we think this was our last visit to RC.

What can I say?!! One of the best Chinese restaurants in London! Love it. Comfortable atmosphere, gr8 service and super food and their dim sum are a must. Some of my favourite dishes are shredded smoked chicken (the best I've tasted), shredded crispy duck, sweetcorn chicken soup, fried garlic and pepper squid, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, vegetarian fried string beans, Szechuan prawns or prawns in black bean sauce, veg/mixed fried rice, singapore noodles, and mango pudding amongst many, many others. No lunch bookings taken - first come first served. Bookings only for dinner - book in advance as it does get booked out v quickly. Expect to wait in a queue at weekend lunchtimes - so go well in time. Highly recommended! Prices increased quite a bit.

I was particularly impressed by their zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) during my visit close to the Dragon Boat Festival. They were delicious and tasted better than most I have had in Hong Kong, I dare to say. A minor suggestion would be to turn the lights up so the restaurant’s atmosphere wouldn’t feel so “dim”, given the wallpapers were all black. They serve recycled food they scrape off other customers' plates. They snatch your food from the table before you even manage to finish it, so that they can recycle it to someone else. They cruise around, watching people's tables so that they can do that. They did this to us several times during the same sitting. You literally have to pull the plate back out of the waiter's hand if you want to finish your meal. Our shredded duck was served cold and totally dry. I was told after the first course by one male waiter that he was leaving my dirty cutlery for me to reuse for all the subsequent courses. I was not brought fresh cutlery again during the whole sitting of 3 courses. Our tablecloth was soiled, and they made no effort to clean it. We had to use napkins to cover the dirt out of our sight. The female staff member, a Chinese in her 40s with long hair, and wearing a black trouser suit (she was the only female staff member that evening wearing a black trouser suit, so she may have been supervisor), was rude to me while giving me a cussion to support my back because their chairs are uncomfortable. She made remarks in her language under her breath in anger. She speaks sufficient English, and it would not have been necessary for her to speak in her language at all while attending on us. Another male waiter took our orders for a desert (4th course of the sitting). After waiting a while for our desert, we were told that they wouldn't serve our desert after all because they had someone else coming, and that they needed our table back.

My recent experience at Royal China was incredibly disappointing. The prices were outrageous – £17.50 for a simple side of Chinese broccoli is frankly insulting. But the real issue was the food temperature. When our dishes arrived, everything was lukewarm at best. My father specifically pointed out that the broccoli was barely warm. Instead of apologising or offering to rectify the issue, the server argued with us. He even went so far as to place his hand under the plate and claim it was perfectly warm. We politely yet firmly explained that the temperature was unacceptable and requested they speak to the chef about reheating it properly. We specifically asked them to replace it not to just microwave it. Unfortunately, the server's attitude was dismissive and borderline rude. He roughly placed the plate back on the table with the broccoli still lukewarm. He then returned and took it away. After waiting for over 20 minutes, when all mains were completed by us, the broccoli appeared. This time, it was scorching hot – the server couldn't even hold the plate comfortably. This entire ordeal took an unnecessary amount of time and left us feeling frustrated and disrespected and they charged us for everything anyway. I wandered which table this Chinese broccoli was going to to next. It's incredibly disheartening that the wait staff would try to gaslight us about the food temperature. Customers shouldn't be made to feel like they're imagining things. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and it certainly won't win back customers. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Royal China anytime soon. I hope if you the reader are disrespected you will not tolerate this as they are rude to almost everyone. Continue to disrespect your clients and you will see how fickle success can be. No business is above the need to offer respectful service to clients, especially those with genuine concerns. I am sorry to be so hard, but I have to be as hard as we were treated to get my points across here.

The Royal China in Baker Street and its associated Restaurants offer probably the best Dim Sum in London - I was very sad when the Bayswater branch closed. Reading some of the other reviews, one sees a distinct lack of understanding of how the place operates. The regular staff run the 'front of house' and take your order, but the staff who deliver the food to your table may not understand much english. The food arrives as soon as it is cooked, not all at once. So one has time to eat each dish whilst it is hot, rather than all arriving together and getting cold. Having to queue is normal, so its best to try to arrive outside peak times. It is well worth the effort.

This is my go to restaurant on Baker Street each time I am in London. Staff are always friendly, service is quick and the food is very flavorful.

Our friend took us there. Was expensive with a very limited dim sum menu.

Decent chinese! Bit pricey but worth a visit and it’s nice to go out for a meal rather than ordering a takeaway. Only thing we missed was the dim sum, they don’t serve it after 4pm!

店内が広いのでなぜか安心します。何を食べてもそれなりに美味しいし、サービスもまあま、お高そうに見えて、そうでもありません。大根もちがとても美味しいので、また食べたいと思います。お友達と気軽にランチに行ける場所です。

I visited here with 3 other adults and a young child for dinner and was seated in a lovely spot near the corner. I cannot complain about the service - nothing outstanding but no complaints. We ordered roast duck, seafood noodles, crispy squid, egg fried rice, beef in oyster sauce and honey roast pork. I must say the main meals were delicious so again, no complaints there and our bellies were satisfied. The desserts however, were a huge disappointment and incredibly overpriced - £6.50 for lychees in syrup?! £6.80 for almond tofu with fruit cocktail?! Canned lychees are £1.50 in Sainsburys and canned fruit cocktail is 90p! LOL. All they did was put a little in a bowl! The desserts are definitely an afterthought in this restaurant and as a dessert lover I would not return to this restaurant purely based on that.

There were two of us for lunch. We arrived around 12:15 p.m., we hardly had to wait. We only had dim sum. It was very good, very fine. Very close to what is done in Hong Kong. Technically nothing to say about the textures, the fineness of the dough. The service is fast and efficient. I can only recommend.

The food here was very tasty and hot. But staff not interested in interacting with the customer at all. They put the food on the table and walked away. No explanation of food or how was your food . Then when the bill came up there was an “ optional “ service charge. I told waitress I did not want to pay it she actually asked “ why”!! What a thing to ask !! Especially when it is optional very rude staff

Après 75 minutes de queue, ticket en main, bravant les courants d'air de Baker Street, nous parvenons enfin au graal. La réputation d'excellence précède cet établissement mais nous satisfait moyennement. Bref, "little" déception. Nous avons commandé des "prawn dumpling", du "minced pork dumpling", des "pan fried gyosas" et un "duck chili BB sauce". Service efficace. Total à 3 = 135,26 £ ... ce qui n'est pas donné

There are several royal china restaurants in London. I tried all of them, somehow the Royal China at BakerSt is always better than others. the fired soft crab is one of the best dishes and dim sum also quite decent. During the year of Dragon, spring festival period has chef selected celebration menus.

I have been going to the Bayswater branch for years and this is my first time in Baker Street. I read some negative reviews and wondered what happened to those people? I have a great time today with 14 of us celebrating a family birthday. We knew there’s a queue and didn’t have to wait too long before we all sat down. We ordered lots of dim sum and all very fresh and piping hot. Some of them, for example the beef dumplings were a bit rough in texture but all the others are excellent. The waitresses were tireless and responded well to every request. We bought a large birthday cake and candles, these were presented to us after the meal in a gilded cake stand with fresh plates and forks. All the leftovers were packed away nicely for us to take home. The floor manager was particularly attentive and not because I spoke in Cantonese, some of us got equally well treated when they asked in English. We need to treat the catering workers with respect as it’s a demanding profession and they in tune will reciprocate with a kind service.

Nice food but no different to any other Chinese , can’t complain it came quickly and tasted good. We were asked around 5 times within a 5 minute period if we were ready to order and felt it was a bit of a cattle market to get us in and out for the next customer

We went there on a Sunday to dine in, and from the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. The guy at the door, who is supposedly the manager, was shockingly rude and mean. He told us, if we wanted to eat outside, we’d have to pay first—which is fine, but we hadn't even decided what to order yet. When we asked to sit inside because we might want to order more, he glared at us and, in the most condescending and hostile tone imaginable, told us to either pay and sit outside or stand around for 20–30 minutes. The place was practically empty, yet he still made us wait! To make things even worse, while we waited, he let in people who arrived after us, for absolutely no reason other than to make us feel unwanted. When he finally walked away, another staff member noticed us standing around and seated us immediately. Inside, almost all the tables were empty! This guy had us standing outside for absolutely nothing. It’s like he took some twisted pleasure in making us wait. Honestly, it felt like he was judging us based on how we looked and decided he didn’t want us there. The level of rudeness and unprofessionalism was shocking. I’ve never been so disappointed to be treated this way when I just wanted a meal. Unbelievable.

I went out with my friends and the food smelt really weird. At the end we got the bill and they charged us more than what the price was originally. It was 5p more but the waiter just said “it’s 5p more,so?” and he was mocking at us and ended up giving us 5p change. It might sound silly but realistically don’t be over charging your customers, whatever the price is on the menu should be to the final bill, simple as.

I didn't get good services, they swore at me when I asked what was inside and that food simply was not good, close down this shop, before you kill people with your poisonous food. I got scammed off my money, they still owe me my money
