Higher end white cloth Chinese restaurant that was able to accommodate our group last minute on a Saturday without reservation. Good food quality and competent table service. Starter soup portion could have been a bit bigger.

Great food, service and made a great work lunch.

This is our go to chinese restaurant whenever whe’re London. We always have the deep-fried babysquid with spicy salt and the lemon chicken. Its a Big restaurant and the sound level is quite High, but its the sound of happy people have a nice time out.

Food was amazing, loved the round tables with the revolving plate to make sharing easier. Staff were attentive and the food came out fresh and delicious

Authentic and delicious dim sum in town. We were so satisfied with the food quality. However, it took around 30 minutes to wait for a table in Sunday lunch time.

Wow the last time I was here was like 25 years ago and the food is still fantastic. I enjoyed it just as I use to back in the days. I can’t believe their are still keep high standard.

Wonderful food and atmosphere, if you are thinking of coming out to eat or having an event like a wedding reception here, I'd highly encourage you. Our couple chose this to have their reception and tea ceremony, it was amazing!

Amazing dim sum - great quality and tasty. We ordered the hot and sour soup, duck pancakes, dumplings and Cheung fen.

This restaurant serves good quality food with a relaxing atmosphere. Service is good. You will have full confidence that your guests will feel delighted if you invited them to there.

The food was very average, the prawn dish had so much chilli that it was almost inedible. The beef with spring onion and ginger had a thick gravy like texture. Overall I have had much better takeaway meals at quarter the price

What can I say?!! One of the best Chinese restaurants in London! Love it. Comfortable atmosphere, gr8 service and super food and their dim sum are a must. Some of my favourite dishes are shredded smoked chicken (the best I've tasted), shredded crispy duck, sweetcorn chicken soup, fried garlic and pepper squid, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, vegetarian fried string beans, Szechuan prawns or prawns in black bean sauce, veg/mixed fried rice, singapore noodles, and mango pudding amongst many, many others. No lunch bookings taken - first come first served. Bookings only for dinner - book in advance as it does get booked out v quickly. Expect to wait in a queue at weekend lunchtimes - so go well in time. Highly recommended! Prices increased quite a bit.

Food is excellent, service not so. Asked four separate staff if we could order and each time they responded with I will get someone. 30min wait to order, when the starters did arrive we were given about 10min before staff tried to clear them as our mains had arrived.

As usual the restaurant is very busy on Sunday. As we come around 1:30 so waiting about 15 minutes to be seated. Barbecued Pork Crispy is delicious. Other foods we ordered are also on the standard.

No dedicated waiter, have to raise your hand and any available waiter will serve and take order, no alcohol served, take your own.

Big restaurant with so many tables & quiet noisy. Fried rice was very good but the prawn toast was horrible. Honestly mixed feelings but one thing i genuinely did not like is that the waiters are NOT friendly not helpful at all.

My wife and I visited this well-known establishment to celebrate our anniversary. However, the overall atmosphere was disappointing, with staff appearing disinterested in their work. They repeatedly placed dishes awkwardly at the edge of the table. Once or twice, I could understand , but it became a consistent issue. The food seemed pre-prepared and merely reheated, which left us feeling greatly disappointed. The taste was underwhelming, and the service was far from friendly, making me question how this place earned its Michelin recognition. At one point, a spoon was dropped from a tray being cleared, and dishes were handled with excessive noise and carelessness. Frustrated, I eventually asked to speak with a member of staff and inquired about her name. She told me her name was “Amanda.” After that, perhaps feeling self-conscious, she began to clear the table more cautiously. This was supposed to be a restaurant representing Chinese cuisine and culture, but the staff's discriminatory and unfriendly behavior would discourage anyone from returning. It was my first experience at an authentic Chinese restaurant, and sadly, it will also be my last. The staff should remember that such rudeness reflects poorly not just on the establishment but on their country. I hope they will strive to perform their duties with professionalism moving forward. To anyone considering visiting this place, I urge you to save your time and money. It is, without a doubt, a disappointment. This version keeps the tone firm yet respectful, with a gentlemanly approach to expressing dissatisfaction. My wife and I went to this famous restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. However, the overall experience was disappointing and the staff didn't seem happy to work. They placed the dishes on the edge of the table multiple times. It's understandable once or twice, but it keeps happening. The food looked like it had been cooked in advance and then reheated, which was very disappointing. The taste was terrible and the service was so unfriendly that it made me wonder how this restaurant got Michelin recognition. One time the waiter dropped a spoon while clearing the plates and the plates were cleared very rudely and loudly. Unable to bear it any longer, I called a waiter and asked her name. She told me her name was "Amanda". After that, maybe she felt a little guilty and started to carefully clear the table. As a restaurant that represents China, the staff displayed such unfriendly and discriminatory behavior that such an attitude will make anyone never patronize this restaurant again. This was my first real Chinese restaurant experience, and sadly, will be my last. Employees should remember that such disrespect not only brings shame to the restaurant, but also affects the reputation of the country. I hope they will treat their work more professionally in the future. I advise anyone planning to visit here to save your time and money. This is definitely a let down. This expresses strong dissatisfaction while maintaining a polite tone.

We normally have excellent service whenever we go there. It was substandard this time around. We had to ask for water, soy sauce multiple times and still not served. The food was average, some dishes had little or no salt. I am hoping this was just a bad day for them

Excellent place to have perfect Chinese dishes served in an elegant setting. The service is perfect and each dish is cooked to perfection. I like everything in this restaurant so I am biased, but try to be objective. I will of course return as soon as possible.

I do like the consistency between the canary wharf branch and Baker Street branch for service and atmosphere. After shopping and finishing earlier I wasn't sure were to go for asian food in the area and was glad to see a recognised name. Food quality and variety slightly differs from what is offered on the canary wharf branch but the main selections are the same. The Dover sole used for their fish dishes I felt were great and tasted great. Overall large enough venue for big group and parties and also still intimate enough for a couple to simply walk in and have a rich Chinese cuisine experience.

Excellent food, service staff temperaments vary— some verges on rude and didn’t get order right— but the food is worth the visit!

My favourite place in London to go for dim sum

This is a nice and popular restaurant in a convenient location. We didn't book the table and was told that could have the table for an hour and a half. We ordered a lot of food and luckily wasn't asked to leave before we could finish. It offered positive dining experience. Hoever, a word of warning - don't order Lotus Leaf Wrapped Rice or Monk Veggie Pot. I had never had such bad dishes before while these two were common and never going wrong Chinese dishes.

It's an institution, and delivered like one. Great food, pretty good service (functional, don't expect any emotional), and a fun enough atmosphere. This was for Sunday dim sum.

The downward spiral of RC in terms of service and food quality has been phenomenal. My husband and I went there yesterday for a midweek dinner and could not have been more disappointed, especially as I have fond memories of lunches and dinners at RC ( at other branches too) over the last 20 odd years . First as we waited to be seated, we saw a shabby printout at the reception area notifying that they do not serve alcohol and guests can get their own! We were then seated at the table and handed the menus. Whilst I selected from the menu, my husband traipsed to the neaby CoOp to buy a bottle of wine. After waiting for ages, the waiter came over to take our order and was surprised when I asked for certain items. He then informed us that we were given the wrong menus and none of the items were available.His tone was curt , short, almost irritated .The starters arrived without any serving spoons. There was another very long wait before we had to ask someone to take our mains order . This was followed by yet another long wait and a reminder before the order came out. The chicken dish was not fresh and the chicken meat so tough that you probably needed a saw to cut it. The mocktail that I ordered was underwhelming at best.The scant staff were non attentive, there was no eye contact ( all moving around looking at the floors ) and disconnected. We also saw customers walking up to the staff with their payment cards to pay the bill, after having waited for ages. I gave my feedback at the time of payment but the disinterested staff member muttered something about tight immigration rules and difficulty in finding staff and the restaurant staff being students. Overall a really poor experience and we think this was our last visit to RC.

Avoid if you want a pleasant atmosphere that includes good wait staff and timely service. My family and I chose this restaurant as my daughter craved dim sum. We waited a long time for someone to even greet us and seat us, despite the fact that there were plenty of empty tables. Once we were seated and decided on our order, no one came over for another 15-20 minutes. I tried to flag some of the servers but they couldn't be bothered. I finally decided we were going to walk out, which is when someone finally came over. Once we gave our order, the older female server literally yanked the menus out of our hands. The food - when it finally arrived- was just ok. Portions were small for the price. Definitely not worth the unpleasant experience.

Great dim sum and I make it a MUST visit whenever I am in London. Unfortunately they have stopped selling alcohol so I can’t have my glass of wine with my meal.

i recently visited royal china and i can say the food and atmosphere was amazing , however what stood out to me the most , above all, was the wonderful experience vivianne provided , she made us feel very welcomed and comfortable, and was extremely well mannered so 10/10 experience would come again .

What on earth with the service. Poured remaining soy sauce from a cheung fun onto a bag I had on a seat. Then have to search around and put hand up for any service. Staff look totally lethargic and want to be elsewhere. Pricing suggests the service should be at a higher level. That they still get decent business is testament to the food but they should do better. Should be the institution that it is.

Déconseillé, car service ne correspond pas au prix demandé. On commande 4 potages et 4 plats. On reçoit d'abord 1 seul plat et pas les potages. Je remballe le plat et demande les potages. On reçoit 3 potages, le dernier arrive quand les 3 autres sont finis. Pour les plats, la serveuse ne prend même pas la peine de descendre les 3 marches à côté de notre table pour demander si elle peut servir les plats. Bref, on serait mieux servi dans un café du coin. 136 € pour 4, c'est inacceptable et même pas un mot d'excuses. Quand à la qualité des mets, on peut dire qu'elle est bonne pour un chinois, sans plus.

Don't believe the hype, the food is distinctly average compared to Hong Kong. It is perfectly adequate but don't expect Hong Hong levels of tastiness. Pork belly and egg tarts were very good. Most others were meh.

The best Chinese restaurant in London It’s my first choice every time I come London

Had gone with colleagues to entertain a client guest. Ambience is good and very spacious restaurant, surprisingly not noisy. We tried Prawn and veg dumplings, were freshly made and very soft. For main course we opted for Fried rice with fish and chicken and Veg fried rice, would say they were fine. But you should not miss the mango pudding, very yummy.

My favorite Chinese in all of London that I've been consistently going to for years. Still the best. Recommend the dimsum especially on a Sunday afternoon. You will have to take a number and queue but so worth it.

The food was beautifully presented, very good quality and delicious. The chefs obviously can cook brilliantly, very much appreciated and enjoyed. The serving staff do their bit but there is no friendly chat or craic, very austere. The assistants try to chat but their English is poor, they try so hard - other staff should take note. It’s a real shame, after paying short of £200 and regular visitors we most likely won’t be back.

Very Slow Service Food is excellent

Came here many years ago and this restaurant remained as popular as ever. Glad to know that they have maintained a high standard by serving good quality dim sums and desserts! I was particularly impressed by their zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) during my visit close to the Dragon Boat Festival. They were delicious and tasted better than most I have had in Hong Kong, I dare to say. A minor suggestion would be to turn the lights up so the restaurant’s atmosphere wouldn’t feel so “dim”, given the wallpapers were all black. Other than that, this restaurant deserves a thumbs up for every aspect.

The dim sum tastes comparable to the quality of Hong Kong restaurants, and the ingredients are abundant and fresh. There are a lot of customers on Sundays, so if you don’t want to queue, it’s recommended to come 5 minutes before the market opens and wait to be seated.

This place has authentic chinese food. Trust me I've tried my fair share of chinese food. Nothing beats royal china!!

Food is so delicious and excellent quality.. I have been here for more than 10 times .. I really loved it and enjoy the taste and varieties of delicious Chinese Food, portion sizes are great.. pricing was sensible too .. service was nice and friendly too .. If you go here, go for the food. there is no service. unfortunately, the old educate the young, in bad manners, neglecting customers. takes only rice, without offering more. serves starters after dinner is served. when you needs something, so the old ladies overlook you 100%. so, go There ONLY for the food, and think this is a restaurant that give poor service. there were more people at the other restaurants. wonder why. the food STRONG 4, almost wondering about the number 5. But servicen 0. Rude personal.

'Discretionary service charge', please educate your employees if they do not know what this term means as they've forced customers to pay which's absolutely ridiculous (claiming that this would go 100% to the team and this asian lady even told us that the service charge is not that expensive after we split the bill)? This is an absurd attitude towards customers and definitely wouldn't recommend people to come visit. One of the best gastronomic experiences in the city! Absurdly delicious, everything!!

Royal China offers an enticing mix of flavors. Their sweet & sour chicken is a standout, perfectly balanced and crispy. The spicy dumplings are packed with flavor, a true delight. However, the duck was disappointingly dry, lacking the expected succulence. Despite this, a visit is worthwhile for their stellar dishes.

We were waiting for more than twenty minutes but no one came.

A very traditional Cantonese style restaurant serving dim sum at lunchtime with a wide range of dishes throughout the day. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly unfortunately this is a very busy restaurant and I could see they were under staffed. There food was delicious but be prepared to wait.

Amazing traditional Chinese restaurant, reservation is advised, but we were able to get a table during lunch time wirh no reservation. Food is amazing, went for dim sums mostly which are to die for.

One one need places for dim sum in London. Good variety of dishes all perfectly executed. The xiao long bao, the dumpling skin was nice and thin, filled generously with a soup full of flavour. Most dumplings come in a portion of 3. Great if you are a small group, if you are a large group you will need to offer multiples. The restaurant is large and is quite nice. We went at 1pm on a Saturday and we got a ticket at the entrance and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table of 2. A nice buzz to this restaurant.

Food is going downhill here and getting very expensive, today the salt and pepper squid was very overcooked, the dumplings in chili oil were totally raw. Service is terrible I had to get up after waving down so many waiters that ignored you. No apology just a reticent will send it back to kitchen . Totally put off the rest of meal

Lovely food, had such a lovely time

We have been to several high end and busy restaurants. But never has it been that nobody came to take our order for more than 15 mins. We let the severs know and they kept saying someone will be there shortly. We even waved to the hostess and she would just nod and walk away. Yet this wasn’t something that a simple apology wouldn’t make your patrons feel better. We didn’t get either. The hostess approached us like she was doing us a favor. Thankfully the food was quite good. My son in law recommended this place as well because the food is amazing. Hopefully my review sends them a message to improve their attitude.

They serve recycled food they scrape off other customers' plates. They snatch your food from the table before you even manage to finish it, so that they can recycle it to someone else. They cruise around, watching people's tables so that they can do that. They did this to us several times during the same sitting. You literally have to pull the plate back out of the waiter's hand if you want to finish your meal. Our shredded duck was served cold and totally dry. I was told after the first course by one male waiter that he was leaving my dirty cutlery for me to reuse for all the subsequent courses. I was not brought fresh cutlery again during the whole sitting of 3 courses. Our tablecloth was soiled, and they made no effort to clean it. We had to use napkins to cover the dirt out of our sight. The female staff member, a Chinese in her 40s with long hair, and wearing a black trouser suit (she was the only female staff member that evening wearing a black trouser suit, so she may have been supervisor), was rude to me while giving me a cussion to support my back because their chairs are uncomfortable. She made remarks in her language under her breath in anger. She speaks sufficient English, and it would not have been necessary for her to speak in her language at all while attending on us. Another male waiter took our orders for a desert (4th course of the sitting). After waiting a while for our desert, we were told that they wouldn't serve our desert after all because they had someone else coming, and that they needed our table back.

For good Chinese food, I always come here! The service is lovely and the food is amazing! I ordered the pork dumplings, pork, vegetables and noodles and everything was delicious. The pork was soft and the vegetables were flavoured perfectly. The dessert was amazing too! I would recommend coming mid-day in order to get the full selection of dumplings. A but pricey but I think the food and service is great.

Food was decent, but service wasn't great

Excellent quality food. The service leaves a lot to be desired: very slow, inattentive, no attention to detail. Ambience is average. However, if you are looking for excellent Chinese food in London then it's certainly worth giving Royal China a go!

The atmosphere was royal, quick sitting and food served quickly. Excellent service, the staff took time to explain and go through the menu. Roast duck, dumpling soup, goyoza and vegetable hot pot were all super tasty and no GMO.

Price on the side, which is not a problem if they produce delicious food and premium service. Service is definitely below par and the food, some not edible like the char siew bun was sour. When i walked in and the receptionist can't even respond in Cantonese or Chinese should have given me a clue of what kind of "Chinese" restaurant this is. Utterly disappointed despite being highly recommended by my relative here.

The food was delicious! Amy, the lady who served us, was so lovely, friendly and helpful. Great service and although we did have to wait over 30 mins to get a table, the food was well worth the wait. We've been here a few times and we highly recommend it.

Place to go for authentic Cantonese dishes in high quality and Chinese restaurant ambient. Extremely friendly and accommodating service. Our table was served by Long from Fujian: he was super friendly and attentive to our guest with gluten-free diet requirement. Highly recommend!

When you open the menu, you'll find everything you want to eat! And when you order it, everything is wonderful and delicious. It's been a long time since I was impressed by Chinese food.

Dining time is limited to 90 minutes was something I didn't expect for a restaurant at this price range. But the food is generally good and probably one of the best Cantonese dim sum restaurants in London.

A great place for dim sum, other dishes are just so so.

The food was absolutely terrible. The glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf was dry and bitty - texture was nothing like glutinous rice. The wonton soup was just salt water with spring onions. The jasmine rice was bad quality. Quite expensive so something so bad. Head to goldmine in Chinatown or better yet Dim Sum Duck in King’s Cross Service was fine. Atmosphere was fine. As least the toilets were clean.

After a tiring day of art visits, strolling through the parks, it was time for dinner, a hot Oha to conclude the day, a combination of different dishes, everyone ate and tasted, there was nothing left, even the vegetarian got manatee soup and rice with manatees, the world was full, everyone ate until end of the plate,

Worst customer service experience ever ! Booked at table of 15 for a birthday dinner few weeks ago. I forgot my back pack at the restaurant that day, and called back the next day to make sure was there and they confirmed that they had it. Unfortunately I don't live in London and went to collect it 2 weeks later, just to be told that they throw it away. Throwing away my back pack ???? Without out calling back at my reservation number or emailing me ???? Disgusting experience.

Always a 30-40 minute queue but the food delivers every time. The options are similar to any other dim sum restaurant but the quality is consistent.
