Chicken with honey and lemon sauce and a small portion of rice: for more than 15£ that's not even worth the time waiting for it. No particular taste, the chicken was too wet from the sauce and too sweet and also with no seasoning on the meat. Rice was dry and with no taste whatsoever. And it was meant to be "small portion" but I can not imagine the bigger one. I couldn't even finish half of it. Other members of our group have ordered other meals and it smelled like stinky socks. Like literally I thought someone's socks were smelly after the whole day of walking in shoes. Service - I poured my coke in small portions to still have bubbles in it and to not make the ice melt and mix with the coke but the waitress came and poured the rest (⅔ can) into my glass without asking and for no reason, just to take the empty can... 🤦🏼‍♂️ Never ever again. Reconsider the visit.

We’ve been to the Golden Phoenix before and it’s been fine, but on this occasion we were disappointed. The waiting staff were generally attentive and courteous. However, we were shocked when we received our £22 salt and pepper prawns dish. Look at the photo, taken immediately after it was served to us, and judge for yourself if that price is reasonable. Times are hard and profit margins are thin, but this is pushing it. Other than that, one of the dishes we ordered arrived a full 35 minutes after the rest of our order was served. Staff were surprised when we told them not to bother. All this is a shame, as we’ve enjoyed this restaurant in the past. We won’t be coming back.

Lovely food, big portions. Great flavours, sizzling lamb satay was a treat. Very busy but still friendly staff.

Four of us visited the restaurant and have never had such a bad meal. The pork was gone, the turkey was also inedible, and the vegetables weren't good either! Very bad and very expensive!

Walked in at 4:45pm for dimsum. They staff were quick to tell us that their dimsum menu finishes strictly at 5pm and they helped us get the order in on time. Attentive service, good food

My go-to place for dim sum & Cantonese food for many years. Frequently visit Golden Phoenix whenever in London. Very convenient location in Chinatown and the staff here are very efficient- quick service before and after West End shows. Came here during 2+ hour break between part 1 and 2 of HP Cursed Child - finished dinner with plenty of time to stroll back to the theater.

It’s ok for a restaurant in China Town, but do not go there expecting the best food/atention

Food is great tbh. Restaurant is dated and needs an update but it is huge so it's prob hard. Toilets are good and you get your own room instead of shared. I like this place and we come back often when we're in town. Staff are like every other Chinese restaurant, they just want to serve you and get your cash as quickly as possible then make sure you gtfo as fast as possible lol. Some of the staff are chatty and fun. Not a problem for me, I go back often.

The rice rolls are silky smooth and thin, with a perfect texture that melts in your mouth. The filling is fresh and flavorful, complementing the delicate wrapper beautifully. Highly recommended!

Not tasty and very expensive...

Very bad service and the food was mid and overpriced. If you want to eat here be prepared to get disappointed. Kind of a nice building but not for the service or the price. Other Chinese restaurants in China town is way more worth it.

Were spoilt for choice for Dim Sums - everything really tasty - super hot and good size portions ! We couldn’t eat it all and were quickly offered the choice of taking our left overs home ! The service was really good also - efficient but not too quick that we felt we were rushed ! Alan was particularly chatty and made several recommendations re the food and tasty Jasmine tea! Thoroughly recommend!!

We had dinner at the Golden Phoenix in London's China Town and had an overall good time. The restaurant is well located, right in the heart of the neighborhood, and the atmosphere is pleasant. We chose menu 2B, which was plentiful and quite good, with authentic flavors. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive which really added to the experience. However, we were surprised by an additional charge of £8 which was not advertised, which tarnished our impression a little. Despite this, we recommend this restaurant for a good Chinese meal in China Town.

I was at first turned off by the low google rating. But the selection on the menu led me to believe it’s an authentic Cantonese restaurant. Indeed it didn’t disappoint me. Everything is as you would expect in a solid traditional Cantonese restaurant. Eg dim sum only from noon to 5. (Not the all day dim sum nonsense). Classical Cantonese selection like salted fish chicken fried rice. Also it’s full of Chinese local. I would definitely come back again.

Terrible food… the worst chinese i have ever tried… and rude staff… we ordered the mixed meat and seafood noodles for 2 persons… it only had one shrimp and the meat was awful… more like bacon.. the duck was also very bad as well as the appetizers.. we didnt finish our food… we left with empty stomachs

Party of 18. Reservation worked ok. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Individual payments without fuss. Friendly staff. We would recommend.

I love this place . Have been coming here for years . Food is good , service is good , staff very friendly . Prefer of to my old place . Here solo diner's are welcome. 23/08/24- I came here yesterday too . Wanted to try their soy chicken. I am glad I did ! It was scrumptious. Had my usual chicken's feet too . 8/10/24 came here again for chicken claw in black beans sauce fix , it was yummy Also had the soy half chicken

Golden Phoenix in Chinatown London was a busy restaurant. The service was fast and efficient and the food was tasty, as you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. The atmosphere was good and it was nice and busy. You don't have to wait long for the food. Thought the prices were quite high, but the portions were also generous.

The fish tank is quite disturbing with those giants crammed into such a small space.

Extremely rude staff. After booking our table on phone we got there and got refused. The manager only offered a take away and was very aggressive. Would give -1000 if could. RACIST

Nice restaurant beautifully decorated with very good service. Inside is big with over 3 floors and food is good. Soups could use a bit more flavor but the dim sum was very good and cooked to order. If you like dim sum, this was pretty solid.

We had a great experience here. The servers were friendly and efficient. We all ordered various types of noodles and they were brought very quickly and the portions were huge. Very tasty - we'll definitely come back and try something new.

The roasted duck was very tasty, probably the best duck I have ever eaten in my life

Good comfortable and spacious place, spans across 3 floors. Not like other congested claustrophobic places in chinatown. The food is tasty and served at right temperature. There is a minimum table order. Please check before going, i think it is £10 per person, not for a quick bite stop. Must try Roast duck Deep fried soft shell crab

A nicely decorated restaurant spread over 2 floors. We had the dim sum which we both really enjoyed. For my main I had the chicken chow mein which was good but not great. Although I didn't dislike the food at all I thought that it was probably a bit overpriced for what we had. The service was very good the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would almost certainly go again. China town can be a bit of a hit and miss so overall pretty good

Our family came here twice in a week. Maybe we have been away from home for too long and miss the oriental food. We ordered 8 dishes and it was great.

Read the negative reviews to findout foolish people complaining. This place is excellent, it defeated every expectation in terms of service food and ambience. Best restaurant in the Chinese Town of London. I would come back and reccomend to my friends this place deserves higher rating for sure.

We arrived at 12:00 and the restaurant filled up very quickly. They have three floors, friendly, efficient staff and everyone enjoyed the starter of crispy duck and their mains.

Really authentic Chinese food, better than other dim sum shop in china town.

They refused to serve us because we had not ordered for enough money per person (especially since the restaurant was far from full). Icy welcome. So we paid for the drinks (and the surcharge!) and left… empty stomachs, and pushed towards the exit.

This is a great place to have dim sum with a solid selection of dishes. They come out quickly as you would expect and your tea is regularly refilled. The food itself is good and is the star of the show. The restaurant is surprisingly big with 3 floor by my count and there's a lot of seating so it can get busy and bustling. The staff are nice enough.

Terrible, the staff treats customers terribly, rushing them to leave. Pushing, pouring tea even though we told you not to, and then charging you for it. In addition, the large tip charged was completely inadequate to the quality of the service, which I personally wouldn't give a penny more than necessary. The food is ok, in Poland I ate better quality Chinese than there.

The restaurant was relatively nicely decorated but much too air-conditioned. Even with a sweater it was too cold. The waiters were okay, but unfortunately they didn't say a word to us the entire time we were there. The portion of chicken was very small and for a price of £15 it didn't even include rice. The noodles were barely seasoned and tasted like nothing. They were just soaked in soy sauce. The noodles also arrived as if they had just been thrown onto a plate, as there were also noodles hanging off the plate when the food arrived. The vegetables were overcooked and hard. Overall very overpriced and absolutely not justified. Paid 80 euros and it didn't taste good.

Large (3 floors) Chinese restaurant with a very large menu of food items. Our group ordered a vegetable fried rice without egg, a chicken fried rice, broccoli in a garlic sauce and a BBQ beef with boiled rice. All the food was fine, not great. Service is not great, very busy unhappy servers, dropping off food with minimal comments.

Food was good although the vegetable stir fry were very starchy, dumplings really tasty and special mention to the crispy pork belly. Good portions. However, service was a real let down, the host at the door was nice and accomodating but after that we felt rushed, staff barely looked at us and acted annoyed when we were ordering food.

Noodles were great! The fried rice on the other hand was not even fried. We tried asking one of the staff if we could get it remade with actual flavours. She didn't seem to care and walked off. The fried rice was inedible. It was boiled not even fried. It tasted like something you would get at a school cafeteria.

Met friends for lunch here in Chinatown. There's no reservation possible so it's best to queue before opening at noon but tables maybe available for late comers. They have a very good Dim Sum menu along with other dishes. Mark off your choices on the paper menu and they arrive pretty quickly. I wentfor the Dim Sum mix, a crispy seafood dish and a large bowl of rice with spicy sausage which was a bit too much.

Stopped here for dinner on a Wednesday evening. Typical chinese restaurant ambience and food was good but not special.

Great place for dim sum in Chinatown and pretty good value too for London prices. Service is usually on par with many other Chinese restaurants but other times it's slightly better - attentive and quick, never over the top. As someone who has eaten dim sum all their life, this has become my go-to place in London.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and China Town was super busy. There was a queue on arrival at the restaurant but it moved fairly quickly. Inside it was busy, but service was efficient and the staff friendly and attentive. We were able to get a nice table upstairs by the balcony, away from all the other tables. Food came quickly and each dish was tasty and authentic. Lots of options to choose from on the Dim Sum and Al a carte menus and the portions generous. I felt the prices were very reasonable in comparison to the others restaurants situated close by. All in all a great first experience, we both agreed it was a great spot and will certainly go back again soon.

Hi, we came to London, stopped in chinatown... I feel like the area is like a tourist trap (but not all locations). We went here for dinner... the food are fine, but its pricey plus they charge £ 12.50 so to USD will $98 for 3 of us, it is what it is, best to walk around to see other options... also, everywhere is crowded.

The food and the restaurant are surprising. In fact, the prices are high but the dish we ordered included lobster and also scallop, so I think it's worth it. Quick service and surprisingly delicious menu.

Did not have the best experience here. Staff were a small bit rude and curt. Continuously asking what we wanted to order when I was still very clearly looking at the long menu. For some reason they ignored my Spanish friend a bit and her meal took a very very long time to come out. Waiter seemed a bit uninterested, maybe we were just there on an unlucky day. Also saw one of them being rude to a customer whose company hadn’t shown up yet telling her she needed to leave, even though there were other tables. Food was okay

Nice authentic Chinese dim sum and full of flavours. Staff was tentative, quick service on food. I completely understand they are busy due to the number of tourist and lunch time rush but felt rushed by waiting staff when there was no queue outside considering we were there less than an hour.

There was a hair in my food! Felt rushed on the whole experience. 12.5% which they won’t take off. Cost a lot for what is it! Do not recommend

My family really enjoyed the food, but since I have a treenut allergy I was advised to avoid 95% of the menu by my waitress. Within my limited choices, I was still told there was no guarantee of them being safe to eat. Again, my family said their good was great (beef dishes, pork belly, steamed buns), but severely avoid this place if you have a treenut allergy.

16 of us pre-booked for a works party, early-evening. We’d booked 8 weeks in advance (we struggled to find a restaurant in Chinatown large enough to accommodate us) and paid a deposit. Firstly, we phoned to say we were going to be an hour later than planned - the restaurant was fine with this. Secondly, we moved the tables around and the waiting staff got a bit grumpy (fair enough). Once we explained what we wanted to do, the staff were super helpful and suggested (and moved the tables and chairs) to a more efficient way of achieving the goal. Service was great – really efficient and helpful. Granted, service was not always with a smile, but I think that’s just the way the restaurant worked. We had a bit of an accident and spilled drinks (beer and boiling hot tea) over an innocent member of our company (luckily he mostly dodged the boiling drink). The staff were amazing and cleared this away really efficiently. I had a word with the head waiter afterwards and had a good joke about it – he was great when you spoke to him directly, he’s seen it all before. Food – really tasty. We were not expecting too much, but the roast crispy duck was great (lovely and crispy), the squid was amazing. Everything we had was delicious (set-menu for 6 - £39 I think). The rice was excellent, so many juicy prawns and meat bits. Even the stir-fried veg was great. One of our party moaned it lacked flavour – they were wrong – I would have loved to get some to takeaway (with a meat dish too of course). Conclusion – great service, great food, prices decent. What’s not to like? I will be going back (probably by myself so I can choose what I want all to myself). Wish I’d had the crispy chilli beef, looks good. Thanks Golden Phoenix!

We were looking for an authentic Chinese with dim sum and this fit the bill. Very busy place but the service was still very good and dishes came out as they were prepared. It’s a large restaurant with 3 stories but we were on the ground floor next to the front door so the atmosphere was of a smaller restaurant. Next time we would add the crispy duck to our menu. The next table got it and it looked great. But the dim sum was great. Loved the fried squid too.

My daughter and I had a lovely dim sum lunch on Saturday. Service was polite and friendly and efficient but they didn't rush you as I find in some restaurants on busy days. Food was lovely. We loved the prawn spring rolls, the scallop rolls especially with the flaky outside and the seafood crispy noodles. I think we have found our new go to Dim Sum place. We will be coming back when we visit London again.

The food here is good with reasonable prices however whilst sitting in the restaurant we had to stare at a fish tank filled with fish that were clearly too big for the tank. It was upsetting to see. No pets should be left uncared for. The tank had no greenery, nothing in it at all and most of the fish were clearly depressed. As a vet and animal carer it's sad to see such animal cruelty. I understand it's a restaurant and not an animal sanctuary but it still really bothered me that no one considered how wrong it is. Eating fish is one thing but torturing them is another. Fix your tank ! I won't be going back

It wasn’t too bad, dim sum was quite good and tasty, service was fine, it wasn’t too hard to get a waiter/waitress attention, it was actually better than many other Chinese restaurants, though it looks a bit old and run down inside, it’s actually not too bad.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times and must say the service is fantastic however I would say the food was nice but it has definitely been better before , but between 6 of us we definitely had enough food as the portions are big enough to share around and for the price it was definitely worth it .

Food is always fresh and prices are reasonable. We ordered 8 dim sum dishes and a plate of stir fried Ho fun noodles. Staff are attentive, friendly and service was efficient - food arrived within minutes of each other. Our tea was also refilled without us asking which I give top marks for hospitality! Always a pleasant experience! Place was packed but service was kept to the highest of standards!

Awful food made worse by the fact it is relatively expensive. Egg fried rice & Peking duck was inedible. If they can't do these dishes, then don't bother with anything else. 15% surcharge added, but under UK law it is optional whether you pay a tip or service charge, so cannot be legally enforced, but they refused to take it off. Avoid.

Looking at other reviews, i think i got unlucky with the food i ordered (chicken satay skewers) the chicken was hard and very stringy but i’m not mad about the portion size as i wasn’t hungry at all to order a full meal. On the other hand my mother enjoyed her noodles. I think i will come back here and try different noodles again. There is a £10 minimum per head! The service was fast and we were greeted at the door, staff were friendly and welcoming and worked suuuuper efficiently!

Cozy atmosphere and delicious food. The duck in particular (the waiter fillets it in front of the customer) and the frog legs were also delicious.

Poor experience with staff members. Throughout the entire meal me and my partner both felt uncomfortable. The waitresses were busily staring and talking amongst eachother. Members of staff didn't reccomend what would be best to order for two. We ended up over ordering. Staff members were frantically watching us and we felt terrible as we didn't finish everything. I personally hate food wastage. The staff members were shaking their heads as they collected our food and spoke about us. It was a really uncomfortable experience. We both felt very anxious. However, the food was great and the restaurant was beautiful.

To be honest, the food was really bad and especially in CHINA TOWN, even in my small town of Lörrach (Germany), the Chinese restaurants are a lot better. The chicken was cold. The waitresses are totally unfriendly. I was ashamed to have brought my wife to such a restaurant... She didn't even ask if we wanted anything else or how it tasted.😂

Solid Chinese dining experience. Clean with 5 star hygiene rating. Staff were friendly. We had the set meal “B” for 2. The food was good rather than wonderful. Pity set meal did not include desert. Toilets were clean.

Came here for dim sum. Joined the queue at around 12:30 and had to wait for half an hour. The restaurant has 2 floors, the ground floor seems to open before the upper one - when we asked about waiting times, we were told they were understaffed and that's why they weren't allowing more people in. The upper floor would open at 1pm since that's when the staff would arrive Food wise, they have a smaller selection of dim sum plates but they're all pretty good - would recommend the prawn cheung fun & spring onion with fried doughnut cheung fun - the desserts are also really nice, we got mango pudding & sago pudding and it was a good way to finish the meal. Overall, I think there are slightly better places to go for dim sum in Chinatown but this one is decent too if there isn't a long waiting time

Avoid this place, it's a real tourist trap, like all Chinatown. The service is lousy, the servers are not friendly and they push you to order without even knowing the composition of the dishes. We had a soy chicken, full of nerves and bones, unacceptable. Please keep your money for other places that deserve it.

Amazing food. Fell in love with the fried noodle soup! The environment is a bit loud as expected but still very nice for a catch up with a friend.
