Royal Chef in County Durham

TAKE CASH ONLY ...They are always very reliable when ordering or picking up ..sometimes there hit and miss quality wise ..I don't recommend going soon as they open as you are better when they have been open a while and have a proper cook on at a certain time ..say 7 pm ...I would not recommend delivery ,as I witnessed a woman who had been smoking heavily ,pick up delivery ..drop some of it in the car and come back in for a bag to scoop it into ..with a cigarette on ...not good...and must have been freezing by the time they got it ... Last time we ate it was amazing only two weeks ago on a Friday evening ..may go tonight ...see if we're lucky

We ordered a takeaway at approximately 7pm, I followed up with a call an hour later to check on its delivery time & was told it was out for delivery. It turned up over 90 minutes after ordering & was partially wrong & cold. I called & was offered no apology but a free boiled rice when it was a fried rice missing. On checking it’s now also apparent that they suffer with a very poor hygiene rating. There are plenty of choices locally for Chinese takeaway food, I’d avoid the Royal Chef if possible as they clearly don’t value your custom & struggle to manage hygiene to an acceptable level.

Worst Chinese in bishop Auckland never use this again and that's before I even found out about the 0 hygiene should be closed down..

Ordered £30 pound’s worth of food last night 2 portions of salt & pepper king prawns both inedible. They supposed to be salty but these were inedible never tasted anything like it . I complained and was told you do get a odd 1 that’s salty erm no to whole portion s in the bin I will never order from there again waste of money and bad customer service!

After a 2 hour wait the order was wrong and our fault apparently! Asked for salt and pepper chicken and got salt and pepper chips. Phoned up about it and the attitude was disgraceful, wanted the chips back to pass on to another customer and wanted extra money for the mistake but instead of the 80p with the meal added the fried rice on top of the meal, asked for an extra £3.80 but then charged delivery fee again the cheek of it! Absolutely disgusting attitude, will never go again. Used to be our go to but now not a chance!

We ordered as a family, over the phone. Luckily I had cash on me, as when we got there to collect, they said they don’t take cards!! They should have said this when ordering. We ordered a variety of food, including sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, chow mein, fried rice, chips etc. The food was nice and the portions were good and the complimentary prawn crackers were lovely. The order was ready to collect after 20 mins, which was good too.

Ordered online. Collected ourselves. Very good quality food, containers really full. More expensive than some takeaways, but really worth paying extra . Ordered a King Prawn and Chicken Curry , and the container was packed full of prawns and Chicken. The sweet n sour chicken fed 3 hungry people as did the beef chow mein.

We enjoyed a takeaway from here. The food was fresh and tasty. I would say of good quality, it would be harsh to rate as average but it wasn’t ‘very good’.

This take away has recently been refurbished. The staff are friendly and obliging. The food is varied and of excellent quality. You can also see your orde being prepared. Well worth a visit.

Lots of good choices great food used many times and only take 15 mins for collection. Straight to the point on the phone, they deliver to us out in the sticks too which is great

Terrible food and 100% definitely waste of money. I did call up and complain & the guy tried to replace the meal but after the food we got the first time no thanks.
