Having arrived at a surprise birthday party on Saturday 1st July at the Phoenix club in Newton Aycliffe and seeing how much hard work the family and friends had done on the birthday boys behalf it was very disappointing to see the DJ who was recommend by the club basically threating to turn the music off if he wasn't paid in full. The family were very shocked and distressed with this behaviour as they had just arrived in the room, also during the night when asked to play up to date songs he's reply was that he was playing to an older crowd and just played what he wanted even though it was a 30th and not a 70th birthday with an average age in the room of between 18-35. He also stopped playing at exactly 11pm and just disappeared from the room and as the family and friends started to tidy and do what the club had asked by putting table and chairs away and tidying up the bar staff were busy taking their drinks of which some were full drinks and all before 11:10pm just after they had bought them at 11:00pm. You can see why this club is struggling if they treat people like this we will defiantly not be using this club for any more organised events or even for a normal night out.

Although it's no longer called the Legion...its now The Pheonix, it's a fab little club with lovely people running it and equally lovely people that enjoy a night out in here. I used to go years ago (in my younger days) lol. I love my Friday nights sitting with a cple of friends while enjoying whichever act is on and listening to people having fun on the kareoke! Even getting up myself sometimes. .. its cheap beer great company fab atmosphere, what more could you want!!

this was a great place to eat it has changed caterers now food is often cold and parts missing meat is thin and not a lot of it £6.95 now and was £5.95 its a pound more, but worse value for money my direct family of 7 and 5 children, mother in law and wife's sister and family of 4 would all often visit here, but no more the British Legion has gone seriously down hill I wouldn't recommend this venue now to anyone

pura buena comida a precios muy razonables el lugar está impecablemente limpio, como es de esperar de un club británico legión y, a diferencia de la mayoría de restaurantes los precios del bar son muy bien de precio

popped in here for lunch, the menu is varied and every thing is home cooked, a very tasty mince pie and chicken dinner was what we had, the service was quick and efficient and the price was very very reasonable, just over a tenner for two meals and two drinks worth every penny. will deffo go back...very soon.

I normally love going to the Tea Barn and go regularly. I buy all my plants from here as well as going into the restaurant. Today, the lady serving on the counter spoke to me like I was a piece of dirt under her shoe - she was rude, brusque and condescending and gave the impression that she couldn't be bothered being there. What a shame. It will be a while before I consider going back now.

We went to South Causey for afternoon tea, with friends, our dog and 6 month old baby. We have been to South Causey before and had a nice time. We love that it’s dog friendly too! The afternoon tea is great value for money! We got loads so obviously took some home! A down side to the afternoon tea is that it is brought out on mini picnic tables (which is cute) but the table we were given was not big enough for the four of us with cups and our afternoon tea. I feel we should have been given a bigger table seeing as their afternoon tea setup is so large. Also we were not offered a high chair for our baby (yes we could have asked for one), but not once were we asked if we wanted one and I would have expected one waiting at our table seeing as I informed them at booking that we would have a baby with us.
