Our go to Indian restaurant. Superb

Wonderful takeaway, reasonably priced. Mixed tikka starter very tasty and well cooked. Lamb pathia full of flavour and very tender. Mushroom rice excellent.

This is the second time I have ordered from this restaurant and really enjoyed as I did the first time.I will definitely be ordering for a third time soon.The best in the area.

Tandoori roti not made of wheat(atta) rather maida( refined wheat), very thin and chewy. Goa chicken curry God knows what curry tasted like etc. Asked for non spicy gave spicy. Sizzler - 3 small piece of lamb, 2 chicken and 2 prawns worth 15 pounds. Sorry, it's not worth it. Manual billing. I won't recommend draught beer either better go for bottled ones. Overall our evening in beautiful town was spoiled.

Absolutely extortionate for the order we got! Emperors Grill £16.95 Tiny Nan bread Tub of curry sauce,1 chicken leg 2 bites size pieces or lam and 1 prawn. Oh and 2 sauces.....Shocking. will not be ordering again.

I have a nut allergy and because of the standard ingredients in Indian food, it’s always a bit of a worry but the restaurant were very vigilant and reassuring. We ordered a Jalfrezi and Bhuna - without doubt, the best curry we’ve ever had. So flavoursome and fresh. Would thoroughly recommend. Naan, rice and pakora were class too.

The meal was delivered hot and on time, the driver was polite and friendly, as expected the food was good. No issues with this order whatsoever.

Food arrived early however the tandoori chicken main meal wasn’t great at all. Very dry and overcooked. It went in the bin. Also ordered a garlic Nan and received a plain one. Totally disappointed tonight

Went this afternoon with family. To say the food was amazing would be a complete understatement. Our son had been some years ago and had said the food is lovely. Having 5 grandkids with us who were all happy and they cleared their plates says it all!!! The poppadoms went down a treat with the jug of yellow souse (mint sauce) heavenly. Honestly. We had a selection of starters; prawn puree, chicken chat on a puree and haggis pakoras. Our mains were lamb roshani, chicken tikka and paneer tikka sashlik. With a garlic and peshawar nan bread. Another superlative, amazing The grankids got ice cream. Fantastic service. Attentive and friendly. Without a shadow of a doubt the next time we are up visiting family a return visit will be happening. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. ++++

We asked the chef to send us a home style curry of his choice with a medium spice, and what he sent was absolutely delicious, we were so pleasantly surprised. We also had lamb pasanda and it was was cooked to perfection. Generous portions, quick delivery. Will definately be going back.

Was in dunfermline for a show and decided would eat here before performance. My wife and friend both have allergies and had concerns with it not being a british restaurant but my fears were shortlived as the waiter was well informed and had a number of options to assist with food choices. My friend opted for steamed seabass and trimmings. My wife and I started with vegetable pakora then the wife had chicken korma, I had tandoori mix grill consisting of sikh kebab, chicken and lamb pieces and a half chicken along with curry sauce and keema nan. The meat was melt in the mouth and the nan had a generous mince filling. We finished off with pistaccio kulfi ( indian ice cream ) and a calypso coffee for me. We would recommend this establishment to anyone and will definetely come back. The staff were very attentive and friendly making it overall a very frendly visit.

Doesn't look much from outside but the food was fabulous. Didn't wait long for any course and it was busy inside. Plenty of choice, good price and all fresh. Definitely worth the visit across the bridge. The staff were very friendly. 100% will come back when in Edinburgh again.

received the wrong order on time - when the correct order came it was cold and the poppadoms were in a million pieces - very disappointed

Just popped in to try it on a Sunday night, nobody else in the restaurant, not a good sign. Ordered the food, no atmosphere at all had to ask for background music to be put on. Starters ok, however main course of mixed tandoori was very small, not chargrilled, all the meats were covered in some form of red wet coating, so everything tasted the same, at £16.95, it certainly wasn't a generous portion, it comes with a medium sauce as standard, but we ordered a korma sauce separately. Overall the food was poor, even the mushroom rice was stodgy. When the bill came, we noticed the small dish of korma sauce was charged at £6.00, we queried this, only to be told, "sauces are expensive to make" we obviously expected to pay for the sauce, however £6.00 seemed excessive compared to other restaurants we use. This was our first visit and certainly our last, don't waste your money. Probably explains why it was deserted.

Food was pretty standard, which was fine. Service wasn’t good however- time elapsed over estimated delivery time (1hr) and when we rang the assistant seemed fairly unaware of what was happening/process for delivery. No apology etc for late food.

Good food, good service. Very well worth a visit to this resturant. Looking at the establishment from the outside, it might look a little "ouch, perhaps I should skip this one" but honestly don't judge a book by its cover! This is an Indian restaurant with an excellent food selection. Flavor is not necessarily as strongly seasoned as I tend to like it, but still very tasty and everyone left very satisfied. Service is good and efficient. Even while we visited as a large group and the resturant had no issues with servicing everyone.

Wouldn't order delivery again.

Service was top notch, lovely staff and a lovely atmosphere. Food was really good and they even made us a GF chapati as a one off. Priced OK and will likely go back as food will be worth the trip.

Amazing restaurant with best Indian food I have ever tasted!

Ordered at 6:50 and food didn’t arrive until 9:20, food was cold- chips were inedible and Nan was very burnt at some parts making half of it inedible too. I get it can be busy but I wasn’t expecting to be eating my dinner at half 9 at night

Delicious meal, however we’re sure the nan bread had no garlic 🧄 🤔

Not up to the usual standard I'd expect from the Bengal. Taste was lacking for both the Tikka Masala, the chicken tikka, and the naan. Hopefully just a result of a busy Saturday

We haven't had a meal from here for some time, but thoroughly enjoyed this one. Was pleased to see that the dishes and quality hadn't changed. Only thing we noticed was the "yellow sauce" is now an orange colour and slightly sweeter, but enjoyable nevertheless. We chose the delivery time as it was the first available, but said we would take it earlier if it was ready, it came 30 minutes early, which we were happy about 👍

Couldn’t contact the driver as he kept declining my phone calls and when we finally got the food it was freezing

For the forth time the curry’s are not consistent. One week it’s great, the next week tasteless like a base curry sauce.

Hadn't been to The Bengal for years. Visited the other evening & enjoyed the best Lamb Balti I've ever had. Staff went above & beyond in terms of service which was excellent. Will be first on the list of places to go for Indian food in the future.

Requested a delivery at 8.15, was given an estimated time of 8.30 and it eventually turned up at 9.00. Food was delicious.

Never leave reviews but we are not from Dunfermline we we worried to try somewhere different, but we are delighted with the order. The food was delicious and hot and such fresh ingredients.

Driver was ostensibly, I had to walk out to the end of the street to look for them, meal was ok but not to previous standard, ie nan bread looked grey and unappealing, temperature of some of the food had dropped

Updating review due to a bad order, which was disappointing given previous positive experience. Whereas the last order was delicious, apparently food quality isn't consistent - Madras was fantastic on first order, so ordered again but this time it was totally different and didn't taste much like curry at all! Absolutely no heat and was weirdly lemony. Sweeter curries like Chasni and Pathia are overly sweet and have no sour or savoury flavour to complement. Giving 2 stars rather than 1 due to the original good experience, but unlikely to order again.

Very disappointed with this order as previous experience has been great. Order was ready on time and pick up was easy, but the food quality was very poor - madras had no heat whatsoever and was very lemony, didn't even taste like curry! Pathia was overly sweet and had no sourness to compliment it. Giving 2 stars rather than 1 due to positive previous orders, but unlikely to order again now.

Have had a few bad meals from another Indian in Dunfermline so thought I would try the Royal Bengal. Very disappointed. Rice and bread good. We had three different curries, which where poor. They had no taste or dept off flavour. Very watery.

By far the very best Indian cuisine in the area 5 star plus

Was told the food was delivered at 19.20 but didn't actually arrive until 19.45, had to heat up in the microwave before eating...it wasn't cold but wasn't hot either

Order was confirmed for 17:55 - at 17:50 it showed as “on its way” - but didn’t arrive until 18:20 and it was cold (and we don’t have a means to re-heat). We ate it cold but would have been more enjoyable if it was at least warm but it was really cold. Not to the usual standard today sadly.

Everything was great apart from the chips - they were extremely greasy.

Great quality food from The royal Bengal as always. We had to wait 2 hours from ordering on a Tuesday night though when I’m only 10 minutes away. No updates from just eat with a new delivery time. Our meal was ready but the venue was waiting for the driver to pick it up. There was 3 very hangry girls.

We use the place all the time, and most times the food is excellent. Except tonight the fish pakora was a big let down, it was like cardboard the haggis pakora had more batter than haggis. Apart from the starters the other food was excellent as usual.

Really perfect, delicious curries! Glad I tried here after a few other local curry houses have gone downhill. The dansak was perticularly good! Will be back for more. Also, great for vegans and those who need lactose free food :]

Superb tasty food, highly recommended.

Pre order but still late with no just eats updates so had to call twice. Saag was tasteless compared to most other Dunfermline Indians, popadoms were vey chewy so been sitting it for a while. I know you can do better so don’t compromise as restaurants will be quick to capitalise. Positive, Wife loved the Goa Chicken.

App advised that collection would be ready for 6:25. Arrived to the restaurant to be sent away and come back again in 15 minutes. Came back again, waited another 15 minutes. Got a call on my mobile from a delivery driver advising me it would be another 30-40 minutes until my order was ready to collect and to phone the restaurant for a further update. Tried to call and no answer. Went back into the restaurant to ask what was going on and then it was magically ready… a lot of miscommunication. Understandable that it was Father’s Day and it was very busy but would expect the app to advise of any delays etc rather than turning up to the restaurant to be sent away and told to come back etc.

The food is really good just a pity that lengthy waiting times are off putting. Our main courses did not arrive until we had been in for 105 minutes and we weren’t even asked if we wanted more drinks after our first order was taken. The restaurant said they were a chef down but if they can’t cope they should not fill up every table and continue to take takeaway orders. Really disappointing.

After an epic day drinking in the Cranny Bar, we start on the Corona and then move to the 3 second second pour of gins. Last time The B Man brought vodka that looked like gin and nobody noticed it was gin and we all said what a tasty gin this vodka was. At around 7 pm, our food arrives. Hobs tries to play it cool and say he is not hungry, but he always stuffs his face, and one time, he ate 50 chicken pakora, the dirty beast that he is. B Man always gets the spicy curry's because he is the best and extra pakora sauce because he is the best. Top tip, curry man, always give extra sauce and free naan or poppadoms when you receive an order from The Cranny Bar. Keep up the good work.

It's our go too for an Indian takeaway, we have tried other Indians in the area including the dearest ones and the Bengal alway beats them all the quality of food, quick delivery and more importantly the cost.

Great food and service as always ! Been coming for years and although it has changed owners the hood has always been top notch !

Waited over 2 hours for my food

I ordered and paid for a take away meal for four people on a Saturday night and opted to collect the meal. I did this online well in advance of my collection time. The web site stated a 20 minute wait for collection from placing the order. At the time I chose for collection I arrived a few minutes late but the meal wasn’t ready. I was asked to take a seat in the restaurant which I think is off putting for the diners. There were several others waiting for meals and quite a lot of comings and going for take aways. I was told three times that my meal was just coming in the 25 minutes I had to wait. I spoke to someone I knew who’s take away was actually waiting for them when they arrived. They had phoned in with the order and were told to wait 40 minutes before collecting. Why does the web site say 20 minutes when it is obvious they cannot achieve that deadline. Are they short of staff or are they just taking orders knowing they can’t fulfil the commitment. Having said that the staff did apologise when the food eventually came explaining that they were busy! The food was good and I will return but phone in my order and receive a more realistic time schedule.

Given wrong flavour nan bread, so should have just got set meal and saved £9. Initial order cancelled by myself as once confirmed by restaurant, the delivery time had increased by 45mins! Ordered again for collection as quicker, sat waiting from expected time and still took 30mins longer than expected, 1hr 30mins from time of order! Staff apologized but felt insincere.

The food was delivered late and wasn’t very hot by the time it arrived. I had ordered butter chicken but received a korma, which was ok, but not what I’d wanted. I didn’t bother calling the restaurant again as I’d probably have starved waiting even longer. The chicken was dry. Disappointing overall.
