If you like mice with your meal and film, your in the right place. I have nothing good to say about this place which is a shame as I read good reviews which were completely wrong!!

Maz was lovely and when our order was wrong let us have three meals on the house instead of two! The restaurant was not yet refurbished, so a little dark, but Maz did everything he could to make us feel comfortable and went above and beyond his duties, nothing wrong with the food when it arrived but wasn't excellent dining. Once refurbished would be a lovely place for brunch.

I purchased A voucher for this venue, it was for a three course meal and a viewing of a movie, when we arrived we were the only two people there, so you would expect pretty good service, not a chance, the waitress could not have cared less but my main concern was the cleanliness or rather lack of any! the place was a complete dump, filthy sticky tables, floor was worse and please pray you never have to visit the toilets! overall impression was that this place should be condemned by public health, never again and it does explain why every other venue on Borough High Street was packed and The Roxy was empty

Hire of the Roxy Bar proved to be excellent value for money so perfect if you have a small budget, the team was made up of both senior and junior members but everyone had great fun. The screen was hooked up to the internet which was great because it meant we could pick songs from all over the world and not just English songs. The staff were very accomodating and friendly (I liased with Maz, Taz and Rimpey) Thanks Roxy for a memorable evening! x

These were handed a very lucrative Liverpool FC London support business on a plate for free and have done nothing to keep it since! They regularly run out of beer mid way through the match and minimise staffing levels. The first time I watched a match here I waited 15mins to get served, the bar in general is filthy also.

I took my sister here as a birthday treat for their screening of La la land. The only good part of our night was the movie which they can't take credit for. The food we ordered was attrocious! Cold burgers with over toasted stale buns. The dessert was a chocolate brownie, didn't even taste of chocolate, and the ice cream was full of Ice crystals. The drinks, they were using 2 litre bottles of coke not a tap. It was flat and warm. The food took forever. All through the movie the 2 waiters (males) were using there phone as torches and walking across the screen and asking people if they were a table number. The toilet. Don't even get me started this is long enough already. When I messaged the bar on Facebook the admin was so rude. Flat out refused to believe my experience saying the waiter was "a bit blind" and "the food is good" When I went into detail he aggressively 'apologised' using capital letters. 😞

There are some bad reviews here, which i can see why. The first impression when you walk in isn't great, which is mostly due to the decoration. I understand that football is screened there and some of that is evident from the quality of decoration. The service could be better. When we first went in the staff took a few mintues to acknowledge us (though it wasnt busy). We chose a table but then moved as it could of done with a wipe over. There were no issues when it came to the food, it was very nice, but i get why some are dubious. There was a good atmosphere and we were able to relax and enjoy the film. The concept of the place is great and could be really good. If they can give the place a repaint that would make a big difference. I feel they need to chose who they their target auidence is and it would attract a clientele that would be better suited for them. I wouldn't go back as it currently is but if they were to improve then I would. Great concept just not executed that well.

So there are a lot of bad reviews on here, but it seems like people were expecting the Ritz! Its a prosecco brunch for £14.50 a person (wowcher) so of course it isn't! Yes it's grotty, but I've been twice now and the staff are lovely (shout out to Maz and Rimpee) and the breakfast is good and big! Perfect to soak up the prosecco, which they really do just keep on bringing in bottles! There was a very awkward and rude hen party in when we were there and Rimpee handled them very well, I wouldn't have been able to keep smiling when being clicked at. Next time this comes on Wowcher I'm going to go again, as it really is good value, and after the prosecco who cares about grottiness! The only thing I'd say is that the TV shouldn't be showing football, a nice film or even music videos would be better.

My sister and I had booked a bottomless prosecco brunch through Wowcher for Mother's Day. Only after paying for the deal did we look at reviews on Trip Advisor, and were horrified to find mostly bad reviews about this place! I booked the prosecco brunch a few weeks ago and received a four word response to say it was booked in, which made me very suspicious. I rang on Tuesday to confirm our booking, and eventually the woman on the phone found our booking and confirmed it, but she could have easily only just put it in the diary!! We turned up at 10:45am, 15 minutes before we had booked the brunch, and found that it was not open. There didn't seem to be any sign of life, which we thought was weird considering we had only 15 minutes until our booked time. At 11am, a male member of staff came and opened up the building, and didn't seem to be aware that we had booked in for the prosecco brunch. Two other women also turned up at 11am, who had also booked in for brunch, and he didn't seem to be aware of their booking either. The man said that we would have to wait 15 minutes for the chef to prepare, and we asked if we could take a seat inside and wait. Upon going in to the building, the facilities did not look hygienic and the place was extremely tatty - not what you would want for a prosecco brunch celebrating Mother's Day! As a group we decided that we did not even want to attempt to eat at this venue, for fear of becoming ill, so we left - I am a university student with exams in a few weeks and cannot afford to be ill! As we stood outside to decide where we wanted to eat, the man came out and said that the wait would be 30 minutes!! For brunch instead we decided to eat at 'The Wheatsheaf' which I would highly recommend, and we also treated ourselves to a doughnut from Borough Market. What was a bad day to start out with became much better! I would not advise anyone to even attempt to go to Roxy Bar and Screen - it is a horrific venue!! This establishment should definitely be reviewed by the Food Standards Agency, it is that terrible.

We were given a last minute meal and film voucher and thought why not....? As it turns out lots of reasons, this is the kind of place that could give dive bars a bad name - filthy upstairs, grumpy staff, grotty furnishings, weird musty smell, flooded loos downstairs, rumours of rodents (maybe they drowned because we didn't see any). Food was edible, beer was expensive, film (Bad Moms) was actually quite good and despite everything we had fun - Not likely to return.

We arrived spot on time for our "brunch" at 1 p.m. The place was like the Marie Celeste - no staff at all. There were two young ladies sitting watching a film and eating, but it was 10 minutes before a member of staff arrived. The included Prosecco arrived fairly promptly after that, but it took quite a while for our order to be taken (2 x ultimate breakfasts - that's a laugh!! - and 2 x pancakes with lemon and sugar). We then had to wait another long time for our "breakfasts" to arrive. To be fair, they weren't TOO bad, although the toast was stone cold and seemed to have been made two days previously. The "piece de resistance" however was the lemon and sugar pancakes - my husband's was just about OK, but mine was burnt, literally, to a cinder - see photograph. How could anyone serve another human being these cremated remains...? I'm not sure what the hole in the middle came about...!! The ladies' loos were dirty and the whole place looks like it needs a scrubbing down. I like the idea of the place - we watched Breakfast at Tiffany's on a big screen and, apart from a big problem with the audio from time to time, that was a novelty. Would I return...? Never! As I say, don't miss my pancake photo - I can't believe it still now!!

This place has been ripped apart by reviews on here, but I had a film night here a few weeks back and overall I would say people maybe are not being completely fair.It was a Saturday night film, we had a three course meal thrown in.Starters were prawns in tempura and fried Camembert.Other half said prawns were fine, Camembert did stink a bit but then it normally does.Mains were burgers, ok all fine and Creme brûlée for dessert which was ok too.The drinks here are expensive but then that goes for London in general.Everyone's gripe is that it is dirty and tatty here, well be fair it is not the ritz and the wear and tear is probably due to some of the clientele who get in here when they show football and rugby matches I could see beer stains on the ceiling and the sofa we sat on had a hole at one end were some genius obviously stood on it and jumped up and down. With a bit of TLC this place could be a real winner, I quite enjoyed the idea of watching a film whilst eating and drinking, just give the place a good deep clean and refurb and it would be great.Maybe just stop showing the sports as people tend to misbehave more the like throwing beer at the ceiling.

My friend and I purchased a voucher from Wowcher for 2 course lunch and bottomless prosecco for £30 at Roxy bar. We went on a day when the weather was gorgeous outside and when we arrived were disappointed that there was no outside seating. Inside was very, very dark, probably not ideal for a girly lunch or a romantic dinner but as you would expect for a cinema screening. Luckily the very friendly barman, I believe his name was Rudy, said that as they own the pub over the road we could use the offer there instead. Here, they had outside seating and more of a pub menu. They let us choose whatever 2 courses we liked and the prosecco really was bottomless. Rudy kept coming accross the road to check everyone was happy and the prosecco kept coming. The food was nice enough, just as you would expect and we ended up having a really good afternoon. We left 4 hours later very happy!

We have chosen to come on a little date night here tonight as the idea of a candle lit dinner and cinema was romantic and just awesome! However the service was just something else, comical, but horrendous - waiting over an hour and half for dinner (the film was almost near the end when we did get dinner) and we are STILL waiting for our pudding lol! Staff didn't know table numbers so they were running around with plates of food interrupting people DURING the movie asking if they were a certain table number - you had staff picking tables up and moving them around whilst people were sitting there eating. As for the manager she just kept ignoring my boyfriend when he asked her where our dinner and pudding was. Nice idea, but rubbish service.OH and they run out of beer before the film had even started.

In January my friend and I found a deal on wowcher for a bottomless prosecco brunch for two which sounded ideal, I called them to book and the girl on the phone sounded very unprofessional and didn't take any of my details. When we arrived for our brunch, the woman who was inside told us that there was no booking found and that they were in fact not even open and had no chef (this was at about 1pm, when they're supposed to be open from 11am). We decided to try again yesterday (March 29th) at 12:30, and on the phone when booking explained what happened last time and we were assured that we were booked and that they would definitely be open. They were not. No one was inside, the door was locked, we tried calling and no answer. Having travelled all the way there for the same thing to happen again was not acceptable. Food came out looking very well presented but had to send my chicken burger back having taken one bite to discover inside was not cooked. I informed the waitress and her response was 'chef is an idiot and I don't know why he's bloody rushing'. My burger returned with the bit I had eaten cut off, recooked and styled again in a new bun.The experience got worse once the movie started. Once the lights went down we saw lots of mice running around. My daughter and I kept out feet up on the chair feeling frightened and uncomfortable. We could hardly concentrate on the filmThe sound to the movie is ridiculously too loud I was too frightened to get up during the film to leave because of the mice running around in the dark. At the end of the film I complained to the waitress about the mice and her response was 'yeah I know, it's cos the back door is open'This was a nightmare of an experience had at the Roxy Bar & Screen

Or cold hard uncooked bacon. All in all absolutely inedible. The waiter did not know what an omelette was either which made all of our party very worried about eating the food.We were offered Egg omelette sandwich ???.So all in all if you are looking for a boozy time and are not too fussy about cleanliness or decor then this is for you just eat before you go.The best thing about the whole experience were my friends we at least shared this experience together, however NEVER AGAIN

Got a groupon deal as a xmas present. travelled down from Northampton to London for the experience and what an experience it was. First impressions were the building was a bit run down. Walked in was told what our coupon got us and to find some where to sit and come back with the food order. Attempted to sit in 4 different places, every single table wobbled, then we attempted to use one of the leather sofas but that was so badly broken that you literally fell through it. So we went back to one of the wobbly tables. Had a look at the menu which did seem nice and ordered along with an apple juice and a coke. As i got back to the table my wife said she could smell alcohol and this with a blocked nose from a cold, i said I only ordered apple juice and preceded to taste some and eugh it was so far fermented it was cider. Took back to the bar and asked to change drink, barmaid asked if it was not nice I said no you have served me cider, she looked at me like i was mad, sniffed it and went eeugghh. Ordered a coke and was given a large as compensation. Sat back down to eat starters which were blatantly microwaved given the extreme heat of the plates, no sooner had i finished was there mice running around. This topped it off and left us with major concerns about the quality of the food control so we walked out telling the barmaid we are leaving due to the mouse for her to ask if we were sure, erm yes there is a mouse while we are earing. I couldn't tell you about the rest or whether the cinema was ok or not, we did not want to know. All in all avoid the place you can eat in nicer resturants and go to a proper cinema anyway.

Didn't care about customers and attitude was appalling. Heating wasn't working so we sat their in our scarves and coats. And what little heating they had that came out of a small heater, the waitress behind the bar kept to herself. The food was on a different level. First of all it came out an hour after ordering. Secondly being a vegetarian and going to order a vegetarian breakfast, you'd expect vegetarian food.. Came out with 2 pork sausages and 1 vegetarian sausage. The chef or waitress didn't care about how this was not good service. They even admitted the food is pre cooked as one of my friends didn't get her course because "the food was stale from staying out". I recently attended this establishment with my partner on 24th December 2016 which had to be arguably the worst dining/cinematic experience of my adult life. The recommendation for Roxy Bar had come through the 'YPlan' mobile app. Upon seeing the event on the app i contacted the business by phone to find out what our £14 spend would get us as it did not specify whether the food would include a main course or starters. The lady that answered the phone advised that the viewing would be on a first come, first serve basis and that we would be better off arriving by 7:30pm at the latest to avoid any disappointment but did not mention the fact that any meal we would order would be variable. We made our way to London Bridge and arrived at approximately 7:15pm and when we entered the building the redolence of alcohol was very apparent with no attempt to mask the potent aroma. The building appeared to be rather jaded and in great need of a refurbishment. Nonetheless, myself and my partner opted to stay and enjoy our evening together. The lady at the bar was rather abrupt and dismissive with the consistent use of profane language. At this point I had to usher my partner at over to the screening area to prevent any verbal altercation. The sofas we had to sit on were filled with dust and were as depleted as the state of the building. During the course of the film myself and my partner as well as another group of girls had noticed mice running around in the backdrop near the curtain rails. At this point we could no longer continue our dining/cinematic experience here as the evening had become progressively worse throughout. Since leaving myself and my partner have experienced multiple bites on our legs which we can only attribute to the sofas that we were subdued to sitting on. I would not recommend going here to anyone mainly due to hygienic reasons. Nobody should be subject in any establishment to witnessing the presence of mice whilst they are dining!

Remember Trainspotting. That scene with Renton, as portrayed by Ewan McGregor, you know the scene with the toilet. Well. Walking into this place "that toilet"? as pictured, was the least of the problems. Well advertised on YPlan I had high hopes as myself and a little tinderella headed out to see Love Actually. I thought I was in. Romantic movie and round the back of Sainsbury's and give her a knee trembler before sniffing my fingers all the way home on the 35 bus. Available drinks were decent. Who doesn't mind a pint of Frontier. However the place is clearly tired, run down and in need of a good clean. The "cinema" is basically a projector with only one speaker working. My home system is x154 better. The sofa was like sitting on cold ripped bales of bricks. The room was freezing. I provided my date with my jacket. Whilst I silent and manly froze. And as if all that weren't enough the mice. It might have been the same two mice I saw 10 times. Or it could have been 20 different mice. However I will not be visiting again and tomorrow environmental health will be getting a call about this obvious health hazard. Do not visit

I will NOT be going back too this restaurant again, it was warmer outside then it was inside. I was freezing too death, There is no heat in this Bar at all, everyone had there jackets on didn't surprise me. One thing they do is mislead you with the whole entire menu from the one they have online. My foxy burger was horrible an so soggy I couldn't even pick it up, also had no taste. I was very disappointed in the whole restaurant. Roxy Bar was my worst experience ever. The place is a joke. The waitress/manager/barmaid (all in one) was rude, sent us to find a table and then asked us to come back to place our order. The cinema screening is in the same place where you eat. Broken sofas, people were trying to find somewhere comfortable to sit but it was impossible. Mice running around. Speakers squeaking whilst you are eating. Really run down, the room hasn't seen refurbishment last 30 years. It was so shocking that by the end of the movie it was funny.Surprisingly the starter was ok, better than expected, the burger was well done and a bit heavy, the dessert awful. Chocolate brownie tasted old and watermelon ice cream didn't fit with it at all. My creme brûlée was made from powder. The place looks ok on the website but if doesn't look like it at all in reality. If you want to be shocked how place in London can look like then it's a perfect place to go otherwise stay away!

The toilets were clean it was all very dated but clean. The food we had was amazing, we had a deep fried cambert, and a avocado and palma ham salad! Both were delicious, for main we had steak burgers with peppercorn sauce the chips were perfect, and the burgers were gorgeous, the pudding was small.I think out of everyone there that night we definitely had the best time, people were complaining and some people even left. The blonde haired waitress was super friendly, very sweet and helpful, the other younger brunette waitress seemed very abrupt but that is just from what we saw as we only dealt with the blonde lady. All in all we would go back with a wowcher

Our family visited The Roxy yesterday evening. I was surprised at how cold and run down it was as I love the cinema experience and was really looking forward to the experience. The staff seemed polite, however the service was initially slow (we waited nearly 45 minutes for the starter), then the main arrived in a timely manner and hot, however it took at least another 30 minutes before we were served the desserts that although were listed as hot were freezing cold. We sat on the leather sofas (really worn and uncomfortable ) to watch the movie but it was so cold we all needed to keep our coats on throughout the film. The shocking part was that I thought I saw something run across the floor but as it was dark I wasnt sure but one of my daughter s said she saw what she thought looked like a mouse running across. It is such a shame that the owner of this venue has let it run down to such an extent as with a bit of an upgrade and tlc it could be a good night out. Wouldnt recommend it or visit again unless it was substantially upgraded.

As it was dark in there, we didn't notice until we took some time leaving that there was a family of mice running around the floor around us. They were diving between sofas freely, which was both terrifying and sickening considering we had just eaten from the establishment, I question why they are still allowed to be in business.

Big mistake, finally managed to get barmaids attention after standing at the bar patiently waiting while she chatted to a group of young men, after about 15 mins we asked if we were invisible. It took another 15 mins to actually get a drink as for food we ended up giving up and telling the barmaid that we would go somewhere else her reply was ok. Worst case of customer service I have seen in a long time.

I am a strong believer in not believing all that you read on review websites. This place is atrocious and I didn't even eat or manage to do anything here. Why I hear you ask. Because it was closed! No one turned up for our brunch booking! I rung the venue several times and emailed. Once I went back to the venue later after having to salvage what was my friends 29th birthday I got a flimsy apology and just told the girl isn't turn up and they would make it up to my friend. Bearing in mind our reservation was at 1pm and I got an email response at 4:30! When I went there the venue was dated, dirty and rotten. It was a blessing in disguise. Avoid at all costs!!

My friend and I visited Roxy's after I bought a Wowcher deal for Brunch and bottomless prosecco for 90 minutes. I was a little sceptical after reading some of the reviews on here but we already had paid so thought it was worth a shot. On first appearances the reviews are spot on, it was unclear we had arrived at the venue as there was a large wooden board outside blocking most of the entrance, there was no one around and everything did look quite worn and weathered. The lady who served us was so lovely, happy and friendly. She gave us a bottle of prosecco to get us started. My friend and I had 2 courses of brunch including Roxy's breakfast, porridge, pancakes and eggs benedict. We were pleasantly surprised and everything arrived promptly, everything was clean and the food was very tasty. We ended up spending most of the afternoon there, washing down a further 2 bottles of prosecco and well exceeding our 90 minute visit, we even ordered creme brûlée on top of our deal to round the afternoon off! Only 2 other customers came and went during the afternoon which we did not mind, it meant we got to have a good ol goss and catch up in peace! Those customers had the Sunday roast which looked very good too. This place does need a good refurb and it has so much potential, so it's a bit of a shame everything is rather tattered. Toilets were also clean, always an important factor on the general cleanliness of a place I find. All in all, we had a lovely and rather merry afternoon, and we would definitely return! Keeping my eye out for more excellent Roxy Wowcher deals!!

Visited with a wowcher deal, so it was very good value for money. The venue is quirky and a different way to spend a night out, having a meal and watching a film.Unfortunately the place was quite dirty. Lots of cobweb an, dirty mirrors behind the bar. The ceiling was filthy. When we arrived we had to wait ages to be greeted by someone, the staff dont wear a uniform - they were very friendly but dont look smart and are clearly under staffed. There was a terrible smell when we arrived, which we later found out was probably the baked Camembert...probably a burnt or old one hanging around, and what with the dirt we saw, we were pretty concerned about how the food would be.......We were really pleasantly surprised as the food was really good, cooked well and tasted nice, also it was presented nicely, the tables and cutlery were clean. The prawns were delicious in particular as was the creme bruleMy only complaint was the steak burger was very fatty and had too much sauce. The milkshake cocktails were delicious, and priced at reasonable London prices, however a nicer glass would have made it fit in with the venue and the whole experience they sell on their websiteThe film we watched was 'how to be single' it was good quality sound and screen.I did however notice they were using a for private home use only dvd!!I would go again, at the bargain wowcher price, as the food was good and the film was good, you cant get a night out for the price we paid. However full price i would have been very disappointed. The venue doesnt live up to its snazzy website, its not as glamorous by any stretch of the imagination. But if i got another cheap deal, i would consider going any, and hope they may have had a spring clean by then.

Overall it was a nice experience and the staff was kind and friendly. If you like the idea of live cinema & dinner , this is the place you are after, however try to set your expectations in advance to avoid disappointment. The interiors are dated and should definitely be renewed (especially sofas). The place does not look "superclean" at a glance , however the pub style food it`s simple and not bad.The concept is great and perhaps will not be so popular if located in another side of town, as would be definitely more expensive and less attractive.

Booking is easy. Do arrive before 7pm to ensure you get a good seat. Food was relativy quick and tasty. You will have to pay extra for a starter or dessert as the ticket and dinner price doesn't really explain what you are entitled to. The only down side was there was a football match on the other side of the curtain and a few drunkish lerry/Leary/lairy types could be heard. Which spoils the atmosphere not the venues fault, just human error. Overall a goodnight, I will be back again. The staff are friendly, the place is east to get to, so go visit.

Was fairly full and everyone enjoyed themselves couldn't hear any complaints. Would say alcoholic drinks expensive but a pint of diet Pepsi was reasonable. Suggest get there 1900 so your on dessert when film starts. Quality of film and sound also good we saw the new jungle book . Agree with other review if your snobby don't go but if you can get past the decor, want to chill with your partner, a hearty 3 course meal and a good film a Google night out will be had. I bookee the wowcher brunch deal for me and my friends and having looked at the website and pictures was looking forward to a nice brunch in a quirky trendy bar........how wrong i was! We arrived to a bar which didnt even look open theres was no one inside apart from 1 barmaid who sat us down at the nearest table with tablecloths that had seen better days. The place was dark, dingy and the tv above us had plugs and wires hanging out and the walls looked like they hadnt seen a lick of paint since the 1970s.We were given 2 bottles of prosecco which didnt take us long to drink as being a bit merry was the only way to make the most of sitting in the most depressing place in london. When the bottles were finished the waitress kindly topped us up.We ordered a HAM and cheese omlette with chips but when we started eating it my friend bit into a lump of chicken (which she is allergies to) we complained to the waitress who said she would speak to the chef, 5 minutes later the chef stormed up the stairs waving an old bit of meat at us shouting that it was not chicken but pork which like ham is from a pig. He didnt seem to fathom that ham and a lump or pork were slightly different and we hadnt ordered a pork omelette or a chicken omletter but a ham one. We decided not to have a second course finsihed off the prosecco and made a swift exit. The waitress was apologetic but its not her fault she done her best and always made sure our prosecco was bottomless which we were grateful for. I wouldnt advise booking this unless u want food poisoning or a pork/chicken omelette.

We visited last night to see "Room" it was a Wowcher deal £24, 3 course dinner and a film for 2.Our expectations were low after reading the reviews. Yes this place is not posh. It is obviously an old nightclub/bar that has been converted. The tables are a little sticky (this is the gloss paint) not dirtiness. However the food hygiene rating in Nov 15 was 2/5 and we did see a mouse run along the floor! Surprisingly we really enjoyed ourselves. The starters; deep fried Camembert with cranberry sauce was yummy as were the deep fried prawns with sweet chilli sauce. The Wowcher deal only allowed us to have cheese burger and chips. But this was actually homemade and was really delicious. The desserts of creme brûlée and lemon posset were not to my taste. The room is set up with tables at the back and Chesterfield leather sofas at the front. The front row was too close to the screen, we were lucky enough to bag the back row directly opposite the screen so we were happy, but the rest of the guests didn't have such a good view. They need to rearrange the room to make it better for all. The film was brilliant. The screen good. The odd thing was that you could hear the football in the background, this was being played alongside the DVD. It didn't ruin the film though and you only noticed this in the quiet bits of the film. Something easy to rectify. The drinks were quite pricy. £18 for a bottle of wine and £9 for a double gin and tonic. The waitress/bar lady did the best that she could. I feel for her as I can't imagine that she gets many tips. All in all we had a good evening. But I can't imagine this place lasting unless it is refurbished. People expect a lot more for their money.

My partner and I booked tickets to see a film and get some dinner at Roxy Bar and Grill in July. It was, without a doubt, the worst but most hilarious cinema experience of my life. When we first arrived, a woman begrudgingly pointed us in the direction of the torn 1980s sofas where we sat for the remainder of the night. On the TV screen, was 60 minutes with Robbie Fowler on mute which we watched for the full 60 minutes until the film began. The food we ordered was mediocre and we had to eat it on the sofa with no table or lap tray which proved relatively difficult.Just before the film was due to start, I popped to the bar to order two drinks. The barmaid was working alone and was probably the most miserable person I've ever met. The woman in front of me ordered 'Lemon Lime Bitters' but the barmaid did not know what that was and said 'WHAT'S THAT? IS IT LEMON WITH A LIME AND BITTER' very rudely to the woman. The woman then changed her order. The entire line of 5 people then had to wait whilst the barmaid left to turn the DVD on. It quickly became clear that she had not used a DVD machine before as it took her 10 minutes to work out how to turn it on whilst the entire audience sat in silence.Once the film started, the real fun began. At very important parts of the film, the DVD would skip, freeze or just stop altogether. The barmaids solution to this was to exit to the menu, go to 'scene selection' and fast forward back to where it had stopped. OR sometimes we were treated to a repeat of the scene which was very handy for those people who may have zoned out. After this happening at least ten times during the film and after numerous complaints by other audience members, the DVD skipped once more, five minutes before the crucial ending to which the barmaid decided this was enough and that no one needed to know how it ended and pressed stop on the DVD before saying 'Sorry about the film'.This cinema would suit anyone who wants to watch half of a film and would be even better for people who love poor service.

We waited an hour for our dessert after we finished our main and to be honest, we may as well have not waited as the desert was non existent and tasted terrible as did the starter and main. The bar and the film screen are separated by a curtain which meant that the load, obnoxious people watching the sport were heard over the film. Sadly we were left waiting to be seated for sometime due to there being two staff working the floor. Once noticed, we were told to place our order at the bar, so we waited again for the member of staff to take other patrons' meal orders, serve drinks and deliver meals to tables. While waiting we had to ask for the music to be turned on when it stopped playing. The service once received was terrible. We waited ages for each course, with dessert arriving at the end of the movie. The condiment jars were empty, the cutlery stained and the whole venue was unkempt. The set up seemed disorganised which is a shame because the venue, movie and meal had potential, unfortunately the service, venue and meal have deteriorated.I will not be going to the Roxy in the future.

Bought a 3 course + movie screening for two. First impressions were great - nice vintage feel, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. However, bartender did not know what drinks specials were on that night, or whether one of the dishes was vegetarian (response was "I'm pretty sure it is" and no offer to check with the kitchen). Admittedly the place was full to capacity due to the LivingSocial voucher deal, but we were required to book in advance so they knew there would be approx. 25 tables. Only had one waitress, one bartender and what looked like only one person in the kitchen, so service was extremely slow. After the starter we waited more than 1 hour for the main, during this time the waitress came over three times and had to ask which course we were waiting for which was not confidence-inspiring. When our food did arrive she did not know which burger was which so we had to shine our phone screens on the plates to figure it out. The meal was average, not terrible food but the main was slightly cold and the creme bruleé dessert was completely cold. We were planning on staying for drinks after the movie screening but decided to leave immediately once it finished as we were so frustrated by the whole evening. The Roxy has so much potential to provide a really enjoyable event, but I feel the disorganisation let the place down and has only highlighted this by bringing a big crowd in only to provide such poor service.

The guy behind the bar was working by himself and was trying to serve drinks and food and was run a little ragged but this did not mar the experience. The food was well cooked and you had the choice of a main breakfast followed by pancakes. The food was nicely cooked and well seasoned. The prosseco was unlimited and managed to get 6 galsses in in an hour and half. The decor in the place is a little dated but again this had no effect on our experience. The rugby was also been screened but this was down the one end of the bar with us eating at the other far end. The set up really was good as neither interfered with each other. The staff member was amazing and so friendly, he did look very tired though and you could see he was a hard worker. He made the experience even better - a big thank you to him.

I have little to fault at this cinema restaurant. My voucher expired due to a last minute appointment clash, Roxy extended my voucher and we attended the bar about three weeks later. We arrived early, had no trouble with service and the food was lovely. It is shabby, but comfortable and we enjoyed the film. A different way to enjoy cinema.

Having read quite a few of the reviews (subsequent to my visit), I wonder if it depends on which day you visit? I went on a voucher deal with a friend for a screening of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Without doubt, the place is very shabby and run down, and there was definitely a bit of a whiff! However, the food served was simple, well cooked and tasty (although the chocolate brownie tasted a bit on the singed side). I didn't see any evidence of mice and the young lady behind the bar worked hard and was very pleasant.

The service was terrible and on top of everything there were mice running around the room, I dread to think what state the kitchen is in!!

I had a voucher for cinema screening and meal, when I turned up I was told by an extremely rude doorman that he didn't know anything about the cinema screening and that it must have been cancelled and that I could come in. I asked to speak to management and I was told I couldn't. So not only extremely poor service/planning by cancelling a show and then not telling people, but to then be treated so rudely by the door staff was disgusting! from the outside the place looked really run down and grimy, so am probably pleased that I didn't end up spending an eve there and eating there.

It is amazing how easy it is to make money in London - the Roxy makes absolutely no effort and still people go. It is one of the most depressing and poorly run places I have ever been into and the main reason I joined tripadvisor to try and prompt the lazy owners into changing this run down and filthy venue into something better,The Roxy Bar and Screen is a dive. The beer always gives you a bad stomach and the food in there- well I wouldn't even eat it if it was free and of late, they have been so desperate to draw in customers it has been. The sole reason of our visits has been to see the Liverpool games, it makes a loose claim at being a Liverpool pub although I don't see how illegally streaming games is such low resolution you cant tell the difference between the players makes it count! The toilet is like something out of trainspotting! There are mince and other vermin that run around on the floor. Everything from the glasses to the seats are dirty and not even the dingy depressing lighting can conceal it.Total shambles

To rate the service at Roxy's as bad would be misleading, as it would indicate that there was any sort of service at all. The bar maid must have missed a day or two in catering school, probably the part where you learn how to be helpful. Her response to one of our party asking where his food order was (which had taken 30 minutes at this point) was to shrug and state that she was "too busy to deal with this". Presumably too busy not serving all the other customers who were waiting and complaining. Her colleagues were no better. If I could give a lower rating than one out of five, I would. Truly awful.

Uff

I love the idea of a bar with a cinema but this is poorly executed to the extent that it lacks any kind of romantic or cult charm.Ultimately the experience was watching a DVD on an uncomfortable sofa from a poor angle, the food arrived after a long wait and was bland. They also had very few options for drinks on tap. They used Spotify to play music before and after the movie but didn't have a subscription so adverts kinda ruined the vibe. They didn't even let the credits roll before going back to the generic r n' b. All in all, this could be a great idea but is let down by a lack of creative vision or quality execution. A curio and little more, avoid.

Went to Roxy recently with some friends for dinner and a film. Food was average but satisfying. Staff service was poor. We ordered and paid for a bottle of wine which we were told would be delivered to our table. Never came. When we asked we were told they didn't have any of the one we ordered left. So we had to prompt for an alternative. Would have thought they would come and tell us and offered alternatives, without prompting, given we already paid £17. Also ordered soft drinks/water which we had to ask for at least 3 times. Playing music through a free Spotify subscription so we got all the ads which play twice as loud as songs. Film was great as was screen and sound. Nice idea to be able to have a meal and watch a film in a relaxed environment with friends. But service really left a lot to be desired for us.

My sister and I went here for my birthday back in January we had a wonderful time watching a movie while having a really lovely 3 course dinner, my sister and I really enjoyed the whole evening. We have been there previously and it was just as lovely which is why we returned again. The staff were extremely helpful. the only problem that I had on this occasion was that this time it was winter and it was really cold inside they had heaters on inside but it just wasn't warming the place up at all my sister and I felt our feet was freezing and when we spoke to other Patrons after the movie finished they felt the same way. I would definately return again but in the summer not winter months. It is really lovely sitting on these lovely comfy chairs like being in your Living room with a huge TV. I brought the deals on Groupon and Wowcher they are really worth it you just have to remember that it is an old building.

So as far as ideas for a date night go this is great! My partner and I loved the atmosphere, the food is reasonably priced and decent and the drinks the same. The venue maybe could do with a little re vamp mainly the toilets, however when we visited the venue was clean just a little tired. The food was good, it was comforting home cooked style food in keeping with the theme of a relaxed place to chill out with a beer or glass of wine on a sofa and watch a film. Burgers, lasagne, lamb, steak......the choice was great! Staff wise everyone was lovely and genuinely seemed to care if you had a good night or not. All in all I would recommend this place definitely. While we were there we were planning our next night!

I booked this on a wowcher deal for me and a friend to watch a film and have a 3 course dinner.... went on the website and the website impressed me and gave me the impression that Roxy Bar & Screen was a trendy place. The dinner on offer was a burger so I thought, what could possibly go wrong? We arrived and it was the opposite of trendy. The place is filthy, the food is disgusting and we had to leave half way through the film and as desserts arrived because I was sick 4 times 5 minutes previously. The place is old, neglected and dirty. I definitely wouldn't recommend going here! Do yourself a favour and find a different bar around Borough, this place is awful.

Terrible terrible place. Living next to them is a nightmare. After closing time they have staff parties and are extremely loud until past 10pm Shout and blast the music which we can hear from the apartments. Please don’t give your money to Boulangerie Jade near Victoria Park they’re very rude and don’t care about the residents.

This is local to me and I've been visiting for 4 years. I agree the menu is a little confused but it always is well presented and tastes delicious. I'm so sad the amazing cakes are no longer available. They stopped last year I believe. The replacement ones are unfortunately not nearly as wonderful. The staff are usually rally friendly and helpful. I've had one very poor experience with a female staff member being off with my tiny dog but every other time the staff have been lovely and give water and sometimes even treats. Such a great experience! I suspect the rude waitress was just having a bad day so it won't put me off going again :)

Just across from Southwark tube. Popular for rolls and sarnies but is a cake desert! Even had none of those advertised on their menu boards. Workmanlike.

The blonde manager is rude. I think she was on break. She asked us not blocked the fire exit which was not true. As she was blocking it herself. Would not recommend this place at all.
